Maybe Primus? Les Claypool plays bass and is the frontman of them. I would recommend checking them out even if they are not the band you were talking about originally!

Futuristic Tapocalypse and Slapocalypse had me hooked and the lights were mesmerizing. I had to play this song on repeat many times and I still can't get enough!
You got me smiling, laughing, playing drums on my office chair and just feeling great for 2 minutes and 40 seconds during your performance, and the feeling will last all day. Thanks, I needed that!
Most people can't appreciate just how difficult it is to pull off those triple plucks starting at 0:49 - those are 32nd notes with the index, middle, and ring fingers plucking the string just hard enough that the string snaps against the fretboard in quick succession. That must have taken a TON of practice!
Unless you're Charles doing these videos, triple plucks get you fired from actual, real, paying gigs. Musically and groove-wise, what's so great about them?
People don't realise how crazy it is that he puts out these great original songs on such a regular basis. Always pushing himself to write something new for us. We appreciate it!
@@mattlofty5884 DR makes color coated strings. The coating stops rust and some people say they sound better than non-coated. I have black or blue strings on my guitars that are black or blue.
Charles produces another fabulous rendition of a pop song as though it was completely normal. Luck for us! Perhaps one of these efforts will eventually be so good it will even bring Winston back to life.
I agree it looks out of this world, even tho as a pianist I can tell that your eyes are much slower than your muscle memory and with practice playing mostly blind comes automatically. It’s like shifting gear in a car, if you did it 5 gazillion time, watching is pointless.
My favorite thing to do to random people is ask if they know who this guy is. If they don’t, I’ll show them one of these videos and watch as their face goes from neutral to pure awe
It’s like that guy who keeps saying “It needs more cowbell” But he’s saying “It needs more bass!” And you keep delivering! Awesome song and awesome led bass !
I'm the one who suggested this song about a year ago, not once but twice, and I have to say, it's everything I imagined it would be. I'm sad that i can't go back and see ny comments because they were on community posts which disappear, but either way... I think I've played this video over 50 times, and the fact that it's available as an mp3 blows my mind. I used the crazy tapping part as my ringtone and it's insanely amazing. As always Charles, thanks for sharing your legendary talents with us!
ngl kind of in love with this cover, and the thought put behind it. Switching to a somewhat jazzy/futuristic tone while wearing the helmet was genius, and I'm so sad that it's not available for streaming.
Dude, I know it probably sounds like "cap" but, like a week or two ago, I was randomly remembering how I would do my own crappy slap version of this song when it came out. Thrilled to see your stellar rendition!
oooof, this man just astonishes me everytime. the amount of practice hours it takes to make this look as easy as charles does is/would be mind boggling. only one other man(in my opinion) who makes it look this easy and that the WOOT man. cheers
Hi Charles, you never cease to awe me. I miss the days of "Bass Battles"😭... How about a bass battle with MohiniDey or Malaman?... Or even better, with both of them. I believe that will be so awesome.
You are an absolute legend, man. Your talent, creativity, passion, and inspiration is truly something to behold. I love it. Truly appreciate your content!
As I was watching the first half, I was thinking that Charles should be wearing robot helmet while playing this, and BAM! He played the rest wearing one! 🤖🤗
What an incredible piece of music...when you got to the part on the lighted plexi I was captivated and mesmerized at your ability with the futuristic helmet.😅
You are always so amazing Charles - genuine creativity- a pest but what an effect that helmet is - you are so modest and self effacing - you are so willing to put on a wig or whatever - it says so much and it sounds SO great - you rip it man thanks for brightening up a early spring day - what a laugh , what bass so solid 👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏
Charles, the second half of this video is really super-awesome! Hearing it was like "deja vu," because I felt like I had heard something like it before, but I could not figure out what it was. The very interesting melodies you are playing are not part of the original "Get Lucky" song. I have listened to this video of yours a number of times now, and I have yet to figure out where I feel like I have heard these types of melodies before. I have been searching my memory, and I have been going through my numerous extensive UA-cam playlists to see if I could find anything I have saved that sounds like them. However, I have not, and I really like this a lot! Thanks, John
I don’t know anything about bass or even music. I can’t read music but I can hear. Somehow you showed up in my YouTune feed and I’m amazed and enthusiastically hooked. On your fluid sounds. Maybe in my next life? Wonderful.and congratulations on all your accomplishments.
That was amazing. I especially appreciated '6. Futuristic Tapocalypse'. It made me think about the spider head scene in the movie 'The Thing' where at the end of the scene the guys says "You gotta be 'freakin' kidding me". I say that as a big compliment!

That cute little triplet slap sound is so sick.
True, but it's on the wrong beat. "I'm UP all night to have fun"
00:49 it's an octo++let ;)
That's more than a triplet.
triplet pluck thank you much

When "this helmet cost way too much" came up at 2:00 I sang that sentence with that melody.
Sick - it fits!
Ooo. Good catch.
I guess he did that on purpose
But the neon strings and LED lighting on the bass are the perfect counterpoint.
Now I can’t not do it
The Voyager synth melody at 1:28 gave me goosebumps
perfect number of likes because of me but ur 100% right this part is amazing

Oh yeah, loved it, such a nice little lick!
Any chance there's a tutorial on this technique?

Im pretty sure that part is from “Voyager” (go to 2:14 in the song) but that’s another bop too😎

The tapping during Future Tapocalypse was really nice note choices over the chords.
