How is this good micro? He lost the tank. He lost the ghost. He lost the firebat. The battlecruiser was attacking the interceptors. All of this is terrible micro, which is why he lost all his units and had nothing to defend his base with.
So, a minimap with a grid like structure, wherein each grid corresponds with a single 2D plane.. That sounds like it could be pretty brilliant. Inspiring indeed. o:
+DaemonEX0 You'd need to automate things like resourcing and expanding(Which would be easier given each screen is it's own thing), but yeah. I can see it. Although....if you can't control what units target, and resourcing/expanding is semi-automatic, then much of the game is lost. The game would be more like the old game 'Mega-Lo-Mania'.
I knew there was someone else out there that had played this game! My uncle said it was a really limited release, it's just a matter of finding the other people that played it.
This parody is brilliant. It looks like it could also be a fun game if it were available. What I would really love to see is a fan recreation of what StarCraft originally was going to look and play like. Basically, it was going to play and look like space version of WarCraft II, but I still want to see how it would play.
@@RealLargeManTheGiantOne Not true. It was Warcraft that was supposed to be a Warhammer (Fantasy) game but where things fell through. Starcraft was meant to be its own IP from the outset
I've no idea. I can honestly come back here every other day to see brand new people who don't know how to read and start trolling them. It's like my own private stock pond.
Are you serious mate? Like really.. N64 was 64 bit mate , had amazing graphics, this is like playing the baddest graphical game on the NES, or playing a Atari 2600 game.
Amazing job! Very well represented! And is rightly said: back then, all video games' CPUs were 8-Bit processors, until the 16-Bit era with Genesis, TurboGrafx, SNes... So, if existed, this game would have been a huge sucess on Atari VCS (2600) and ColecoVision generation! :-)
the game does exist because it's RIGHT HERE IN THE VIDEO. 1984 was a long time ago, but this game is very vivid in my memory. i distinctly remember the tanks, the marines, the zealots, battlecruisers etc... it was one of my favourite games as a kid.
I love this idea. I know it has been about two months or so since you mentioned it, so I do not know if you have started or given up on it, yet, but if you do make anything like this, please let us know when it is finished and how we may play it! I am a big fan of retro-style gaming.
i remember playing this game as a kid in the late 80s. it seems so bad now compared to the newer RTS games, but back in the day, this game was awesome.

I wanna try and actually Code this for the Apple IIe now... I think I can do this as a block/grid matrix and have it store scenes in each block with preset locations for building sprites. ie: build base it puts it on a frame/scene, move to another block you have a different building just like here. Moving forward and backwards would just require characters to face or turn away from the scene to load the next frame rather than limiting to left and right movement.
that'd be the best 8-bit game ever xD the protoss should be able to meet the zerg from the other side though, other wise terran would be in the middle and it'd be unfair. great vid ^^
StarCraft NES Units: Marine, Ghost, Siege Tank, Wraith, Battlecruiser, Zergling, Hydralisk, Ultralisk, Overlord, Mutalisk, Zealot, Dragoon, Reaver, Scout, Carrier. There are very few units due to limitations.
It's so weird to me that the ataris single color sprites and blipping sounds is 8 bit, when Nintendo had things like Mario 3 that was also 8-bit and had more complicated sprites and even the recorded sound of a steel drum.
OMG!! I could actually see the high res textures and high count of polygons! Is there a La Linea unit in this? :J LOL the carrier looks like a sad HomeStarRunner with three eyes :G
this is not just some video editing, although its just some novelty nostalgia thing you can buy for like 15 dlls, there is 8bis biohazard, diablo, starcarft, call of duty i think and a few more ... there are actual physical games with theyr cool looking retro label and everithing... google for them
This is obviously fake. The original StarCraft was released for the Sumerian Abacus in 2700 BC, and it's still one hell of a game.
+Andros2709 You can still play the sandbox version on the Tablet and Clay Stylus.
Andros2709 No shit sherlock
Andros2709 so fucking hilarius hahahaha!!!
Andros2709 it's parody!
Rush and that was a sarcasm!
Good micro, bad macro
How is this good micro? He lost the tank. He lost the ghost. He lost the firebat. The battlecruiser was attacking the interceptors. All of this is terrible micro, which is why he lost all his units and had nothing to defend his base with.
Tank got killed bc he got busy on macro
Obviously, he didn't have the Yamato installed on the bc
Bad*
Plus, ik why he lost. He only had 1 scv the whole game.
Not at all, is a great macro
fucking protoss overpower even in 8 bits
Yeaaa Protossssssssssssssssss
Final Fantasy unbalanced
Are you Terran ?
How is Protoss over powered? LOL
Did you not see the science vessel for the Terrans? That was incredibly OP if it was used correctly.
Nothing was overpowered. The game was perfectly balanced. If you don't know that then you never got deep enough into the game.
wish my pc could play this
That's actually a surprisingly good guess on how Starcraft would have looked in 1984 (on a Spectrum or Sharp computer)! Looks very authentic :)

I love how they translated both the Z rush and the P deathball.
oh yeah, Z-RUSh)
That’s a bit unfair
Not enough memory for this game.
CONSTRUCT ADDITIONAL PYLONS
Protoss still tough back then
I love the sound marins do when they walk
Starcraft -1
can't believe some of you would think this was real because of a description
especially when it shows the credits at the end lol
+Seth Minter
Especially since the NES looks a hell a lot nicer than this.
This is more like.. Beyond NES!
ikr lmfao
But people believe what the media says because the media says it so no surprise
Kin3sisCurt imagination shit face.
When that '1984' beat drops at 3:25
+Aiden MacIver haha have my like sir!
I wouldve believed this was real, if it wasnt for the end of the video credits and how smoothly it played
Its not real ist only animation created by fan.
+burkosalw thats what i said
Seth Minter yes
I fell for it when I was younger cause I didn't watch the end
Christ this is amazing and i can't even begin to imagine how much time it must have taken to make this.Great job man.
Imagine trying to stutter step in this game.
dood this is so crazy, I haven't seen this game since I was a kid!!! We used to go to the mall and spend pockets of quarters on this game!
I don't know what is funnier. The awesome video or the comments.
Mikey The Black we all know the comments!
Of course it's fake it was for entertainment and it was entertaining
Read the description
@@themorrigan3673 read the credits

The protoss player was Korean.... so the terran player was lost.
Owen Dennis used to be a regular on a forum I visited a lot and he often posted funny animations and artwork there. Now he has his own page on IMDB.
lol im curious, what was the forum?
That was pretty cool! A well made animation for sure.
That sound those marines make when they move around is just adorable :>
Wow, you really had me going until the credits screen. I was nearly convinced that this was real. Well played sir!

It would play like Warcraft 2, so it would probably feel like crap
@@RealLargeManTheGiantOne Not true. It was Warcraft that was supposed to be a Warhammer (Fantasy) game but where things fell through. Starcraft was meant to be its own IP from the outset
De-makes are popular these days, they got a whole Final Fantasy VII on NES, so you never know.

this game require a 1000 apm player to be played!

apm?!?!
It's a footage of esport pro gamer so I guess it might be aproximately 10100 apm
Yes sir! It's Kenny McCormick.
8 apm pro player mad skillz
I could have believed this if not for the fact that Blizzard was founded in 1991 and the description very clearly says otherwise.
People believe some random dude with a fancy grammar and a description as an excuse? Humanity id dying.
Don't worry man I will protect you
He is not talking he is ranting. Internet is made of 2 things son : angry dicks and naked chicks. This guy is obviously in the former category.
What is he ranting about?
They are ranting about the description of the video, which obviously isn't true dunno how someone would believe that.
I remember having this game on my commodore 64 ah, the memories
I LOVE the sound effects! :D
toss op as usual
Your micro needs a little work =)
Macro, micro was quite fine
@@tomaszurbanowicz1559 you got that reversed but ok.
This is really goddamn well done
Just pure brilliance, thanks mate! Been playing SC/SC2 for over 1 decade, never knew about this!
holy shit, this is an amazing edit thing
I would so buy this game if it was fully functional and on Steam. Would want to man more hours than on any battle.net game save D2. : )
But Blizzard formed in 1991, how is that possible, well it's an indie game! :)
You didn't get it, owner video is joking

The N64 does have a Starcraft port that was pretty good for its time.

This...is... AMAZING
@Vedaulios Yes, but at the time I believe they were called Lurklings.
@wsiloveoov They did. starcraft was originaly a warcraft clone but was changed into what it was on release
Great job with the animation I love it and the idea

im inclined to believe so. also i saw a lurker there and lurkers weren't introduced until the exp for SC1 brood war
that'd be the best 8-bit game ever xD
the protoss should be able to meet the zerg from the other side though, other wise terran would be in the middle and it'd be unfair.

It's the same thing every time; the Protoss sneak in while you're preoccupied with the Zerg and wipe your base out. ;)
Wow. amazing~!
lol, I remember seeing this 10+ years ago. this would be a nightmare to play XD
@braxtino the screen flashed between black and white. you bet it was epic!
Other than the fact the game goes way too smoothly, it does actually look as if it were made in the 80s.
This is freakin' great.
I used to brag that I played the original Starcraft from the release date. Apparently I was wrong by about ten years. Great find dude.
@elasticweed
There was a Starcraft 64 released back in 98, I believe.

you're thinking of the PC remake. im talking about the original starcraft, shown in this video.
That was awsome, i like the look of the tank.
This 8bit tank looks better to me than the SC2 one, which doesn't look like a tank to me, can't help it.
thank goodness you said something, i was about to buy a copy for my old atari...
W00T?! This was a real game?! I thought its merely a fan-made production, not even a game but animation. I'm amazed.
I really hope you're joking here.
I don't.
