    Thanks for the review! I want one too... I already have to pull my flash away when I have to take a call or load more ink, etc. Having the automatic on/off feature is a very desirable feature. This is a welcomed review! Happy Birthday Com-O!

    late to your videos, but two things that came to mind, were, the fans will blow the heat down and keep the heat off the wires and sockets more so that may help with that issue. the second thing was after seeing the dust and lint built up on the fan, i would be worried about the lint and dust blowing from the fan onto the wet ink

    Cam, thanks for the review. I think I might try one of these. I have a nice vastex IR unit but have cooked a couple pallets in the past. One thing I was wondering that might lower the flash time (only on plastisol), would be to cover the intake to those two fans on top and stop the air flow. Plastisol seems to cure faster when you don't add air flow. Just a thought. Thanks again.

    Im guessing the fans are for water and discharge inks? Can they be turned off so i can only use like a normal For plastisol? My old Chinese flash is almost out it has lasted me about 3 years.I'm looking to get in to water and discharge i have no air belt i cure my inks with flash ...so this and a normal belt dryer would do ?

    I’ve had one of these flash units for a few months, and now the sensor stops working after about 10-20 prints. If I turn the power off and leave it alone for about 10 minutes, it starts working again, but then stops after another 10-20 shirts. Any idea how to fix that? Or what’s causing it?

    Does anyone know how to wire the plug? Which wire corresponds to what.

  • @ucandoooit4216

    Have had mine for two months and everything has worked flawlessly. I put two thin washers where the pedestal attaches to the base to shim the flash head to a level position in relation to the pallet. I am new to the full-time business, but there is no way I would use a standard always-on flash now. I had been looking at the Flash-Amatic on a BBC flash originally, it would of been over three times as expensive as the Quartz flash and the thing uses electricity for the entire time you are in the shop. If I take a break for an hour, only the tiny fans on the quartz flash run. I may even buy a second quartz flash for backup. Or save my cash for a $3,000+ dollar "usa" quartz flash. Either way...Thanks Cam for taking the risk of buying a "cheap" Ebay flash to review!

      There are MANY sellers selling the same item. Saw one trying to sell for $1,400!!!! Even this seller has several postings with different prices for unit and shipping. Should be in the $530-$550 range with free shipping.

      Thanks, I saw that also, I just followed Cams link and see his seller is cheaper than the one I saw for $700+. Kicking myself for not having my electrician install 220v outlets and breaker. I definitely need an flash unit.

    • @ucandoooit4216
      @ucandoooit4216 6 років тому +1

      6000w @ 220v= 27 amps. I ran a 30 amp breaker with 10/2 w/ground (3 wires total). Doesn't come with a plug. It is 50hz, not the normal USA 60hz, but that doesn't matter with equipment like a dryer.

    What are the exact specs on the power supply on this? Does it need single or double phase? I assume it has no issue with the US 60hz instead of the 50hz it's spec'd at from the other comments below. Thanks!

    • @ThePrintLife
      @ThePrintLife  6 років тому

      Damien that is outside of my expertiese, how ever it is running on a single phase 220 circuit just fine.

      Knox Raven how’s the 20 amp working out for you after some time? I’m thinking of trying one of these on a nema 6-20r dedicated 20 amp circuit but 6000w seems like it will be tripping all the time?

    Mine came in today, I got it assembled and it is dead as a door nail. Went through all the fuses, got nothing. Took the 8 screws out of the control panel and the 2 main Hot 220 wires... Were hooked to NOTHING, one even had the fork connector ripped off. I cannot even tell where they were connected. Lucky for me, those wires did not touch anything metal in the case. Up side... all 8 bulbs are in good physical shape, just cant test.

      You want to hope its one of those accidents that happen. The seller has instructed me to take it up with the MFG in China... Yeah, this will likely end badly with EBay / Paypal spanking a refund out of them. I will give it a couple days and see if they are "helpful" or not. The Seller is "display-quick" so buyers may want to consider a different Seller.

      I worked with them on the phone a few times on their clock. They assisted me with understanding how things were laid out inside. This led to the biggest problem which was the main HV Relay. The base of it was broken so it would not stay on the mounting rail. They have shipped me the replacement HV Relay. The unit has worked without fail and I really have liked this unit. I do not have a rotary press and I am using it as a manual Flash.

    • @CentralPaRcFlyingDays
      @CentralPaRcFlyingDays 6 років тому

      FYI... It appears to be related to shipping damage. If the box falls hard on its side, this appears to cause hardware to brake loose and pull wires off. To me, this also indicates the wires could have been attached and tightened better, as I found with all the other connections that I tightened while in there.

    I have a vevor 18x24 flash unit. Also a Chinese product I bought on ebay, it has burned out on me twice but I've been able to repair it and keep it going. About once a year you need to go through and clean the corrosion off of the contacts and replace the wires. Also side note. That is high temp wire and it is really difficult to find small amounts of it.

      It's the truth I tried sourcing the bulbs like in your unit from china but it was to much. I'am build a flash unit right know using 250 watt infared heat lamps just because I can and the bulbs are available locally for 10 for 40 bucks building mine with a foot switch and time relay.
