For the french braid waves - I love to do one dutch braid, starting at the very front of my hairline, down the center like a mohawk and all the way down to the tips on my hair. Lovely waves!
the overnight robe tie curls work super well! youre actually supposed to have the section of your hair by your face moving away from your face, and the back section wrapping around it toward your face. think of it like a braid, with the ribbon as the third section, but instead of just swapping the hair piece to the opposite side like you would in a braid, wrap it around all the way so that the pieces of hair are always on their own original side of your head it also works best if you use two ribbobs that cross in an "x" shape on the top of your head if you have a LOT of hair like mia does. hers didnt turn out because she had too much hair all together and it didnt have a chance to dry properly. i also dont recommend wrapping them into those buns at the end either
I have waist length hair and I only use about 3 of those flexi rods (mini pool noodles) to get really nice big curls. Works amazing and it's so easy and fast to do.
2b-2c wavy here🙂 super against the non heat rule but if I have to straighten my hair for anything I will throw some mousse on my dry straightened hair and then will do these!! Works fairly well and I only wash my hair 1-2 times a week so lasts a decent amount of time! 🤗
I love that your brought in your mom to do your French braids! Adorable!! There's no better feeling than having your mom braid or brush your hair, that truly brings me back to my childhood and makes my heart so full.
If you want to get heatless curls a bit faster, you can do a french braid on dry hair and then spray it with detangling spray. It dries much faster than water and your hair feels really soft when you're done. It would probably work with a few of the other tools as well, as long as the detangler can reach all of the hair that you want to curl. I started doing it with Suave Kids' detangler spray, which I think works the best, but I've also tried other detanglers as well.

also, if you want waves like the first one, you can just put all of your hair in a few braids while it’s wet or damp. it has a more crisp result, and it’s usually faster (depending on your hair length and thickness)
Most of these heatless curls techniques work better on totally dry hair overnight. A little hairspray through the mid lengths and ends and wrap and you'll get a beautiful curl/wave.
I'm just want to properly inform you those "flexi rods" are called perm rods and was literally invented and patent by black people in the 60's. I just wanna show your how easily black people inventions are taken and not properly credited. And that not the only style of perm rods. Like I said this is not bashing just informing
@@sevonalexander3653 hey! I’m Black too and you’re WRONG. Perm rods are totally different than flexi rods and are used for a completely different hairstyle. Flexi rods are used for heartless curls, whereas perm rods are most commonly used in perms... hence the name. Look up the definition of perm rods vs. flexi rods. In this video Mia is using FLEXI RODS (that’s why they bend..flexi.. flexible-rods). Educating others is find but make sure your information is factual. Again not bashing just informing ♥️
Ma’am I know you are black. That’s the reason why I commented under you. But if we actually talk about research. The “flexi rods” are actually called perm rods under the 1965 patent. When flexi rod name was by a white stylist who wanted to distinguish the two perm rods. Both items were patented under the same name and have the very similar design for a reason. I just trying get the word out because the black community is pushing more for gatekeeping. And we can’t do that if we’re not informed on everything
when you said you hope we aren’t getting bored i was like nooooooo this is perfect, you’re literally testing all the techniques i’m too lazy to try and we actually have pretty similar hair so i’m very interested.
I love your vibe, Mia. Been watching you for a while, but especially in periods with a lot going on in life. Your vibe is so positive! Thank you for great content
I love your vibes! Watched through the whole thing without skipping. It's good to know that I am not the only one failing with some techniques xD Thank you!
The best heartless curls I have found for my hair is actually sock curls. They work really well for me and my hair does not hold heat curls at all but it holds the sock curls for almost 3 days. Its takes a few tries to figure out the right amount of socks but they turn out amazing. Live you channel and hope everyone has a happy new year
Miaaaa if your hair is still wet then it will fail ANY curling technique!! I have straight as an arrow hair like you so I know the struggle. I think that ribbon method if your hair was dried probably would’ve worked great! (I think I’d opt to wrap it into a singular bun for more comfort lol)
When my hai was long like that, I used to do french braids. And it gave an epic wavy texture to my hair. I'd get it wet, put in the braids, lightly put some mousse over the top of the braids (or get it in my hair before braiding) leave it overnight then take it out in the morning. I had some awesome wavy hair 😎
i never use a curling iron lol.. For years i've always just done 2 french/dutch braids with damp hair, then leave it in over night, and those curls the next day are always amazing to me :) i don't even use hairspray to keep it curled because it usually just stays like that for a few hours
My mom used to curl my hair in rag curls when I was a little girl. It's done with cut strips of material. You end up with ringlet curls. Take a section of hair (less hair for tight curl, more hair for a looser ringle or curlt) start at the bottom if hair and wrap around material strip to hairline, tie in a loose but stable knott. It's very easy to sleep on and the curls really last. The pink bobbin type curlers probably create the same curl. Would love to see you try the rag curl method. I bet you'd really see some strong curls. It foes take a while to dry, but can be done with damp hair too. OK, the blue noodles are pretty much like doing a rag curl. A rag curl however would be a little bit tighter as you're tying it in an actual knot. You also don't need to worry about not having purchased enough curlers.
I'm going to say this because it changed my heatless curl plan for life. SOCK CURLS. My hair is too long for all of the store bought options I've found to work well, so when i want more than french braid waves, socks work the best. There are different techniques, but my favorite is I take the sock, wrap a chunk of hair down it with the toes of the sock at the top, and then I hold the ends in place while I fold the rest of the sock up over the curl. Grab a hair tie and fasten the sock closed, and repeat for the rest of your head. They're cheap, easy, fast, and your hair stays in the sock so nothing unravels in your sleep. You can use whatever size sock you need to for your length of hair, and they're much more comfortable to sleep on than most options. I've also found that they give me the most consistent results, no matter how wet my hair starts out. Just putting it out there. Sock curls are up there right next to braids. Sorry for the long explanation.
I’m Hispanic and I always knew what to do if I wanted a certain kind of curls and those she did with the braids brought memories, I’m happy she liked it!😊
As someone that often sleeps with my hair in a Plait, I'm not surprised to see the Braids worked -- If you can't French braid try plaits, they're easier.
@@notaclue822 So over here when we talk about a plait we typically mean one where you don't add in hair as you go. You start with the amount of hair you want to use. Where a braid you start from the top of the head and add in more hair as you go. I'm in Australia I don't know if that is the reason for the distinction. From as far as I've seen in 25+ years people will use Plait for the one that doesn't add as you go, and French Braid or Braid for the version that does.
The pool noodle is my favorite 😩 but yes order a lot so you can have fuller curls and the curls last longer when using smaller sections and wrap it all the way to the top with using the hair mousse and really let it dry and mamas it will come out beautiful!
I think they're pretty soft and cushiony... as somebody with the biggest nest of frizzy, tight curls, I've slept in hard plastic curlers before to get my hair LESS curly (believe it or not) and that is not fun
I have those and they are super annoying to sleep with (in my opinion). I usually have to wake up in the middle of the night and just take them out cause it hurts.
I literally used to curl my hair with like kitchen paper/kitchen towels (idk what it's called in english) when I wanted corkscrew-like-curls and sleep in it 🤣 idk I could have the most ridiculous stuff in my hair and I would still be able to sleep. But god forbid there is a tiny light on in a otherwise dark room now THAT would bug me 🤣
@@pingoo9680 U should do it as gently as you can and brush the hair starting from the bottom, making your way to the top, this helps to untangle tangles more easily.
Omg that's literally me. Cuz I have natural curly hair but it is so random and weird and frizzy so I'm gonna have to use heat to straighten it anyways XD
My hair’s curly It’s frizzier when I blow dry it. It’s also straighter when I repeatedly dry and brush it until it’s not wet. It’s curlier when it dries naturally and frizzier when I use a hair dryer. Rn it’s a curly mess because it hasn’t been brushed 😳😬🤫
Hi Mia 💕 for the “TikTok” robe curls, you actually need about 20 strips and you place them all over your head. You should watch @scarlettohair ‘s tutorials on it! It works really well! I love you ❤️ 💕
For people who want ring curls and have VERY long hair: as someone with hair about 34 inches long this is what i recently learned works for me. Rag curls. There are two methods. One is taking shorter strips of cloth, wrapping it up like old fashion curlers (or like the pop socket things that she tried), and tying the ends of the cloth in a knot. I tend to pin them to my head as well just for extra security. This has spiral curls that are a little looser. The other is taking long strips of cloth. Tightly coiling the hair down the cloth, then wrapping the rest of the cloth back up the coil and tying the ends together. This makes much smaller ringlets and when you break them apart your hair is SO beautifully curly. Both have tutorials online, but either way, the prep makes all the difference for success or failure. I almost find it easier to start with dry hair, then take a spray bottle to get it just barely damp. I saw online somewhere that using sea salt water helps curls hold better and figured might as well try. While I didn't conduct a full experiment, since I was putting the rags in after a shower I didn't spray the first few pieces I put up, and they held SO MUCH WORSE then the ones that i sprayed with the sea salt water. I read that mousse does the same thing, but I haven't tried it so can't recommend it's success. I did this for a show (lots of movement and had to last like 10 hours) and they basically didn't fall out at all.
Several of the things she tried really do the same thing. I'm just cheap and don't want to buy things 😂. So I preferred cutting up old t-shirts instead
Yes Mia!!! I use rod curlers (the blue pool noodles) almost every night on my hair and I love them!! My hair is about shoulder length, so the curls come out a little looser, but beautiful!!! I still have not been able to get the robe tie to look nice though ... 🤣🤣🤣

@@lavishgoblin hahaha I know I am too lazy to do it thats the thing. And when I want to do it I go “ugh, why do so much work. No one will see it anyways”. I should stop with that mindset tho😂
@@Aelanin show your mom! she may hype you up and that makes it WORTH It
@@thegillmachine thats actually a really good idea☺️🥺
also, if you want waves like the first one, you can just put all of your hair in a few braids while it’s wet or damp. it has a more crisp result, and it’s usually faster (depending on your hair length and thickness)
Most of these heatless curls techniques work better on totally dry hair overnight. A little hairspray through the mid lengths and ends and wrap and you'll get a beautiful curl/wave.
I’ve been doing the robe one for months now and it works so well for me and I get the most amazing bouncy curls🤩 never going back to a curling iron
The “pool noodles” are called Flexi Rods ❤️
Not all heroes wear capes❤️
Ok im gonna get it
I'm just want to properly inform you those "flexi rods" are called perm rods and was literally invented and patent by black people in the 60's.
It's good to know that I am not the only one failing with some techniques xD
Thank you!
Is nobody gonna say Mia looks like the princess in Tangled with that pink top? 😍😍😍
was literally taking to my friend today about how to do this and then a notification of your video appears😍
Me, a bald woman, watching a hair tutorial because it's MIA FREAKIN MAPLES🤣💕
Got curly 4 type hair but just here for the content
I was asleep when I woke up from a sound.... I was gonna turn off my Wi-Fi, then I saw Mia's notification.... I. Am. Wide. Awake
Literally laughed out loud at the first dryer application 😹 this is great! I’ve been confused about what type of wave/curl tool to buy so thank you!
The braid will never fail. That was my first thought when this video started!
I’m in love with those last curls!!
Mia: I don’t do anything with my hair because I’m lazy.
Also Mia: Spends time recording and editing amazing videos
i never use a curling iron lol..
The "pool noodles " method is my favorite, I've been using it for years on waist length hair, never been disappointed with it
I'm going to say this because it changed my heatless curl plan for life.
To the 1% reading this have a wonderful day and stay safe!💜

As someone that often sleeps with my hair in a Plait, I'm not surprised to see the Braids worked -- If you can't French braid try plaits, they're easier.
I thought they were the same thing. What is a plait if it isn't a braid?
The first technique’s results made you look like a Princess, especially when you pinned back those two front strands! I can’t explain it
I can barely sleep with my nose stud in, IMAGINE sleeping in those hair noodles
I think they're pretty soft and cushiony... as somebody with the biggest nest of frizzy, tight curls, I've slept in hard plastic curlers before to get my hair LESS curly (believe it or not) and that is not fun
I have those and they are super annoying to sleep with (in my opinion). I usually have to wake up in the middle of the night and just take them out cause it hurts.
Better than the curlers on the plastic rods. I practically grew up sleeping in curlers. 😳
I literally used to curl my hair with like kitchen paper/kitchen towels (idk what it's called in english) when I wanted corkscrew-like-curls and sleep in it 🤣 idk I could have the most ridiculous stuff in my hair and I would still be able to sleep. But god forbid there is a tiny light on in a otherwise dark room now THAT would bug me 🤣
I’m honestly surprised how her hair is so bea and healthy after seeing how she’s brushing it 😭
Wait this is making me question how I’m brushing my hair 😳😳 what is she doing wrong
@@pingoo9680 Brushing your hair is a big reason for hair falling out, when you do it roughly you are straining the hair and pulling on it too much.
@@pingoo9680 U should do it as gently as you can and brush the hair starting from the bottom, making your way to the top, this helps to untangle tangles more easily.
@@thetiredworm2100 thank you so much for responding and the good advice!
And comb it first while wet rather than brushing while wet, that’s awful

Me having natural curly hairs, ironing them then doing heatless curls just like an idiot 😂😂😂😂
Wow 👏
mmy hair is soo frizzy
Omg that's literally me.
Cuz I have natural curly hair but it is so random and weird and frizzy so I'm gonna have to use heat to straighten it anyways XD
My hair’s curly
It’s frizzier when I blow dry it. It’s also straighter when I repeatedly dry and brush it until it’s not wet.
It’s curlier when it dries naturally and frizzier when I use a hair dryer.
Rn it’s a curly mess because it hasn’t been brushed 😳😬🤫
Same😂
Me having my head shaved and incapable of doing any of these rn: still watching 19 minutes of Mia doing it for entertainment
Hi Mia 💕 for the “TikTok” robe curls, you actually need about 20 strips and you place them all over your head. You should watch @scarlettohair ‘s tutorials on it! It works really well!
I love you ❤️ 💕
Scarlett uses 2 robe cords not 20 lol because of the length and amount of hair she has. You can use just one also leave your hair down not in buns.
When I was little (years ago lol) we used to use rags and do them all over your head.
It's so sweet that you had your mom French braid your hair!
Mia at 2:26: Is this a good video
Me having watched 2:26 of the video: yes, you're Mia, do you even have to ask?
Mia: "This is the way"
Me: MIA IS A MANDOLORIAN CHANGE MY MIND
Yes Mia!!! I use rod curlers (the blue pool noodles) almost every night on my hair and I love them!! My hair is about shoulder length, so the curls come out a little looser, but beautiful!!! I still have not been able to get the robe tie to look nice though ... 🤣🤣🤣
The flexi rod curls with the pink shirt are giving my major rapunzel vibes 👑

when did we stop calling them perm rods? like do we not acknowledge the patent on that name anymore
@@sevonalexander3653 to me perm rods are the hard plastic ones with the elastic and the little peg to secure. I've always known these foam ones as flexi-rods. 🤷🏽♀️
