    I have the exact same curl type as Monica’s. I blow dry my hair weekly with a lot of heat protectant and then do heatless curls on day 3 hair. This gives my hair a nice, refreshed look in the middle of the week. Heatless curls don’t work great on my natural hair, as you can see with Monica’s hair.

      @@bananamary5907 I don’t really wet my hair; it’s textured enough to use as is for heatless curls. At most, I might use a mousse for more defined heatless curls by morning.

    I've always been in love with the idea of heatless curls like yours, and have tried many ways, many times (none have worked out). For clarity, I have low porosity hair that falls between 2c/3a that's long enough to sit on. When I first saw you do this method, I ran to my bathroom to give it a try. Unfortunately no luck, I think the hair porosity and the curl type makes a big difference. After following your steps and waiting a full 24h, my hair came out looking like I was in a wind tunnel for a week. some parts were curled, some were kinked, and there was patches of straight. This has just been my experience with heatless curls in general. I've tried less water with no difference, and tried more water and got the same result above (but with a 37h drying period because of the porosity). My hair is healthy, thick, strong, and apparently extremely stubborn. Even with heat curling it doesn't hold like others, and straightening lasts a whole 20 mins max, so I ditched heat with no alternative (which has made my hair healthier long run). All that said, if something like this doesn't work for you, don't think you're doing something wrong, maybe it just doesn't work for you. Take the time to really learn your hair. I found things that work for me after decades of struggle, and my styles usually last around a week with minimal touchup now, but my routine is much different than CG norm routines you always see. Never be afraid to experiment, just don't damage your hair when doing so. Your hair journey may be long, and nothing may seem like it will work, but you will get there eventually. Nothing is one size fits all. Much love to the vid, great to see you guys having fun!

      @faycoleman9023 Місяць тому

      It might be partly due to the weight of your hair. I have the same curl pattern as you, I recommend doing this with blow dried hair and using a setting lotion instead of plain water. I've found that just regular water tends to add more frizz.

    • @wenkachan6180
      @wenkachan6180 Місяць тому

      I also have low porosity and long hair, and this method doesn't work for me. I think it does have to do with the weight of my hair but not everything will work for everyone, and this is probably one of those times.

    • @ryskawolf
      @ryskawolf Місяць тому

      @@faycoleman9023 As much as I wish this would work for me, with such very low porosity hair, I cannot apply lotions/ oils/ creams to my hair. Unless it is soaking wet, or during a hair steam, the hair absolutely refuses to absorb any products on dry or damp hair. Blow drying is the only way I can dry my hair, even then it takes about 2-3 hours of blow drying (or roughly 8 hrs to air dry). Water actually has a somewhat opposite effect for me, allowing me to reset the hair better for less frizz since the hair doesn't absorb the water, just lets me do a "quick and dirty" detangle.

    • @ryskawolf
      @ryskawolf Місяць тому

      @@wenkachan6180 Hello fellow lo-po! My mother actually had the opposite hair from me except the low porosity. her was short and straight. We tried heatless styles through the years and they also never worked on her either. After looking into it, the cuticle of low porosity hair is super rigid and you have to use other methods to loosen the cuticle and then seal it again while in the style position you're going for (and always over style, it will always fall a little). When I was younger and more frustrated with my hair, I would always keep it shoulder length or shorter, and heatless curls still didn't work.

    • @wenkachan6180
      @wenkachan6180 Місяць тому

      @ryskawolf Ok now I need to know what methods you recommend for heatless curls cause this is getting interesting. Usually, I use hair mousse before doing heatless curls, and the results still vary a lot. And I do over style my hair when I want curls (I use foam rollers and do vintage sets).

    I have fairly wavy curly hair. This t-shirt method works for me. You have to blow dry first and brush/smooth the crown area a little, but it works. I recommend a setting lotion and a smoothing product on the ends. Letting stay overnight gives the best results. It will flatten out after about two days or so and just look straight with flipped ends.
