    I am the Honda guy, and i love my 2021 Odyssey and i love my V6...a lot of you are not impressed with the 4 cylinder with a turbo...listen folks Chevy has been using turbos for a while with minor issues. What i like about this set up is the huge size of this vehicle...the 4 cylinder engine is plenty powerfull for most folks and efficient...that turbo is for those heavy right footers,,,the ones who want to race to the next red light...and that turbo will assist in towing those small to med size trailers...the fuel efficiency is good and most of you will get awful fuel efficiency because you are in a rush everywhere you go.....but overall this vehicle is excellent and priced well....anyways

    Yeah I agree with the airball. The high country is sort of an after thought for 2025. It’s more like an appearance package than an actual upgrade and considering it was the HIGHEST trim level of the last generation, the new high country isn’t premium looking at all. Might as well get an RS you’ll at least get a panoramic sunroof standard. Honestly, they could’ve done away with it and have people upgrade to the Acadia.

    When GM puts smaller engines in cars there is a large cost savings and you never see the cost of vehicle being reduced when smaller engine is put in expensive vehicles, and another problem with 4 cycle turbo engines is that they wear out faster than basic 6 cylinder engine.

The bigger problem is I just tried looking for a fully loaded 8 passenger with SuperCruise and leather and they just do not exist. Also can't upgrade the speaker system either. I'm ready to spend $60k for what I want, but GM missed the target. I don't need the third row, but the extra space would be nice.

    Big miss with the engine. Drove one on a 24 hour rent from the dealer so got around 100 miles with it. Even though it has more power then the V-6, it feels like it is straining. There is no low end power at all. On light throttle, it is still revving to 3.5k RPM to just lightly accelerate and with the engine being so noisy, it makes for an unpleasant drive. It is not a nice linear power you get from a V-6. There is either no power, or enough power. And on top of that, it has bad gas mileage. It needs a hybrid to get the low end torque and better fuel economy or needs a beefier engine. Unfortunately this was the deal breaker for me.

    • @GarlandTexasSpotter2024
      @GarlandTexasSpotter2024 Місяць тому +7

      Yeah! All vehicles this size need a V6 engine imo. V6 or i6 engines are much more fun to drive and sound better than a 4 cylinder. Also 6 cylinder engine barley need Turbocharging, so it has better maintenance.

      As long as it's in sports mode, it's plenty powerful. The normal driving mode is purposely positioned to save gas mileage

    • @matt-sr4ww
      @matt-sr4ww Місяць тому +3

      @GaryGraf even in sports mode it was no good. All it does is hold the gears longer before shifting but still revving high and causing alot of noise. Even if normal mode is suppose to save gas mileage, it is still terrible gas mileage. Compare to the explorer 3.0TT, the grand highland max with the 4 cylinder hybrid, the V-6 in the pilot and palisade. The traverse is the worse in fuel economy and the slowest.

    I personaly think that it is a good vehicle for its purpose. Its enginemsize when it comes against the HP it generates is pretty good. I mean it is a family SUV with a diesel engine, right? You shouldn't need more unless you are coasting from state to state, otherwise it should be more than enough driving locally in 4 seasons.

    Interior design - plastic shiny pieces on doors, so 2008, come on Chevy! Take some design language from others who are killing it in interior design, Kia, Hyundai, and other brands, who know what is in style, versus gloss black or gloss red faux carbon fiber trim. You did copy the Koreans in other design languages, so that's good. Time to make America built vehicles great(er) again! Great video guys.

    I’ve got a 2017 ford explorer with 4 cyl, 2.3 Lt ecoboost and have had zero issues up to 120k thus far. I’ve even pulled a 2500lb trailer extensively through this time.
    I did take it to the shop at 100k for preventative maintenance regarding carbon build up on the cylinder heads. I’m hoping to get 200k+ with proper maintenance.
    The traverses engine has larger displacement with more power and torque than the explorer.
    I don’t see why this engine would be an issue other than the louder noise.

    I like it. Yeah, it's a bit underpowered, but if you're not towing it shouldn't be a problem. It's certainly not winning any drag races, but neither did the previous one. In fact, this engine has more horsepower (and significantly more torque) than the V6 it replaces.
    But people need to stop pretending that they "NEED" a crapload of power in a SUV like this. It's a highway people mover. If you need power, upgrade to the Tahoe. Sure, I'd prefer a V6 too... but it's more of a mental thing really. Certainly not a deal breaker. But yeah, I'm hoping that down the line, they give the higher trims a V6.

    It looks better than the ugly new Tahoes. Did they get past the drivetrain issues older models of the Traverse had?

    Wow, who is the design lead at GM making these huge air ball decisions? An anemic powertrain with no gains in fuel economy, any color interior trim you want as long as it's red, high country means nothing now. So much potential wasted on bonehead decisions. GM lost sight of the driving experience. Cargo space and displays were the obvious priorities. Makes you wonder what's hidden under the skin.

    Good work they do guys , but it would be good if they talk about poor visibility for the people who were in the 3rd row to be a hundred and if this draining for families the children do not have visibility and they like to see the landscape , let's not only talk about the good but also everything bad , the engine was better the v6 than this engine that brought v4, blessings

    This 4 cylinder has got to go. It doesn’t fit the aspect of this vehicle nor its size. This would be better off with a hybrid 6 cylinder. Toyota and Lexus get a pass with theirs because they have optional hybrids. This doesn’t and the fuel economy isn’t any better. It just sounds weak and strained like a compact suv.

      Take the Kia Telluride as an example. V6 powered. Nearly identical in size.

      How so when it has way more power than the v6 it replaces and the v6 you named.

    4 cly. Is crap. Had test drive .Will not be purchasing another one.Chevy has let the buyer down on this one.Get the 6 cly back.That 4cly is crying to produce that power if it wasn't for that turbo charger that truck would be crawling..PLEASE GO BACK TO 6 CYLINDER

    Unfortunately would not touch a GM ICE product right now. Transmissions are a big problem and 4 cylinder engines, either naturally aspirated or turbo, are still question mark for long term reliability. ;( . My 2013 3.6 / 6 speed auto combo still going strong without any issues over 11 years and 140,000 miles

    Chevy really needs to offer a carmel or burgandy interior on this car or something else. That tacky red interior is not doing it for me.

    Ya I'm sorry but a 2.5 motor with turbo is a joke. That motor going to give our after awhile from pulling that suv.

    Too small an engine (no wonder it’s raspy when accelerating) and way too large of wheels for a utilitarian SUV.

    Another SUV with split headlights and ‘crying eyes’ taillights. Loved the days when GM had a unique design language (90’s-00’). This looks just like any other Chinese/Japanese SUV out there.
