All Americans are friends of Good Ol'e England and I have never meet an American that would speak ill towards are Great and everlasting ally. What's ironic though is that back when America was a colony and when it was first America as we know it today Britain wasn't to kind to us and we also looked down on them yet around 50 years after The War of 1812 we then had Mama daughter relationship. We all still keep tabs on the Royal Family and when ever we here of an attack over in France, England or even Canada we often take it personally because lets face it we are technically one country "The Free World" we all have the same ideals and governmental beliefs to fault and when someone picks on the other one we often are right there to have their back for example WW1 and 2 and even Vietnam and Korea when the French became overwhelmed be Vietnamese force they called the us to aid and we did but eventually that "revolution" was over and they wanted to make a new Government and because are troops where still their we got force into the actions that where their after the war.

Currently training myself so I can have at least a shot at joining their ranks. Only 16 currently, so hopefully I'll have a long career with them. Wish me luck.

+Yics Hazard don't go RFA then into marines or paras, go infantry first if you must. The difference between RFA and elite commando units such as paras or Royal Marines is incredible

You only have to look at the title of the Royal Marines to see that they are Commandos, trained to conduct commando raids behind enemy lines. As stated previously, much more of a comparison to seal teams than the USMC. The USMC are a highly trained infantry. Not commando force. They are not comparable in anyway, other than their ability to conduct maritime infiltration. Pride of the US Marines is one thing but ignorance is another...
I've watched videos of how to get a green beret. And fuck that shit! It's known as the hardest military training in the world! People give up because it's too hard to finish. But getting a green beret must be such a achievement to feel. Even the fittest fail. You have to be superhuman to finish it.
They are not looking for the fittest in the same way the Sas and Sbs dont they will train someone up from the ground you just need to prove your mentality they will add the commando bit you need to have the rest , im traing for the RM and i have a counsin who has done 7 years now so you REALY dont have to be super human fit to start they do that
Majid Ali They all do differant stuff,but the SBS mainly recruit from the marines as the marines as they are trained to have the same values the SBS need.
Fookin Lasersights The SBS was actually part of the Royal Marines back when the SBS was made and the SBS still have the Green Beret but just with the SBS sign on it. I believe.
They are trained harder than most countries elitist special forces regiments, they cannot be compared to other marine regiments from other countries, with the exception of a few, such as the dutch.

KingsofSparta Can't do much about it, American's "big themselfs up" so to speak. The UK have quite possibly the best special forces unit and has been operating on those grounds for many years yet all you will hear about is the Navy Seals. The US have fucked up operations countless times take for example the operation to kill Bin Laden, their special forces crashed a helicopter at the compound.
Worked along side them, been taught alot by them and if your in the shit, you'll want a Royal Marine next to you. You have my full respect gentlemen without doubt the best.

Managed to dig up various footage (difficult to come by) and hoping to use 'Victory' by 2 steps from hell as music. Any advice, softwear, recommendations etc?

Dutch are epic folks to us here in Blighty. Know a few of you guys and without a doubt you are such awesome people. Even if you're all raving mad. :p Royal Marines and Korps Mariniers are excellent allies, always trained well together. Official bond of friendship too.
They have training courses there but it's advised to be quite fit when you sign up so go to the gym any chance you get and practice long distant running.
Go onto the Royal Marines recruitment page on facebook,you should see an 'Apply' button thingy, its not hard to miss. I rung them up and the person on the phone was quality asked me some questions and then set me up for a presentation at my local Armed Forces Careers Office. :) Hope I helped.

@@zabbas9371 Too numerous to detail. The basics don't change much, but the equipment and tactics changed quite a lot. Better boots and personal kit improved. SA80 replaced the SLR. The 9 man section with gun group was replaced by Fire team tactics. More medics at the sharp end. Old canvas field equipment was replaced by gortex. Lighter and better field optics, GPS, radios. Eventually culminating in Commando 21.
Can't wait to join after university, I'm not in perfect shape at the moment but whilst attending uni I'm gonna do my best to study and get myself in shape :) It's gonna be an honour serving in HM Armed Forces.
The reason I'm going university first is to get a degree as an insurance, you never know what might go wrong whilst being in the military. Better safe than sorry.

If you're a Commonwealth citizen and want to join the Royal Marines as a regular you must have resided in the UK continuously for the previous 5 years, with no single period of absence in excess of 180 days at the point of your application. This residency requirement does not apply to citizens of the Republic of Ireland, Malta and the Republic of Cyprus.
The only training course they have is the PRMC which is selection and passing the tests there will depend on whether you go on to the 32 weeks (52 if you're going to be an officer) it's your responsibility to prepare.
