As a fixed wing long range FPV guy, the Amber message I hear the most when I fly is 'Inactivity alarm'. That makes a display like this all the more impressive. Respect.
JEFF! Myself, and @RubenRC were telling you telepathically to go fly your RS4 Venom. We were using the "Jedi Mind Trick" and it worked, LOL. Something I've noticed and I think it says A LOT about how great you fly. You make these Heli's, large or small, fly in the wind like there's no wind AT ALL. You are THAT smooth. I used to fly 4 line Revolution Stunt kites. I practiced almost everyday for years. Back when they used to actually have Stunt Kite competitions mainly on the east and west coast, I entered a few times and won the Master's Class divisions. I was invited to enter the east and west coast stunt kite championship competitions, but I never went. One thing I had as an advantage over the other guys in that class, was they were almost ALL Beach Flyers. Perfect winds coming off the ocean. The terrain I come from is nothing but Gusty, Choppy, wind speed changes not to mention directions. There are huge Mountains everywhere around here, hence the reason for the horrible winds. I got to where I could fly the quad line in ANY condition, and make it look as if I were flying in perfect winds blowing a consistent, unobstructed breeze. I see YOU have mastered this with these heli's no matter what size.
Thank you! I greatly appreciate that. When I learned how to fly, it didn’t matter if there was wind or no wind, we went flying. I am a firm believer that you must practice flying in windy conditions, as well as calm conditions, because not every flying day is going to be perfect. You must know how to Micro correct for those conditions. That is awesome! I have never played with Keith other than when I was a kid but never stuck coats. Those things look cool and it’s crazy what you can do with a kite! The RS4 venom is a blast! Insane power and lite!
Great flight man. I haven't owned the RS4 but from what i have seen from owning the M4 and then going to the 420 is i really like the "floatiness" of the 420. Goosky definitely made a winner with their helis, maybe there's a 420 or 500 in their future? 😁 One thing i did forget to add is although i am really into low headspeed flight, i do love those "overspeeds" They sound awesome.
So when I flew the M4, I noticed that the venom flew a lot lighter and had more power. Now when I compare the venom to my 423 venom is definitely lighter a lot floaty are in powerful but the 420 just has a really solid steel in the air that none of the others have come close to. It’s kind of hard to explain. (I’m sure you noticed it) I love low head speed, flying as well, but those high head speeds and over speed sound and incredible
Just got mine up and running. Loved the build, from UPS to the flight line was 1 day. Woulda been faster if I knew what I was doing with the Hobbywing ESC😂. I’ve never flown anything like this before I’m used to lethargic Nitros (I realize the draw to electric power now)…I’m old school just getting back into it and I’m having a blast with it…flew about 8 times today😁
That’s awesome! It is such a great little helicopter. Insane power compared to Nitro’s. Flight! The helicopters today with the newer Nitro engines have really good power to weight ratio. Big gearing is so much better than it used to be and the bottles are a lot lighter faster, throttle Servos, better, governors, etc.. of course no where near the power of electric but I still love my nitro.
I was surprised that Goosky succeeded where the RAW 420 DD didn't. Maybe because the Goosky motor provides good power AND good flight times. Now they reign supreme as the only "direct drive" non micro 3d heli on the market. 👍 The Raw motor ran super HOT unless you bumped the rpms way up, and then flight times were then reduced to around 2:50 per flight... according to my haphazard research. But it is hard to know exactly whey they dumped the DD for a traditional motor approach. 😁
I love my 420 DD. I personally fly at the most out of this class helicopter, but it definitely lacks power under hard collective. One of the reasons being that it swinging a 420 MM blade where the RS4 swings a 390. So of course smaller disk lighter load less bog on the motor. SAB went back to the conventional motor set up for multiple reasons from what I understand but the biggest being flight times and overall power to weight ratio for that specific class of helicopter. But I wish they would’ve just re-designed it and made it lighter and a more powerful direct drive motor.
I just built mine and hooked everything up but I burned up the tail servo so I put a different one in and it starting heating up but only the tail servo. Would you have any idea why?
Can't wait to pick one up in a few months. I'm just going to get the combo kit because I've had really good luck with the S2 and I think goosky makes a decent servo and flight controller
The combo kit is actually not bad. My only complaint with it is the FBL. It has a lack of tuning to your flying style and it just doesn’t feel connected in flight if that makes sense. It’s definitely not as great as the S2 FBL but the rest of the kit is great. No issues.
@@westhobbiesrc8051 I can always upgrade to an ikon if I don't like the goosky fbl. Still sounds like a nice kit. You said you use liperior or liperiair batteries on this?
Nice flying Jeff!! are you planning an RS7?? Im thinking of retiring my 700e, and getting the rs7. Anyway, Super windy on this side of the state today but the Thunder Valley Nationals are here so im gonna run down and smell some nitro!!
Enjoy the nitro, it’s acceptable for a grown man to cry 😢, I went to the last drag race at Orange County Raceway back in 81 ? and the last drag race at Sacramento Raceway Park last September there was a airshow also going that day, I bought the Fusion Blade 360 smart, the Pro Boat Jet Stream and a DX-5 rugged green that day. 😊no need to go to Sacramento for awhile 😂
I believe BK Hobbies has the M7 in stock as we speak. But I do plan on buying one eventually. I would really like to build and fly it looks like a really nice helicopter and I like a lot of the features. That’s awesome! Go have fun and enjoy that.
Great flight Jeff, especial at idle up 1 / low rpm. Question:Is there a big difference between the RS4 Venom and the RAW 420 DirectDrive in the flight performance? Thanks, Reto
Thank you! I appreciate that. There is actually a bit of difference between the two. The biggest difference is the 420 is a lot more precise as it is heavier and it flies a little heavier where the venom is very nimble, light and insane RPM.
Okay. Makes sense then, considering the 70% flat curve the regular RS4 tells you to set idle up 2 at. I was thinking about bumping mine up a little, and you may have just convinced me.
Crashed my S2 today. No damage like most crashes 😊. But the rpm’s are all over the place all of a sudden. It goes from way to high to very low. Any idea of what that could be Jeff?
@@westhobbiesrc8051 yeah the whole flight. The rpm goes up for about 10 seconds en then drops down for a few seconds. Then goes up again. Sometimes to normal rpm, then to go up again. My timer was worthless because it drained the battery a lot quicker as well. Almost dropped out of the sky with cell voltage of 3,3v 😬
The newer hobbywing/goosky esc that's included in the new kits can start slow but I believe that's not a function of the original 70amp goosky esc unfortunately 😕
watching this makes me wanna practice in the sim!
I really need to get back on the simulator as well. I’m just so busy that I never have time to sit down and actually practice like I want.

Just got my RS4 last week. Looking forward to the build, first stop, though is Jeff’s build series.
I hope the videos are helpful! You will really enjoy that model.
Absolutely! Thank you so much. I probably would not have purchased it, having never built a helicopter before. Gives me great confidence.
Great flight Jeff!
You talked me into getting the Venom last year and it has been outstanding! No regrets!
Thank you Cory, I’m glad you are enjoying the venom. It really is a great helicopter. I don’t fly it enough.
