My opinion about talking toys: they're cool, but not necessary. I grew up with almost no toys that talked (and none from the Thomas Wooden Railway line that talked). I coped just fine. It's not like kids these days are different that they were a few years ago. Personally, now that I'm older and have to pay attention to what I'm buying, I've completely ignored the Talking Wooden Railway line since its inception in 2009. To me, it's just another way to make money, and I hope it disappears soon.
ThomasWoodenRailway yeah. Talking trains for a few engines would be ok (like Thomas, Percy, Gordon, James and the rest of the Steam Team) but talking Den, Ferdinand, Flynn, Salty and Charlie are completely unnecessary.
I saw in the shops a wooden set of the new series and it looked like the old Rusty and the Boulder dressed up in blue....am I seeing right?, hows that for a real mystery..!
the wheels run fairly loose on the track, even if they are locked like the new D10. The old 2002 D10 is a pretty tight fit as it was, with that extra bit of width assures he will get stuck, I did cover the tightness of the TNP Dieselworks in a review I did, sadly the new talking D10 has trouble on that playset.
thats a interesting reverse look at the talking feature, as a parent I can assure you they also remind you to buy batteries as well.!!....battery industry LOVES talking toys
thats interesting as there are a few video's up of people who have Percy who does not chug, but it seems it's a fault only found in a few toys...which character does not chugg for you?
personally i agree with you with talking toys trains leo. When i was younger i recall letting my imagination do the majority of the work during playtime... the talking feature of the toy not only shrinks that realm but it is, as you said, too complicated for the age group the toys target. from watching my little cousin play with thomas trains, he makes his own voices and stories and seems to have more fun doing so.. its the true purpose of a toy.. The sound effects of movement are awesome though
It looks awesome and i love talking diesel 10 from thomas & Friends take n play man this looks awesome indeed after all diesels and steamies are the best and also so cool
thanks for your kind comment, hey I'm right into anyone's $0.02 worth, that's what youtube is all about, without your comments this place would be just like plain old TV
Great review as always, Leo. But in regards to your question about the engines having a talking talking feature (or really any sound feature), I could do without it. Now granted it can be done well (the interactive Chuggington toyline), but for the most part it takes away some of the imagination between the child (or adult) and the toy. Plus, sometimes the model could have a drastic difference between it and the standard model (looking at the Thomas Wooden Railway Talking Engines range).
Oh, well, its still amazes me that all your videos look so splendid, it really goes to show that HD is just a resolution, not a tool to make a better video.
I think talking motorized trackmasters are a great fit but the 3 speed james is kind of annoying I think there should be a button to make him speak instead of him spouting random comments that interfere with the nice chugging sound, my $0.02 Great vid by the way, you always raise the bar on youtube toy videos
those Talking Diesel 10's are quite intresting. I would concider buying one of those but I just don't feel like it cause I only need what's best for some of my trains. Plus, Diesel 10's New voice kind a reminds me of my friend TheRailwayInspector3's voice of D10 from one of his Special Vids.
hi that spark effect is really basic, possibly the best way to show you is do a video on how to produce this most basic special effect, just got to watch out for the flag trolls who like to pull content like this down, as for splatter and dodge they seem to be pushed into the back ground a tad since the new nice CGI D10 has been around
I think with talking toy trains, it kinda ruins the imagination of playtime were kids can make the voices on their own during playtime. I did that when I was a kid with my wooden and ERTL trains.
Take Along (Learning Curve) I have three of them Diesel 10 (from approximately 2006 to 2007) and Gordon and Murdoch (since 2009) long before the release of FisherPrice models, including the first train of shots that had (and still I have since 1999) was set passenger Thomas (TOMY or Tomica world 1998), among others include several models ERTL, Trackmaster Percy & Henry, James finally to'' Wooden Railway’’.
my opinion the talking feature on these toy trains are cool but are not needed. For example the new talking wooden railway, whats the point? its cool but the whole reason for the wooden railway was for kids to use their imaginations with out batteries and such. plus it gives the manufacturers a reason to raise the price.
good face off with both diesel 10's but you said that all steamies make a chugging sound when moved but with my talking james he does not and when i looked inside him he does not have to the small button under his wheelset which should make to chuffing sound but on my other talking models they have it also i should point out that i bought james this year but my other models i bought last year
Great job Leo. as always I'm amazed by your work. Maybe you could bye another talking Devious Diesel and put his wheel noises in your talking Diesel 10
What you have there is an early ERTL model, they came with switchable faces, I have one or two and if it's in good condition it'd worth around $2.50 U.S, but with a gray footplate, that might just be something special.
Hello Leo, I have an announcement. I have a Talk 'n action Thomas with just the coupling broken, and it stops and the music's wonky. And the wire's ok. Also the sfx. I just have two questions, where is the place of battery, and I'm planning to superglue the coupling part together again. I'll edit the comment for status. Status update: Nevermind, I found the battery compartment lol
The Take N Play Talking trains in my opinion are pretty good but lacks and on and off switch. I have a Take N play Diesel and he talks whenever I accidentally press the button, which really annoys me, I wonder of the trackmaster talking trains have an on and off switch?
talking trains kinda dissasemble an imagination because there pree set recordings and i like to play with my old thomas i got a new thomas and i just wasent the same like the 1998 models if any thing i would get tomy trains and old take along thomas models and it is hard to find a dougles in that format i can only find donold
Hey Leo, having seen this vid, I'm actually tempted to get one of these D10's and try to convert him into a HO/OO runner, if the innards of the shell provide the space to do so.
ahhh do not know why but I prefer (in terms of diesel 10) I am inclined Take Along model, although'' play'' Take & FisherPrice they have added to the attractiveness of sounds and voices, I think that they did to make the difference with models take along, I find the latter better as paint their faces and I perish with more seriousness (in realism) the similarity of Diesel 10, but since these models do not make sounds, I think are better Take along models.
I've got a James from the same era like the one in the box but for some reason he only whistle and does not talk but he can do the puffing noise He like like this right out of the box
As far as I see it, the talking aspect--particularly on the Wooden Railway line--is just a gimmick. It gives the manufacturers justification to raise the costs of the toy and that's about all there is to it. I remember in the 2001 TWR Yearbook, one of the design goals for TWR was to promote social interaction by giving children the "tools" to enable THEM to reenact stories. Having the toys do the talking, how can that possibly aid that functionality?
Huh. One more thing I wanted to ask you, did you notice that the wooden Diesel 10 little caution stripe things on his sides are going the opposite way of the Take-A-Long one's?
Hi Leo I have a question to ask you. I have recently bought an ERTL Thomas with a sticker face. It is marked 1984 Britt Alcroft. While all the ERTLS I have seen have a red running plate this thomas' running plate is a grayish white color. Could you please tell me what I have a rare thomas or a standard older thomas, by the way a sticker is on the back of the drivers cab that shows a tired face. Please Respond When You Can. oldspice671

all of them Talk
Stop talking Thomas when really I don't like you
"Glue your legs on! Glue your legs on, glue your legs on!" Isn't that line hilarious!? 🤣
it's nice that not much has changed, that's rare with Thomas toys
Not much changed between tnp and ta anyway
Got to love 'The fat controller's musical caboose' sounds like a pleasant way to describe breaking wind.
Diesel 10 is everyone's friend now, in fact he's a good engine...no worry about him being bad, he's reformed!
He's DEformed
He devolved
Can i have diesel 10
That’s not like the Diesel 10 we know and love
I saw in the shops a wooden set of the new series and it looked like the old Rusty and the Boulder dressed up in blue....am I seeing right?, hows that for a real mystery..!
good point, yes they are locked on and you can't put a sock in it unless you remove the batteries
yes, who would ever guess a tiny change in width would spell disaster, but hey it's only a toy!
thanks
thank you, the Thomas community are always a good audience, I enjoy treating them to the best I can do....it's fake HD, don't get too excited

i like trains as well, ignore the haters
thats a interesting reverse look at the talking feature, as a parent I can assure you they also remind you to buy batteries as well.!!....battery industry LOVES talking toys
hmmmm, that now has us all quickly looking back at ALL Diesel 10 scenes, that's a very interesting comment
thats interesting as there are a few video's up of people who have Percy who does not chug, but it seems it's a fault only found in a few toys...which character does not chugg for you?
leokimvideo Spencer, Diesel and Flynn. Only my Winston works

not sure, but I bet someone will answer you, loads of Thomas experts watch my videos, they know far more than I ever will
It looks awesome and i love talking diesel 10 from thomas & Friends take n play man this looks awesome indeed after all diesels and steamies are the best and also so cool
2:34 "GIVE US BACK THE OLD FACE!"
thanks, interesting to know and I'm pretty sure I was the same
?
thanks for the UK prices, i'm very familiar with Lego world pricing maybe it's time I got my head around the Thomas stuff
thanks, so thats the same price as Oz, out dollar is equal now, all I am doing is waiting for the Lego price to come down...hmmmmmmm still waiting..!
pinky pie..!
Aaaaaaah its diesel 10 is returned
thanks for your kind comment, hey I'm right into anyone's $0.02 worth, that's what youtube is all about, without your comments this place would be just like plain old TV
I just got a Take'n'play diesel 10 and it is pretty much the same as the original take along diesel 10.
Great review as always, Leo. But in regards to your question about the engines having a talking talking feature (or really any sound feature), I could do without it. Good Thomas Video

Indeed it is, if this was done more often I think they would sell more of their products.
i knew that when i got Talking Diesel 10 you would make a video hes so awesome
-3-; Wow, no wonder walmart is stocked with alot of talking trackmaster trains!
look i got talking diesel 10 too. cool mateys

not really, from what I see just about everything is less expensive in the USA V the rest of the world, it's consumer's heaven in that country
Thank you Chanel for accompanying my childhood 😢😢😢😢😢

I know it may seem absurd but don't you think Diesel 10 sounds a bit like Skeletor?
The Take N Play Talking trains in my opinion are pretty good but lacks and on and off switch.
I have a Take N play Diesel and he talks whenever I accidentally press the button, which really annoys me, I wonder of the trackmaster talking trains have an on and off switch?
Cool diesel 10
Sorry to be extremely nosey but Yeah that is a first edition one!
Nice d
talking trains kinda dissasemble an imagination because there pree set recordings and i like to play with my old thomas i got a new thomas and i just wasent the same like the 1998 models if any thing i would get tomy trains and old take along thomas models and it is hard to find a dougles in that format i can only find donold
i like the weathering on old 2002 d10
in the uk the large engines retail for £9.99 each and the small engines are £7.99 each, the non talking versions of these tretail from £4.99 to £7.99
Hey Leo, having seen this vid, I'm actually tempted to get one of these D10's and try to convert him into a HO/OO runner, if the innards of the shell provide the space to do so.
Are you going to do a video looking into the differences between the American and Australian Prices?
P.S. Yea Fail Reel!
It doesn't even have a CGI face, it still has the model face it an't no 2011 its more like a 2004
Anyone else just waiting for one of the new movies to have Lady in it now?
I love when you say give us bake the old face
They change the eyebrows
GIVE US BACK THE OLD FACE!!!!!!!
The old face is from the magic railroad 2000
The Diesel's 10 Big Adventure
Pinchy is much darker.
How did you pull off the spark effect in the beginning?
ahhh do not know why but I prefer (in terms of diesel 10) I am inclined Take Along model, although'' play'' Take & FisherPrice they have added to the attractiveness of sounds and voices, I think that they did to make the difference with models take along, I find the latter better as paint their faces and I perish with more seriousness (in realism) the similarity of Diesel 10, but since these models do not make sounds, I think are better Take along models.
My talking diesel ten is like the old take along diesel ten
I don't know the price of my take and play Thomas trains but I am gonna get the talking trains too
Take along diesel 10 is my favorite toy train 🚂
my talking diesel 10 has the clicking type of sound when I move the claw around
I've got a James from the same era like the one in the box but for some reason he only whistle and does not talk but he can do the puffing noise
He like like this right out of the box
the newest thomas item i have is my wooden wilbert, well the newest one i have that i actually use
GIVE US BACK THE OLD FACE!!!
talking toys are just wrong but basic sounds (horn, engine) are great

so can you still buy the double moving axel take along diesel 10 I would like to know plz tell me!
Igvvvtbhiaa
Diesel 10 best sodor engine he sould be used more because he is awesome I hate the cgi version modals are way better
do they run with out the talking feature?
have you seen thomas and the magic railroad
leo what happens if your son sleeps with the taking diesel 10 ad presses the button then wakes up shocked
how did you have the sparkle effects at the diesel works?
This is nothing like 2011Diesel 10 it's not CGI it's a model face I would say that's a 2009 Diesel 10 because the face is still in modal
i was hopeing that this video was gonna show me how to take a trackmaster thomas trains face off and on again
i have a talking diesel but does not make a diesel sound and the voice sounds dif.
I Don't Remember A Chuffing Sound With The Take N Play Talking Models For Us Americans
Yes they do.
Where Are The Sparks Coming From?

well my opinion on talking toys is that is fun at first but then you get used to all of the lines and it gets boring real soon.
@leokimvideo Are you sure the talking diesel 10 didn't get stuck because the back wheel arrangement is stuck in place?
Hi, do you know how to make a custom model Pip and Emma?
