    This is such an important conversation! Thank you for posting it. I think refined sugar and added oils might be the most damaging things in our food supply. They also both sneak into our vegan attempts to be healthy. I try to minimize them always. Look forward to next video!

      it is true, so true.. :( actually it is about money and power once again.. i believe we need to have this and even deeper conversations, so we can understand the reason behind how we are being fooled every fay... the big food industry is in a marriage with big pharma.. "they", needs us to be sick, so they can sell us their "medicines" on a daily basis.... basically they sell us 💩ty food products full of poison so we carry on staying ill... 😭😂😠😂😭😂

    Kombucha is only slightly better than soda. It's got a very low pH and can easily damage tooth enamel, so I'd recommend avoiding it if you are older and have any kind of gum recession or tooth sensitivity.
    Soda has phosphoric acid, which is absolute murder on teeth.

    • @ChelseaMae
      @ChelseaMae  2 роки тому +3

      I have not ever looked at this from a tooth perspective, thanks for sharing! You've inspired me to look into this more. Thanks!!

    • @Magnulus76
      @Magnulus76 2 роки тому

      @@ChelseaMae I've started paying more attention to it as I get older. Everything else about my health has improved dramatically since I adopted a largely WFPB diet, but cavities and dental erosion are still very possible eating Vegan foods.
      Kombucha is definitely a healthier choice than soda, has some probiotic qualities, and less sugar, but many people should exercise caution still. Particularly if you don't use a fluoride toothpaste.

I am transitioning from a diet program that had prepared food to navigating into the real food world without gaining back the 30 lbs I lost. This has helped tremendously and I am looking forward to watching your other videos. I love that you give alternatives and ways to use them. I’m especially looking forward to trying the sweet potato bread sub. Sweet potato is probably my most favorite food in the world.

    remember C. it depends on the bread used.. I have Burgin whole grains and oats 2 small pieces with my chick pea omelette which has a mix of kale, spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes red onions I have this mix made up in the fridge and have this around 4 days of the week and then low salt baked beans on toast.

  • @earthmamma85

    I think when it comes to calories, for me it’s about the nutrient density of the calories rather than just calories in number. I think too many people just focus on calories alone and end up cutting nutrition out because they super fixate on the numbers. But everything you swapped out was great. So much more nutrients in the swaps.

    • @ChelseaMae
      @ChelseaMae  2 роки тому +3

      Sure, nutrient density is super important... from a weight loss perspective I do see a lot of people eat high nutrient high calorie food and then wonder why they're not losing (like nuts and seeds)
      Overall it's important to have an understanding that calories are what affect weight loss, but keep nutrient density high by eating a ton of veggies, fruits, whole grains, legumes and starchy veggies.

    Thanks for these tips. I just bought 30 avocados on sale to use in smoothies and salmon topping. $.57 each at Kroger. Will freeze most of them. I still use olive oil to make salmon, and vegetables, but minimal amounts. The taste and ease of cooking in cast iron is why I still use it. But if making soups, grilling, etc, not neccessary. No longer eat bread, so I will try your potato 'toast' with some avocados. Want to try a potato 'pizza' as well. Have you ever done that?

But when my blood test results came back my good cholestrol went down my triglycerides only came down 10 points and my blood sugar went up to prediabetic stage. If your bread does that, then it is not very good bread to begin with.
    I make all my peanut butter and granola from scratch. It takes hardly any time and I feel the quality is much better than you are suggesting. If I were to make a substitution for peanut butter I probably wouldn't choose a processed food instead. There are better options. Then again if you are not eating bread, that would severely limit your peanut butter consumption anyway.
    I actually do eat granola in smaller quantities though because its so high in protein it tends to be really filling. Whenever I have eaten hot cereals on a regular basis I found they lacked the protein to allow me to function during the day. And I just couldn't do that for very long. Granola keeps me satiated for much longer.

    Stop eating carbohydrates, it's that simple. Calories is a measurement invented in the 1880's and not how the human body operates. If you stop eating carbohydrates you become healthier, especially if you stop eating processed foodstuffs. If you must include carbohydrates, which you shouldn't do, then keep the daily number of grams of carbohydrates down below 50 grams for healthy individuals and under 20 grams for those needing to improve health. Remember that carbohydrates are not necessary to the human diet. Your Welcome
