How Hot is Your City? Tell me in the comments!
Mesa...AZ... well...you know... LOL!
74 today 90 yesterday. Michigan
90 - Coastal Georgia
It's 115 in SoCal area
Damn 74 in the summer, Love that but your winters are torture.
Print Fam! Niagara Falls Canada...was about 97 degrees all week. Got some rain last night and cooled things off. 77 right now...perrrrrrrfect!
We are in az as well. We have a big dryer and a couple flashes running during the day and it gets hot up in the shop. We try to start early and leave early. We also just got a swap cooler that has vents just over the printing stations. It helps but both our dark room and washout room are like sweat rooms.
A year late, but wouldn't it be easier to mix them using a huge syringe for measuring each pigment precisely compared to a scale?
Its crazy, I for sure never thought to try that!
True true you need them darn primary colors ready to go!
Great Content as always Cam. San Antonio right now 92 degrees 47% Humidity
You mentioned that you're not comfortable recommending the starter kits. Just wondering if you could do a video on how you would start a shop knowing what you know now. What equipment you would recommend a beginner start off with.
16 Celsius which is 60 Fahrenheit 52% humidity in Seytroux France. It’s also 10 pm after a rainstorm. Normally around 27 Celsius = 80 Fahrenheit
Why did the color match it not work? I can tell you why. Pantone is not based on a color model so how can you match a color without a color model. But thank God you got lucky! And you right about primary colors.
as far as I know, They built the pigment system of the color model Pantone uses. When I mixed the darker purple it seemed to get real close. So I have high hopes for the system.
Pantone is not a color model it is color matching system with numerical values and names give to the colors. So it just just spot color system which is why you will not find it in the color models of the graphics applications. You will only find it as list of spot colors to choose from.
You can see the science here

dixie cups might help with the color mixing.
For any normal ink, does the shirt HAVE to go through the heater belt? or can flash dry be okay? why does the shirt go through the hater belt?

What up!!! Great video as always brotha. Did I see you burn a screen, put the screen in your dip tank, and then washout the stencil?? That’s a new one for me, very curious! Thanks for all the juicy content you put out here man
we have a small dip tank that is just filled with water it pre softens the emulsion makes washout allot easier.

9 degrees celcius, Ontario Canada (a year late) but just found your channel.... so interested in starting up. Need equipment!!! ...
sup dude . I use to work for a circuit board company and we used little disposable Dixie cups to mix colors. just a idea. not sure if its cost affective but worth a try to get those equal portions.
Shirt turned out clean by the way IMHO.... *regardless of the color not being exact
I agree. The shirt looks better in person. The system is pretty cool I mix another color later and I worked great, So it seems like some colors will be closer than others.
I realize this is an older post but I just wanted to comment on it. Whenever you use transparent white, ALWAYS mix your primarily colors first and then add to the transparent white. You can measure the primary colors separately from the trans white. Also, if you convert the percentages to grams, you can set your scale to grams and it works out perfectly. Those Pantone formulas are not forgiving. I’ve been printing for 30 years and have mixed hundreds of pounds of ink colors. Your posts are fantastic! Keep up the great work.
Its 118 here in PHX, AZ
Hey man, my god damn thermometer in the shop must be busted or something. It's brand new, piece of Chinese crap!
it certainly feels like 118 haha

Print Life..!
Hows the M&R been treating you now Cam???
So good. all the registration issues were because that bolts that go through the head needed to be relocktighted (that aint a word) once that was fixed and the pallets were leveled properly every things works like a charm.
You are TOOO!! FUUCCKKIIN’ FUNNYY !!!!!!
Austin cooled off a little thanks to some rain this week - 95F with 46% humidity.
ga dang 46% would drive me nuts.
Does anyone know about using permaset premium on coroplast?
Cam, my shop just started using the adhesive glue to put on platens so we don’t deal with all the particles getting in our lungs from the spray adhesive. The glue adhesive is not keep the platens sticky for very long. How do you keep the platens sticky or do you have to keep re-applying the glue adhesive? Thanks
Joshua Hayden At our ship we can generally print several hundred shirts before needing to reapply. We usually clean the pallets and apply the water based adhesive in the morning and are good to go for the day unless we have a ton going down that day or are Printing on fleece.
xcellentgraphics is the water based adhesive something sold separately? Or can we just use normal tap water?
Na. That’s what you are using is water based adhesive. Sometimes if your lint buildup is t too bad later in the day you can take and spray some water on the pallets and send to the flash and it will bring back some tackiness as well.
xcellentgraphics okay. I’ll test that out. Thanks for your input.

What was he doing with the squeegee between the pieces of wood? Cleaning? Sharpening?
Sharpening the cheap way. A hot knife is ideal but sanding work just fine for us broke folks.
we are in the middle of a heat wave here in norff jersey so it's gets up to 95-96 in the shop (4th floor) w/ the ovens on. ink flows nice tho. sometimes i just print at night. speaking of heat, dude, stop drinking soda in it. really bad for you in hot conditions. water baby water.
i recently did a job w/ matsui discharge but those shirts faded quite a bit. also when you stretch test it really cracks up. anyone have a good discharge recommendation?
ello friend greetings from argentina .... I would like to know if the inks you used in this video are water-based inks or plastisol? I told you here in my city we have a temperature of -2 ° much much cold.
Just out of a heat wave, a cool 18 C/64 F 99% humidity in Digby, Nova Scotia. Rain just ended and back to sunshine for the weekend.
@ThePrintLife, Do you store screens from a repeat job/repeat clients without reclaiming/re-burning each time? If so, how do you store them?
New subscriber. Reyes The Entrepreneur sent his viewers here to check your channel out. I love it! Also, 71F / 91% humidity @ 12:45AM

Philippines has only 2 season, if its HOT, is f'in HOT, if its raining, its RAINING! You should go in the Philippines man..
Arizona is the same way. Shout out to the Philippines.
In my experience most ink companies use proprietary color matching formulations for Pantone simulations and don't rely on the percentage of mixing colors called out on the Pantone fan deck
That may be the case. Im excited to mix more colors and see how many are accurate.
hehe ;) 54 F and 68%
Hey Cam Awesome video! I've had that happen with the ink spot drying in the screen during production it's pretty annoying. If you use a pump up water spray bottle used for gardening you can get those out. Or if you clean the screen and use some water-based screen cleaner with a paper towel it seems to work well. This way you don't need to remake the entire screen.
We tried it all, I think if was Jesses greasy ass sweat, I would not come out for anything. Good advice though I will try that next time.
The Print Life lol that's funny. Also our environments are very different. You guys have way dryer heat than NY.
