@tantibusking7095 my only signature guitar is the Noel Gallagher Riveira, I'm a big Oasis fan, and there's not an entire market saturated with Noel signature models.
Planetary refers to the gearing. They aren't banjo tuners. Banjo tuners typically aren't gear reduced. Planetary gears involve a center gear with "planet" gears surrounding them encircled by a ring gear. Banjo tuners are 1 to 1 friction tuners.

After a quick check I see your right. The only banjo tuners I've dealt with are old ones. Which are friction pegs. No gears. Much like old violins. Learn something new everyday I suppose.
Why doesn't Epiphone make a Pearly Gates model. They would sell like...CRAZY!
The Epi watermelon 335 is just a color change from an Epi Cherry 335 with a bigsby that came out a few years ago. I recently picked up a used cherry version at half the retail price. It has CTS pots and Epi probucker pickups. The fit and finish is quite good. They are not that popular due to the bigsby (people don't seem to care for them much) and didn't sell all that well. Be interested to see how the watermelon version sells.
I think the blues guys that are into the watermelon finish probably already own a faded 355 or something like that. Maybe the faded look will find a new home in another audience
Had the cherry version since a couple of months and very pleased with it! I think it would be the same with that model and the watermelon is a beautiful color!
Sire’s lineup from Namm looks very interesting. I’m specifically the L3’s that resemble a Junior. Gloss body, satin Neck, and rolled fret edges for under $500!
Gibson is heading right back where they were. There’s no reason for that SG Supreme to be north of $3k.
Gibson have priced themselves out of my range…and I can’t bring myself to get excited about Epiphone. But Guild and EVH have me very interested.

The pickups are what they renamed the Slashbuckers after they got grief from Duncan not long after the Slash standards were introduced. It's been 3 years or so since they changed the name.
I really wish that Gibson would look at their lower end guitars, with recent price hikes. A sub $1500 SG Jr. in fresh colors like shell pink or seafoam green would be cool.

Funny how people seem cool with the $1200-1500 Epiphone prices now. The Bonamassa ES-335 got a lot of flack when it was released but at $1300 its specs are right on par with the Dave Grohl model save for the cosmetic differences and it’s likely $200 cheaper.
So not cool with it. I won’t pay it.
I really like most of the OVER $1,000 Epiphone's. But doubtful I'll ever buy one. To much money.

I can’t wait for the Firebird 1. Definitely going to snag one, who knows, I may even refinish it to some type of nitro sparkle finish. I do hope they are not super expensive. A USA Theodore is going to be sweet, imagine one of those in a Blueberry burst!! ❤❤

If we want to talk about crazy looking gibson-style guitars that got revealed, the kauer gripen deserves a mention. My friends and I have been going nuts looking at them.
FYI... the new Guild Polara also comes in a Deluxe version with block inlays ($699 and made in Indonesia). There's also a new Kim Thayil Signature in vintage white w/gold hardware ($899).

@@Shaked137 What does that have to do with me pointing out there are more new Polara models than were mentioned? The vintage white Kim Thayil model didn't come out yet. Whether he reviewed the older black one or not really has nothing to do with the white one or new models coming out.
For your information: When Ubukata Shinichi made his Gibson signature with Gibson, it's said that Dave Grohl participated in the design(I don't know why) of Ubukata's signature guitar. So Ubukata gave one of his 150 Gibson signature as a gift, and Dave Grohl smashed it for his music video 'shame shame'.
I believe it is because they toured together and he liked Grohl's guitar. I remember talking about it in my Shinichi review
I think it is interesting to watch Epiphone trying to grow out of the - extremly competitive - sub 500-600 bucks market and more and more entering the mid-price / premium import market. What I like about this is how most of these more expensive Epis have real distinctive character to them.
The main question will be: have they stepped up their game in the chinese epiphone factory accordingly to ensure the kind of QC that we can and should expect from 1000 bucks import guitars?
If the Inspired by Gibson's are a clue...they're gonna be great guitars! I bought a new Black Epi SG Custom and honest to God I think it's a better guitar than the Gibson SG Std it replaced... And...its not just a little better! The Axe is flawless! Frets are perfect... Same goes for the nut...and it stays perfectly in tune and plays like BUTTAH! To say Im impressed is a massive understatement! My next Axe will likely be an Epi Inspired By Gibson Black Beauty LP Custom.
@@ahighervibe4086 while never having owned one of these newer epis, I played some. They are very solid but nothing special and compared to the rest of the (as stated: extremely competetive) market at the 500 - 600 bucks pricepoint even on the pricier side of things. You get a Sire Lary Carlton Les Paul type guitar for guite a bit less money with better specs (rolled fretboard edges, bone nut, locking tuners). And the core-experience of a SG or LP you can have in a basically flawles guitar for 250 bucks nowayday, no sweat.
Now: the 1959 Epi was what I was talking about, or the Jared James Nickols (g)old glory, bit pricier but with gret PUs, a hardcase and some serious distinct vibe about them - overall a great bang for buck.

Glad to see epiphone coming out with fresh stuff. Ibought a epiphone what looks like that 54 reissue with p90s .Nobody at guitar center could tell me anything about it. Man that thing had killer pickups in it , I wish I knew I returned it becaulse I fell in love with a revstar . I replaced pickups with semore dunkan custom bridge & vintage neck . If I knew what pickups where in the epiphone I would have gotten them . Any ideals ?

There is already a review of the Kim Thayil version (in black, there is now also a white version) from some months ago, but the "regular" models are not identical to it (pickups are different) and I definitely want to see them getting reviewed in depth too.
My local shop here in Europe says the Epiphone DG is going to retail at around 1300€, they managed to order 2, delivering early April according to them.
They also say that their Epiphone catalog shows it’s a limited release 🤔🤔🤔 I didn’t hear that info anywhere else so far. Hope it’s not going to be the case.
Don't worry dude, the real limited edition version produced by EPI last time was JOE's Black Beauty LP.
At that time, the production line had just changed in 2020, and the quantity produced was not very large.
The most common things I've heard about EPI from stores are limited production or the immediate interruption of a certain product, but none of them have happened.
On the contrary, due to excessive production, there have even been cases of wood mixing in EPI's LP.
I just don't know if it's only blue, I really like the new white DG335.
I would LOVE an epi version of the Theo. Wrap tail piece, p90 and all the same things. Id definitely consider getting them. But if epi gets the "standard" version, i couldn't care less.

I like the EVH models the best of all the ones that were presented in this video. My personal choice among those would be the “tobacco burst” (I think you called it) version.
Incidentally, I find it interesting that someone is suing Gibson for a change.
They deleted two control knobs from the Theodore standard too.
Lots of cool models especially the Firebird Vs with the walrus tooth vibratos! Why did they put humbuckers in the USA Theodores though ughgh! Just makes it more of an SG style guitar. Love the EVH guitar wish they were covered pickups though, looks better that way imho. Also like the Guild Polaras too and more options even though I already have one and one is enough. Still nice to have options though 👍

I like the Custom Shop Theodore. The USA version does not appeal to me. No walnut strip, no p90s, no simple wrap tailpiece. The USA version reminds me of what happened to the Coronet and Wilshire when they sent them to be produced in Japan, and how they look compared to the original Epi USA models. I'm kind of sad, because I was hoping Gibson USA would issue a Theodore true to the "original" spec's. Perhaps Epiphone will one day.
The J45 Custom just got my attention. What are the NGD details? You might catch me in a moment of weakness. LOL

The Slash Jessica models being three piece almost looks like it's spotlight special in the wider version but without the walnut band in the middle. Only because the middle looks a little lighter.

I’m a huge Van Halen fan, but my playing style is more blues. Cannot wait to try an SA-126 when I get a chance.
I wish it had a 25.5" scale instead of 24.75. Everything else about it is unique compared to the majority of semi-hollows out there except for that.
@@Darth.Shredder Yeah I agree. I have 5 guitars right now and they’re all 25.5, probably would be more comfortable for me. I’d also love to see a P90 version come out.

I don’t think the Supreme truss rod cover looks silly. It’s similar to the Stereo covers from the 345

Hello there. So I managed to get a DG335 a bit earlier (last Friday 🎉) via an independent retailer here in France. As usual on a new guitar I condition the fretboard and change the strings. And when I change the strings, the nut fell. It wasn’t even glued… Not a big problem but still a bit disappointing… Did you experienced something like this on a guitar over 1k? Anyway, keep going, great videos!
they need to make a short scale Theo basses and actually staple p90 guitars as deluxe black mahogany models would sell fast if they made them with abalone and ebony

The Theodore guitar looks like a steal from the Teisco Tulip guitars back in the 60's-70's

Yup. Those are very top heavy! Be aware. I had one of the Bonamassa ones. It was hard to play and stand up at the same time. Headstock keeps wanting to drive down.

Pertaining to the Kim Thayil Guild 100, I cant believe it took so long for Guild to give Kim a sig model. Personally when I first started playing guitar, he was and is the only guitarist Ive ever seen using the s-100 or a guild guitar in general. It seems like military olive drab green paint finish has replaced the military Camouflaged finish.. I remember in the early 2000-2010s a lot of metal guitarists were obsessed with camo finishes like Jeff Hanneman and Will Adler. I personally never liked camouflaged guitars esp digital camo. When it comes to military Olive drab green finish the first guitarist I saw playing with that was Bill Kelliher.

planetary refers to the layout of the gears - the sun gear that drives the orbiting planet gears that are the reduction in ratio. the additional contact points make them quite strong/reliable.
Where can I find more info about the Gibson Les Paul “Jessica” model? It is not on Gibson’s website.

Back in 2020 when the Inspired by Gibson line for t came out I was bummed to see that many had QC issues like uneven frets...but Gibson must've sent some higher ups to China to get those factories where they needed to be because I've noticed that the newest Inspired by Gibson guitars are VASTLY IMPROVED over the initial runs. With that in mind I bet these higher end Epiphone guitars will be excellent instruments! I recently bought a 2022 Epi Inspired by Gibson SG Custom that is honestly amazing! It is almost my all time favorite guitar that I have ever owned, and that's no small feat as I'm 56 yrs old and have owned MANY MANY great guitars over the years including vintage Ibanez Musicians and Artists as well as a 59th Anniversary Strat, a.fireburst Gibson SG supreme, and a Gibson Les Paul Supreme to name a few! It's crazy I know... But there's something about that Epi SG Custom... I knew from the moment I picked it up and plugged it in...It's a beautiful guitar.
I'd like to buy a new Epi Black Beauty to go with it!

The EVH SA-126 is the Wolfgang Van Halen signature (the guy in the picture you show in your video). That's Eddie's son, and the bass player for the later years of Van Halen. The hole is called an "E-hole" (instead of an f-hole). The name of the guitar is a reference to Eddie's birthday, January 26.

Super happy for something you missed in this video…that the Guild Kim Thayil Polara is now in white as well as black at the lower price point!!! I thought there would only be custom priced whites but they just released it with zero fanfare. I love that teal blue color but it’s a white with gold hardware and the out of phase that’s the winner!
That red Epiphone Firebird with the vibrola is pretty sweet but it’ll be a bit too pricey for me.
Any idea when Gibson will release some Steinberger’s? I heard they were making those guitars now.

I just got the Firebird V in red from this series. Fantastic guitar but expensive, $1,700. I think it’s absolutely worth it.
