About The Fugitive:
Harrison Ford and Oscar-winner Tommy Lee Jones race through this breathless manhunt movie based on the classic television series of the Sixties. Ford is prison escapee Dr. Richard Kimble, a Chicago surgeon falsely convicted of killing his wife and determined to prove his innocence by leading his pursuers to the one-armed man who actually committed the crime.
Jones, who also picked up the Golden Globe, is Sam Gerard, an unrelenting bloodhound of a U.S. Marshal. They are hunted and hunter. And as directed by Andrew Davis, their nonstop chase has one exhilarating speed: all-out.
So catch him if you can. And catch an 11-on-a-scale-of-10 train wreck (yes, the train is real), a plunge down a waterfall, a cat-and-mouse jaunt through a Chicago St. Patrick's Day parade and much more.
Better hurry. Dr. Richard Kimble doesn't stay in one place very long!

3:46 Millhouse voice: “My glasses!”
Lol
“I’m telling you, I didn’t do anything!”
“I don’t care!”
The Simpsons Fugitive Parody with Milhouse was one of the most brilliant and best things that has ever happened on The Simpsons and To this day, Milhouse jumping off the waterfall dam was absolutely hilarious. 😂
And then Nightboat got him
That was genius!
"He's dead."
"That'll make him easy to catch." 😂
Love that! I thought the 'Peter Pan' line was funny, and he comes back with this.
What a great set piece. I feel dizzy just watching them stand on the edge looking down.
Textbook example of a non-villainous antagonist
'There's no way out of this place...'
With there could have been more of these films about Sam Gerard and his U.S. Marshall's team.
Everyone expected Feinns to win for Schindler's List. But this proved that a quippy fast talking character in a seemingly regular action movie could always take the spoils.
It was the “I don’t care” that caught my memory.
It's been said over the years that TLJ improvised "I don't care" instead of saying "Why should it be my problem?"
best movie tommy lee jones sir and harrison

Great line, but not a great delivery on rewatch.
Spanish
"Are you out of your mind!? Hes dead!" "Well then that'll make him easier to catch" 😂
Gerard’s dogged determination is a highlight of this film. While everyone else assumes Kimble couldn’t have survived the train wreck or the dive into the spillway, Gerard needs to see the body to be sure.
“He’s fish food”
“Go get the fish that ate him” 😂
@bratton79, to be fair, by all rights, shouldn't have survived any of those and should have been ended 10 times over, minimum.
"He's"
"I don't care", is the perfect line for the character. His job was to apprehend, nothing else...
Exactly.
Typical government puppy
@@LIGIERJS111979 wow, there is always someone.
The film skips over it but the fact that Richard doesn’t shoot the Marshal starts to make him think he’s innocent.
I love the look on Gerrard's face when he says that. Almost like he's both shocked and irritated someone confused him with a caring person.
It's rare for an action thriller to be nominated for 7 Oscars.
Absolutely
A fairly dry sweater is also rare after rummaging through a sewer.
It’s a thinking man’s action thriller, sure the stakes are high and there’s terrific thrills from the game of cat and mouse, but both of the main characters have honourable characteristics and both independently try to put the puzzle pieces together to solve the mystery as the story goes along.
Of course we all want Kimble to flee and solve the mystery but we also want Gerard to be on his tail whilst also finally understanding how Kimble is innocent.
One of the best of the 90’s!!
4:02 “Guy did a Peter Pan right here off of this dam right here” 😂😂😂
That was a dam?
I think it is the drainage system for the roadway adjacent to the dam.@@seanwebb605
@@seanwebb605 looks like a hydro-dam or something like that
@@M.R.BrickFilms I don't remember nearly enough of the movie to remember how he got in there in the first place. I thought he had entered a storm drain. Wasn't he in Chicago? Does Chicago have a hydro-electric dam nearby?
Hmmm....it seems like the scene is after the train derailment and he escapes. I'll have to go down a few rabbit holes now.
This movie is such a simple premise. I do not understand how Hollywood is incapable of making movies like this anymore
Because they focus on DEI and CGI. We’ll never have films like this or The Hunt for the Red October ever again.
My siblings went to see "Robin Hood: Men in Tights" with their friends, but I chose to watch "The Fugitive" alone and enjoyed it.
You chose wisely.
Sounds like you both made the right choice
The best choice would have been for all of you to double feature.
@@Alakaizerthey had no desire to see it
I would have joined you
Kimble : I thought you didnt care
Gerard : I dont 😂, Dont tell anybody okay
(Last scene in the car)
Tommy Lee Jones was absolutely incredible in this movie. Well deserved Oscar
Ralph Fiennes was robbed.
In this movie and the sequel, I have to agree with you.
He was even better in the sequel, "US Marshals".
Wasn't US Marshalls the one with the pathetic cokehead loser Robert Downey Jr.?
Me: I love you as Two-Face in Batman Forever
Tommy: I don’t care
Tommy is famously _REALLY_ unkind to his fans. He hates their guts lol
@@visionist7 I'm sure, Tommy will come around to liking his fans eventually

"Why haven't they turned off the water yet?!" I wish they put that line in.

Milhouse: I'm telling you, I'm innocent!
US Marshall: I don't care!
*Jumps off dam*
Milhouse: My glasses!
Poor Milhouse
My glasses!!😂😂
i don't get it@@davidwyllie8539
I love how he doesn’t even try to jump in any sensible way. He just throws himself.
There’s no way anyone would survive a fall leaping aggressively like that, the idea is apparently to tighten your body up and go feet first, then swim immediately away once you’re in the water.
@@andrewburgemeister6684 cross your arms and make yourself as streamlined as possible to minimise the impact. And above all, pucker your sphincter tight to avoid massive internal damage
as iconic of a scene this is, it was the least believable. i don't know if anyone's attempted to prove surviving such a fall, and i reckon it's probably not that deep so close to the dam, but like the one bloke said, he's dead. 🤔
@@shuriKen469 It's not the fall that kills you, its the contact impact of the water falling on you. You will get stuck in the stream at the bottom of the river and suffocate to death.
@@AllenHanPR 100% true. The weight of the water presses down on you, and your instinct is to swim straight up against the pressure....which will not work. Your only chance is to gather the presence of mind to allow the water pressure to push you along until you have something solid to grab or a floor to push off from...away from the stream pressure.
“I thought you said you didn’t care.
I don’t.
Just don’t tell anybody 😉”.
He just left his primary at the drain's edge 😂😂
He doesn't care...lol
Probably went over the edge. It was being pushed by the current and was by Kimball’s foot when he turned to kneel. So I imagine it must’ve been swept over the edge when Kimball jumped.
Or the director forgot to instruct Tommy Lee Jones to pick it up and nobody noticed or thought about the detail.
Either way Gerard would’ve gotten reamed in the Captains office for losing his duty weapon after having it taken by a suspect. 😂
Maybe he wants to see if Kimble's finger prints match.
Tommy Lee Jones (The Fugitive, Batman, Men in Black) and Harrison Ford (The Fugitive, Star Wars, Indiana Jones) were a great duo in this movie
It’s definitely a better line than what was originally written, and Tommy Lee Jones sure gave it his best!
According to the original draft, Jones’s line was supposed to be “That’s not my problem.” and he didn’t agree with it, so he came up with “I don’t care!”
Fit the character way better
Once upon a time Hollywood told great stories that were thrilling to watch.
People didn't complain in those days when studios adapted classic television or old movies into modern versions for a new audience.
@Mike-ockYou mean crazy Atheist
Imagine this made by Disney now.
@@lewisner Imagine not understanding the concept of demographics
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is one of those films.
Truly a classic film! Brilliant performances all around!! 👌👌💪
It's hard to find a flaw in this near perfect film
He's not supposed to care. His job is bring him back, after that, his mission is done. Period.
But towards the end he did care I personally believe that Jared knew that Kimball was innocent all the time!
@@rashad051402 Yup.
He could still care and do his job.
@@rashad051402 Not quite. Gerard doesn't start to change his mind on Kimball until the hospital scene, when he learns that Kimball went out of his way to save the life of the boy. Afterward, this causes him to investigate the case further and that's when he learns what was really going on. (He did have some suspicions early on because he already met the one-armed man previously, but the hospital scene made it clear Kimball was no killer).
I have pneumonia but I'm getting to appreciate this movie it's called The fugitive I'm watching it right now and channel 11 on the AMC channel at the hospital. Smiles I love Tommy Lee Jones
I hope you recover quickly and get to watch this many more times.
This movie was superb for its time . Still great flick to watch from time to time .
Ooooooh my glasses!
"I don't care" was not in the early script and Kimble was suppose to jump off of Niagara Falls after getting caught trying to cross the Rainbow bridge. I wonder if the screenplay was revised by the writer or if the director made the changes.
Apparently the screenplay wasn’t even finished when they started filming and they had to rewrite stuff on the set!
It turned out great for how chaotic the film’s production was!
That's a great movie. Tommy Lee Jones and Harrison Ford were both great in that movie. I know that it's just a movie. If that was real, there's no way of him surviving that jump. I thought it was something how that movie ended. Great movie. Thanks 👍.
He "REALLY" doesn't.....................until the end. 😊 I love this old film...have the dvd and still throw it in every now and then. Never gets old! 👍👍👍
You look at the angle of the dam wall and you realise he would have been dead on impact. No way he even reaches the water alive.
It scares me this movie will be 31 years old this summer. I remember seeing this in the theater on opening night.
Twice.
Was it packed? Also did they use curtains to narrow the screen for the 1:85 picture

0:14 When you finally wear your Chuck Taylors
Supposed to be a serious scene but three US Marshalls are trying to find their way out of a dam is pretty funny.
It's clever because it establishes the marshalls as protagonists too by making us "vibe" with them
Never understood why in a tunnel with the fugitive in front of you TLJ’ marshal walks with his back up firearm pointed to the wall.
He knew Kimble wasn’t a threat…I guess.
So you can see he has a gun, I guess.
Clearly Sam did not think Kimble was going to shoot him when he could have. Sam / TLJ also does not shoot him at 3:08 when Kimble turns around and many would have just for that sudden turn. I think even legally speaking it would be justified cause in a sudden turn like that Sams life is in danger in with other criminals.
Kind of weird watching Two-Face chase Han Solo
Also weird seeing Ralph Cifaretto with a beard and real hair
Colonel Phillips chasing President Ross. (MCU)

If Richard Kimble was trying to proclaim he was innocent in this scene, pointing a gun at a U.S. Marshal trying to capture him doesn't help.
The funny thing is that at the end, Gerard DOES care, but only enough to bring Kimble out of hiding and back into custody. Kimble proves his innocence, and Gerard gets his man. A win-win scenario.

3:40 I have to admit, but I always find that jump hilariously funny. A Peter Pan jump like that in real life isn't possible. If you're in a situation like that, never ignore an U.S. Marshal. Otherwise, other doctors won't save Kimble from that jump.
Where does a waterfall like this exist in southern Illinois? Or did he go southeast to the Appalachian mountains? Definitely not Starved Rock in northern IL.
Apparently a lot of the dialog of Tommy Lee Jones and his underlings was improvised.
Harrison Ford is my favorite actor. I met him in Lincoln NE at a coffee shop before the NU vs MU game in 2011. Just a regular nice guy.
You're lucky you didn't meet Tommy Lee Jones instead. He's openly hostile to his fans in public. A shame but that's how he is and we all have to respect it I guess
But anyone without his talent would not get away with it
