anyone who’s practiced this knows how exhausted your picking hand gets, and Stevie was able to do this song for 7+ min when performing it…with sets of 13 gauge strings
And singing! That’s why he’s one of the greatest to ever pick up a guitar

I really like this tutorial and how you addressed the figure 8 strumming pattern. Thank you!
Great video!! Amazing skills!!

Great lesson sean
Another really good track/ lesson Sean! I've been covering this (weakly) at my local jam each week- so these are some really good tips and insight! Thanks!
7 days without SRV make one weak.
It’s a great right hand workout! Glad it helped 🙂
@@forester057 I had to read that twice- good one!
@@yjmsrv Yeah sorry haha it was an old dad joke my dad used to love.

🔥🥵
I’ve always wondered exactly how he managed the figure eight/infinity motion, excellent instruction ! Do you believe the 32nd notes are the top speed SRV achieved, or did he bump it up from time to time ?
He probably went faster now and again, just whatever felt right for him
Awesome tutorial!!! I looked everywhere for something like this, and you totally nailed it. Thank you for the lesson. One question - how do you keep the pick from slipping in your fingers?
Go slow. Try it a couple of more times. If you can’t figure it out, try a few more. And if you still haven’t figured it out, try a few more times, if you STILL haven’t figured it out try it a few more times.
Thanks for this sir!
My pleasure!
So much harder than it looks! Hoping to purchase your lessons soon. Is your strat an st62?
It’s a Classic Series 60s Lacquer MIM
👍👍
He's fast as fuck
A brilliant tutorial …as a diehard SRV fan..few come close …you’re past Texas Blues Alley..I thought he was good ..I can notice your low e getting knocked ..it’s moving as your strum.. my tiny hand won’t reach round to mute it like yours
Thanks a lot!
can you make tutorial obout your short video Clear , please ?
This is somewhat an old vid so hope you see this, but how are you stopping the plectrum from slipping out of position in your fingers when playing the 32s? That is my main issue with the tempo. Cheers!
The slipping out goes away with practice.
I think SRV strumming probably reverses the order of the neck side and bridge side. From what I've observed, strumming is on the bridge side when it's on-beat. What do you think?
So how do i go from 16th's to 36's its like impossible. I can do the 16th note easily, but 36 is way off. How and what did you practice to get there?
Just keep doing it until you get it. The circular motion helps me. I literally can’t play it that fast unless my hand and wrist does that

5*****stars extra ;-)
How many 16th notes do you miss switching to the other chords ?
Not sure, try not to count it in that way. It’s more of a feel thing
@@seanmannguitar ok thanks man. 😉
I guess srv was playing more like dotted 32 notes?
What does that mean?
@@ohno5212 In sheet music you have dotted notes which are like 1.5x the value of the note
how do you count 16th and 32 notes triplets ? like for the 8th one I can count in my head "1 Triplet 2 Triplet..." but then I am lost
Yeah don’t count just feel it, it’ll be impossible to count 32nds
What gouge pick?
1.14mm I think

Personally, having trouble keeping the pick at place when I do this😂
on a list of techniques that SRV developed... I'm not super on board with this one.
Sean would you reccomend a softer pick for this one? Cant get it working with my 1.25 milimeter
