Push daggers are viable self defense tools where allowed by state and local ordinances. Some jurisdictions do not allow double-edged daggers of any type and some also do not allow push-type knives at all. Always check your state and local laws before carrying such a knife. Please don't use a push knives for utility when it can be avoided. Unlike good modern knives, push knives are usually made with more ductile metals, bending rather than breaking and more suited for their purpose of defense. Using a push knife to cut cardboard and open packages will dull the softer stainless steels which were not intended for that use and will dull your edge for the emergency you keep it for.
The ring definitely gets in the way. I figured it was a legality thing, like putting an orange tip on a BB gun. Either way, mine fell off after it came in contact with my bolt cutters.
@@b4lknifereviewstesting289 It is for legal reasons, but after you get it it is up to you to determine if you want to remove it or not ,but the ring is so it can't go through a metal detector and Cold Steel will not be responsible if you do.
Havnt had to. I've only carried the fgx a few times. The pal I carried for a little while as an everyday carry. Now it's just an occasional carry. I'm going to do a video soon on my new edc knife. Tops vtac.
I hear you. I live in an area where a non-assisted 5inch knife is legal but 3 blocks north its illegal, but you can carry a 4" assisted. Really doesn't make sense.
I took an Accusharp to the FGX one, and it surprisingly held a "decent" edge to it. Yeah, take that stupid ring off. There is absolutely no reason to it being there, whatsoever.
Lol these push daggers are trash. Cold steel is a garbage company. Try spending more than $40 on a knife lmfao shivworks makes a push dagger a thousands times better and it won’t break the bank either. These are trash.
Showing your ignorance on push knives, Johnny. The Shivworks is very, very uncomfortable to wield unless you have girlie hands. . Also, made in China...Cold Steel is mostly made in Taiwan. Come back when you're better educated. Oh, and just because the Warrior Poet says it's GTG doesn't mean crap. He's out to make $$$ on suckers like you.

Truth.
Thank mom
But a single edged push knife can be used for utility.
@@yourfilipinotv6477 what is the point of using a one sided dagger? just get a box cutter. Right tools for the right job.
Cold Steel AUS 8 is a good steel
Nice
...I carry an Urban Edge on my key ring...no one notices it but it's 'readily available for immediate use'...
Good knife. Quick deployment. I love the secure ex sheaths.
Me too...
I've got a number the Cold steel push daggers (safe maker and safe keeper, all three of the Urban aedges) as well as theFGX safe maker...
I need to get a safe keeper. The urban pal is cool but in a self defense situation It'd be like a mosquito bite.
Cool
Push daggers might inly have a 2 inch blade but you can technically push it further than that
The Ring is there to calm down the people screaming gohst knife for plane hijackers
Lol. Ghost knife. Nice.
This is why you never allow F psychos near you 20 feet 🦶 max
Last line of defense for sure.
I have the safe maker 2 and man the sheath clip sucks. But i like tha actual blade
Honestly not a huge fan of this clip either. now that I've carried it, I am going to buy the clamp style.
Gotta get rid of that ring , will interfere with a fast, sure gripping in an emergency.

What’s the update??
Did you blue loctight the screws yet??

Where did you get that aftermarket sheath???
Ebay.
Where im from i can't even carry an 11 cm knife, but i can carry a damn single-edge push dagger with a serrated edge, pretty funny don't you think?

@@b4lknifereviewstesting289 many countries have strange knife carrying laws
Can you give me the link where you got that FGX dagger and the sheath, bro? Thanks
Actually I found it on eBay. Search FGX Cold steel kydex and a bunch of sellers and options pop up.
@@b4lknifereviewstesting289 thanks man

I have a ken onion and a lansky set. I might try to sharpen the fgx.
@@b4lknifereviewstesting289 I mean it gives it an edge, obviously not like steel, but it would do more damage than leaving it as is.

I will look into shivworks, but I disagree that cold steel is trash. If anything they are becoming over priced. But what isn't these days.
