Great video, my Grandad was in 3 para between in 1952-54 he fought in Egypt, I will show him this video the next time I see him, he will LOVE it! Thank you!
Don't mess with the red devils. My great granddad served with the 6th battalion in the normandy invasion 1944, he got his leg blown off and survived. Keep up the great work!
great video, i worked with a d day veteran back in 1984 who was in the paras, hell be dead now, charlie his name was, tiny fella but by god immesly strong. i asked him about what it was like his face just dropped so i didnt want to push the subject. i remember him telling me what made him laugh was that the yanks ration packs were far better than theirs where they actualy went to the effort of cutting the zig zag shape out of their tomatoes, i remember him laughing about it. r.i.p charlie
In reply to COGgear1000 two months ago, nobody has frozen in the door, if you look carefully you will see they are doing part alternate sticks, at the beginning of that clip the starbord stick only is jumping, the dispatcher then stops the starboard stick and the port stick starts to jump after which those "frozen" paras in the starboard stick will start jumping again. Must have been a long DZ! In my day I remember one descent when they couldnt get both port and starboard sticks, all 60 of us, out quick enough, I still ended up in the trees! That was over Denmark in the early 70's.
J High That's because the aircraft they were jumping out of were old bombers that had to be converted... At first they removed the rear gun turrets and jumped from the back but it was dangerous. Then they tried cutting a hole in the floor but that was also dangerous. Eventually they just cut a door in the side of the plane.
ZolaMagic25 What party would that be? Perhaps you should take a WW2 history review class, mate. I'm pretty sure British and American Airborne forces were activated around the same times. American airborne troops actually made their first small unit assault in North Africa in 1942. Larger airborne drops occurred in Sicily and Italy in 1943. The glory days of airborne operations took place in 1944 with combat drops in Southern France, Normandy, and Holland. We even had airborne units jump in the Pacific theater as well into New Guinea and the Philippines. Our last major drop was into Germany in 1945. I'm not sure what party our Airborne forces were late for. My original post was regarding your militarys current use of American built transport aircraft as an improvement over the WW2 delivery method of squeezing through a hole in the floor of the plane. I spent 3 years as a paratrooper in the US Army 82nd Airborne Division (perhaps you've heard of this unit), and I respect any airborne soldier from any army. It takes a special breed to jump from an aircraft. I'm also well aware that British and Commonwealth WW2 airborne troops were some of the toughest warriors to ever land on a battlefield.
Its actually a lot more than 70 million considering she is the head of the Commonwealth of nations of about 52 countries and about a quarter of the worlds population.
if you want to make this video so much more badass! mute the music and play " klendathu drop" theme song from starship troopers and start the video from 0.18 and play them both at the same time!
Estimated British and Overseas population. The wonders of google. And yes, she -has- actually seen combat for that matter. She served in WW2 as a driver and mechanic, just to answer your question.
Smash yourself, run everyday till your legs are in bits, determination, grit and make sure you're not afraid of heights ;) - Currently serving in 3PARA
you could say the same question with 'when has british tanks engaged enemy armour' I would say 2003. Just because a military unit hasn't used what its primarily there for in a while does not make obsolete armies are supposed to be 'ready for anything' and army that isn't I would say is pretty 'lame'
marine marine in a boat living proth that shit can float lol no dis to them they do good on a beach we do good behind the enemy so we are cut of they have big ships with big guns to back them up so whos the best oh i think its us
davie mcpa Royal Marines Commandos are trained to fight behind enemy lines too. They just specialise in something different. Marines, amphibious. Paras, airborne. I'd say they're pretty even
Congratulations, you just managed to say every person who has ever served in a non frontline role is apparently to be considered real military. She was a driver/mechanic aiding a war in a city that was being perpetually bombed and part of a family that serves more than most. So the medics at Bastion or REME guys who never end up on the front line aren't real military either? I think you need to play less COD and realise how militaries really work, it's a lot more than just a gun going bang.
just me now, but I believe the unspoken long-term plan would be to reduce to a small but capable National Defence Force as in Sweden, Switzerland etc. Hey, I HATE this but with cuts and so on plus the Fact that it was on the table to amalgamate the RAF into the Army Air Corps.......? Just makes me think, wonder and - frankly Despair! In Britain our forces have traditionally been like a guard dog in that we're neglected and forgot until needed and then.... GOOD BOYS.....OUR BOYS etc. National Safety, Pride and Military Superiority is now taken Totally for granted except by those closely associated with it, and the Proud tradition of Service and Sacrifice (even Ultimately) seems largely - and sadly - forgotten.
Yeah, I heard those new German carriers are coming along really well and... Oh wait, yeah. Germany and Britain are some of the closest allies around, that's what tends to happen when you help the Germans in deterring Soviet aggression for almost 50 years in the Rhine are and in return get to use the place to train with gratitude to the Germans. Grow up a little. This isn't WW2.
Wow they haven't had to be deployed to fight and die is lame. Are you advocating death and war? It's a good thing that they haven't had to jump since then, the whole point of having an armed forces is just in case something happens, not to seek out conflicts.
I see military knowledge is not your strong point last time i looked the UK spends the 3rd most in the world on its military a bit more than San Marino are you like 8 years old lol.
Brilliant Imagery but the music is all bloody wrong, the men are heroes not musical avatars of the demonic kind that the score suggests. Seriously ... change your musical advisor! :-)
SOZ But Queen supper sonic or dire straights brothers in arms you play them and you can find a Para as we will sing them as loud as we can as its our songs
and you would never have got the oh i dont want to so push me like you did in that vid what has happend to p comp and jump school have they got fuck wits running it or have they went soft
So apparently I need to be a serving person to quote publically available facts? Facts are facts, mate. There isn't any arguement against that. Facts which I notice you have no response to other than crude language and lack of correct grammar to cover for a lack of knowledge on your part. Unless you can offer any sourced factual statement to back up your statements? And I see you've confirmed your lack of respect for serving members of the REME and medics, rather poor show chap.
Respect from the US. Glad to have you guys as allies.
Great video, my Grandad was in 3 para between in 1952-54 he fought in Egypt, I will show him this video the next time I see him, he will LOVE it! Thank you!
Another excellent video from the country that I am proud to have a shared heritage with. Greetings from Canada!

Glad to see the British airborne doesn't jump through a hole in floor of the plane like they did in WW2. Weird way to exit the aircraft.
J High That's because the aircraft they were jumping out of were old bombers that had to be converted... At first they removed the rear gun turrets and jumped from the back but it was dangerous. Then they tried cutting a hole in the floor but that was also dangerous. Eventually they just cut a door in the side of the plane.
ZolaMagic25 I suppose that was easier than just using Douglas C-47's like we did. I'm sure the Brits could've acquired them through Lend-Lease.
Perhaps but we weren't waiting around for the Americans to join the party.
ZolaMagic25 What party would that be? Perhaps you should take a WW2 history review class, mate. I'm pretty sure British and American Airborne forces were activated around the same times. J High they did it because they used old bomber aircraft
My dad was in the paratroops as a coms expert :d good on him.....
Excellent stuff, many years ago
D squadron is not listed under it in the Army 2020 ORBAT.
shut up yourself. So freaking rude.
AIRBORNE. Ally as fook. Love it.
How about one for the SAS/SBS
Further to my previous comment, think I got my port and starboards mixed up, senior moment I suppose!!
Its actually a lot more than 70 million considering she is the head of the Commonwealth of nations of about 52 countries and about a quarter of the worlds population.
Can't wait to do this!
best fighting army, pity the government carnt see them right once they've had there pound of flesh joke !!!
if you want to make this video so much more badass! mute the music and play " klendathu drop" theme song from starship troopers and start the video from 0.18 and play them both at the same time!
Why did you leave? I know you have to serve 4 years but i would of re-joined!
This is EPIC.
I really appreciate your profile pic.
What planes did they use in this video?
She was in the army during the 2nd world war as a munitions truck driver.
Estimated British and Overseas population. The wonders of google.

Wherever evil strives to overcome good, and the sound of gunfire drowns out the spoken word,
DEATH RIDES A WINGED HORSE !
are the paras still para trained? i heard about the government stopping the paras from being trained to parachute or something?
They are, yes. Those were just rumours.
Thank you for clearing that for me! I was just worried that if I joined the paras I wouldn't experience jumping off the back of a Hercules
johnnay! :p Actually you won't be able to do that, replacing the Hercules
Yes, Even RHA do it P company so i believe.
Jake Hebblethwaite have jumped from c17 its not the same as a herc but does the job just louder
Hi I'm planing on joining the paras as soon as I get out of school does any one have any tips for me?
