    You can transfer data, its not H1Ns fault, its the USB cable. Not all USB cables have four pins enabled (2 for data + 2 for power). Crisp and clean audio, great recorder!

    The way to tell the difference between if you're using the "right kind" of micro USB cable or not is that the "right kind" is usually a thicker cord. If the cord is lightweight/thin, it's probably just for charging and not for data transfer.

      I used the cable that was provided by them. But it just powers the Zoom H1n, but does not show the USB menu. Something wrong?

  • @ZahaX
    @ZahaX 4 роки тому +5

    The problem came from my cables, if no menu is appearing on your Zoom H1n, that is because your cable can't transfer data, he can only charge. Try buying a new one that can transfer data and it will work! (It is usually wrote on the package when you buy the cable)

    Used a microSD card adapter as none of my cables worked - not even a new Sync and Charge one. Seems like you need a 'beefed up' USB - not just any old USB cable. It's a bit unclear on Amazon whether the cables advertised for H1n are just for charging or whether they will transfer data. Also beware of getting one for H1 - looks like a different shape to H1n. I guess I will still need a new cable if I want to use the H1n as a microphone for PC - must have lost my original one.

    Hmmm. When I plug into my Chromebook and turn on the H1n it doesn't automatically go to the card reader menu, goes to the first recorded track on the SD card. I'm trying to figure out how to get to the Card Reader menu so I can follow the rest of the steps for downloading. The recordings sound GREAT on headphones or plugged into my amp. Any navigation advice appreciated!

    hi thanks so much for the video, you actually helped me to transfer my files.
    I'm not to good on computer plus legally blind so when i watch tutorials on almost anything, i must not be seeing everything or not comprehending what I'm supposed to do but yay to john, you actually helped me so i thank you kindly. what happens when i cant figure out a tutorial, my brand new item ends up in the bone yard and now and then i'll pull it back out a yr or so later and give it another try or i end up giving it away. Cameras, Laptops, accessories for them, kitchen appliances, TV and so much more, some times i get so frustrated i throw it in the trash, stuff under $50 that is hehehe. I get to keep the Zoom H1N out of the bone yard hahaha and it gets to be with the few pieces of equipment i figured out how to use at least the minimum functions to use it. i have 2 video cameras each cost over $1,000 plus all the accessories,

    This did not work for on the current version of Windows 10 (build 19041.508). After I connect the H1n to my PC and select Card Reader mode, I hear the 'new device connected' sound but nothing shows up. I don't see H1n in the This PC window. The only thing that worked for me was this: I open Minitool Partition Wizard and see that the H1n disk is visible but there's no drive letter assigned to it so I assign one. You can see the same thing in Windows Disk Management as well (diskmgmt.msc) but Windows doesn't allow you to set a drive letter for the H1n partition there. Only thing that worked for me was to right click on the disk partition in Minitool Partition Wizard and select Change Letter. Pick any drive letter here and then apply changes. This is just a temporary fix because if you un-plug the H1n and plug it back in it stops being recognized again and you have to repeat the process of assigning a drive letter again which is thoroughly annoying and I'd rather use a card reader at this point.
    @ZoomSoundLab if you're reading this, please figure out a permanent fix for this. Maybe a firmware update?

    I took the wired mic that came in the bundle, with me to my band rehearsal and recorded the entire rehearsal. I thought I would avoid hearing too much piano out of that nice Yamaha P-255 because of the built-in speakers by hooking it on top in the middle of that plastic music stand. When I arrived at home and hooked it up to my computer, Listening to it in my earplugs, I was upset because that little 'two-lined stereo plug only recorded in mono! Have any of you had that same problem? I sat in front of my computer and did a test by speaking to my H1n without the mic, then plugged it in about two times to listen to the difference, it was still doing the same thing. I was hoping it was something I did wrong. If this is true, I will never use that little mic again.

      Yes, came to this video bec of this, it's th ezoom device, i have ruled out card, cable , getting way faster speeds using card and cable on another attached device, i put the card back into the Zoom and slow ass speeds read and write never going above 4MBps, so i can assume Zoom's CPU is just fast enough for the recording but not high speed transfers. So best to take card out and put it into a reader or other device to transfer large files.

      You can reduce the sample rate of the audio you are recording in. If you are recording in WAV, you can also switch to MP3. Of course, these will degrade the quality of the audio slightly. If the file size is that big after recording, you can always compress the audio file to reduce its size.
