Matt, I usually love your reviews but it just seems like you were kind of in a bad mood in this one from the start. Dissing the movie, McQueen and classic Mustangs is one thing and you're obviously entitled to your opinion even if it goes against what the majority thinks. But your pricing assessment was a bit off. A comparably equipped Performance Pack 1 GT is only about $800 cheaper, MSRP vs MSRP. Doing the parts through Ford Performance likely will be more expensive and you'd only get their 3 year warranty instead of the full 5 year Ford powertrain warranty. So for $800 more you get 20 extra horsepower, a higher top speed and a few other touches that most people think are pretty cool. Seems like a solid value for even the non-Bullitt fans once the dealer markups go away. A GT350 is 10k more and even at 10k more you still are stuck with a basic radio, basic gauges, and cheaper interior materials than the Bullitt. For those that use these as weekend cars that might not matter, but in a daily driver, some might miss these things. I own a 2019 Bullitt so maybe I'm biased, but your review is the first negative one I've seen.
Motor trend's review is pretty negative, and he didn't say that much negative about dynamics of the car..which are still inferior to it's rivals..but he just expressed negative opinion on the movie and culture behind it. It's pretty normal to not like things and think they are irrelevant (like some of the Dodge trims..or Lamborghini limited edition runs) and talk about it. Guess the Mustang community isn't that intellectual anyway or they'd buy something else.
Matt, I don't have problem with the review of the car per se, and the movie itself was decent for '68 but this line from yopur R&T review: "Even the 12-minute chase, the most iconic film car chase of all time is just not good, especially when compared to the sequences in Ronin or The Transporter" WTF dude? Did you just compare it to movies that came out in 30 years later in 1998 and 2002? Have you got no context of time? The Bullitt chase was absolutely thrilling considering the year it was made.
And Steve drove much of that chase. Saying something about actors today needing a stunt double for every little thing. He may have not been the best actor but he was one hell of a race car driver
Bullet is the iconic chase scene. Yes they looped the film, but they drove it. Ronin is an excellent chase scene with out alot of cg. The Transporter films use tons of cg, just like the Fast and the Furious. I'll rewatch Bullet long before I re watch Transporter of Fast and Furious.
I saw the movie in college and thought it was great. I have been accumulating traffic tickets since.... I might indulge myself for my 70th birthday with this car.
Steve McQueen is an American icon. He served honorably in the Marine Corps. His movies stood the test of time. McQueen was nominated for an Oscar and a 4-time nominee for the Golden Globes. This man was a well-known car enthusiast who participated in motorsports. He had a collection of cars and motorcycles. McQueen slowly and painfully died of cancer in 1980 after desperately trying to find a cure. This man accomplished more in his life than most people. Matt...you never served in the military. You were never nominated for an Oscar or Golden Globe. McQueen will always be relevant and remembered for generations. You will not. Don't be disrespectful.
You're blinded by affection for a person you never met, I'm not and I'm telling you he said nothing disrespectful about mcqueen, you just heard an opinion you didn't like. I haven't seen all his movies but Bullit doesn't stand the test of time, it's a bad movie with a cool car chase.
Bullet movie was never about the mustang....its someone's opinion not to like the movie, but McQueen was an American icon and Bullit is still the best car chase movie above everything else according to polls recently....
Honestly seems like Matt is getting very snobby and bitter. "A man should not wear a shirt with another mans name on it" Then should no one drive a Ford because that was a name? Most things are named after the founder, that is some flawed logic.
I'm pretty sure he was referring to dorks like you who wear Steve McQueen t shirts.. Also, he specifically said Shirt did he not? how do you correlate a shirt to a car?.. my T Shirt says 100% cotton, what does your say dork?
while everyone is entitled to its opinion, I can not shake the fact that seen from here, all I see is a big hairy dude doing cheap youtube videos that trashes the king of cool, 68 mustang and a movie that's still cherished for not only its description of San Fran in the 60s but that really made "car chase" a staple of action movies... all the while pretending loving cars and their history. The irony is strong, and Mcqueen would smile.
Orph3O I disagree. The reason is you obviously watch the video didn’t you? He is giving people content that they want to satisfy their need of a certain car with certain modifications that interest them. And they are entertaining actually. I think you’re just jealous
I think you missed the mark with the bullit comments, Matt. I first saw the bullit chase scene at a smashing pumpkins concert in the late 1990's - and immediately understood. steve McQueen was the coolest and that chase scene is awesome. You don't need to be 60 years old to appreciate either.
Agreed, I can understand not really liking the movie but not seeing it's, and his, cultural relevance even today is a little daft. On that vein one should just ignore all of history because it's all, in this world of "woke", irrelevant.... Plus, surely Steve McQueen gets props for being an actual petrol head actor whether or not you like his films?!
Missed it big time. Unfortunately he made himself look a little dumb when I think he was going for...."I'm so great I'll say what I want, thank you"... but what he said appeals to only his "dumb" viewers.
Steve McQueen represents quintessential Americana even today. The chase scene in 'Bullitt' is still considered one of the greatest amongst film critics. My suggestion is stay away from the cultural critique and stick with the cars.
Bullit movie was never about the mustang....its someone's opinion not to like the movie, but McQueen was an American icon and Bullit is still the best car chase movie above everything else according to polls recently....
Micah The Bullitt car chase was the first of its kind: shot on real streets in real time, with a real actor behind the wheel. It set the standard for movie car chases as we know them today, from The French Connection to Against All Odds to The Fast And The Furious to Baby Driver. We car chase fans oew a great thanks to Steve McQueen; unlike the asshat in this critique.
"A man should never have a shirt with another man's name on it" Cool! I'll make sure to NEVER buy any smoking tire merchandise since that brand was created by you and your name stands behind it :D
John Grytbakk yes, a sweeping judgement of his character based off an honest opinion. Your comment is far worse and stupid than anything Matt said during the video. Stfu.
Eh, laid an egg on this one Matt. The whole review seems quick and forced. Barely spoke about the car and it's features, yeah talked about the intake and the engine is mentioned the trans and at the end "oh third gear has some legs" but the rest was primarily personal monologue. I thought you weren't doing one takes anymore but reviewing cars on a longer term and only ones you thought were interesting? Not going to take sides but will note of the fact you did drag on the demographic that was going to be drawn to your review the most. Not the wisest of ideas there bub.
amagine1 It’s a pretty garbage review compared to the one-takes of old. Not saying I can talk on camera while driving. But goddamn Matt it’s an American V8, learn the facts about the price/specs and lighten up amirite?
amagine1 And his critique of Steve McQueen was in extremely bad taste; and did he rip on the original car??!!! Leave the Bullitt reviews to those who have ten miles more respect!!
I think Matt must have just been in a bad mood. It happens to all of us at times, and sometimes we take it out on whatever's (or whomever's) in range. I mean, Matt's a Mustang guy, and he not only panned the Bullitt franchise, of which this is the third Mustang edition, but also all 1968 Mustangs. All he had to say was, "I'm not a big fan of Steve McQueen or the movie Bullitt, but let's see if this Mustang stands on its own merits..." Which actually would seem more in character to me. One big point he missed, was that the Bullitt is the understated special edition. No wings, no spoilers, no fake diffusers, fake vents, fake scoops, no tacky stickers, even most badging is deleted. Maybe that looks a bit anonymous from some angles, but all you have to do is look at something like a gaudy Civic Type-R to appreciate the clean restraint exercised. I'm not a crazy Mustang/McQueen/Bullitt fan, but I appreciate what Ford has done with their Bullitt cars. The only thing that bothers me about this one (and EcoBoost Mustangs) is they don't look right to me without the two diagonal bars in the grille of the GT. Otherwise, $3K is a fair price for some extra power, nice exhaust, custom paint, and a collector model.
@Puff: It's run by a bunch of hipsters that get off on esoteric trivia that only means something to them and their buddies. They can't drive and lack the breadth of experience to draw from, so they just complain that things aren't "like back in the day"...in 2013 when they were 17.
Juan Tobias seriously? It reminds me when car companies came out with the turquoise colors in the late 90’s early 00’s, and #epicallyfailed with that color. Give it two years and this color will look like junk
Is the Delorean not one of the shittiest driving cheesiest cars of all time? Similar motivations that drove you to purchase that car are likely why people end up with a Bullitt.
NoClassic Exactly lol, the deloreon was a significantly worse car than the 390 from a reliablity and performance standpoint, which is even more of a surprise considering the deloreon came out well over a decade after that car and cost a shit ton more. I get it, this isn't for everyone, yes, it is a bit gimmicky, but, that's kinda why it's charming. People like Matt Maran have always wanted a Bullitt mustang, now they can have it, it's expensive, but not outrageously expensive for your dream car. Getting back on point, the deloreon was a shitty car, probably one of the worst performance cars of all time if we go off of, the price, what it was hyped up to be , etc. Yet, we love it because it defines the 80's and it was a key piece of one of the most beloved film franchises ever, it's a gimmick, but that's why it was remembered. Not gonna lie, he was so salty in this video, I kinda lost respect for him. On one hand, we don't want him to suck off a car, but on the other, he shouldn't slam it either. This isn't the best sports car ever made, it's not the best mustang ever made, but it's a cool tribute to a great film. In short, this car kinda falls into the middle, in a sense, it's average compared to every car on the planet, but with how he treats it, you would think it's a prius, or something else truly terrible.
Why begin by dumping on Bullitt (the movie), Steve McQueen, and your views of cultural relevance? This movie was well received by critics, one of most popular of 1968, plus the car chase scenes won an Oscar for editing. So your snap critique is distracting at best, a needless polarizing start to a review, and brings your judgement into play.
I was thinking the same. I’m 19 and still get inspired by Steve McQueen in any movie from on any Sunday to bullitt. Matt definitely deserved my dislike😔
“It’s not a good movie” probably the worst way to start this review. What a douche. It’s not relevant yet they are still making bullit mustangs? Good logic bro.
Peter Jackson get over yourself. It’s called an opinion. I have never watched the movie but I don’t want to and I am sure the movie sucks because I already seen the reviews for that old movie. I would take elenaor from gone in 60 seconds instead.
Steve McQueen was the coolest man ever. You clearly don't get that buddy. That's why people will buy it. They are buying a little bit of Steve McQueen cool..
Steve McQueen deserves hate, behind the "persona" was years of drug abuse and beating his wife, he can be forgiven because by all accounts abuse was in his past by the time of his last marriage, but still a man who takes out his problems on a woman can never be cool.
The 20hp comes from using the CAI/Throttle Body/Intake Manifold from the GT350 which costs about $2k to replicate in the aftermarket so cost wise its not too far off to start with that under warranty
I could care less if this car had Bullitt badges all over it or not. For me, the main appeal here is the color and the performance packages that are on the car.
Sounds to me like you know you'll never have the hair, the stare or the dare of Steve McQueen. He wasn't just a movie actor, he was also a top notch race driver.
It sounds pretty sweet. Better than my 2017. The hood flutter can be fixed by turning the little rubber bumper things under the front edge of the hood out about 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn.
Well, YOU just don't get it Matt. I just lost respect for you because of your rant on the movie Bullitt and McQueen. Have you ever seen LeMans, the movie with McQueen? Or any of his other movies? Here is one example of how he is relevant: McQueen's 1970 Porsche 911S used in "Le Mans" sold for $1.375 million some years ago. Hagerty had valued the car at $72,000 at the time. His 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 sold for more than $10 million back in 2014. McQueen cars bring that kind of money because of his relevance. There are many well thought out messages below about his relevance, and the Bullitt car. So I won't repeat them here, but you should read through them all and take them to heart. Unbelievable opinion from a supposed car guy...
Don't worry. I have a copy of Matt's World Famous Datsun 240Z is a real Ferrari video. I will make it into parody so fatboy won't be able to get it taken down on copyright grounds.
mariodesmo And don't forget the motorcycle jump in The Great Escape. Today a car that can be traced to Steve McQueen can command big 💰 on the auction circuit. Something that Matt Farah should know before he gives his two cents on the McQueen legacy.
I have to admit, I love the Bullitt...It looks great, it sounds unbelievable and what an engine!!!! The Bullitt tie in is not a problem for me as it harks back to a day and a time bringing back some of those touches from a stellar actor and car..great car!
I love the highland green color. I bought a used 16 GT last year in guard metallic because it was the closest thing to a Bullitt edition car. I'm not even a little bit tempted to trade up. My baby is paid for, has the saddle interior, and has analog gauges. How old are you Matt? I would have thought you would be old enough to appreciate Steve McQueen. He was a man's man.
Can't say all that much about about the movie, but Steve McQueen's style and persona is still a major influence over the tone of modern style and tailoring, same with people like Paul Newman, JFK, and Gianni Agnelli. Timelessness, as someone such as yourself who is interested in watches and horology would know, is an incredibly important cornerstone of various industries and lifestyles. Steve McQueen is perhaps one of the most well regarded figures when it comes to timeless design.
Joe Alderman I understand that. For comparison's sake I referred to the Steve McQueen one because that's what the newer remake was mostly based off of.
Steve McQueen was actually a huge car enthusiast, and he actually did the some of the driving in that chase scene. I’m sure he would have done the riskier stuff too if the studio allowed him to as well. Even if there was no movie relevance I love the highland green on these and would buy one just for that
Matt , clearly you don’t “get it”. it’s ok for you to spend thousands on rebuilding a car that was a disaster but only saved by a 1985 movie, but somehow it’s not ok for a car company to build a car to commemorate a truly historic film and moment in American car design? As many folks have pointed out, you weren’t there to see the film in 1968. Neither was I but appreciate history and it’s impact. I owned an ‘08 Bullitt for five years...a damn fine car because I loved the film, loved the car, the color and the sound...nothing like it. Then i had to make some life decisions and sell the car. Now I drive a Focus ST, it’s not as fast , loud or cool, but it still provides a great driving experience. That’s what the BULLITT mustang is. A thank you to Ford faithful who love to drive. If I had the money right now I couldn’t decide to buy a New Bullitt, used Raptor or GT350. All our great products by a great company. And oh btw in 1989 my father had some extra money he was between a 1965 Mustang 289 convertible and a 1981 DeLorean DMC-12. He bought the DMC and owned it for 12 years, what a piece. He probably would still own the Mustang today.
You must not be familiar with movie Bullitt, because it's most certainly not a "bad" movie. Is it a rather outdated movie? Yes. However the chase scene automatically made it a cult classic!
its a bad movie with a semi cool car chase wrapped in it. I own it even the car chase (usually the only part I watch) becomes suspect with the editing, presumably they had to re-use the same moment from different angles to make it longer because the mustang kept breaking flying over the hills of san fran.
Matt I don’t know what you were on when making this video. But just about everything you said in this video was wrong! This car is awesome and Steve McQueen is one of the coolest guys ever and he is still relevant today
Matt I lost a lot of Respect for you and turned this video off within the first minute. Steve McQueen was a car enthusiast not just an actor and did a lot for the car community. And the movie Bullit has one of the best car chases and scenes ever.
You may not love the movie, or that car, but for most of us, we love a stripped down sleeper V8 Mustang with a stick, and big sway bars, made for the streets. I see it as Modest. The exhaust note speaks for itself. It's for people that don't need stripes or cobras, and don't need a supercharger. It's just the modern interpretation of the spirit of a classic pony car
Somehow, Matt will still manage to mention the dislikes & criticism in the comments on his next podcast to his guest in a way where he berates his viewers while reaffirming his worthless opinion on the subject. And yet, his viewers will quickly forget just how much of a snobby dbag he really is and continue to fanboy as they do.
I don't think it's an amazing movie but it had one of the best chase scenes for the era and was definitely an iconic car, man and movie. I don't care if they came out 21 years before I was born and I've only seen the movie once, it's still a cool mustang IMO.
Saying Bullitt is a bad movie is like saying the original Gone in 60 Seconds is a bad movie. Oh wait... Seriously though, the overdubbed GT-40 exhaust used in the chase is one of the best car soundtracks ever in movies. Plus I think most people that are truly into car culture, especially on the American spectrum of cars enjoy Bullitt for what it is and appreciate Steve Mcqueen for the fact that he was a totally car guy, that acted just to pay for his car hobby, did all of his own driving and raced a ton. The dude was badass. I would personally love to see more of these sorts of cars than this constant, nonstop influx of all of the Hitler mobiles that look like fucking frogs.
Look, Bullit is not a great movie, but it had lasting cultural impact; it helped introduce the whole 70s 'morally ambiguous' cop drama. It wasn't about plot, it was about style, cool, and lack of moralizing. Movies like Dirty Harry or Death Wish or French Connection all basically borrowed from Bullit, which itself borrowed from French new wave contemporary noir film like Le Samouri The soundtrack was also pretty bitchin
First time I watched this video. Wow, I'm done watching your stuff for good Matt. Completely clueless about history and why the "Actor" and the "Movie" are still important to people.
Well bullitt now means a better gt and how do you not love that color ? It has the most iconic and real car chase in cinema history that’s why it’s a legend , and Steve McQueen is what like Paul Walker is today and car god or myth type shit. People love nostalgia
Who pissed in your cornflakes that morning? Damn, it's not even named after a man. It's not called "The McQueen", it's named after the movie. You make some good points, but you also took a nasty big gulp of Haterade™, and the bitterness on your face is a bad look.
The mustang has come a long way since I started watching your videos. I think it was at the end of garage 419, when you first tested the 2011 v6 and all new 5.0l mustang. Glad to see your still making videos 7 years later. Haven’t watched in a year or so just due to being busy, but this one got my attention. Good stuff, Matt. Keep it up, and see you on /r/cars.
Wow! Why the Bullitt hate? I get it, you’re younger but at a time when car flicks were few and far between, Bullitt was revered. On top of that, McQueen was the anti hero, rebellious cop in an era of “pigs” and much distrust of authorities. Also McQueen was a hip old dude who loved cars, my older brothers adored him. Also, Bullitt set the stage for the highly successful Dirty Harry series with Eastwood, also set in San Francisco, also with a rebellious cop. Cmon dude.
A bad cheap shot at '68 Fastback, a true car enthusiast shows respect to all past performance cars. The nostalgia of those 1960' muscle cars and movies is what revived the market. Only a ricer, nouveau riche or brand snob would throw such an insult.
not really, even at the time they drove like shit, stick an extra couple hundred pounds up front and barely upgrade the suspension, a HO 351 car or boss 302 performed better save maybe a straight line with equal driver, that's why the car broke so many times during filming, hitting the ditch was not in the script but since the chase was done the director and Steve decided to finish the movie without the car, that's how good it was.
With the algorithm changes lately I have not seen a smoking tire review come up on my phone in a very long time. I used to watch the smoking tire 1st thing every morning. I couldn't wait to see what you are going to have and what your opinion was on it. Once you stop doing reviews I kind of lost interest but then I saw you on this one and got really excited. The car is cool, The information you gave was to the point, & it was nice to see you again. It just seemed like somebody forced you to do it. I read some of the other reviews and saw that I'm not the only one that recognized this. I don't care & I'm not going to nit pick at the review just wanna say Hi, I'm a big fan of yours, great job and nice to see you again.
And with this Video you are now unsubscribed. Calling your viewers fouls in the beginning, negative comments about a great actor, negative comments about a cult classic movie I think you just ran out of ideas. If you don’t want to review cars anymore stop.. your channel is now no longer relevant
one of the few times I could tell right from the start Matt you didn't care for this model Mustang.. As for Steve and the move.. it was an iconic 'Chase' movie for its time.. and that Steve was a 'driver' of all things with wheels made it feel even more real.. The movie 'Le Mans' was another of Steves 'real' driving treat movie's.. Steves love of Porches and Triumphs (in real life) will always be a big part of who he was.
This was hardly an objective review Matt! You clearly had a bias going into this which has totally skewed your perception of the car. Your personal views of both Steve McQueen and the movie are irrelevant when it comes to this Mustang, and for that matter, of the '68 Mustang as well. Comparing a Mustang from 50 years ago to this current version is just ridiculous. They are both vehicles of their time as should be judged as such. Very disappointing. One less subscriber.
The reaction to this review is a good example of what happens when someone (or a company) mixes their mission with personal views. Matt is getting over 1/2 dislikes (most ever?) - and it is not due to a review of the car, but due to his off-the-cuff critique of Bullitt (the movie) Steve McQueen, and "cultural relevance". Whether you agree with Matt is immaterial, personal views are always going to get blow-back. Moral is stick to your mission - reviewing cars. Viewers are not looking for more.
Say what you want about the movie, but that car chase is iconic, and Ford is simply capitalizing on that, I think it’s a beautiful car, and unless you can get that green in another trim level, then people are going to buy this particular vehicle, it will be a collectors item, just like the 40th anniversary ones, and of course the originals.
If i were to spend close to 50k i would 100% be smart enough to spend 3k more to get a bullitt. It also has revised suspension, and is sexy as fuck and hold their value better then a regular GT. There is a reason why these end up being collector cars.
Steve was and still is a cultural icon. Love your reviews Matt, but your way off there.
The Bullitt is a classy edition with a little power bump. Beautiful color too. Matt's being a knob.
Matt, I don't have problem with the review of the car per se, and the movie itself was decent for '68 but this line from yopur R&T review:
"Even the 12-minute chase, the most iconic film car chase of all time is just not good, especially when compared to the sequences in Ronin or The Transporter"

while everyone is entitled to its opinion, I can not shake the fact that seen from here, all I see is a big hairy dude doing cheap youtube videos that trashes the king of cool, 68 mustang and a movie that's still cherished for not only its description of San Fran in the 60s but that really made "car chase" a staple of action movies... all the while pretending loving cars and their history.
The irony is strong, and Mcqueen would smile.
Orph3O I disagree. The reason is you obviously watch the video didn’t you? He is giving people content that they want to satisfy their need of a certain car with certain modifications that interest them. And they are entertaining actually. I think you’re just jealous
@@aaronp9835 - And I think you're just lame - you missed the entire point of everyone's comments on this clown!

Steve MCqueen will be remembered forever Matt, how long will you be after you die?
Probably 3 or 4 months

The morning shit crew will sure miss him! You evil barstewards!
Wait who the fuck is Matt?
Matt who?
Yep disliked my first vid in a while... R.I.P. Steve McQueen
Jackie Moreland I'm pissing on his grave as we speak.
Chuck Davis thanks bro you actually get it, much love!!!!!!
Unfortunately this will be my last time watchin your vids!
Bad Matt
Jason Gray I’m there with you bro. Funny thing, my comment mysteriously disappeared...
RIP to Matt Maran lol
Lololol I was thinking the same thing
Accost2u he is already crying in another post
Never understood why subaruwrxfan still does car reviews... Plenty of UA-camrs make better car content than he does
why you say that?
That's IS a good one. Moran's IQ somewhat trumps this guys I think.
Steve McQueen represents quintessential Americana even today.
The chase scene in 'Bullitt' is still considered one of the greatest amongst film critics.
My suggestion is stay away from the cultural critique and stick with the cars.
Micah , facts! This dude is an ass clown!
@Micah - He said he owned a Delorean, so I don't think he should stick with cars, based on that statement alone!
This Matt turkey wasn't even sure what car he was driving. He knows sweet fuck all about cars, but likes to pretend he does.
"A man should never have a shirt with another man's name on it" Cool! I'll make sure to NEVER buy any smoking tire merchandise since that brand was created by you and your name stands behind it :D
But the shirts don't say "Matt Farah is a Cool Guy".
Adam Cooper Matt Farah immediately goes to his closet and throws away anything that say Ralph Lauren, Gucci, Calvin Klein, etc.
Adam Cooper lol. Good point.
Matt is homophobic, lol.
What about Shelby? Or Ford? Those are names of other men and I don’t see anyone calling a GT350 cheesy.
McQueen served in the USMC. Matt was served at the buffet.
Matt, love your work, but hating on McQueen and Bullitt seemed like you are trying to be controversial just for the sake of it.
Hes been saying the exact thing from this video for years, dating back to garage 419 (before smoking tire existed).
Hes just being honest.
Very juvenile of him. Pathetic indeed. He needs to grow up it seems.
John Grytbakk yes, a sweeping judgement of his character based off an honest opinion.
Your comment is far worse and stupid than anything Matt said during the video. Stfu.
how dare he not liking the same thing you like
@Nicholas Wilson Stfu ?
grow up child. I have the right to speak my mind. You scumbag.
Its a horribly unprofessional "review" and this guy doesn't even know much about the car. What a total joke.
You aren't 1/2 the car guy McQueen was.
Gawd dayum. The salt and bitterness in this video is off the charts! Bad day, Matt?
Bad day/big head
sneeky7 I feel like Jalopnik is just run by a bunch of assholes with no credibility.
@Puff: It's run by a bunch of hipsters that get off on esoteric trivia that only means something to them and their buddies. They can't drive and lack the breadth of experience to draw from, so they just complain that things aren't "like back in the day"...in 2013 when they were 17.
Bad day??? He's just a bad reviewer. He's more of a food connoisseur than a car performance critic.
That color is gorgeous
Juan Tobias seriously? It reminds me when car companies came out with the turquoise colors in the late 90’s early 00’s, and #epicallyfailed with that color. Give it two years and this color will look like junk
T U
Yeah he does.
WeekEnd133 vintage green you can never go wrong with that, classy and timeless
WeekEnd133 been an amazing color for 60 years, but yeah, in two years it'll look like junk, sure🙄
Highland green, available color for mustangs, although since they revived this badge again probably not anymore
Wow! Arrogant and Ignorant at the same time.
Nailed it!
Gipstetz And he sounds for all the 🌎 world like a BMW ass-kisser!
Is the Delorean not one of the shittiest driving cheesiest cars of all time? Similar motivations that drove you to purchase that car are likely why people end up with a Bullitt.
Sure but the Delorean was garbage when it was new.
You can buy a Mustang that's the same as this for less money. No so with a Delorean.
Actor and film “no longer culturally relevant”? WTF Farah?
T. Howard aghhghhh 💩💩🤮🤮
Nowadays reality stars like kim kardashian are more relevant i guess....
I'm not old enough to have seen the movie neither are you
The only reason I bought this over the standard GT is because it will hold its value better.
This Matt fella is a turkey that certainly isnt relevant.
His judgement? More like his lack, thereof!
Bad day Matt?
FX looks like it, very petty
Exactly my thoughts.
Douchie really douchie.
I was thinking the same. I’m 19 and still get inspired by Steve McQueen in any movie from on any Sunday to bullitt. Matt definitely deserved my dislike😔
jaguarjaonzz nobody's crying dickbag, they just have opinions, just like Matt F. and Matt M.
Someone needs a Snicker's bar.

Nice car, but for that money I would buy a slightly used Shelby GT350
Glenns Car Collection me too
“It’s not a good movie” probably the worst way to start this review. What a douche. It’s not relevant yet they are still making bullit mustangs? Good logic bro.
Or a used gt500
Peter Jackson get over yourself. It’s called an opinion. I have never watched the movie but I don’t want to and I am sure the movie sucks because I already seen the reviews for that old movie. I would take elenaor from gone in 60 seconds instead.
Did those cars even depreciate? They were so difficult to obtain with a waiting list and $10k+ over MSRP (hence why Farah didn't get one).
Steve McQueen was the coolest man ever. You clearly don't get that buddy. That's why people will buy it. They are buying a little bit of Steve McQueen cool..
Did you just hate on Steve Mcqueen? What the crap, you must think you are far more important than you actually are.
Did you just hate on Matt Farah? What the crap, you must think you are far more important than you actually are.
Did I just hate on Caleb Potter? What the crap, I must think I am far more important than I actually am.
Did I hate on myself? I must be crazy.
The word you’re looking for is pretentious!
Steve McQueen deserves hate, behind the "persona" was years of drug abuse and beating his wife, he can be forgiven because by all accounts abuse was in his past by the time of his last marriage, but still a man who takes out his problems on a woman can never be cool.
Man somebody pissed off farah before this review. Maybe the ball powder company won’t sponsor his videos anymore
try buying anything that mcqueen owned or touched and you'll see how relevant he still is. bad move matt
Not joking this exact car is sitting in my driveway
He saw Le Mans and says it's shit. And let's see how much McQueen's car is worth in 20 years, when the rich old people who care about him are dead.
Agreed Matt just gained himself some douche points!
JUST TO LET YOU KNOW I OWN A 68 390 FASTBACK AND ITS BEEN IN MY FAMILY SINCE DAY 1, I LOVE THE CAR ITS A GREAT CAR AND EVERYONE LOVES IT.
i feel like the goal of this car went completely over your head
Can't say all that much about about the movie, but Steve McQueen's style and persona is still a major influence over the tone of modern style and tailoring, same with people like Paul Newman, JFK, and Gianni Agnelli. Timelessness, as someone such as yourself who is interested in watches and horology would know, is an incredibly important cornerstone of various industries and lifestyles. Steve McQueen is perhaps one of the most well regarded figures when it comes to timeless design.
$3000 more for 20 hp extra and instant collectable. Well worth it. GT350 is $20k more. Not really comparable. Love the 350s engine
Matt, you can't get the dark green on a normal GT.
J. Martinni just wrap it
The s550 had guard green for a whole
Craig Moody guard green and highland green are two totally different colors
Guard green is pretty gray-ish and lacking richness.
Dang Matt you should retire 100% from One Takes your getting a bit snobby
Still better than Zach who just repeats the same shit for 20-30 minutes
Wow the guy has one opinion you don't like and it's all hate.
Lol. Get over it and eat a jelly sickle
Matt doesn't know shit about Steve McQueen. He probly thinks the remake of Magnificent Seven was better than the original too.
Dinsdale Drummond the original is itself a remake
Joe Alderman I understand that. For comparison's sake I referred to the Steve McQueen one because that's what the newer remake was mostly based off of.
I absolutely love the new magnificent 7 though
Just watched the new remake and it sucks
It took me 0:44 seconds to stop watching this.
Steve McQueen was actually a huge car enthusiast, and he actually did the some of the driving in that chase scene. I’m sure he would have done the riskier stuff too if the studio allowed him to as well. Even if there was no movie relevance I love the highland green on these and would buy one just for that
Woah Matt. I think you just lost some followers dissin an icon.
Wow, the hood moved a whole 1/32" at over 100mph... stop the presses
@@ElCastrador Go watch the fast and furious. I bet you think that piece of shit is a masterpiece
Unsubbing for insane disrespect to Steve Mcqueen the movie, and the automotive legend that is the 68' Fastback 390.
Your north of SF in Marin near Pt. Reyes sea shore, it looks like. A few Chevy commercials there to go with your Ford informercial.
You’re ....
No True car guy would ever disrespect the movie Bullitt, or Steve McQueen
You may not love the movie, or that car,
but for most of us, we love a stripped down sleeper V8 Mustang with a stick, and big sway bars, made for the streets.
I see it as Modest. The exhaust note speaks for itself. It's for people that don't need stripes or cobras, and don't need a supercharger. It's just the modern interpretation of the spirit of a classic pony car
the chrome and badges all over it don't strike me as modest, different strokes.
ElCastrador it’s not designed to .. its designed to recall the 68 cars
I would personally love to see more of these sorts of cars than this constant, nonstop influx of all of the Hitler mobiles that look like fucking frogs.
thejoshbtv Bullitt is a slow plodding movie that has nearly no plot and is extremely boring with the exception of one scene.
I think you failed to mention McQueen's legacy on Motorsports, stunts in movies, etc. The man's a legend and you didn't mention it.
@Liam McKeever - I don't think this guy would know Steve McQueen from Queen Latifah!
Look, Bullit is not a great movie, but it had lasting cultural impact; it helped introduce the whole 70s 'morally ambiguous' cop drama. It wasn't about plot, it was about style, cool, and lack of moralizing. Movies like Dirty Harry or Death Wish or French Connection all basically borrowed from Bullit, which itself borrowed from French new wave contemporary noir film like Le Samouri
The soundtrack was also pretty bitchin
First time I watched this video. Wow, I'm done watching your stuff for good Matt. Completely clueless about history and why the "Actor" and the "Movie" are still important to people.
Honestly after your intro I didn't want to hear anything you had to say
ya boy Oscar Same here. I had to stop after just 39 seconds.
Common with the dislikes guys, geeez.
Matt - every new one take you put out is a precious gift and we thank you.
Going to catch some heat for the McQueen comments Matt. Maybe not as relevant to our Generation or Millennials. I’ll give ya that.
Joseph Belfi but McQueen was still far more popular in his time than that bloated fat fuck will ever be
Greezy_Chef you’re comparing Steve McQueen and Matt Farah? Why?
Joseph Belfi well I mean Matt is the one hating, so the comparison is brought on by himself
The Bullitt is iconic, and has been a driving force for Mustangs. Along the same lines as Shelby, not quite that prevalent but still important!
When a cockroache comments on a legendary giant
Well bullitt now means a better gt and how do you not love that color ? It has the most iconic and real car chase in cinema history that’s why it’s a legend , and Steve McQueen is what like Paul Walker is today and car god or myth type shit. People love nostalgia
Who pissed in your cornflakes that morning? Damn, it's not even named after a man. It's not called "The McQueen", it's named after the movie. You make some good points, but you also took a nasty big gulp of Haterade™, and the bitterness on your face is a bad look.
Never thought I'd actually dislike a video on this channel.....wow!
Matt I love your reviews! but you miss the point entirely on this one!
McQueen not relevant in the car world? 60s 70s? King of Cool? Wow Matt..
Try buying anything McQ owned at auction.
Saw the movie at least a 100 times , will not see your face a second time man !
ok bye
@@reno9k Shut up
wow. missed this one by a mile... I guess we all lay a turd every now and then.
Damn, who shit in your oatmeal this morning?
Sick Mustang! Love the gauges, wish my 2016 GT Build had them.
one of the few times I could tell right from the start Matt you didn't care for this model Mustang..
Movie is what ever, but always been my favorite color and power package for the mustang.
Every time Matt Farah shits on the Bullitt, a Matt Maran dies.
cloudhidden Best fucking comment ever.
Love em both but hawt damn.
If i were to spend close to 50k i would 100% be smart enough to spend 3k more to get a bullitt. It also has revised suspension, and is sexy as fuck and hold their value better then a regular GT. There is a reason why these end up being collector cars.
Rude intro regarding McQueen and The Movie, let alone the way he introduces his audience.
Shows his low class of character.
Watching this for the car.
