- Why do people lack confidence in West Midlands Police?
It turns out West Midlands Police is the lowest-rated force in England and Wales.
This is the finding of the British Crime Survey, carried out by the Office for National Statistics each year.
The survey found 65% of people in the West Midlands force area said they had confidence in the police - lower than in any other part of the country. The force serves Birmingham, Coventry, Solihull and the Black Country.
I respect her for being polite but there's no such thing as "just a chat" with a police officer on duty.

I agree.... and that was the one thing she let herself down on. It was untruthful and deceptive as she was clearly trying to establish intelligence. Overall . .. a nice lady doing her job. I think she was very disappointed in her colleague destroying the comfort zone and mood that she had created. AB cracked a bad egg.

When a cop says, ‘I’m just having a chat with you’, watch out! There’s nothing casual and friendly about it. Everything you say, can and will be twisted by them to stitch you up.

I also heard that if you are arrested, that you should not say anything until you are being interviewed by the police with a Solicitor. Between the time at which you are arrested and the time you attend a police interview, I think that the police can try to ask you questions which may have a negative impact upon you later on - say nothing until your Solicitor arrives.

Completely agree, there are two approaches by cops, the blunt, demanding ones, they just want to get an aggressive reaction, and the friendly ones. The friendly ones are the smart ones, be very careful with them, they take it all in and look for a way to twist it and use it against you.

Honestly 6:20 was amazing. The way you asked a question before she could every time she tried was beautiful. Her stress levels went through the roof, and her confidence was moderately shook. She's one of the phew that I would trust to go into a house and solve a domestic situation by just calming everyone down, the kind of police we need really. Don't need all this rough and tumble until it's a common law offense.
Don't fall her female charms, AB. She was sent out to gather your details in the female friendly persuasive ways.

It's something I'd like to learn more about, especially if it's having such a significant effect on "our" institutions.

oh boy. one of the best audits i have ever seen. so professionally done, ABS cool calm demeanour. they way he handed it to them. you really got the point across, and it seems some police are finally taking note and realising they cant push members of the public about anymore from exercising there rights. even when the lady got so annoyed that you wouldn't bow down to her commands of identifying yourself, you handled it very well. :)
