It is really heartening to see a young man just OWN his space! You have a plan, you have skills, you are growing them, AND you are taking care of your part of the planet. Man, you are an example to us all. Half a million subs coming up soon!
I read the entire Ryan's ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxGqOCINHE0Z0E5gxzSdNi9NWGugRY5Hm2 Plans and was able to make a shed plan. Using Ryan's Shed Plans alone, the shed itself is great. Back at the beginning of the pandemic when I started watching your channel I would not have believed that you would be where you are today, with a tractor and a machine shop a woodshop and a house and an electricity building and hydroelectric and solar and chickens and a greenhouse and mill and and and... You have done so well for yourself! Always a pleasure to see a new video from you, Kris!
And here I was on a Friday afternoon feeling a sense of accomplishment for baking bread...and you come along and mill 25 tons of timber. :D Just kidding of course -- well done and thanks for another vid!
Hi Kris, all of your videos no matter what they are about, are great. They're actually very relaxing to watch, almost therapeutic. Keep up the good work. Take care and stay safe.
I always find myself smiling from ear to ear when watching you work outside. I can’t do too much heavy labor anymore,I’ll be 68 next month and I am a great grandmother. I was/am a registered nurse when I worked. But when I was home I loved working outside. I always helped my Dad,brothers and husband with any work they had to do. Daddy took me everywhere with him when I was little, made a major tomboy out of me. Love watching you work!!! God bless you and yours!!!!
I spent the past few months binging my way through all the videos on this channel. This is the first video I had to wait to come out. I have to say I've never been so excited to watch someone cut wood for 37 min.
After a week of working my arse off, there's nothing more satisfying than watching Kris work his arse off. The difference is that I've been pushing corporate pixels around all week and Kris has actually accomplished something of real value.
It just warms my heart to watch you work. And hear you talk threw your thought process. I really hope you doing well. We’re still dealing with horrible inflation caused by criminals in banking and government.
Hey mate, when splitting your firewood. Get an old tyre sit it on top of your splitting block and pack the inside of the tyre with the wood you want to split and go for it. The wood stays in the tyre and you don’t have to bend over to pick up bits every time you split it, saves the back.👍🏻😊
You don't know it yet Kris but as I've said before, if the zombie apocalypse starts, you are my best mate in the whole of the world..😂🤣😂😂😂. One of the best channels on You Tube. 👏❤️👏👏👍👍
You are nothing short of brilliant Kris. I have no doubt you will be even more wonderful to watch once you get all your solid infrastructure in place. Looking forward to watching your get there.

You have to be the most versatile, practical, resourceful, hardworking and forward-looking person I've ever seen on UA-cam. If you didn't have it, you research it, then built it, learnt from your mistakes and the fixed them. Thank you for pursing your dream and all the hard work and struggling you've put in over the years - and for sharing your 'family's' journey along the way. I'd recommend anyone to watch his videos from the start - from a flat in London, building a wind-turbine in his backyard and lock-up garage to living in a tent on a wet and windy hillside in Wales for a month on his own... You're a very clever bloke Kris and I've loved watching your dream evolve over the years.

Reminds me of our wood cutting project 3 years ago. We got a huge load of old utility poles made of yellow and red cedar that we cut into beams and planks. We now have a beautiful fence around our farm, a new pergola, 4 picnic tables and matching benches, along with years worth of assorted cedar boards for home projects! The best part is the wood was free. It was old utility poles removed from a desert power line that would have been burned by the utility had we not offered to take the wood!

Hello from Canada 🇨🇦! Just starting to watch this barn building series now. I admire your persistence and determination in milling all those timbers! Well done!
Hi Kris, Id never heard of your channel until yesterday, but because I’ve been looking at timber frame buildings UA-cam suggested your channel. Boy am I pleased, I’m absolutely glued to this, it suggested video 8 of the build, but I’ve started from video 1 because I am absolutely loving this, thank you for sharing all what you’re doing it’s amazing. also you don’t sound like you’re from Wales you sound like you are from our part of the world, Essex. 😂

You almost need a deck over the tire for turning the logs. My old neighbor's mill was in a barn he built for it. Which had a small chamber under the mill for the saw dust. The mill sat on a lip which you could get down in the cavity to level and adjust the bed. The load side had a set of kind rail tracks in a cavity that you could open the door and slide out the carriage and with a tractor load the carriage. Then pushing it in to the shop it would arrive right next to the mill and it was at the correct height and you just pulled the log stops and rolled the log on to the mill. The standing and walking side was all concrete this was the side to which you would put all of the cut wood and using a old fork lift could move it about in that side of the building. The mill side was on the down slop of the area which is how it was dug down yet still came out levelish. I kind wish he had a small exavator or make some sort of thing to grapple the logs with from the pile would have made for a faster day. Yet in the summer it was cooler than outside and in the winter it was warmer inside by just burning all of the scraps and sawdust.
I really enjoy watching your videos, They are so real and interesting. Your honesty is outstanding and that you do not edit out when things go wrong. A person can learn so much from you. I hope you never get tired of showing the rest of us what you are doing everyday. Thank You Kris.
I was thinking of your mobile milling machine and wished there was a fleet of 200 of those guys to mill all the fallen timber after tornados (southeast U.S. most recently in the news). People could at least benefit from the catastrophe if they could use their own trees to rebuild. Or sell the lumber. In any case, a traveling army of capable lumber millers running mobile millers and flatbeds with attached Moffett lifts would sure be the ticket.
Watching you milling is somehow calming to me. You have a rhythm in your method & voice which sets this listener at ease. Your work ethic is admirable and your outlook is too.
There is one slight time saving modification I’d add to the mobile sawmill and that is to cut the bottom off the bucket and clip a sack to it so it requires fewer trips emptying it. It’s just so satisfying to watch this being used having seen it built from scratch and knowing every cut is saving you an absolute fortune. Just demonstrates that being rich is all in the mind and character. You may have moments when you’re “not so bright sometimes” but it’s not easy most the time being a genius. 😂 If you put your mind to it, and put in the hard work you can build almost anything! I take great inspiration from this in my own life, which is very challenging daily doing basic tasks because I have EDS which disables me, but by clever work around I get things done eventually. One day I will also build a building or two, with such inspiration from my favourite UA-cam channel! I’m sure of that! Also, as someone who’s just learning to make videos, I love how “no frills” this channel is and we get on down to work in each video. Hi Kris, it’s good to see you getting stuck into large dimensional timber rather being at war with Land Rover and Mitsubishi. Regards to you both, Pete. Australia.
Have you ever considered making a shed/building to hold your mill? One side would be open with an overhanging roof so you can mill while it's raining. LOL, I just went back and watched Part 1 and I had forgotten the mill goes inside. Great video series.
You'd be surprised about the content, I could watch that mill all day lol. Need to get one just to sell lumber and for the satisfaction of watching it run

The quality of lumber you are using on the project sure is good. You are getting real nice logs to work with.

Nice video Kris. You're literally the only channel I watch and make sure I watch all the adverts all the way through so you get paid for your content. I envy your life. Keep up the good work 👏
Thank you very much! I did enjoy this video. Enjoy the milling and hearing you explain about the wood being cut. Hope you get those timbers covered before the next rain. Stay safe and warm.
Looking happy and well despite the cold weather. Great work and very inspirational for us mortals. Keep up the good work.
Nothing to comment on this week. Just helping the algorithm along. Cheers Kris.
You’re an inspiration for anyone who is wondering if they can make the off grid lifestyle work for themselves. Keep up the good work. 😃
