I went to high school with Joe Dart, he's painted in a mural right outside the performing arts center there along with one of the greatest saxophone players in the country...makes me proud of my hometown and its so wild considering harbor springs has a population of like 1100 people
I'll just take this opportunity to mention that I (and not that impudent liar Bernard Purdie) recorded all the drum tracks on the Beatles' 1963 studio recordings at Abbey. I'm reminded of this by the little-known fact that the arrogant imposter Faul McCartney was born on the bayou just outside the city limits of Harbor Springs. Thank you.
@@MemeFactory34 She said he's painted there along with one of the nation's greatest sax players. We don't know to which sax player she's referring. It's a mystery, gang.
I don't know how I can call myself a funk fan and not have discovered your band until today. Got grooves deeper than the Mariana Trench, and pocket you could get an '80s carphone in. Haven't smiled so much from new music in a while now. And Joe Dart has me running off to brush off my fingerstyle funk. Hope you guys can somehow make it to Norway... Peace.
Joe has to be my favourite player at the moment..why? Because he actually plays the bass as a bass and not a lead guitar. As technically gifted as those players are they bore the living daylights out of me. 1 more reason...he doesn't overdo the slapping. So many players slap the living daylights out of tunes more for their own ego and flash than the music. IMO Joe serves the music before his own ego.
I love this video because of the mysterious camera shots and angles of people that's making me spend the whole time trying to just lay out a picture in my head where everyone is in relation to one another, with the perspectives and panning of the different clips.
The spirit of Francis "Rocco" Prestia lives on brilliantly in Joe Dart. Rocco invented this style! Bassists check out Tower of Power - What is Hip? for the roots of this finger funk
It does the heart good to see people showing mad love for a bass player like Joe Dart. Also, well done on the new album, guys. I'm inspired more than ever to keep creating music.
I've only just found this song and this band as a whole, and as a drummer, I aspire to have this much groove and flow, big ups to Jamire Williams for having as much groove as he has

i love you so much vulfpeck. you are amazing...i am so sad i missed your concert. you guys are legendary please never break up and keep making music. PLEAS!!!!!!!!!
joe dart does that thing where you laugh during his licks because its just so absurdly good and sweet silly pocket zone...like how i laugh when zappa rips, or trey, or mmw, or claypool, or bootsy and worrell, or hancock head hunter days, or cobham etc etc.
Fun fact: In my country we had a brand called Tesla making a lot of audio hardware and it was very very good quality, so if somebody has a Tesla, it means he has a good thing aswell. BTW I'm currently using a Tesla amp (NZC420) and also a Tesla speakers. The quality of the sound from it is as jgood as this song.
Coming to back to report that this may be one of the most influential songs to my drumming. It introduced me to the concept of how many ghost-notes you can possibly fit in a groove lmfao.
Oh man. So you guys decide to exumate James Brown in Pegasus Warning and I can't even feel my legs after this level of funkiness.Oh, Vulfpeck, you groovy basterds.
Joe Dart is right up there with Les Claypool and John Paul Jones on my list. That is not even a compliment. That is basically the highest honor that I could think of in regards to bass playing.
I'm pretty sure Joey Dosik does everything at this point. Sometimes I feel like they could all just rotate instruments and it would sound just as good and then I feel small.
When looking at Vulfpeck members, one has to assume they play every instrument excellently. Except Joe, as his bass playing level is just unmeasurable.
I'm not even amazed by Joe Dart's bass playing anymore I'm just scared
lol
indeed a spooky one
Happy Dartoween.
Omg, that has to be the best comment I've ever read! Totally agree! I LOVE VULFPECK!!!
lol

Joe Dart is a bass player, I think you might be thinking of Joey Dosik

I need to see this mural, how do I find it?
Its easy to confuse the two since Joey Dosik is the Joe Dart of Saxophone players
@@MemeFactory34 She said he's painted there along with one of the nation's greatest sax players. We don't know to which sax player she's referring. It's a mystery, gang.
There is absolutely nothing center panned in this mix. I love it.
I do not endorse such chaos
holy fuck i just noticed
I got an mono button on my preamp and when i turn it on it sounds like 1973
I think the bass is pretty much the center
Luis Eduardo Camacho Espinosa actually its left
The Mozart break gets me every time.
Can we talk about those drums though? My speakers just unplugged themselves and jumped off my desk because they couldn't handle the chops.
straight up i was dying
This guy funks so hard with the kick + snare it is nearly impossible for me to comprehend.

Joe Dart's head bobbing is more accurate than my metronome.
Lol
yes sir
at first i was all ... nope ... then i looked ... still ..nope ... then i looked again ... turns out the light hitting my eyes was out of the pocket

I wonder if in twenty years, we will look back at Joe Dart in the same way we look back at Jaco now...
I very much doubt it
Jaco was unique in the 80s.
20 years?...I'm a bass player...I already do!

There's no denying that Joe is great, but he isn't changing the way the instrument is being played like Jaco did.

vulfpeck X anderson paak would be a dream
yooo, i love the shit out of both of these artists and never put that together. that would be amazing
Anderson Paak uses/has used vulf compressor one some of his tunes so that makes sense.
