    Finally somebody who gives actual good honest reviews, other reviews say they get 14+ mpg while towing, I generally get eight in a 2018 Duramax 3500 DRW. never seen better than 11, I usually set my cruise control to the exact speed limit

    I just upgraded from a 150 gas to F350 Diesel dually, to tow a trailer same size as yours. My first tow is tomorrow, should be awesome. I use bar type sway set up. I can only imagine at this point, how much better it will handle the RV compared to my F150 which was pushing the limits. Nice video and gadgets, more stuff I'll look into.

    I had the exact camper with my 2014 f-350 6.2l gas engine. Zero handling issues. Now 2019 f-250 6.2l gas engine and 24' couples coach. Empty nesters now and still no handling issues. Never believe an rv salesman who says half ton towable

    We pull a small travel trailer - 2019 North Trail (4500dry/6900max) with our 2021 F350 6.7L FX4 CC-LWB Lariat and it is fantastic, so much power, and the trailer cant move the truck at all. This truck takes everything to another level, and the safety comfort and confidence is the best part of it all~!

      Couldn’t agree more. I would rather have way too much truck then to be on the edge of what the truck is capable of, especially with my family in it. Driving through the mountains was a non-issue.

    My 765lb by manufacturer tongue 28bhs comes in at 1050 unloaded don't believe the manufacturer get a tongue scale.

    Jus want to add that you need to lose the full tank of water! You’re adding a lot of weight you don’t
    want to tow and reduce the wear on the brakes. Just an observation from a fellow camper who
    understands your issue. Be safe, and happy camping. 🇺🇸👌

      Yes sir. I typically only tow with minimal water now. Enough to run the bathroom and sinks in case we have to stop.

    I recently upgraded from an F150 to power stroke F350 lariat SRW with 3560 payload to pull my Grand Design 2400BH GVRW 7500 lbs. The F150 pulled okay but really had to make compromises on what we could take along because of payload. The F 350 in my case is probably overkill but we are also going to be taking longer trips next year though the mountains and was worried about the F150 on steep mountain grades. Glad to hear that the exhaust braking was effective. I have never owned a diesel truck but am looking forward to a much better tow and being able to bring bikes and kayaks along with no payload worries. I have a ProPride WD hitch so no concerns about sway. Thanks for posting your thoughts and experiences.

      That’s an awesome upgrade. You will enjoy the relaxed nature of towing with the F350. I would always prefer to tow at 60-80% of my trucks capacity, vs bumping against the line.
      For having a diesel for the first time, I have learned a lot about care and maintenance from PowerStroke Tech Talk. He has good easy to follow videos.
      Also, look into the fleet fuel cards for RVs that get you discounts at the truck stop pumps, if you haven’t already.

    Thanks for posting this. I just bought a new F350 SRW and will be getting a new TT later in the year (fingers crossed). I have never had a diesel before and have not towed anything larger than a pop-up so I appreciate the telemetry you provided on coolant, oil, and transmission temps. Can you provide more details on the app that you are using to monitor the engine and the OBD2 link solution please?

    • @jqworks
      @jqworks  3 роки тому

      Absolutely. The app that I have used the longest is Torque Pro. They have a free version as well to try out. Any Bluetooth OBD2 connector will work with it to varying degrees. The cheap ELM 327s will work for under $20. I have used those, Veepeak and recently bought this OBDLink MX+ OBD2 to get Forscan to work. It refreshes faster than my Veepeak. All purchased via Amazon.
      Congrats on your purchase and your upcoming travel trailer! What TT are you looking at?
      If you will be towing a lot, I would recommend looking into the RV fleet cards that can get you diesel discounts. I was able to save anywhere from $5-10 per tank. TSD Open Roads and My Diesel Savings are the ones that I have.

    For me it's not enough information. Heart from I believe with a F-350 that it's a limitation of his truck.

    Would a transmission cooler be necessary for this truck?

    • @jqworks
      @jqworks  2 роки тому

      Never had an issue with transmission heat with the stock cooling system. The truck runs at temps that feel higher than what older vehicles run at, but are within the operational ranges.

    For a 350 you don’t need a distribution hitch I thing that is for small trucks

    • @jqworks
      @jqworks  2 роки тому

      You are correct. You don’t technically need one, but you still get the benefit of better weight distribution between the axles and the added sway control, if your set up has that.

      My ProPride hitch makes for a much better ride even with my F350. Takes out any porpoising and eliminates any sway.

      @@jqworks Buy the propride p3 and it will be towing like a 5th wheel.

    • @Metal_Stacking
      @Metal_Stacking 2 роки тому

      The distribution hitch is almost a requirement for any 30ft plus travel trailer even if you pull it with a 450 4500. They sway from wind wdh with sway control is a much safer towing experience.
