It really is wild that Andertons didn't have Strandbergs until now, you guys should definitely do more videos with Strandbergs and an Ola interview!
Yes we want a full episode of different Strandbergs with some comparisons and preferaby a sound comparison of a regular Strandberg and a TT fretted Strandberg.
would love to see Ola bring out some old prototypes (perhaps some that haven't seen the light of day before) and go into a bit more depth on the progression of Strandberg guitars from idea to reality
So much hype around strandbergs.. I sold mine. Wouldn't stay in tune. Their stock pickups are not great which is a huge ding to the value IMO. Easy fix, but the price is too high. Horrible resale value. WIth that said, the shape is great and I love the versatility of how you can hold the guitar. Light as a feather. Loved it had fanned frets which is rare. Once more guitars implement the design Strandberg is less relevant.
Probably one of the better Strandberg videos out there, so cool!
Lee, what a great interview! We can tell your like a kid at a candy store excitement with the Strandberg line. I’ve gotten so excited that I went to the website and put myself on the waiting list for the budget version in granite black and I’m not even a shreader! At 70, I think the design would be a perfect match for me! Thanks and take care of that voice, sounds like you’ve done a lot of talking. Ola, what a down to earth guy.
I have had my Stranberg now for about a year and I love it. At a little over 4 lbs it has solved my back issues while playing and is easy on the wrist. I’m 77 so you have lots of great playing ahead. I also added black stick on fret markers which are much more visible than the small dots provided. Applied well and the granite color looks great.
Love Strandberg! 😍
So cool that Anderton's will be carrying Strandberg! Still hoping for a Plini and Captain episode!
Ola seems like the most genuine person. That's so refreshing.
Strandberg is one of these kinds of companies I'll tell my kids about in 30 years: "I was there when this entire thing started (ergonomic guitars)".
It's cool to see people getting behind the ergonomics thing, I think a lot of people look at strats/les pauls as the ultimate/end-game guitars, but they're kinda not, I really appreciate brands like this that push stuff forward, the true temperament section especially. I wish I could afford one.
I remember someone saying once 'the metal guys get all the cool shit', the truth is, everyone got the cool shit, it's just the metal guys where open to actually trying it, but everyone else is now seeming to catch up, it's good to see
It’s soo fine to finally see you guys connecting! Very exited for any future strandberg content on the Andertons channel! Check in with Connor Kaminski , man is a beast player and seems like a comfortable guest / strandberg ambassador.
Congratulations! to both of you. I love my strandbergs and I love watching Andertons videos so, get 'em together! WOO
Ohhhh yes! This is the brand I need one day.
Glad to hear that you'll be selling strandbergs, I own 2 already and looking to get another later this year, so I will have to pop by your store when the essential range comes in!
What is the main thing you like so much about them? Or is it a combination of things?
I'm thinning the herd, too many guitars that I just don't use, but damn I'd like a Strandberg.
Getting into Strandberg’s actually thinned my herd of guitars. I got a 6 and then an 8 and I just can’t see myself going back to "normal” guitars. Except for my acoustic I don’t even touch my other guitars so it’s made up my mind to get rid of most of them.
LOVE Strandberg!
Wow. I get the point of Strandbergs now. And I wanna try one now. Good questions met with qood answers Lee and Ola.
My strandberg has changed my playing…I play with a lighter touch, I’m faster and best of all…no more hand pain😊
Same here. I had to stop playing. And then heard Erin Coburn and bought my first Strandberg. The Endurneck is like nothing else. And the weight under 5 pounds? So now I'm looking at my 3rd Strandberg.
I have to try one now. I love the body and neck contour. I so love the collapsing frame. Very cool concept ❤
I love the design elements of Strandberg guitars! Allan Holdsworth is one of my guitar heroes.
I held a Strandberg for the first time just a couple weeks ago and I couldn't believe how much I liked it. I thought the neck would throw me off, but it surprised me how comfortable it was. I hope to buy one some day, but they are spendy! Thanks Lee! It was great to hear from Ola. Hope to see a "Strandberg Line" video from Anderton's this year! Thanks for all the NAMM content!
Glad to hear Strandberg are doing a budget version. I've been looking on Reverb for a decent and well priced 2nd hand one for years.
The only other guitar brand I'd like to see Andertons retail is Manson.
Fascinating stuff! The best NAMM interview that I've seen. Ola is very interesting to listen to. Please bring him to Andertons to do an in-depth video.
I'm a 45 year old and my main guitar is a 335, so these are far from what I'm used to, but I'm really hoping to get to try one now that they're affordable.
Great to see someone else other than guitarguitar flying the strandberg flag
That’s good news. I bought one recently and it’s the best guitar I’ve ever played.
Crazy that I have been on the fence about buying a strandberg. This video has given me confirmation to pull the trigger!
That Salen he picked up at first is incredible.
This is one of Lee’s best interviews - great conversation and doesn’t feel forced at all.
Yes! Finally I can start getting something I've been gassing over through my favourite retailer
Great interview! It’s been years since I’ve tried a Strandberg.
So great to see my local guitar brand!
I like these concepts. This interview makes me want to try a Strandberg. I'm most inteested in the neck design (Headless, trapazoidal, and multi-scale).
Chris from Scale the Summit getting some love here 🫡
wow!!! the man is a genius!
Wow look fantastic
It's refreshing to see something different than yet another S, T, LP style. It's like Johnny Silverhand's guitar! I have some TFCC ligament damage in my fretting hand too so will definitely be checking these out. Ola is a complete nerd, I love it!
Looking forward to the video with Ola, Lee and Pete in the Anderton’s studio. ✌
Finally! Can’t wait for the videos and erm (checks banking app), ‘purchase options’…
I've heard about that guitar building forum Ola mentioned. There were a lot of guys on there trying the ergo thing. I guess he was the one who nailed it.
Since my 1st strandberg ~5 years ago, I've only gotten headless guitars since. Have 2 strandbergs and 5 other headless guitars now from 6 to 9 strings some are super custom very expensive guitars from small -large builders.... But still...I always come back to my strandbergs because I love that neck. Hoping for a new neck through model soon and some cheaper true temperament ones sometime in the near future.
I’m still waiting on Strandberg to make a 6 string baritone version. I would be all over one of those because I’m very interested in Strandberg but play mostly baritones. Please Ola!! 😁
That guy standing behind Ola chewing gum and picking his nose was hilarious.
Please interview him next, Lee!
He is why everyone comes home from namm sick. They call it nammthrax for a reason.
The crazy thing is that early guitar technology, even as early as the 30s and 40s was profoundly modern and innovative. The push for more modern guitar design basically halted in the mid 50s and it hasn’t really changed since nor has the way that most people approach guitar playing. It’s great to see people still pushing things forward imagine where it will be in another 30 years.
My question is: when are they ever going to have the official Strandberg guitar stands back in the store? I never got to buy an old one and they stopped making them. The clear looking stands displayed in the background here look like the same design so they must be making some.
Looking forward to seeing Lee and Danish Pete ripping it on 8 strings in a video soon 🤟
excellent news. big Strandberg fanboy here ...
Need to move the pickup selector, or change to a rotary knob, since it is easily hit when strumming the guitar.
Any plans for an Essential model with a tremolo?
When you get them in stock I’m in…
I want a Salem jazz hollowbody with a trem!! Please ola!!!
I watched this yesterday and last night I had a dream I went to a hardware store and mr. Anderton was there and sold me a strandberg with a sophia bridge
That P-90 one looks hot
Where can i buy those plexi transparent guitar stands?
That’s what I need.
lefty options
Wow. A Strandberg for under a grand? That is news.
Fretless bass please.
Not a word about Plini. surprising.
❤
and can we have a Strandberg guitar stand please Ola?
String swing makes a body holder. I use string swing UKE wall mount for my 6 strings. Works perfect!
Yes! Been waiting for them to make more official stands. They look like the same design they used to have in their store, but clear here. The old ones were supposed to come apart as the 2 pieces and fit in your gig bag.
Dealers doing business at NAMM. That’s what it’s all about
Still a LOG neck:)
On paper I should hate strandberg but I think they look and sound so cool. I hate headless guitars and not massive on modern looks but something about them. I really like their take on the tele and the Strat. I just don't understand though why their overseas made guitars are so damn expensive?! They're as expensive as American made fenders and some gibsons
Finally I can afford a strandberg
For the prices they charge they sure do seem to have a lot of QC issues. Way too many for my comfort if I'm spending that kind of cash. I'll be interested to see if they figure out how to improve that. It would be nice to hear him at least acknowledge that it's a problem and that they're trying to fix it but they keep sweeping it under the rug. That will keep me from buying one of these very interesting guitars for quite some time.
Who is having QC issues? You make it sound like it’s some widespread problem. I haven’t read comments anywhere about issues. I have 3 and never had a single problem.
The budget version is made in Indonesia or China?
Indonesia
It’s the most 80s looking non 80s guitar
I love the guitars but not the neck, I play the higher frets on lower strings during my solos for the "poofy" texture those notes offer. This guitar assumes how you play.
I know a lot of people talk about it being designed for more classical thumb on back position shredding, and it has that flat area to do that, but it’s not like you’re stuck playing one way. I find the way it’s carved to be good for more regular thumb over playing too down the neck. It’s kind of like an in between ledge for your thumb giving you another option; not quite classical shredder, not fully thumb over. Kind of like an added V-neck shape some guitars have. My playing has adapted to really liking it. More thumb over/on the "ledge” for open position cowboy chords and more power chord rhythm playing, switching to thumb behind for jazzier chords and faster parts. The best is that at any time you want to do any string bends or vibrato you can easily slide your thumb to the "ledge” for a good stable grip.
Thumbnail looks like you’re with a waxwork hahah
One can only hope the "budget" version isn't priced so high that it breaks the budget.
He said under $1k. That’s a great price for Strandberg’s.
First
No sound bite
I hate strandberg, I just want them all 🫠
Change the endurneck bullshit
Guitars made in Indonesia for $2000 to $3000 is a scam, he’s not about making guitars, he’s about making money. I can buy a Japan made guitar or an Indonesian made guitar from any manufacturer for half price and it’s as good if not better. Modern machine techniques with less material = price gouge.
There is alot of R&D costs for all of Strandbergs work to be spread on a quite small number of quitarrs in comparison to a more mainstream model that is made in the tens of thousands from the start. Hopefully the new model will sell well and lead to more entry level versions.
Almost every major company nowadays has a line of their guitars made in Indonesia. I have a couple of PRS’s SE, an Ibanez, and now 3 Strandbergs all made in Indonesia and all play just as good if not better than some of my U.S. or Japanese guitars. They’ve been making guitars there for years. Unless you’re talking about totally hand made instruments, every company is using the same CAD blueprinting and CNC routing technology and manufacturing. The majority of Strandbergs are made in Indonesia so if you want a regular production model that’s just where they are made. The manufacturing technology and quality of parts is virtually the same, I’m not really hung up on country of origin anymore.
@@travislee9662 there’s no guitar made outside of Japan that’s worth what Standberg is asking.
@@richgrothaus5971it’s a proprietary design. It’s a unique guitar that they make. It’s not some generic strat or LP copy. The price is the price they determine. Whether a person likes the design and is willing to pay for it is up to them. You aren’t getting a regular production model Strandberg anywhere else. Your argument is like saying I’d try a Ferrari but they’re too expensive for an Italian made car. I would only pay that much for a Japanese car.
Strandbergs can take a player of any age and turn them back into virgins.
But Strandberg has a huge problem. Strandberg customers are the best, most perfect, most precise and fastest guitarists in the world. Strandberg must constantly maintain a high standard and quality.
Finally a price that matches the Indonesian factory salaries
I love Andertons, but NAMM , is nothing more than the same old stuff put into a different package, nothing really new at all. Not everyone plays Electric Guitars, and the Amps and Guitars get more expensive every year, Dude it’s wood and wires. Keyboards the same, but unless you a Rock Star, normal people can’t afford this stuff
Aside: That guy incessantly chewing drove me partially insane. Just don't.
Neck is very bad.
Bad how? Did you not like it when you tried it or did the idea of it frighten you? Was it fragile? Did it lessen sustain? What model did you try and what did you immediately compare it with?
Ugliest guitars that ever existed
Amazing…The fact Strandberg WOULDN'T sell to Andertons is baffling to me! 🤔 …As ridiculous as it is pathetic…Get it together, Strandberg!…What's your F'in problem?!
😞😮💨🙄😵💫
shut up
Brother, you clearly have no understanding of how business works...
Their production volume have probably been too low for them to need places like andertons until now.
Worst guitars ever
Ola, please move the pickup switch. Many of us have problems hitting the pickup selector when strumming hard.
Also, for humbuckers, I'd prefer to have a push/pull pot or toggle switch to configure single/dual coil configurations. Along with this, for HH configurations simply use a 3-way switch. This configuration gives the user more choices.
I got one a week ago 7 string and the neack is not all that the fishmen pickups suck it does hold tune vary well. I love everything about it but the neckakes no sense what so ever . And the pickups are weak as hell dont evan come close to a emg or Seymour black outs . I wish they'd put more options for pickup and a round neack . Over all realy cool guitar pickups got to go .
