Steve Young is without question in a class of his own. He brings the soul to folk, country and blues like no other.

I met Steve in Nashville to start with. Then we played the Northwest tour in 1989 2 great cities. In that period he had finished Long time Rider and an album in Sweden. Steve said I played best in Seattle for a larger audience however! Thanks in heaven now.

Steve and Guy Clark were my 2 favorites. sadly they both passed in 2016 and left a gaping hole in the singer/ songwriter scene. It was like Townes Van Zandt died twice.

I was with Steve in Memphis several years ago. He played Gibson Guitar Showcase, co-billed with Guy. Guy was in remission from cancer, tho still not doing well. Steve performed 75% of the show. He was a clear hit with audience, many of whom had come to see Guy. That Friday night in Memphis, Steve won them all over. Truly, it was a special night to remember.

My father absolutely adored the song "Angel of Lyon". We had opportunity to see Steve Young play at the White Elephant Saloon in Ft. Worth, TX back in 1995 or so. He was touring in support of the Switchblades of Love album. Truly an incredible force in American Music. This concert is a valuable document for Steve's unique combination of Country, bluegrass picking, and all-out troubadorin'

Thank you for posting this video of my brother Steve, I had never seen this excellent footage of him before! As this shows, Steve was great whenever he performed live. Sadly, he passed away 5 years ago tomorrow, on March 17th in Nashville, TN.

I was introduced to Steve's music only 3 years ago by a friend of his in the Madison area who worked at Mountain Railroad Records who produced Honty-Tonk Man. I have since collected every bit of his music that I can. Real treat to watch him live!

I have a small story for you....just a small one to show how kind he was. I met him in Calgary when he performed at a small club for a handful of musicians....nobody else turned up. I was stunned by the general indifference of my town's folk, and also by Steve's fabulous musicianship. The few pickers in the room got schooled that day. Steve told me about buying a Toyota with the $$$ from the Eagles album. I told him that I couldn't find his albums anywhere, and he took my address and said he would send me some. A month later a package arrived with a bunch of albums. He was good to his word.....and I will never forget the grace he showed. I sometimes sing 'Rock Salt'....and always tell the audience to seek out Steve's recordings.

I have adored Steve's music since I was young. My dad used to play him constantly. Car trips up to London to see my grandparents were soundtracked with his music. I cannot hear Little Birdie without crying - it immediately transports me back to a time in my life that has gone forever. It was also the first song I played to my son when he was born. Steve's music will always be with us, and for that, I am so grateful.

@@hannahbould7225 Thanks for your comments about Steve. Primal Young, the album with “ Little Birdie” was a project Steve loved doing. As the detailed liner notes show, the songs were he covered were quite influential to him. That’s a fun album for sure and I loved singing on it.

Thanks for recording and posting. I put on a house concert with Steve in 2004- it had been a dream to see him live so I looked up his email and it all came together. He also generously listened and talked to me about my relationship to alcohol, and he shared about his spirituality. I think of that conversation as the first spark to a changed life.
I am still completely disarmed by his music all these years later- i am permanently shocked by its power and beauty. Its rare, but when you meet someone who knows who Steve is its an instant connection- big grins. Thanks Steve!

As far as I know this concert includes the only known performance/recording of 'Selina' at around 1:35. Great song about the Mexican-American singer Selena Quintanilla.
