Why Daredevil Is One of The Greatest Superhero Shows - Lost and Found

- For today's Lost and Found episode, we take a peak at one of the greatest shows on television, as well as one of the best adaptations of a superhero, Netflix's Daredevil. Unfortunately, after three fantastic seasons, the show was canceled. All indications point to NO fourth season and NO continuation of the character. For these reasons, it was best to identify why this show was so great via Lost and Found. So, for today's video I show not only why Daredevil is one of the greatest superhero shows, but one of the greatest shows on television in recent memory!

It really sucks that it was canceled. It, along with Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and the Punisher, were my favorite shows on Netflix. And I've always been a DC fan.
@@GoodGamer3000 Yep, they all went one by one. I guess I was dumb and thought that Daredevil would stick around. Then the viewership numbers came around, I knew it was a goner. It's a damn shame.
Daredevil was/is by far the best comic book related show. But i dont believe that viewing numbers had anything to do with the cancellation. I only became aware of season 3 because of twitter and other fans. There was zero marketing. None of my friends knew about the release date!
And dont forget it took more than 2 years to get from seaon 2 to season 3.
If you ask me (and common sense) netflix already knew they'd cancel all marvel shows and therefore they did no marketing for any marvel show in the end. Just check out when trailers / teasers, promos usually get released in comparison to the last season of daredevil or jessica jones.

@@conney3000 I agree. I think it played a role in it. I think numerous factors did. Unfortunately, all the factors worked against the fan base that had grown attached to this fantastic show. In the end, regardless of what the 'reason' is, we all lost. Which is kinda the point I was trying to make in the end. It's ultimately disappointing, but we did get three FANTASTIC seasons.

I really liked the first season of Daredevil s1. It had great fight scenes and the Kingpin was done very well. My only minor problems with it were
1. Daredevil taking forever to get his red suit.
2. Westley getting killed off too fast
3. No great sidevillians
4. Didnt care for stick and felt the origin story could have been done better.
S2 I found ok. I liked a few things about it but also was disappointed with many things. I enjoyed the Kingpin, The Punisher and Electra. But I was disappointed they killed her off so fast only to kill her off again. I feel they wasted her in the series. She should have been in s3. If matt survived she should have as well since they were basically hugging in the end of the defenders. I also didnt like the villians the hand which is another reason why I dont care for the defenders or iron fist.
S3 I felt improved a whole lot from s2 and went back to being great like s1 was. My only problem with s3 are
1. The show getting canceled because this was not a great way to end the series. We need a s4 and 5 and maybe a s6.
2. Electra not being present
3. Bullseye not wearing his own costume
4. Matt going back to the black blindfold kenshi outfit instead of the red suit.
Other than those minor things I found s3 great.
I prefer Arrow s5 and s1 over Daredevil but I do find Daredevil s1 and s3 better than Arrow s2, 3, 4, 6, and 7. And it will probably be better than arrow s8. I dont think arrow can ever top what they did s5. It's easily the best season of Arrow and has the best main villian and best finale of arrow. It went back to being like s1. Got ride of olicity, the flashbacks were great again like s1. Oliver killed again and wasnt holding back like in s2. Only a few minor problems I have with arrow s1 and s5. But the rest of arrow seasons have alot of things I didnt like. I would Daredevil s2 I like as much as Arrow s2, s3, and s6. But find 4 and 7 worse than Daredevil s2.
The Flash I like alot as well mainly s1 and s2. When it comes to marvel shows my favorite are
1. Legion
2. Daredevil
3. The Gifted
4. Agents of Shield
5. The Punisher
6. Jessica Jones.
The rest I dont care about
For DC shows I like
1. Preacher
2. Lucifer
3. Arrow
4. The Flash
5. Gotham
6. DC Legends
7. Supergirl
8. Black Lightning
The rest I dont care much for. Well I havent seen the DC streaming service shows or the marvel hulu shows yet.
I will never forget how brilliant this show truly was! Easily the greatest superhero show EVER

I’m so mad that I hesitated to watch daredevil.
The series is honestly the best thing in the whole entire world, hands down.
Netflix made a serious mistake cancelling it.
I’ve watched every super hero show and Daredevil is a simply a level above. Charlie Cox’s acting is incredibly powerful. Such rich character development. I loved the depth of religion, character, psychology, emotion, and physicality. The fight scenes are incredible! One of the best Netflix shows period. Such a shame that it got cancelled and lost to time.

Yea I agree with everything you’ve said and I want to add something to your point about the physicality part. I loved the way his state of mind affected his fighting.
When he was down, he would take more punches than he needed to, sometimes to punish himself, it seems. When he’s getting beat but someone else’s life is at stake he finds extra strength in himself. And when he’s in rage he goes berserk. But he’s still human and the script reflects that by letting him be defeated multiple times despite how much anime-level rage he had. The show illustrates how out of control of the outcome he is and I love it. Of course there was still plot armor, he still took more losses than I’ve seen from most heroes.
Daredevil is what Batman the Animated Series was; amazing writing and characters.
Vincent DiFornio made Fisk accessible; you understood why he did what he did. You may not agree with his method’s but he was a 100% True Believer in making his world better. He was absolutely robbed of an Emmy for his emotional, authentic, and human portrayal of Fisk
Okay Charlie Cox is fuckin fantastic like I legitimately know people who thought he was actually blind THATS HOW WELL HE NAILED IT like from the looks to the facial expressions were spot on. And ya he has the look but he just fuckin nailed it MAN i love this show
Seeing the conflict within Daredevil's Being extend into his life as a lawyer and a vigilante was the appeal of the character since season 1. The stage was perfectly set to showcase the more realistic angle for the series compared to blockbuster MCU films. In season two, the show did a fantastic job at illustrating the fundamental differences between the perspectives held by Daredevil and the Punisher by relating it to their humanity; the viewer is left to judge for themselves the actions taken to deliver justice and by the end of the skirmish of ideas pinpoint a crucial aspect of a hero - the adherence to one's conviction. There's a certain reliability about his struggles and witnessing the immense psychological impact that his thoughts have on his person makes for great story-telling. This, of course, was the charm of season 3. Moreover, the embedded conflict of the show between Daredevil and Kingpin enriched the character and provided a lot more depth, far more than other superhero films and series have been able to do. Ultimately, there is a deep-rooted passion held for this property by the minds behind this show and that is evident in their craftsmanship. Keep up the good work with your content!
I absolutely agree with everything you said. You could tell people behind the cameras really cared about making this show not only true to the character but quality television. This masterpiece of a series was a labour of love made by some of the most talented people in Hollywood, all of whom absolutely adore the character of Matt Murdock and Daredevil and everything revolving around him.
Daredevil was The Holy Grail of Netflix.
This show was groundbreaking n upto the mark. Me as a viewer don't like violent dramas and action sequences, but this show not only had the best fighting skills it was so well written n had the best character development that you could never say - that's it I'm done. All seasons are great, but I mostly loved season 3, it's a bit slower than other seasons but it really holds you for good. Season 3 the arc was will you be good n win or will you just give up n lose. Spoiler alert Daredevil loses (figuratively) , but man that ending is just fantastic. It feels a devastating disappointment that this show was cancelled just because of money. I believe these days nobody looks for the content it is all about earnings.. Rip my friend Devil, you gave me the best memories for a tv show to remember all along the way..
Vincent is such an excellent Fisk. I hope they get him in the MCU at the first chance. Would like to see a meeting between him and Osborn.
"DareDevil" was Netflix's best show. That being typed, I never did have a use for Netflix, and I know too much about Disney's dark side to ever consider them.
Daredevil was the Breaking Bad of comic book shows.
@Damian Rubio true! Season 2 second half was the Hand set-up. It was far fron perfect. But compare to the trash Iron Fist storyline it was freaking Goldie! Daredevil season 3 was fucking amazing.

not only is it one of the best superhero shows of all time, it’s one of the best SHOWS of all time in my opinion. the storytelling, writing, and acting are all top notch and it deserves so much more praise
While short lived. It’s still one of my favourite tv shows I re watch a lot . Season 1 I rewatched 13 times and season 2 I rewatch 10 times and season 3 I rewatch 5 times it’s one of my all time favourite shows
Daredevil might be my favorite piece of comic book media, and this is coming from someone who prefers DC over Marvel.
I don't even want a daredevil movie reboot, this show did justice to the character.
This shows is easily the best thing about the so called MCU (movies & tv shows included). You don't have to be a fan of that superhero/comic genre to love this. It's so gritty and a proper crime thriller of a show that will appeal to more mature audiences. It's a goddamn masterpiece and reminds me of shows like The Shield and movies like The Departed & Heat. I'm not a comic book guy and the only other superhero movie that I liked was The Dark Knight Trilogy which is probably why I love this show so much. It's the closest thing to that Trilogy.
I think commercially, the biggest problem of the show might have been, that people like me came late to it as I am not a particular fan of marvel series. I loved the comics (daredevil and spiderman) but expect a bit more real character from my film material. Which is exactly what I got in DD. Great job from all people involved!! Tonally, writing, development and the casting has been spot on in every role. Loved what Charlie Cox did with it, of course! Glad about the 3 series!

I didn't love season 2 but season 1 and 3 were exceptional. I love the real feeling combat that I would say I have never seen anywhere else. Good video mate!

@@NaterTot Season 2 certainly wasn't bad I just found Elektra to be somewhat uninteresting. I do admit that I might have just not been paying enough attention to her to become invested the way I should of. Either way it was still pretty good.
@@benjay103 I have the exact same thoughts, didn’t love season 2 because of the elektra storyline but I especially loved season 3 it was literally up there with the greatest things I’ve ever watched, you really are made to feel for every character including Dex and Nadeem and the stakes are so high that I was just sitting there tensed up the whole time.
Some parts that really stood out are when Matt showed his face to Nadeem and of course when I screamed ‘I BEAT YOU’ at Fisk but the whole season and series is a masterpiece

Great video again! In many ways "The Boys" fills a void this left. So I'm that way the universe is balanced or should I say, less unbalanced.
Thank you so much! As for The Boys, I think you're right off the massive popularity it has displayed. I definitely don't put it on the level of Daredevil in terms of technical or narrative achievement but it has more moving parts than anything in the MCU. I still need to finish the last half of the season!

Daredevil is the best thing to come out of the MCU. Alongside Tony Stark and Captain America, I frickin love Matt and his friends, has also the Best Marvel Villain ever to be adapted to live-action and the sweet action baby.

After watching the series (again) THEY HAD SO MUCH MISSED OPPRUITTY TO BRING THIS SHOW BACK! Like with Electra, bring her story back, and bring back the Dex the 2nd/3rd Main Villain, cause then with Electra, we'd have another story where she'd be the bad girl/guy, and then Electra, and Dex team up, and trying to kill Daredevil, but He ends up beating Electra's ass, until she becomes normal, But then Season 5, they have to Fight Dex. He would be another villain, SURE He'd have a good compelling story, and He'd meet with Fisk more, and more (In cellphone prison, and the Locked up, to the table) than they talk about How DEX, can Kill Him, cause Fisk Never said "Ok, But I won't make Dex come after you" LIKE WHY THE FUCK DIDN'T THEY DO THAT SHIT!
And for Dex new suit (Black, and He'd be called Bulls-eye, Like the fucking comic), than with fucking daredevil's suit, He'd have a Black/red suit that has DD For daredevil (Like the comics), SEE I CAN DO THIS SHIT! Why can't they? And YES I get DAREDEVIL Could be In Spiderman 3 (It could end Like MJ/Zendaya Said "This could be the ending") SO WHY THE FUCK NOT MAKE A DAREDEVIL SEASON 4, 5, 6, 7, AND 8 And fuck it, I say we have Matt/daredevil go to, The suit's (From comic, the DD suit (Yellow/red or red/black BOTH with DD for Daredevil.)
I thought the last season was really good and weird what some people complained about. Like my brothers biggest reason for not likely it was that he wasn't wearing the costume anymore which personally thought was ridiculous...
And it won't be as good for the character as the show...because of how tonely differnt the movies are and it would be/his/ movie but as a person who's first intro to daredavil was him defending peter parker in the 90s spiderman show....and how they ended the last spiderman movie...I still have my fingers crossed for charlie cox's matt murdock to be peters lawyer if they are going that route...

I'm truly sad this show is gone Marvel/Disney has been dropping the ball lately in my opinion. The newest Star Wars movies, or how I like to call them Disney canon movies, were pretty bad in content it looked visually good but that's all it's got going for it. The actual story telling was made to just be another way to squeeze some money out of the original Star Wars movies. They looked at the original story and just changed a few details but rushed the original movies into the span of two movies with an added original movie at the end. With marvel they have always made amazing movies, I didn't like end game at all compared to source material, but when it comes to dropping the ball it had to be with daredevil. Daredevil was the best marvel tv show ever arguably with the punisher but the daredevil made me feel the characters challenging story rather than what Rey feeling like a soulless character with nothing to it. That is what makes it amazing seeing a challenge all throughout the show rather than just facing up the challenge but dealing with the challenges a character faces.

Daredevil had the best of the story lines compared to other marvel shows and required highest of the acting talents and the casting was so perfect that it justified the story-line. Rest of the Marvel shows apart from "Punisher" were pure blaahh...May be they are the reason why daredevil is being cancelled.

Just about all of them. I have plans for future content in regards to those, but I also have a lot on my plate.
@@NaterTot I hope it doesnt offend you but i prefer Arrow over Daredevil. Its probably because I have Green arrow bias since hes my favorite DC superhero followed by green Lantern and then the flash. I prefer there stuff over all the rest of DC. Too bad they are ignored alot. DC focus too much on batman where it gets boring and very tiring for me especially because they cant make up there mind what kind of batman they want over the years we have had 10 different batman actors I think they keep remaking or rebooting vs continuing the story. Even though I love Green arrow and his show I will admit it has some weaker seasons. S5 and s1 are great in my opinion. S2 is good too. S6 and s3 are ok. S4 and s7 are bad. I think Arrow s1 and s5 are better than Daredevil. But I think Daredevil s1 and s3 are better than the rest of arrow. I think arrow s2 is better than Daredevil s2. And I think s2 of dd is equaled with arrow s3 and s6. But s4 and s7 are definitely weaker than Daredevil s2. I still like some moments from s4 and s7 but overall there is way too many lows those 2 seasons. Arrow s5 is easily the best season of Arrow in my opinion followed by s1. S2 is good too but it messed up alot on some stuff making it weaker than s1 and s5. This is coming from a Green Arrow fan which is rare to find since most will say Batman or Superman is their favorite DC superhero. But not me.
I'm not too familiar with Daredevil other than the movie and the show. So I couldn't tell you what they get right and wrong.
As for marvel I mainly know alot about Spiderman, Blade, Fantastic 4 and the xmen. The rest I only know what I have seen in movies like the mcu list of films.
@@oliverqueen9886 I just started watching arrow. Completed first 2 seasons and liked it but one thing I couldn't like was arrow himself. The show had good story, action and awesome villains. But I didn't like Oliver that much specially in season 2. In season 1 i was actually happy to see Malcolm own arrow in their 3 fights and was happy that he accomplished his goal. In season 2 too i wanted Slade to kill Laurel, felicity and everyone except diggle. I was also rooting for him to put an arrow through Oliver's eye even though I knew that was not going to happen. And I was sad to when Oliver tied him to the wall. Well anyways I have heard that season 3 and 4 ruined Malcolm and Slade. Is it true?
@@adamtrevor2185 Hi there. I like s1 alot more than s2 as well. S5 is my favorite season of Arrow followed by s1. S3 and s4 are definitely the weakest seasons. Mainly because of olicity drama and the main villians not being that good. S3 is ras and he just doesnt belong on Arrow as a main villian since they never had a big enough rivalry in the comics at best he should have a recurring villian for 2 to 3 episodes at most. But as a main it was a bad idea. I would say malcom is not ruined s3 but s4 he definitely is. S4 he somehow gets worse at fighting washed up. S4 has even more olicity than s3. S2 started created olicity. S3 explored it more and s4 had them fully together. The main villian of s4 Damian Darhk is not a bad villian. He has great charisma similar to Negan from the Walking Dead. But he is way too overpowered for Green Arrow. Hes more of a Green Lantern villian than a Green Arrow villian. He has magical powers. He pretty much feels like he has the powers of Darth vader and also michael meyers powers of multiple lives. Because the guy just doesnt die easily. I would say Slade gets ruined though. Maybe a little bit s3, but s5 and 6 he is great again and back to how he was during s1. S5 finale is many people's favorite episode of Arrow.
If you like Malcom you like like him s3 training thea and accomplish goals again. But s4 will upset you with what happens to him. He did have some redemption in legends s2 and arrow s5 though. Arrow s5 is the redemption season for going back to being like s1. S2 is still good but definitely weaker than s1 and s5 for me. Sometimes I wish the show would be more accurate to the Green Arrow comics. It definitely borrow from Green arrow stories, but sometimes it eidts changes stuff for the worse. The comics are definitely still better for me. The show is not as comic accurate as I would want it but I'm glad that my favorite DC superhero is getting the spotlight for once. I mainly in DC just like Green Arrow, Green Lantern and The Flash. The Flash has his own show now too. Ita a great show as well I recommend you check out. Zoom in s2 of the Flash is easily the most terrifying DC villian ever. The s2 midseason finale does a really great job with zoom. Arrow and Flash both have lots of great main villians and Side villians.

@@adamtrevor2185 what was it about Oliver you didnt like. What good characters did you like and what villians did you like? I think you will like s5 with Prometheus. S6 and s7 have mixed reviews. I would say s6 has a ok first half and a great 2nd half. The villians are great s6. S7 the first half is great but the 2nd half is mostly disappointing. I definitely think s6 is better than s3 and s4. But definitely not as great as s5 and s1. S8 is my 3rd favorite season. I know this is a unpopular opinion what I'm going to say, but I enjoy s6 more than s2. S2 is usually most powers 2nd or 3rd favorite season. Most like s5 or s1 the best. But I personally enjoyed some stuff more about s6. If s6b to 7a was a season instead than it definitely would be better for most people. 6b and 7a are great but there other halfs bring down those seasons for most. S6 feels like the Daredevil season since Diaz says why destory the city when you can take it over. He ends up being a combo of Scarface and The Kingpin corrupting star city and taking over the streets ect. It was cool to finally see a villian just want power take over vs destroy the city which is what we got s1, 2, 3, 4, and 7. I like that storyline finale s1 for malcom Merlyn. But didnt like the idea that most of the main villians had the same idea but on a larger scale. S4 Damian was the biggest scale since he wanted to destory the entire earth. Where malcom the galdes and then slade, ras, and s7 main villian wanted to destory star city. It gets old quick. So it was very refreshing when s5 and s6 villians did something very different from the rest.
