I had the same problem with the fence on the Rigid R4514 jobsite saw. After watching this video (months ago) I ordered the version for the jobsite saw (which is only the piece for the narrow end of the fence) and finally installed it this week. I haven't used it much, but installation was a snap and so far every test run of moving the fence to various positions resulted in a firm, parallel fence setting. Thanks for the tip!
I have been ready to move off of this saw almost since I bought it. That is, until I saw this video. Even though it is sponsored, it's very informative and even a bit entertaining. I went out and bought this off of Esty, installed it, did a bit of fine tuning, and IT TOTALLY WORKED!!! Now my fence is rock solid. This literally saved me from ditching this saw and going out and buying a $3000+ Sawstop. (for now)

I know I'm late to the party but thank you so much! I had the exact same thoughts on th3 saw, problem with the fence and solution as your friend. I caught your video right before I started shopping for a new fence. Now I'm going to etsy!
I've learned to work around the issues of this saw; all you have to do is put forward pressure on the fence with one hand and clamp it down with the other and it will be perfectly straight every time
Yeah I’d do the same two years later still accurate and I never had the slop that he had in his fence. I check the accuracy often because I don’t trust factory fences and no complaints so far.
Great info video about the Ridged 4512 fence problem, after watching I ordered the fence fix parts from Etsy, solved my same sloppy fence rail play.Cuts are more accurate on this weekend woodworker table saw now, just remember what I once leaned from a old finished carpenter, Wood always moves this is why machinists and tool and die guys cant be woodworkers, nothing is always going to be exact.
Great video. I have been fighting my R4512 fence (fencing with my fence?) for the past two days. I didn't realize how bad it was until I measured it with a dial indicator. Then I almost stripped the fence adjuster bolts trying to get it true. I've had the saw for seven years, and up until recently the fence's inaccuracy hasn't been a problem as I hadn't been doing precision work. But now that I'm building jigs for furniture making, I finally realized how bad it was. I will be ordering.
I think the coolest part about your videos and channel is that you're from SA. I just stumbled upon your channel and have enjoyed some of these videos.
I didn't know this part had been produced! I'm in the process of milling what looks to be the exact same part for the back side of the fence. My TS 3650 has different bearing surfaces on the front side of the table, but the back looks pretty much identical.
Dude!! Thank you! I have a rigid. Different saw, at least in look, but it has the same fence. I have noticed mine developing a slight amount of slop. I'm ordering these TODAY. And... I enjoyed the " sponsorship " portion. Ok, off to click the sub button.
Thank you! Still crickets from Laguna....A year later that 3d printed piece is still holding up. It works about 95% good. I've been thinking about getting "the incra fence" though....
Dude, you need to take your act on the road! Extremely entertaining and informative. I have this fence on a older craftsman saw and this looks like my fix. It was a much better fence than the original, but has these same issues. However the parts now cost $36.00. A small price to pay for a safer saw.
New subsciber here, love your work. You'll laugh you'll cry, you'll break windows with saw kickbacks. I'd be happy to take your ridgid saw after Laguna sponsors you!
I fought over 5 years with this fence. Upgrade it with these plastic and all kinds of stuff. Still have issues. I finally give up and replaced it with the Vega fence and rails. Best decision ever! Ridgid makes great plumbing tools but carpentry tools are horrible!
Just ordered mine! Thanks for this video - I'm cautiously optimistic and looking forward to giving this a try. Like you, the fence is my biggest complaint about my R4512.
Yes. Mine does the exact thing. I loosen the screws and tapped it straight and re tighten. It's a nuisance. I'll give this a shot. Hopefully it'll lessen the times I have to re align the fence.
I just ordered the upgrade parts for my 3 year old RG4512! I dont have the slop issue that you did, thank God, but it does have a slight toe in when locked! Also ordered the improved over the blade dust collection port from them! Great video glad I found it ! Hope Laguna sponsors you !!
Thank you Gregg! I have the over the blade dust hood too and it works good! The seller is awesome. Tell him I sent you (I get no commission). As far as Laguna - we’ll see. They’re not big on sponsoring ANYONE. The more I think about it, Sawstop makes more since. It’s just an insurance policy wrapped up in a hot dog protecting tool.
Came for the fence fix, stayed through the sponsorship read. That was Frank Howarth-level editing magic. That's the kind of sponsorship I can get behind. And afford. Now, to get my fix ordered.
Thanks for the tip, I have a ridgid R4512 and I just been so happy with the saw, no problems at all, it’s been great, quiet and smooth, I also own a powermatic 66 and the ridgid it’s much quieter than the powermatic, I just order a sliding table from Harvey that I’m planning to install in the ridgid and remove the steel extension wind, Thanks again for the tip on the fence
I have the Ridgid 4520 and the fence has always been good. I did have problems with the blade height adjustment twice. Ridged replaced entire saw the 1st time because there was a problem with the motor and it wasn't available. The 2nd blade adjustment on saw number 2 had broken parts that are no longer available. They sent me saw number 3 last week. Be sure to register your tools. I now have 3 rip fences and many other parts.

I have that saw and initially I did struggle with the fence. But, what I did to compensate was to push forward on the fence before locking it down and it works great. It would be nice though to keep it from toeing as it slides
I have this saw and I've had issues with the fence from time to time. I end up measuring the front and back of the blade to the fence. If it's off, I loosen and retighten the fence, pushing forward as I do, to make sure it's lined up and doesn't move. I have ordered that little upgrade kit but I have not installed it yet. The first time I tried, it was not usable and I didn't have the time to file/sand the parts down to make it work. I will in the near future, though. I wouldn't want to waste $28, you know. There is another inexpensive upgrade you get get for this say and it is the TABS, for aligning the blade. That I have installed and it is great. So easy now to align the blade. you don't have to do as much back and forth of tightening, loosening and retightening to compensate for everything moving when you tighten down. No banging on the motor or finding a long enough, and strong enough, screwdriver to fit through that little hole, either. Just a slight turn of a hex nut. Fellow San Antonian here, as well.
That’s cool! How about the cooler weather and rain?! I had to send down my parts, but it required very little. I sanded slightly more than I needed to. It’s pretty easy. Just took more effort to get me in “the mode”.

part ordered! good review, thanks. i have a R4512 i picked up used a year or so ago; apparently ridgid changed the lift design at some point so mine only has 3 casters and a pedal on the left side instead of the front. makes it a lot more cumbersome to move around than the style you've got. glad it's there but wish it was the 4-caster style.
Well done .....I could see your channel taking off at some point. Your sponsor skit was funny and unique or at least I haven't seen similar anywhere else. As for the saw....I have the same model and have been fighting the same fence issues for a year and a half. I knew those nylon cleats were the issue, glad I found your video, going to order them as well. Good luck w your channel
Thanks Eric! That pesky fence. A year later the fence is much better and has held. However….I’ve been eyeing “that Incra fence”….and I might take the plunge. Just wired the saw to 220….dang. You got to do it if you have the ability to supply 220.
I have the 4520, upgraded from a job site saw. Big difference. I’ll admit though, after reading reviews of the fence I never even installed it. Upgraded to a biesemeyer style fence. But my best upgrade rivals the incra @ $100. Wixey WR 700 digital fence readout. Best purchase in my entire shop.
@@wittworks I got a “Align-A-Rip” fence you probably won’t get it in the USA. But I have 56” rip to the right of the blade. With drop dead accuracy and repeatable cuts thanks to the wixey.
I have the 4512 and if you had registered the saw when purchased Rigid would stand be hind the saw! I did and they replaced 3 fences. The extrusion was not parallel with the miter slot or the arbor. I agree the fence was junk until I got a good one. However I still replaced the fence with the Incra TS LS wonder Fence system. Yes it cost more than the saw. That was 5 years ago. And I do not regret the purchase. I use to install CNC machines in the early 80’s so I am pretty anal when it comes to precision. I have a calibrated master Plate and dial indicator for alignment of the arbor to the miter slot then the fence. When I set my fence for a 4 inch cut I get a 4.000 cut measured with digital calipers. Yes wood moves with moisture content. But I am West Texas and that is not a big issue here.
I bought mine used and it had terrible slop. Took me way to long to try and fix it. A few small walnut shims CA glued onto the portion where the fence meets the rail completely eliminated the slop for me.
I was researching after market fences for my 4512 and was going to place an order for an incra and ran across your video then saw a guy up in Canada did the same thing so I figured wtf and ordered the parts to give it a try. I also ordered the TABS table saw alignment block set just to make it easier to adjust the blade they're in the mail should be here in a few days. I'm enjoying your videos and Thanks for the tips

I watch two to three You Tubes woodworking videos with my coffee each morning... you produce good stuff! I have a Ridgid 4510 the slop in the fence is just awful, I'm constantly checking and rechecking accuracy.... That being said I picked it up at a yard sale for $150, it was used for rough work (Outdoor building) and I put about another $200 worth into it... Zero Insert, 80 tooth blade, made a really nice precise crosscut sled.... but the fence... S#$@'s just horrible! At night I dream of a Saw Stop or a Laguna being dropped off at the house and then I awake to the fence from Hell... On the brighter side for Christmas I received a Makita corded Track Saw... that is a game changer almost as good as my Saw Stop or a Laguna dreams!!! Good videos and I like the comparisons especially on the Track Saws... this is where the future of DIY woodworking is leading I believe... not so much large table saws but small, well build, quality table shop saws... keep up the good work enjoy the videos!
I tried these (or someone who made something extremely similar) and they absolutely would not work. After installing the 'brackets' (under the handle end) they would NOT drop into the slot on the front fence rail, even after sanding ALL of the 'nubs' on the 'brackets' off. They just didn't fit. I complained on his Etsy site, and he came back with how I was ruining his business and would not provide any support, or take them back. My solution that works pretty good is to put a piece of UHMW tape on the front of each of the stock 'brackets'. I get good results.
I have the Laguna Fusion F3 and love it. Highly recommend. I had the Rigid before that. Good saw. I had the Very Super Cool tools fence on it and it was very accurate. Check it out if you haven't before.
I watched the video more closely and was able to order the plastic pieces via Spectrum Advanced, many thanks! Fouhd you UA-cam video very informative. I like Saw Stop over Laguna :)
I know! I didn't realize how much play was in it until watching the video. It was terrible. The fix isn't 100% perfect and it's not buttery smooth like a proper high end fence, but, for $28, I'll take it.
I double checked my message to the Etsy seller and he confirmed the 4520 isn’t compatible. Ridged is fond of making tiny tweaks. INSTEAD OF FIXING THE EFFING FENCE
Two months after you made this video, Johnson wax stopped production of their paste wax. The management should have their bag slit and a leg run through it.
You’re a genius. I’m going to wire it soon. When my electrician friend comes over. 😀 it feels like it’s running at 1/2hp - but I think that’s because of the dull blade and the toed in fence.
Of course, at 240V the motor will be drawing only 6.5A. So the HP will be the very same at 120V and 240V. And since electric motors rarely run at 100% efficiency, that theoretical 2.1 HP is more like 1.75 effective horsepower. Ridgid's claim of 3.25 HP is likely based on the theoretical peak HP that the motor will produce right before it explodes, multiplied by their own marketing BS factor.

Ridgid likes to change tiny things from saw to saw. 🙄 I haven’t found a cheap solution for that one. Seems like the Incra fence is the best way to go if you love the saw (but it’s about the same price of the saw!)
@@wittworks thanks. That's annoying on Ridgid's part. Last night I found John Heisz's homemade fence video, bought the plans and am going to go that route.

I also ordered the TABS table saw alignment block set just to make it easier to adjust the blade they're in the mail should be here in a few days. I'm enjoying your videos and Thanks for the tips
Thank you! Let me know how it goes! My friend got the Incra and it took over 16 weeks to get in.
@@wittworks the wait time is longer now,my shop is bone chilling cold in the winter so I got a couple of months to order one for mid spring delivery so I got time for a few hacks and if they work I save money if they don't I got time to wait
Rule# 3 No self promotion, 😂 you gotta get a sponsor . Seriously thanks for the vid though
They're $36 now, lol. Still worth it, the stock fence is the biggest PoS I've ever seen on a power tool.
Def worth it. Ended up selling the saw.
The saw stop hot dog had me. Spit up my Diet Coke. Thanks
Thank you
Love the sponsor bit👍🏼
Thanks!
Thanks for the video waiting on them to come back from vacation and will be ordering and dropping your name in the comments
Thanks! I saw he was on vacation today. He has a dust hood for the blade I’m interested in
The video really starts at 7:51. That's when it gets relevant and good
Thanks for this! My ridgid fence wiggles and it’s so frustrating to use.
Thank you! Mine is still dialed in and working good.
Laguna!!! Show this man some LOVE!!!
Preeeaaacccchhhhhhh
will this also work for the r4514 portable saw?
"Don't hold that against them" LMFAO!!! :🤣 Go Mavs! Great and hilarious video man!
Thanks
Good sponsorship.
Awesome video!! Keep up the great work
Love the humour!
Thank you Bruce!
Your crazy fella. Pretty freakin' funny though. Didn't know you had a twin!😁
Does this work for the 10 inch work site Rigid?
I LOVE THIS video editing. What software do you use? just curious
Hahaha this is too good man, and I’ve known you for years… had no idea you had a twin with a dirty mouth 😆 Keep up the awesome work and hats on to ya!
🧼 I learned it from you.
Wow, what a grate Video!! Amazing. Absolutely perfect!!!! You are right , I would also not put this saw into trash. Good job bro!!!!
Thank you!
I have the Laguna Fusion F3 and love it. Highly recommend.
I had the Rigid before that. Good saw. I had the Very Super Cool tools fence on it and it was very accurate. Check it out if you haven't before.
hey man thanks for the tip
Great vid, thanks for sharing.
Am I missing something? Where do we get the $28 plastic upgrade pieces to repairt the Ridgid 4512 fence?
I watched the video more closely and was able to order the plastic pieces via Spectrum Advanced, many thanks! Fouhd you UA-cam video very informative. I like Saw Stop over Laguna :)
my husband needs these where do i get them ?
That looks a _lot_ better. 👍
I know! I didn't realize how much play was in it until watching the video. It was terrible. The fix isn't 100% perfect and it's not buttery smooth like a proper high end fence, but, for $28, I'll take it.
You said it the title $0.20 saved your day. In the end it was a few pennies more than that. I just ordered a set for $33 and change.
The cost of the plastic is $0.20. I explain how I figured the cost at 6:00
@@wittworks If it works it's worth it. I wasn't complaining about the price.
It’s still working and has made my saw useable again
@@wittworks I bought the kit and it's sitting on my work bench to be installed.
Is it compatible for a ridgid4518?
I’m not sure. I doubt it. Ridgid is known for changing little things on each model. You might reach out the seller and ask.
This saw is available in the UK under the brand “Lumberjack” Ive been tempted but the fence issues have put me right off.
The fence is terrible. I’ve been thinking about upgrading to the Incra fence…but…it’s almost the price I paid for the saw!
Love your content! Question for you since you have done a lot of research on this. Do you know if this problem is on the R4520 also?
Thank you! I’ve gotten the question a lot and don’t think so. I asked the seller on Etsy and he thinks it’s a different fence.
I double checked my message to the Etsy seller and he confirmed the 4520 isn’t compatible. Ridged is fond of making tiny tweaks. INSTEAD OF FIXING THE EFFING FENCE
@@wittworks Oh wow! Thanks for the feedback!
You’re welcome. Hope you find a good solution. I know how frustrating it can be and how it takes the joy out of the table saw.
Anyone knows if this will work on a ts24241? The fence looks the same
I need this. But live in Canada. Over $70 bucks after shipping... gimme a break!
Did you get the Laguna?
No. Saw stop. To save the hotdogs.
What was the name of the product where can I order it
The link to the etsy shop is in the description near the top
Two months after you made this video, Johnson wax stopped production of their paste wax. The management should have their bag slit and a leg run through it.
Noooooooooo. I didn’t know that. I just opened my last can a few days ago. I’m going to run to the store to see if there’s any left. F.
Great info. Has anyone tried this with an older TS2412 fence? Are they the same fences as the newer ones? Tia
thank you. I don't think they work on other models. Ridgid is fond of making micro tweaks between models (and never fixing the real issue)
@@wittworks Thank you. After a ton of tweaking, I finally got my fence 100% square and solid, as designed. This mod would still be nice though.
13A*120VAC/746 W/HP = 2.1 HP
3.5 is totally possible if 240 V
That marketing bs factor!
You get a Like and Subscribe just for being local to me. Excellent vid. I’ve been having the same problem with my r4514 straight out of the box.
Go Spurs Go! (Or this time of year, Let’s Rodeo, San Antonio!) I’m out in the Victoria area, but a San Antonio native.
Gracias! Thank you 🌮
Ha I was just about to give the thumbs down. But hey wait what's this twins, clones no just a decent guy with a sense of humor. I like it, and I like what he said keep up the good work. Different but interesting.
Thank you Billy.
I want a sponsor too -lol
Go Spurs Go
😩😩😩 I remember the good days
I have this table saw and hate it also. I also bought some 3D printed pieces but it hasn't helped any. I've spent hours and hours trying to solve it but I'm just fed up.
I have same issues that’s why I’m here 😂
I have the R4513 saw and its fence is TERRIBLE. The saw is fine, but I've never been able to trust the fence and it would be great to fix that. Anyone know of a similar fix for that one??
Ridgid likes to change tiny things from saw to saw. 🙄 I haven’t found a cheap solution for that one. Seems like the Incra fence is the best way to go if you love the saw (but it’s about the same price of the saw!)
@@wittworks thanks. That's annoying on Ridgid's part. Last night I found John Heisz's homemade fence video, bought the plans and am going to go that route.
That’s cool! He’s a brilliant designer.
Has anyone tried this on the R4518?
Has it worked for you?
Yeah, funny😂
And… I feel the same way about the dumb Samsung ice machines in their refrigerators, what a joke.
your ice machine is broken too? Mine broke 13 months after buying it.
sorry man... I'm normally the king of goofy bits in a video... and I tried, I really did... but I ended up skipping your "sponsored" section cause I just wanted the info on how to fix my fence.
Great! After you fix the fence, you could crack a cold one and sit back and enjoy it another time 🙃
The fence fix is holding up great and is 99.9% perfect.
whats up with the 0.20 in the tittle?
the cost of producing the 3D printed part is $0.20 (but the seller obviously sells it for more and makes a huge profit) - see 6:10 where I explain it
That was a witty vid tho bro
Routers have 3.25 HP motors 🤷♂️
Hilarious
waffled about the plastic and didn't show us a second of taking off the parts that's very poor for a 10 min vid
Must be nice to have all the money to buy expensive tools and shit over the tools other people can only afford. Good job, expect so many views...
You're right. It is very nice. Work hard and smart and you can do it too.
Get to the F ing point. Jesus less talk
