Totally agree. I’ll have a sports car for me and the wife but I like something like this for all of us. My wife could care less about the numbers she wants to know how the car feels day to day

5’11” mom of 3 here… was about to buy a palisade until the gm came back with 3k of dealer add ons we didn’t want, and “wouldn’t take them off.” Found this video, went and drove the Traverse and fell in love! Yes, it’s not as cool as the palisade but the functionality for a big family is amazing. Talked with the dealer and got it at msrp, which I feel like is a good deal in this market. Can’t wait to get our 2022 Traverse!
I purchased a 2021 Chevrolet Traverse Premier Redline Edition in April and I did NOT pay MSRP. I have 4 kids, 3 of them are in carseats and 1 is in a booster seat, and we have more than enough room! It has more cargo room than the Dodge Grand Caravan I was driving before and more room in the passenger area as well. To look at this vehicle from the outside you would never think a family of 6 could comfortably ride around in this vehicle, but we love it! We shopped around and this vehicle offered us more leg space and cargo room than the Ford Expedition and the Chevy Tahoe. I know when my kids get older we will have to move up to a Suburban or Expedition Max, but for right now this vehicle is perfect for us!! Also, I use the 2nd cup holder when I'm driving and the "secret cubby" for my sunglasses.
I appreciate these reviews because they are centered on a practical approach to what families need in a vehicle: How comfortable is it? How many car seats can it fit? What kind of storage does it have? Etc... I love cars, and yes the horsepower and torque are cool but they are not as useful when figuring out if a vehicle is going to meet your needs. Before your channel, dealers would look at me funny when I brought both car seats with me, and then I'd spend time sitting in each seat. I don't mind spending extra time testing, but then the salespeople try to push you into "coming inside to talk". No! I have five other vehicles that I need to go test out. My wife LOVES her 2020 Traverse LT. I got her a smokin' deal last July on a 3 year lease when we turned in her 2017 Traverse. Zero down taxes and dealer fees rolled in for $269/month with 10k miles/year. It's been a great vehicle for us and accommodates our family of 5 (plus 2 dogs) remarkably well. Averages almost 20mpg combined over the past year which was a huge difference over the 16mpg we averaged with the previous generation.
I absolutely love my Chevy traverse. I just upgraded from a 2015 terrain to the 2018 redline edition and it is amazing. The trunk space is to die for. It fits everything!! I love the hidden storage in the trunk to store extra diapers and my kids things. I enjoy not having to take my keys out to do anything. I just walk up , push a button and get in. Being able to wave my foot underneath to open the trunk hands free has been a huge game changer, I’ve never seen this before. Mine has the double sunroof , the kids are obsessed. The cup holders are a good size. My old car had some very inconvenient spaces that didn’t get much use. The only thing I wish I could change is the cup holder position in the front. I do like the side by side better but that’s not a big deal at all. I have to car seats installed. A rear facing graco 4 ever and a booster , they fit very comfortably. I mean I can go on and on. Get you a traverse! 💕

I just bought a 2018 traverse and I love it! We were very close to getting a minivan and ultimately decided we wanted something a little nicer looking. This has the comfort and space of a minivan with some style.
We just got the basic model. Honestly, 3rd row access was a huge deciding factor and the 3rd row space was better than a Honda Pilot. Coming from a 2012 Equinox, I didn't feel like I needed fancy- I needed functional and still wanted bench seats. It's great for our needs and while it is bigger than our old Equinox, it doesn't really feel any bigger to drive.
Same! Traded in my Equinox and just purchased the LT and the main reason was space. More crazy technology the more that breaks. If I was leasing I’d want tech, to purchase, just more to fix long haul.
Wanted to hop on here to say thanks for an excellent review. With a 4th kiddo on the way I was on the lookout for a used SUV that could transport a family of 6 and still have somewhat of a decent trunk. I wanted to avoid a bigger vehicle (Ford Expedition, Chevy Suburban etc) if I could because I didn’t want to deal with parking one, going through cramped drive-thrus and such things. We bought a 2021 Traverse a little over a month ago and the baby is here now and I couldn’t be happier with the car. Drives great, plenty of room for the kids, and easy enough for them to get in the car. And the trunk gets the job done (love the hidden compartment for emergency essentials). Great review, great info!
Absolutely love the cup holders in the rear doors! They are great when loading kids in the car. I can just set my cup in the door load the kids in and no spills. Biggest disadvantage is with the captain seats all the way back you can’t lay the third row all the way down. But overall, so functional for the price. If you want a full size suv but can’t or don’t want to spend nearly 100k this is a phenomenal option.
That’s so smart! For our family, I always have the front cup holder, and my husband takes the back because I tend to sit further forward than he does whether I’m the driver or the passenger, but that makes so much more sense! I’ll have to keep that in mind the next time we have drinks in the car. 😅
I have a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse LT and I have two little ones and I LOVE my car. It fits a double stroller and all of our groceries perfectly. Mine also has two bench seats that can seat someone in the middle between our car seats if we have to use all 8 seats! It gets realllllyyyy good gas mileage for its size. I got 30 mpg on a road trip to Florida over the summer it was AMAZING! I highly recommend this car! I will be upgrading next year and I CANNOT wait! ☺️
We just traded in our Nissan Murano for a Traverse Premier and I love it! I didn’t want a huge SUV where I felt like I was driving a bus. It’s great on gas/mileage with still have enough space for 2 car seats (one front facing and one rear) and enough space in the third row for adults. We live in Texas where it’s hot so the ventilated seats and ceiling vents were a must. We have 2 captain seats with leather and checks all the boxes for us.
I have a 2021 Traverse, and am in LOVE. I’ve had my fair share of SUVs. Recently traded my Honda Pilot. Hands down this is my favorite I’ve had. I wish it had bigger cup holders, door cubbies, and window visors for the back row. BUT those things were not a make/break for me and I’m so glad I made the switch. I have the light leather, and think it’s beautiful! Seriously loveeee it! ❤️
I recently just purchased this vehicle Saturday and i went from a 2015 Chevy Cruze to this and omg! I love it! I leased the LS trim and i have a forward facing and rear facing kiddos! I was able to get the bench sit and it’s perfect for a grandparent if they wanted to sit back there. My son calls it the buzz light year car because i got in the summit white with the black trim throughout
We just purchased an LT about 6 weeks ago and LOVE IT! Used to have an Acadia but with two kids-and planning to have more- it just didn't have enough space. I am in love with the trunk space, cubby in the trunk and the features in the LT for the price :) Highly recommend.

Agreed. The interior of Chevy/GMC is lacking. Every other brand has a nicer interior. Even the leaked 2022 isn't much better. Why they don't improve the interior is beyond me. I want to like the Traverse and I do like the size/space, but the interior....
Love my Chevy traverse! Fun tip for those that have used it for a couple years. It may sound obvious… but make sure to take your cup out of the passenger door before you shut it. If it isn’t a closed container it will go everywhere 😅😅
A couple features I love about my traverse high country that weren’t mentioned…the rear view mirror camera-kinda weird at first but have grown to love the visibility it gives me, all of the camera views when parking/backing up, the optional brown leather interior is 😍 in my opinion. Also! The “secret cubby” although obvious, is useful because you can set a passcode to lock it, so it won’t open when the button is pressed.
Ok so it literally took me almost 2 months of having my traverse to know about the secret cubby lol. I just didn't try and figure out what that button did until I asked my oldest and she goes well press it lol Now I gotta figure out how to set up this pass code you're talking about
I just purchased a traverse. Took 3 weeks to come in due to shortage but worth waiting for. I love it. Coming from a jeep compass, it's sooo roomy!! My uppababy mesa fits great. Was going to go with a suburban but this had plenty of room

I have a traverse and this was spot on! My husband drives an F350 Lariat and has a carseat with base, graco extend2fit, and booster seat all comfortably in back and wants you to go out on limb and do a review for a large pickup truck 😊
I need a truck review for my husband too! When he doesn’t get a company car (F250) he will buy an F150 or 250. And need to know more info on car seats and whatnot -like as a family car for a long trip!

Just got the LT, captains seats with blackout package. Absolutely love it so far- the drive is so comfortable. I don’t care much for techs features- was more interested in fitting my two boys and two German shepherds which I can do easily!
People who say this 2nd gen traverse isn't big enough must be dilusion. If you want a full size then go to the full size. This is a midsize crossover suv that is almost the same as the full size. Its just slightly smaller but way much bigger than any of the other competitors in this midsize suv by far. Try finding all of what this traverse has in other competitors and you'll be sadly disappointed with less than mediocre features. This 2nd gen doesn't compromise. You get everything all in the proper place and it does not look flimsy, cheap nor gimmicky. Its very well laid out.
I love my 2020 Traverse. I don't need or care about bells and whistles. Totally about function and safety. It's big enough for my family to grow. I think it has too many random cubbies but I don't like having extra stuff in my car or places for my kids to shove crap. The space is unbeatable for the price

I traded in my 2017 Traverse for a 2021 Traverse LS (base model) a little over a week ago. Got to drive to for 2 days and then we left out of the country for a vacation. Can't wait to come home and drive her. Really wanted a power lift gate but the LT was out of my budget no biggie, though!
I just bought a similar one but it's an LT Cloth and it too is white! Love the features inside like the autostop button, the AWD option knob and the infotainment system! Pretty cool, Kelly!

I have the 2021 Redline edition and I LOVE IT. Of course, I agree with the power sunroof shade but besides that I love how easy it is to use and the amount of space it has. This car is so comfortable for us ❤️ you can also open the trunk by kicking the Chevy logo that you can see displayed at night.
I have a 2018 Redline Premier Traverse in black and I absolutely LOVE it!! My favorite car I have ever had. The best mom car. I have two kids.. One in a front facing car seat and one rear facing and I have so much room!
The traverse and the VW Atlas are my top choices. Love the look of the atlas but the traverse feels huuuuge which I loved. Underwhelming interior though and the cup holders were meh. What to choose?!?! Help!!!
I bought the 2019 LT Premier during their employee discount sale and was able to get a great price instead of paying the 46k MSRP even with upgraded color of Cajun red. Don’t know why that is more but I liked the color. The safety features are awesome and took some getting used to as my 2014 Traverse didn’t keep me in my lane if I didn’t use the turn signal lol. The camera in the traverse is awesome. It will show front and rear and from above which most cars don’t. It is very easy to park this vehicle in tight spaces with the help of the camera and the screen picture is nice and clear better than two of our other vehicles in different makes. The leather is much softer than the Jeep Grand Cherokee or the Ford Explorer when we compared. The sunroof does have controls and the dash is digital and you can use your foot to open the trunk. Overall we have really enjoyed ours and it has more power than the 2014 did as far as pick up and go and towing. So far so good! 😊
My car hunt list is now only cars you've sat in and loaded with stuff cuz im confident they'll fit my junk and future kid! Next step is test driving some...
My wife's parents have a 21 Traverse and that's where we started our SUV search. Almost bought a 22 Telluride but at 12-15k above MSRP it didn't make sense. Went with a 21 Atlas SEL Premium with 9k miles for 44k. Didn't think we could beat that package.
I have a 2019 Traverse in the highest trim level and we love it. We almost got a mini van but live in the country and get alot of snow. So unless we got a Toyota there was no 4x4. We love this car. Yes simple but it has everything we need fits 3 rear facing kids AND and DOUBLE BOB.
Love this! We are getting crowded out of our equinox with third baby and I'm so sad because I LOVE my equinox so so much! I was wondering if this would be a good upgrade. Love that trunk space! Only thing I would want to know not shown here is how the back seats fold down
The Traverse felt very utilitarian and I knew it would meet our needs. We found an LT Leather option for a great price, but we went with a Kia Telluride SX that meets our needs and got a few of our wants!
One of the biggest reasons I tend to not like the American brands is because of the lack of technology for usually a higher price than foreign brands. My highest trim Hyundai palisade was under 50k with so much tech that this is lacking and this is 53k! It’s so disappointing. Obviously for large families priorities are different but its sad a larger family has to sacrifice the tech for space and actually spends more!
Yes!! We also recently bought a top-trim Palisade, and we’re just in love with all of the comfort and tech features for a lower price! I love to buy American, and I come from a family of Ford lovers, and I do think Ford makes great cars, but you’re so right - for the price, the technology just isn’t there.
I built mine not long ago and they started building it on the 21st. 2021 LT/RS Cloth $44,555 before rebates. It was a bit of a fight to get what I wanted without upgrading to the RS. Some of the things I didn't want like the sunroof. Crossing my fingers it comes in the way I built it.
I have a 2018 LT Leather with the premium package (Bose system etc feature you clicked) and your description is spot on bc mine looks EXACTLY the same. Only difference is my front door side panels have a bigger pocket bc I can fit a water bottle in it. ONLY thing I wish was that the blind spot monitors had a sound with it not just the blinking light. But I do love my traverse.
I would LOVE if you would review a Ford Explorer !! I’m interested in the vehicle as a long term option but would love your take on it as a midsize suv !!
I drive this and the Highlander along with the pilot. Ended up with the pilot I have loved my Honda’s but this was my second choice. It is a great mom car.
I was REALLY hoping you’d mention about the feature where the engine starts/stops when coming to stop signs and stop lights. I have heard that it’s the biggest drag about the traverse and that it isn’t a removable feature…I really want a traverse but don’t want to bother with driving it in 9th gear all the time to avoid the engine turning off.
I have a 2020 Traverse and I love it. The shifting is seamless and smooth. The ride is smooth and the pick up is quick. It’s also super roomy!!! The ONLY thing I HATE about this car is the damn auto stop!!!!!! Hate it so much I wouldn’t have purchased it had I really looked into it. Other than that, best car I ever owned (so far).
I really wish you had shown the spare tire. Where is it? Full size or donut size? Is there a tow hitch that comes standard on this thing? Would have liked to see the floormats; carpet or rubber?
I'm not personally a juice box or CapriSun fan, but I bet those rectangle cup holders in the back seat are nice for anyone brave enough to let their kids drink those in the car. That is if the kids can reach them from their seats.
Love the trunk ! I bought the 2021 Sorento and I can barely fit my uppababy with my third row up ! I can’t imagine how I’ll fit a double stroller when I have the third row up but for now it works
I have a friend who has a 2020 Chevy Traverse Premier, and says it has been in the shop for the last 3 months due to an issue "they", the dealership, can't resolve with the electronic steering. He said it would turn on its own for no reason. Way too much money for this car.

Cup holders: the one in the back is the drivers. It’s too hard for the driver to reach around the shifter to get to a cup in the front cup holder!

I call the trunk cubby "the body cavity," since you could probably hide a body in it. It's huge.

Love my Chevy traverse! Fun tip for those that have used it for a couple years. It may sound obvious… but make sure to take your cup out of the passenger door before you shut it. If it isn’t a closed container it will go everywhere 😅😅
My favorite comment was “…that looks like it could be on a beer can.” 😂🤣 Because Chevy and beer 🍺 😂
A couple features I love about my traverse high country that weren’t mentioned…the rear view mirror camera-kinda weird at first but have grown to love the visibility it gives me, all of the camera views when parking/backing up, the optional brown leather interior is 😍 in my opinion. Also! The “secret cubby” although obvious, is useful because you can set a passcode to lock it, so it won’t open when the button is pressed.

Ok so it literally took me almost 2 months of having my traverse to know about the secret cubby lol. I just didn't try and figure out what that button did until I asked my oldest and she goes well press it lol

I just purchased a traverse. Took 3 weeks to come in due to shortage but worth waiting for. I love it. Coming from a jeep compass, it's sooo roomy!! My uppababy mesa fits great. Was going to go with a suburban but this had plenty of room

I have a traverse and this was spot on! My husband drives an F350 Lariat and has a carseat with base, graco extend2fit, and booster seat all comfortably in back and wants you to go out on limb and do a review for a large pickup truck 😊
I need a truck review for my husband too! When he doesn’t get a company car (F250) he will buy an F150 or 250. And need to know more info on car seats and whatnot -like as a family car for a long trip!

Just got the LT, captains seats with blackout package. Absolutely love it so far- the drive is so comfortable. I don’t care much for techs features- was more interested in fitting my two boys and two German shepherds which I can do easily!
People who say this 2nd gen traverse isn't big enough must be dilusion. If you want a full size then go to the full size. This is a midsize crossover suv that is almost the same as the full size. Its just slightly smaller but way much bigger than any of the other competitors in this midsize suv by far. Try finding all of what this traverse has in other competitors and you'll be sadly disappointed with less than mediocre features. This 2nd gen doesn't compromise. You get everything all in the proper place and it does not look flimsy, cheap nor gimmicky. Its very well laid out.
I love my 2020 Traverse. I don't need or care about bells and whistles. Totally about function and safety. It's big enough for my family to grow. I think it has too many random cubbies but I don't like having extra stuff in my car or places for my kids to shove crap. The space is unbeatable for the price

I traded in my 2017 Traverse for a 2021 Traverse LS (base model) a little over a week ago. Got to drive to for 2 days and then we left out of the country for a vacation. Can't wait to come home and drive her. Really wanted a power lift gate but the LT was out of my budget no biggie, though!

I just bought a similar one but it's an LT Cloth and it too is white! Love the features inside like the autostop button, the AWD option knob and the infotainment system! Pretty cool, Kelly!

I have a 2021 Chevrolet RS Traverse and I really like it so far.
I have the 2021 Redline edition and I LOVE IT. Of course, I agree with the power sunroof shade but besides that I love how easy it is to use and the amount of space it has. This car is so comfortable for us ❤️ you can also open the trunk by kicking the Chevy logo that you can see displayed at night.
I have a 2018 Redline Premier Traverse in black and I absolutely LOVE it!! My favorite car I have ever had. The best mom car. I have two kids.. One in a front facing car seat and one rear facing and I have so much room!
The traverse and the VW Atlas are my top choices. Love the look of the atlas but the traverse feels huuuuge which I loved. Underwhelming interior though and the cup holders were meh. What to choose?!?! Help!!!

I bought the 2019 LT Premier during their employee discount sale and was able to get a great price instead of paying the 46k MSRP even with upgraded color of Cajun red. Don’t know why that is more but I liked the color. The safety features are awesome and took some getting used to as my 2014 Traverse didn’t keep me in my lane if I didn’t use the turn signal lol. The camera in the traverse is awesome. It will show front and rear and from above which most cars don’t. It is very easy to park this vehicle in tight spaces with the help of the camera and the screen picture is nice and clear better than two of our other vehicles in different makes. The leather is much softer than the Jeep Grand Cherokee or the Ford Explorer when we compared. The sunroof does have controls and the dash is digital and you can use your foot to open the trunk. Overall we have really enjoyed ours and it has more power than the 2014 did as far as pick up and go and towing. So far so good! 😊
The mom bun clearance is my favorite feature. 😂
My car hunt list is now only cars you've sat in and loaded with stuff cuz im confident they'll fit my junk and future kid! Next step is test driving some...

My wife's parents have a 21 Traverse and that's where we started our SUV search. Almost bought a 22 Telluride but at 12-15k above MSRP it didn't make sense. Went with a 21 Atlas SEL Premium with 9k miles for 44k. Didn't think we could beat that package.

I have a 2019 Traverse in the highest trim level and we love it. We almost got a mini van but live in the country and get alot of snow. So unless we got a Toyota there was no 4x4. We love this car. Yes simple but it has everything we need fits 3 rear facing kids AND and DOUBLE BOB.
You did buy a mini van. The Traverse is a great SUV if you need space, but not much cooler than a mini van.

My wife and I have an Equinox and experience the same cup holder issues. I laughed, it’s so true..and aggravating.
The Traverse felt very utilitarian and I knew it would meet our needs. We found an LT Leather option for a great price, but we went with a Kia Telluride SX that meets our needs and got a few of our wants!

One of the biggest reasons I tend to not like the American brands is because of the lack of technology for usually a higher price than foreign brands. My highest trim Hyundai palisade was under 50k with so much tech that this is lacking and this is 53k! It’s so disappointing. Obviously for large families priorities are different but its sad a larger family has to sacrifice the tech for space and actually spends more!
Yes!! We also recently bought a top-trim Palisade, and we’re just in love with all of the comfort and tech features for a lower price! I love to buy American, and I come from a family of Ford lovers, and I do think Ford makes great cars, but you’re so right - for the price, the technology just isn’t there.

But if I had to chose an American vehicle I would chose the Ford Explorer over this trevese
The ride of GM vehicles can’t be beat. Soft and smooth.
The driver gets the one towards the back because it’s easier to grab your drink without looking down to reach around the gear thing.
Super helpful with the car seats! My daughter no longer has to get in/out from the trunk 😭

I built mine not long ago and they started building it on the 21st. 2021 LT/RS Cloth $44,555 before rebates. It was a bit of a fight to get what I wanted without upgrading to the RS. Some of the things I didn't want like the sunroof. Crossing my fingers it comes in the way I built it.
I have a 2018 LT Leather with the premium package (Bose system etc feature you clicked) and your description is spot on bc mine looks EXACTLY the same. Only difference is my front door side panels have a bigger pocket bc I can fit a water bottle in it. ONLY thing I wish was that the blind spot monitors had a sound with it not just the blinking light. But I do love my traverse.

I was REALLY hoping you’d mention about the feature where the engine starts/stops when coming to stop signs and stop lights. I have heard that it’s the biggest drag about the traverse and that it isn’t a removable feature…I really want a traverse but don’t want to bother with driving it in 9th gear all the time to avoid the engine turning off.
I’ve had that feature since my 2018 equinox and it doesn’t bother me at all. Nothing huge
I have a 2020 and I don’t like it that feature and also the fan noise is super loud

I have a 2020 Traverse and I love it. The shifting is seamless and smooth. The ride is smooth and the pick up is quick. It’s also super roomy!!! The ONLY thing I HATE about this car is the damn auto stop!!!!!! Hate it so much I wouldn’t have purchased it had I really looked into it. Other than that, best car I ever owned (so far).
If you really hate it auto stopping.
Pull the shifter into low and press the plus button and put it on 9
And it won't stop and it will work the same
I wish you would have done the lower model and talked about the upgrades. I have an LS with bench seats. Its still has the carseat tilt.
I LOVE mine and will be able to fit 3 across carseats and still access 3rd row.
I also have the LS with a bench and honestly love it! I feel like all we are missing is the sunroof and leather seats and I’m ok without them!

I'm not personally a juice box or CapriSun fan, but I bet those rectangle cup holders in the back seat are nice for anyone brave enough to let their kids drink those in the car. That is if the kids can reach them from their seats.

Help, hi, between the Atlas and the traverse which one is better. I was looking at the Volvo XC90 but I didn’t like the third road seat movement.
I have a friend who has a 2020 Chevy Traverse Premier, and says it has been in the shop for the last 3 months due to an issue "they", the dealership, can't resolve with the electronic steering. He said it would turn on its own for no reason. Way too much money for this car.
