I have a 350 on order, but it's the 7.3 Gas. The max conventional tow for mine is 19,500 which is a huge amount of weight. Fifth wheel is 21,400 max weight.
Seriously awesome 🤩 what are the specs of the truck to have that max tow payload ?
I love my 2020 F250 HCTTP. 22,700lb GN/FW and 20,000lb bumper(3" receiver). These numbers are out there. Looking to go to a 23 F350 drw.

We just bought a 2023 F350 XLT Ultimate, 7.3 liter gasoline, crew cab, 8 foot bed, SRW. It’s a nice red. Every bell and whistle on the planet. Thanks JD. Always good info.

I love my 22 f350 long bed lariat ultimate, so much power I tow a bumper pull genesis toy hauler in Arizona and going up and down the mountains it does amazing can imagine having an extra hp and torque of the 23

I actually like the looks of these new Super Duty trucks as long as they have LED headlights. I like the design of the dash too. I have friends that are Ford guys though that don’t which is interesting to me.
I feel like this much weight in an enclosed trailer is dually territory. Especially if you were on the Interstate with semi trucks passing you at 70 mph. I feel that trailer itself wasn’t too much for a SRW because it looked to be just about 28’ long, maybe 32’. I feel like once you get up around 34’ in trailers like that it’s a big ask for a SRW, and especially at this weight.
So yeah. This one is a little more realistic than the other two in my opinion but I think this is definitely dually territory. Then you probably wouldn’t have noticed the trailer other than the extra weight.
When did the term "bumper towing" come to mean towing with a conventional hitch? We used to call that "conventional towing". Bumper pulling used to mean towing with the ball on the bumper. It's called "bumper towing" because you're actually using the bumper.
Everything you said is true. It's what they call it now since almost no new truck is designed to have a ball attached to the bumper.
This is what I needed! Was thinking about picking up a gooseneck trailer, but my already high commercial insurance will double with a gooseneck trailer. If I can safely pull 24,000 on a bumper pull, it will save me several thousand each year.

Spring rate and axle ratings are the main differences between the 250 and 350
They have the same axles, just the springs are different.
I'm looking at these bumper tow numbers and wishing my trusty old 6.0 could haul that in the bed on a gooseneck. Damn the numbers on these new trucks is outrageous!
I'll keep my cheap old trucks, and just not haul that heavy. Cheaper in the long run by a very long shot. I could put two engines in either of my old rigs for the cost of one failed cp4. Crazy money for these things these days, I'll never justify a $200k truck after finacing. Thats even more insane than the tow ratings.
I get the 12v car socket criticism, but there are adapters easily attainable to convert to a 120v Type A/B for $8-$30, and you have options to even use USB or get an inverter for more capability.
As far as what technology they could put in these HD Pickups a exhaust pyrometer to monitor exhaust temperature would be nice, a differential temperature sensor as well as the oil and transmission fluid temperature gauges and maybe a tire temperature sensor in addition to the air pressure sensor would be great, the more info you have and the sooner you have it the better
24k with pickup truck brakes and electrics...just be careful, it won't stop as fast as you think! Been there many rimes...
JD, good video. Have you noticed that it seems maybe Ford has stepped up their payload numbers for 1 ton trucks? What about 3/4 ton payload numbers on '23 models? And here's a thought, maybe do a tape measure test with your Brookstone on squat with a 3/4 vs 1 ton. I'd be curious to see what the difference would be.
This is the same truck, in the same color I ordered in October of last year and still has not been built yet. You need to ask them/Ford what is the holdup building the 2023 Super Duties.

Man. These new Superduty’s are pretty damn slick. One thing hate about them is the integrated footsteps in the sides of the bed. They look terrible. I have a 2020 F350 loaded up Lariat with an 8’ bed and supercab 7.3 gas 4x4. Super damn nice pulling our travel trailer and our fishing kayaks. I wish my truck had 4.10 or 4.30 gears. But it does have a payload capacity of 4,330lbs. So I have a lot of room to go to a larger travel trailer in the future.
I have been watching your last three videos on these Ford trucks and I think they are great trucks. But, I can hear the engine revving in the back ground why don't you put the camera on the the gauge cluster so we can see what the tach is doing . what are they revving at going down the big hill and the speed is it being held by the exhaust brake or is it increasing. just wondering. Great channel watch you all the time.
They Showed it on TFL UA-cam channel they do about 3 to 4 k RPM doing about 40mph

Nothing crazy about this, we pulled a 25,000 pound trailer on Reece hitch with a 97 F-250 460 5speed half way across the United States. 70 mph back in the day. My buddy pulled 56,000 on a 30k trailer from central Florida to northern Alabama. Had a cat dozer and xp95 kabota skid steer with a 4 door 4×4 F-450

My question is these truck just keep uping the ratings but my hope is that they increase fuel economy and reliability. Kinda like gm’s approach that they aren’t chasing the highest numbers and give the consumer reliability and good fuel numbers wish ford and ram would follow suit but they won’t they’ll always try to one up each other
GM and Ford both build plenty of great trucks and plenty of garbage, neither has historically been any better than the other. Ford outperforms Ford in both capability and features though.
4k in payload, on a srw truck? What tires are on it? Tires are the limiting factor for most srw trucks, so I'm wondering if they put some tires on that have a huge load rating on them.
E load tires are rated in the 3600-3800lb range. So technically you’re in the 15000+gvw. Tires aren’t the limiting factor.
@newenglandrvadventures the tires are absolutely the limiting factor due the fact that when you max out the payload hardly any of the weight goes to the front axle, it is almost all sitting on the back axle.
2023 Ram 3500 crew cab SRW LB 6.7 HO 4x4 with 4,162 payload. The tires have plenty of rating.
@@BillUtah thanks. The tire manufacturers must have upped their game over the last few years, I couldn't find 20" tires for my 2017 F350 srw to get that rating, so I traded it for an F450.
@@jeffclark4008my Ram has 18 inch tires so I don't know if the RAM trucks with different tire sizes have different payload capacity.

My only complaint. If you think the ford is bad the chevy you can't even notice if it's on.
After watching TFL review of high output motor vs duramax that 1200 torque is overrated or the dura max is underrated
it's what happens when you tune your engine for peak performance vs tuning the engine for performance under real world conditions.
I think ford has a good truck.
That said alot of people are worried about the cp4 high pressure pump. Why can't ford recommend a lubricity additive ? Because that's the cause of failure in these pumps.
The other thing ford needs to do is reintroduce the manual transmission for specific trim, with detuned gas and diesel engine options. Because no one offers this and people will buy because it's different. (Just like the small truck market) and last why no eco-boost engine in hd trucks?
Finding a manual small enough to fit in a pickup that is strong enough to handle even 80% of the power that these trucks are putting out is the problem. Even the G56 in the last Ram was rated at less than 700 lb ft.
Do you know the gooseneck tow rating of that particular truck?

Well, that's the total weight when loaded. Capacity is what's remaining after Curb weight is deducted from GVWR

Did you get a chance to drive a 350 with the 7.3? Wondering what you think? Have one on the way and I think the payload is only 3800 lbs per the vin check so surprised the diesel has a 4k payload.
You should have well over 4k payload.
Did you order long or short bed? My 2022 F350 Lariat 7.3 crew cab long-bed has 4391 lbs payload per the door sticker. Heaviest load I’ve had in the bed so far was 3700lbs of concrete pavers over the axle with almost no squat.

Hi Jd, I have a 2022 f-350 SRW, Platinum with the power stroke with the short bed. Same as that King Ranch truck. My pay load sticker says I have 3,229 Lbs. That truck has 4,062. Over 800 pounds difference? How? Did ford change something? My GVWR is 11,500, what was that truck? If that truck has the same GVWR as mine, then that truck only weighs 7,438 pounds? 11,500 - 4062 = 7,438. Using the same math, my truck ways about 8,300 pounds. Something doesn't add up?
I suspect the test truck is a Long bed. Also a 12k+ GVW
THIS NEW TRUCKS COMPLETELY CHANGED THE TOWING LOADS I WOULD NOT TRUST THIS NUMBERS.... STOPPING POWER IF BREAKS GOES OUT, MIGHT GET YOU KILLED.

I own a 22 Tremor F350 with the 7.3 gasser and the Lariat Crew Cab SRW . After the purchase I bought a 16K pound boat. I know it’s illegal to tow my boat with my current truck (bumper or gooseneck). Assuming a 4000 pound trailer I would need an F450 gooseneck trailer to tow legally and not be sued in case of an accident? Also assuming I had the permit, oversized flags, license and insurance to tow it? I live in Florida. I just need opinions not looking to hold anyone legally responsible. I hate that I need this disclaimer so people will respond. Thanks. 😊
Just get an old single axle freightliner and you won’t have any trouble. Way cheaper if you just need a dedicated truck to pull a boat and way safer too
Along with the spring rate the F-350 has a positive wheel offset vs the F-250 which doesn’t.

An rv trailer is a sail wind moves it as a 43 year cdl driver you are towing it with pick up that's not safe when I started driving 335 Cummins with a 5 and 4 was normal and that was our trailer weight srw not safe it is getting insane out there

What my comment was about was how less costly vehicles don’t need to discredited because they got miles when in actuality they’re very capable

Ford blows... just returned a F-250 under the Lemon Law... thing could not be fixed, all the issues it had kept coming back up. Got a full refund per US law.
