When I first time heard Big Country's "Fields of Fire" in 80s I immediately understood that Big Country was my band. I so much hope that Stuart is in heaven now.
Thanks a million for posting. Had this on cassette... Know every note and word played it so much.., great to see the video as never got to before.... Used to picture it as open air festival setting oddly enough....BC were and remain my favourite band.... So much potential that i feel was never realised. Best live band i ever seen. Loved Stuart. Absolute artist. The other three lads are awesome musicians too.
18 years old, had a curfew so had to be back in at 11 on a saturday. Tuned into this German channel. Had the VCR running before the first chorus and rewatched that old betamax to shreds. So nice to get reacquainted now. And that by a fellow Belgian I suspect?
Btw, if you like that piece of music, then you'll find your own favourite rendition of it. 3 of mine are from iona brown, nicola benedetti, and Julia hwang (all found on here). Enjoy.
Right! See my livevideos from big country in ostend in 2022. Marck gave me his artistpass to watch the show on stage. I thanked him for making the Love album so special with his drumming. He told many stories about the recording sessions too😊
The were always good.. but this gig in Germany .. the sound the vocals were on a different level.. they had a big following in Deutschland esp the niederhien nordwestfahlen.. be sure about that
Such a shame that whoever was mixing the sound for the live TV broadcast mix Stuart’s guitar to basically be the typical “singer/rhythm guitar player” level. Stuart was the primary lead guitar player in big country. His leads are way too low in the mix compared to Bruce (and Bruce is amazing) but Stuart should be at least equal level to Bruce if not slightly higher in the mix and having Stuart’s guitar parts buried really affects the big country sound
Stuart really was a force of nature. Fantastic band, that bassist is amazing. Hope you found peace Stuart 💙 Thanks for the music, Sir.
Greatest Band Ever, Love Them For eternity. 😊❤Thanks For This Marvellous Historic Post, Love To The German Audience With Great Taste,
Guess what??😊 everytime i listen to Big Country...i feel i AM IN A BIG COUNTRY🤪😎🤗👌

El mejor grupo escocés... excelente concierto. Desde 🇦🇷
The drummer is unbelievable good, Mark Brzezicki!
and you're very good too Andre..... for getting the spelling of Mark's surname right. Ha!Ha!Ha!. I always try to remember.... Br-ze-zicki. ;-)
God bless you Stuart..Rest well..
Wish I'd seen them live in my town at their prime but they never played here (Pgh)
These Guys were really good.
Yeah, you're so right - the secret concert!!!
That was great. Stuart's voice was in shape, hitting the high notes.

00:51:11 great huge atmosphere if you're ready forvit!!
Mark Brzezicki is a large part of what made the band "the Cult" so great. Timekeeping and tasteful appropriate fills that add to the arrangement
