I am the Honda guy, and i love my 2021 Odyssey and i love my V6...a lot of you are not impressed with the 4 cylinder with a turbo...listen folks Chevy has been using turbos for a while with minor issues. What i like about this set up is the huge size of this vehicle...the 4 cylinder engine is plenty powerfull for most folks and efficient...that turbo is for those heavy right footers,,,the ones who want to race to the next red light...and that turbo will assist in towing those small to med size trailers...the fuel efficiency is good and most of you will get awful fuel efficiency because you are in a rush everywhere you go.....but overall this vehicle is excellent and priced well....anyways
@@FunAtDisneyOr if it would last. This ain't an Audi or Mercedes which are lease queens . People by these for reliable transport. And it won't last. See 3.6 GM. They can't make a NA V6 reliable and this will be ? 😂
I own the new Acadia and love it. There minor shiny black plastic around the infotainment screen. It comes with the same drivers display, but the infotainment is vertical. If you're interested in this, do yourself a favor and look at the GMC as well. 😊
Best looking Traverse yet. Nice interior and appointments. The piano black trim is not a good offering on any vehicle…prone to dust and scratches. Can they please come up with something else that looks good and isn’t a cleaning nightmare.
You guys should consider adding a sound level test during acceleration. Matters a lot more if youre doing a lot of city driving and going through stop and go traffic.
Yeah I agree with the airball. The high country is sort of an after thought for 2025. It’s more like an appearance package than an actual upgrade and considering it was the HIGHEST trim level of the last generation, the new high country isn’t premium looking at all. Might as well get an RS you’ll at least get a panoramic sunroof standard. Honestly, they could’ve done away with it and have people upgrade to the Acadia.
When GM puts smaller engines in cars there is a large cost savings and you never see the cost of vehicle being reduced when smaller engine is put in expensive vehicles, and another problem with 4 cycle turbo engines is that they wear out faster than basic 6 cylinder engine.
Thanks so much! We find that a lot of times these new models have not undergone complete IIHS testing when we review them. That is why about 5 years ago we switched to focusing on what kinds of active safety features they have to avoid being in crashes.
I have the 24. I really wish they move the volume knob. It’s annoying being the passenger and where they positioned it. It also needs better vents for defrost and NO hooks to hang clothes.
GM really missed by not offering a bench 2nd row. It's one of the only reasons I'm not considering this as an option for my next vehicle. This and the Acadia check basically all of my boxes.
@@HALWG51 Just took a look and you're right. I'm not interested in the base trim(s) so I didn't see that was an option. The bigger problem is I just tried looking for a fully loaded 8 passenger with SuperCruise and leather and they just do not exist. Also can't upgrade the speaker system either. I'm ready to spend $60k for what I want, but GM missed the target. I don't need the third row, but the extra space would be nice. I'll just keep waiting for the new 4Runner to come out.
We have the 2023 GMC Acadia AT4 with a bench second row. We love it! We don't have to use the 3rd row all the time and use it for cargo. Plenty of space!
As for me if there wasn't that HUGE price difference between the Tahoe and this, the Tahoe is an easy option over this , its bigger and the diesel version has better mpg ,and it a V8! , I would rather get the flagship just because of the engine plus the higher end finishing etc.
Big miss with the engine. Drove one on a 24 hour rent from the dealer so got around 100 miles with it. Even though it has more power then the V-6, it feels like it is straining. There is no low end power at all. On light throttle, it is still revving to 3.5k RPM to just lightly accelerate and with the engine being so noisy, it makes for an unpleasant drive. It is not a nice linear power you get from a V-6. There is either no power, or enough power. And on top of that, it has bad gas mileage. It needs a hybrid to get the low end torque and better fuel economy or needs a beefier engine. Unfortunately this was the deal breaker for me.
Yeah! All vehicles this size need a V6 engine imo. V6 or i6 engines are much more fun to drive and sound better than a 4 cylinder. Also 6 cylinder engine barley need Turbocharging, so it has better maintenance.
@GaryGraf even in sports mode it was no good. All it does is hold the gears longer before shifting but still revving high and causing alot of noise. Even if normal mode is suppose to save gas mileage, it is still terrible gas mileage. Compare to the explorer 3.0TT, the grand highland max with the 4 cylinder hybrid, the V-6 in the pilot and palisade. The traverse is the worse in fuel economy and the slowest.
I think chevy knocked it out of the park with this one. Im still team Acadia, but darn if this wouldnt be a great second option. Im a little unsure of the new powertrian though, my personal experience with GM i4 turbo engines is they have plenty of power and are very smooth, but are very complicated and have more parts to break. Had a bad sprocket in mine that needed replaced at 28k.
fr the tahoe is bigger and the diesel version has better mpg ,and it a V8! , I would rather get the flagship just because of the engine plus the higher end finishing etc.
I personaly think that it is a good vehicle for its purpose. Its enginemsize when it comes against the HP it generates is pretty good. I mean it is a family SUV with a diesel engine, right? You shouldn't need more unless you are coasting from state to state, otherwise it should be more than enough driving locally in 4 seasons.
As a former Ford fanatic, but current #2024ChevyTrax owner, I'm so conflicted. I still like Ford vehicles but I'm really loving Chevy's new style! I have a 2RS, so this RS Traverse is very cool to me. Been watching you guys for a few years and enjoy your reviews a lot!
Interior design - plastic shiny pieces on doors, so 2008, come on Chevy! Why didn’t you mention the folding seat issue with this vehicle? It’s clearly seen in the video as well. Folding and lifting seats back in the car is a nightmare.
I’ve got a 2017 ford explorer with 4 cyl, 2.3 Lt ecoboost and have had zero issues up to 120k thus far. I’ve even pulled a 2500lb trailer extensively through this time. I did take it to the shop at 100k for preventative maintenance regarding carbon build up on the cylinder heads. I’m hoping to get 200k+ with proper maintenance. The traverses engine has larger displacement with more power and torque than the explorer. I don’t see why this engine would be an issue other than the louder noise.
I had a Chevy SUV & yeah some of the stuff is plasticky but I will say this, my Chevy is indestructible - it drives smooth, good handling, good braking, & has enough power to pass on the highway. I'd seriously consider a Traverse - thanks Brothers
Is that really the engine sound or is it artificial engine noise generated through the speakers? I've heard this has become a common thing now from auto makers.
Been looking to replace a Honda Pilot with one of these. The pilots transmission from 1st to second as awful and it has the sound deadening of a bus when driving down the road. The noise level is one step short of a jeep wrangler which is pretty poor for a fully enclosed SUV. This looks better.
I see Chevy still hasn’t figured out the third row. I don’t want to have to go up to the second row to adjust the seats so I can lay the third row flat. Missed convenience step by chevy. The Tahoe does the same thing.

I like it. Yeah, it's a bit underpowered, but if you're not towing it shouldn't be a problem. It's certainly not winning any drag races, but neither did the previous one. In fact, this engine has more horsepower (and significantly more torque) than the V6 it replaces. But people need to stop pretending that they "NEED" a crapload of power in a SUV like this. It's a highway people mover. If you need power, upgrade to the Tahoe. Sure, I'd prefer a V6 too... but it's more of a mental thing really. Certainly not a deal breaker. But yeah, I'm hoping that down the line, they give the higher trims a V6.

Too small an engine (no wonder it’s raspy when accelerating) and way too large of wheels for a utilitarian SUV.
I’d rather have a six cylinder than a four like the 2023 version with a ninth speed trans
No thanks
Mason, stop stealing food from your brother
Another SUV with split headlights and ‘crying eyes’ taillights. Loved the days when GM had a unique design language (90’s-00’). This looks just like any other Chinese/Japanese SUV out there.
No thanx.
Is Drew single? 😊
No
The red accents everywhere is so whack…
