I was never a competitive athlete, but spent alot of time in lifting, martial arts. I just started sprinting 2 years ago ( I am 47 now) and man the learning curve is soo steep. I had to educate myself and I am currently stumped on exactly this, transition of mechanics and contact. this really helped alot to show me the full cycle, so many videos isolate just one or other. Seeing how one leads to the other really helps..and flows with what I feel on the turf. Thx!

Good vid. To the point. Would you say bounding helps with this a lot? Not the cycling portion but the frontside- backside portion

So coach, should I be trying to punch down and extend the leg, or punch down and pull backwards?

200meters would be more like 80 steps correct?

I am a bit surprised you/he did not address the poor posture in the novice sprinter video. Matt’s spine is on the perfect neutral position while the novice sprinter is leaning forward. This forward lean effects the front side mechanics considerably and is much less efficient.

I just wanted to focus on lower half but you are 100% correct. The posture and spine position make a huge effect on frontside mechanics especially

Good content. I like the detail about the front mechanics. Channels usually just say get your knee up. I'd like more details about the motion of the front leg. Is it suppose to be like an A skip or B skip?

Why do you think the coaching at Ga. over 4 years only yielded a .1 second improvement to Boling's 100, and a final season where he was actually slower than his high school times?

Because in my opinion coaches put too much focus on running workouts and conditioning the body instead of correcting biomechanics..

Faster than anyone that does not run. Using the mechanics that i use one leg moves from bottom to top other leg moves top to bottom

The foot behind the hips is the reason for breaking force the way that i run i have no back side mechanics that is why iam able to run faster
