For me, I’ve used MacBooks with trackpads for 10 years. So moving to a wireless mouse was so gross to me. I would prefer if it was a little smaller, but it really does make life easier if you’re used to the MacBook
Yeah I think the 14" MacBook pro built in trackpad is a perfect size.
its for people who sleep on a bed
@@jonathanchan1365
can you pair it to more than one mac?
@@voydesvelado I haven't tried, sorry! Because universal control takes the need for that away
If only the Magic Trackpad can work smoothly as an input device for signatures or editing/cropping using the Apple pencil like an iPad. That would be nice.
That would be. You almost just have to keep an iPad close by for best possible signature function
As soon as you use multiple fullscreen windows you instantly fell in love with it. If not, you probably on only one app at the time at the first place
I have an AltWork egronomic desk and Logitech MX Mini keyboard and Magic Trackpad 3. To the back of the trackpad I added for velcro pads (about 1/2" x 1/2" each), and it attaches to small square strong magnets that stick to the AltWork desk lifting the trackpad about 1/4 - 3/8" above the desk surface. I thought it would be a problem, but turns out to be anything but a problem. In fact now I wouldn't go back to the old way. The advantage is that the it's a little more comfortable resting the palm on the desk. I have no ergonomic problems with it at all. It's a very cushy setup. I've been using this arrange me for a few years fulltime coding and it's really enjoyable and highly functional.
two people using the Logitech mx mini - frankly, this is a gaming style keyboard IMHO - one of the best keyboards I can recommend for the macbook is a K3 Pro by Keychron - there are a couple of others that do similar things but the combination of programmability, low profile, quiet linear switches make this an amazing tool for the Mac/designer market.
I switch between languages, use Euro, dollar and pound signs all. on the same keyboard, have macros set up for some of the most insane illustrator actions and I can use it with both PC and macbook.
The keyboard space outside of Logitech and apple is where a lot of action is happening and the custom options are really attractive.
A cheaper keyboard I use on the fly, without the compatibility is a YK75 made by several brands. You can use them on bluetooth, cable and some of them have a 2.4ghz dongle too. I paid only $28 heavily discounted but with the slightly clicky switches - still a fast keyboard!
What is the difference between magic trackpad 2 and magic trackpad 3 ?
Usbc I think versus lightning
The difference is the number after “Magic Trackpad” 2 Or 3 😅
The corners are rounder
@@HieuNguyen-ht2wji bought imac m1 with trackpad option, is this trackpad 2 or 3?
The bottom plastic plate is matte instead of glossy and the corners are rounder. Both have the same Bluetooth version and internals for the most part. Also that you get a braided USB-C to Lightning cable in the box instead of a regular USB-A one.
Thanx Adam, very even tempered review! Subbed!❤
Thanks so much! Welcome to the channel.

Honestly Ive been using a trackpad with my iPad from Logitech and love all the little gestures. I like a muse, but this with my Mac mini would be nice. i dont game or do video editing so i dont need a mouse with my Mac. It’s not for everyone but it’s neat and i just want one at the end of the day. They really need to make it multi use those, its awesome having the AirPods be seamless
Yeah works great with continuity but not as elem when you don’t have the devices all synced up. I would love if Apple could add the multi device buttons
Have you tried used a wrist rest with a trackpad? Total game changer for me.
Definitely improved it but still not the most ergonomic setup in the world.
Solid review man! Well done!
Much appreciated!
The last trackpad I used is from an old laptop (not Apple) where the click and drag feature on the mouse you have to click with one finger and slide with another. This is incredibly uncomfortable for me. How do you click and drag on this new trackpad, like for scrolling through a page or highlighting a sentence?
Thanks. notice you have the Logitech MX Min keyboard with the trackpad. That's my setup and it's perfect :-) Nice review. I hope you keep going. You could become an item in this sphere.
Very helpful review, Adam. Clear, concise and informative. One question: what is the difference between the white and the black versions? All I could find (on Amazon, nothing on Apple web site) was that the black one had a controller type of iPadOS while the white was button control. What does that mean and are there other differences? Thanks!
How much polling rate, does it work smoothly with more than 120hz with promotion? What model is it? A1535?
Does it have lag when you use it with promotion? I bought a magic trackpad 2 and it had lag only with promotion and worse with more than 120hz
I love the track pad! More than the mouse 🐁 I’ve been using mine for years now. ❤
lots of built in features!!
can you pair it to more than one mac?
Nice review dude 🔥
Appreciate it!
just bought one after being so used to the trackpad in my macbook air, i found myself not using my external monitors because i didn't want to use a regular mouse
Once you go trackpad its hard to get used to anything else.
I love the trackpad of my MacBook Air so much that I’m considering getting a Magic Trackpad for the Mac and a separate wireless mouse for when I’m gaming either on the Mac or a pc. Sounds like the perfect setup!
I like having both an MX Master and a Trackpad. Mostly because it is easier to zoom throughout all apps with the trackpad. I’ve been using the trackpad 1 but the batteries die too quickly.
best combo for sure
I got a curiosity about this product. I'm fascinated by the Magic Trackpad and want to buy one to connect with my Galaxy Tab S9 ultra and I'm curious if you could use all the gestures and right click on it as well.
Thanks
I don't think it would work properly with the S9.
I'm going to spoil myself and get a trackpad to use alongside a magicmouse. I live in Thailand. I can buy it today and receive it in 3 weeks. The price here equates to $110 in the US. The baht has been falling, is that a bargain?
That’s a good price!
Curious if anyone knows if all these functions are available on the new ipad?
very good review
Glad you enjoyed it
For me the one annoyance of the magic mouse (apart from that ridiculous "magic" prefix) is that they have this massive design flaw that it charges at the bottom. Chances are always big I'm in the middle of doing actual work and the mofo decides it's time for a nap again.. Is it really so hard to solve the puzzle of how to put the charging hole at the front so you can use it wired as well? Is it for some good old commercial purpose that kills all the fun? Design dogmas that were stretched a bit too far?
It's a shame though, since I do really like that the mouse is itself a little trackpad, something quite unique that makes it hard to get used to the limited scroll wheels of most other mouses (mice?)
So true. I would love to see Apple come out with a new USB C magic mouse that fixed the ergonomics and bad port location.
why do you say trackpad 3? is there a version 3?
The trackpad does not have the same "allow to push to nearby device" as the mouse? That's what I love.
It does. But they must both be on
If my work just for website design and coding, in your opinion, should I own magic trackpad or logitech mx master 3s?
I’d lean toward the master. Check out this video I haven’t release yet for a direct comparison. 3 Trackpad Vs MX Master 3s
ua-cam.com/video/l5bD4XV3W9I/v-deo.html
What is the long black slit on the back of it for? Is it a speaker? Is it a fan? Can’t find any explanation of what it is, anywhere.
Maybe just a design thing. Not sure.
what lights are those n the background ?
After hearing 'magic' so many times, I'm not sure if I still want any magic
Magic
When the number of screens increases, is it as useful as a mouse?
Again, kind of depends on your workflow
where can I buy the wrist rest you got there?
Here it is: geni.us/h3io1E6
I think it's way too wide. I still won't buy one for that reason. I still use my old Logitech Wireless Rechargeable Touchpad T650 Silver trackpad for Mac and can not find a better trackpad to replace it with. I have to use MacOS Mojave because this Logitech trackpad doesn't get support in the latest Apple silicon computers.
Do you know if the trackpad on the new M1 & M3 iMacs have smaller sized trackpads? Perhaps I could just buy one of those.
Those iMacs don't come with trackpads. this is the only size apple makes right now
Can't you just use continuity between the pc and the ipad?
Absolutely. But continuity only works when they are both on and on same network.
@@adamtalkstech Fair point! I decided to buy one in the end, great video :)
Thanks for watching! Stick around for more videos! What should I review next?@@andreykoens
@@adamtalkstech We'll definitely have to break down humane ai pins when they're available. The whole thing sound fishy to me, looks like a vigilance tool with very low return value. Remains to be seen!
I think for the people that have used trackpads for I don't know 6-7 years or more, it would make much more sense to have a review of Magic Trackpad vs other trackpads on the market; however these kinds of reviews are hard to find. We know of course the benefits of trackpads vs other input methods (mice, don't get me started). So a run through of all of the different trackpad options on the market would be much more useful IMO.n. I hate mice. Also you totally got the pairing of the trackpad to Macs and iPads etc totally wrong. If you use the same iCloud account on all devices, you probably just have to pair once, and you can also move your cursor seemlessly from the Mac screen onto the iPad screen and back (and onto other mac screens). If you do use different iCloud account the most easy way to re-pair the trackpad to another device is to just connect a lightning cable from the trackpad to the new device and the pairing is changed instantly. I've tried other custom software based re-pairing methods, but they all had some difficulties and in my experience the best way to re-pair a trackpad to another device (if you ever need to) is to use a lightning cable as described.
Is there another good wireless trackpad? I haven’t found any.
That’s not how the pairing works unfortunately. If you have the Mac on and continuity on it goes across seamlessly but if you want to use it by itself with an iPad the only way to pair it is what I described. I tested extensively and it’s what Apple’s site describes too.
I use double tap for right click. there's no goin back for me
Can I use it to have sign documents? Looking for something to have my customers use the finger or Apple Pencil sign documents like they can do on my iPad.
Yes you could use markup or an app that allows you to use a mouse to sign. You would have to click and move at same time
How to use it on Windows?
Unsure man. I don’t have any windows products
I have one and I use it for windows, it works perfectly. has gestures, etc. there's a youtube video on it, just search it and follow the instructions :)
I've heard you can - I'm likely going to buy one for my iPad and I'm going to try it on my Windows PC just for the hell of it
@@weston407 did you end up trying with windows?
Your information was good and well thought out, however you need to get rid of your dead fish presentation and try to be more presentable. Good luck and carry on.

Why wood you call the video Apple Magic Trackpad 3 while no version 3 exists? There are only ver 1 and 2. Looks loke an unethical clickbait. Will you please respond in 48 hours before I make a report to UA-cam
This is the version 3. Version 3 includes the USB C to USB A cable.
