Nobody is concerned of the suicides, death due to stress etc. of the poor employees. All need the corporates. Even in the public sector the situation is not different.
Work pressure, nepotism and favouritism are in corporate environments/private companies is very common phenomenon and not a new thing. Education institutes/colleges should give training for STRESS MANAGEMENT and MENTAL HEALTH apart from curriculum. Employees mental health as well as physical health are important for work life balance. 99% Employers are focusing on finance capital and they never focus on human capital because there is abundance of unemployed educated persons in India. Government should do safety measures for employee’s working hours, conditions and stringent in the enforcement of our existing labour laws.
Cut throat competition and Huge population growth are also contributing to all these which results in Low employee Bargaining Power. ''If you don't like work pressure just leave someone will take your Place'' exactly these are said by Employer when someone complain about Toxic work culture. Harsh Truth.
He and his wife both 🧠 gone 🥜🙃 & Became 💰🧟♂️ 🗿They just need to shut up, sit at home or silently run their companies to keep their respect at this age. 🤦♂️

I am sure the EY leadership would have threatened employees and colleagues of hers not to attend the funeral and if not complied with they would face strict action ! Indian workers being spineless would have complied to save their jobs! Strict action is needed for threatning the employees for attending the funeral !
@@danjames6620almost all companies follow similar policies. You just don't have any idea on the amount of talent available in the Indian labour pool.
This is serious! Please don’t treat human beings like donkeys! Please set strict guidelines for workplace! Even the number of employees an organisation of a particular size must have , a standard salary for the years of experience and qualifications across industries, pay package parity for both genders, improve health insurance coverage and leave patterns! There are glaring flaws in the whole system! U take one employee for cost saving and make them do 10 employees work and all the profits are taken away by the top leadership and their salaries increase exponentially and others the bottom who are the true contributors become their slaves and work for peanuts! This is exploitation
Consulting firms culture should change. I am an ex EY and I have seen how things went. Now I have changed from consulting to industry and it's great that I am getting wonderful work life balance. Indians works hard, make money and also provide money as charity to government as tax...what a country.
The most useless department in every Indian IT company is the HR department. They recruit people then they act like a cham cham ; there is no way an employee can raise their voice against this, there is no proper channel for communication.
Working in India is like working in the US for the ruthless amount of work and a fear of getting fired + like working for the UK in exploitative “ Yes Sir” British Raj culture. This is a double threat.
She was incredibly dedicated, but the weight of her workload may have contributed to her health issues. This is a clear reminder for us to show more compassion and care for every employees.
The issue of exploitation in the workplace is pervasive, affecting various sectors, not just corporate offices. Recently, an info oldie openly demanded that tech employees work 70-hour weeks, a blatant disregard for workers' rights despite access to ILO reports highlighting global standards. While corporate employees may receive decent salaries and benefits, this doesn't justify extended hours. The government takes a hefty 48% of their earnings through taxes like IT and GST, effectively squeezing both time and money from them. This creates a modern form of slavery. What we need is a standardized 8-hour workday for all employees, without exceptions.
Good to see your channel, of late focusing on social issues and women's issues. Corporate greed for power and control can be checked only with government policies. Unfortunately our policymakers are ever willing to succumb to corporates. Ambedkar says 8 hours work 8 hours rest 8 hours social obligations Maybe we can follow Australian work rules wherever applicable.
Our population is the biggest downfall. The talk of demographic dividend being an asset is not for the population. Only for the corporates and those in power. We all got fooled.

Exactly... Indian companies thrive of the mindset of fear and scarce. Likely they will not lose any contract. They just keep the employees on toes so that they continue to remain the boss. This is psychological assault. A deep study needs to be done on such common practices.
Yes very much. Overtime, late night, weekend, cancel holidays and personal functions, etc and topping it off with low pay, verbal abuse. All of these even in global companies when team is led by Indian
One of the associate director here was glorifying hard work to a client on call that "Indians are hungry to prove"! And implying her team was working hard while people were being stressed to mental illness
Insuranc NBFC sector situation worst. Very low salary very high work pressure from morning 9 am to 10 pm. Huge sales pressure. Month End salary 20 K - 40 K / pm in hand. Indians are motivated by the sense of "image". They want to be able to tell their relatives and society the cool company's name they work for. The more you run behind labels, the more real happiness eludes you...
European Unions protect its working class and employees rights are put first. Its just the exact opposite in India. We put in extended shifts everyday with no overtime. We get threatened by Senior Management stating to go and complaint to HR if you want to nothing will be done. And its true HR also turn a blind eye. Indian Labour law does not give importance to employees satisfaction and personal well-being. This poor girl lost her life because she was just an employee, a worker, another statistic to yet another ungrateful company.
Employees working hard, harder to make the private Corporates rich। richer!! And Nobody's concerned at what price - at a cost of human life!!! Its not just the long hours but also the humiliations, insults and abuse that employees undergo. Why is no one even talking about it..???
According to infosys Narayana Moorthy, indian IT employee has to work 14 works and increase company profits. as per Narayana Moorthy, work like robo by taking tablets for health, no family, no parents, no sleeping, no socity knowledge, don't watch sun/moon etc..
In every company 70% person work and 30% person Enjoy. And I would ask why Government and State Minister Eyes open only when someone Dies in any sectors. Till then no one supports each one have to fight their own battle.
In Indian govt hospitals also doctors are overworked; many times for continuous 24 hours. Can anyone work for continuously for 24 hours?. If Indian govt compells doctors to over work, why blame private companies?
Lack of familial and societal support for those who wanna quit and search for better opportunities. Indians thrive in the emotion of fear. Fear and lack based mindset runs the recruitment game. No matter how good you are, the companies act like you are replaceable. Because even with half your pay they get freshers or someone to do the basic job and train them. Companies don't invest in people. They act like they are giving freebies. Employees need to have collective mindset and self respect. That's how you change the power dynamics.
Who will speak up against his/her boss? While it is much easier to sometimes say that you should speak up against toxic work culture, those who are in the corporate world may agree that it is not easy. How many can say NO to their bosses? How many can say that I won't work on a Sunday when asked for an urgent deliverable? Secondly, even if someone dares to do that, whom will they complain to? Which HR has the power, or even intent, to take corrective actions against business leaders and seniors to address the issue of toxic work culture? Not only will this take systemic change in our work environments, but a HUGE CULTURAL CHANGE. expecting juniors to speak up just WON'T WORK.
It's high time, the youth should. 1. Stop comparing yourself with others. 2. Understand materialistic showoffs like big car and big houses will only help financiers and won't bring happiness to you. 3. Don't chase after money, instead do what you love. 4. Don't work as if you are inevitable for the company. If you leave, the next one will take your seat. 5. Love yourself and enjoy being alone sometimes. 6. Be healthy. I took that hard call, resigned the 10x6 sales job which was taking a toll on my physical and mental health, to follow my passion. Yeah i am earning only 1/4th of what i am used to. But surprisingly, when you earn less, we will adapt to better living. No show-off, No comparison, No rat race. Just inner peace, calm, easy and healthy life.

It's overall culture in MNC, Pvt sector - be it consultancy, IT, Banks,....esp; for CAs, Engineers, Medical professionals...even the construction-site workers India & China have the obsession to work like anything, as there are no laws for non Public-sector employees for well-being of employees Government are only to tap taxes of middle-class people, but have no laws to protect the Pvt sector employees. Also, when they are laid-off, they have no guarantee for Job-security. The pay-scale in India is quite low to Western-countries, so instead of making 1 employee work for 18 hours a day, hire 2 people to work 9 hours a day - why so much of obsession with Profitablity?
Mysore Wipro backup team Sumanth panda was killed in same way due to harrassment by santhosh s k. But killer santhosh who was responsible for harassment in the name of job security is still roaming around freely and death of sumanth was hidden from everyone
Its not for Private sector alone. PSU situation is worst. Atleast Pvt sector earns more. Iff8cers are not spared even on public holidays. They say emergency situation and everday is emergency.
The top management at EY needs to be held accountable. It is unfortunate that the overwork killed Anna, but the disgusting part of the whole ordeal is that EY is just trying to brush it under the rug. How appallable is it that NO ONE turned up at the funeral, and the management took its sweet time even to acknowledge, let alone condemn it. The immediate management had not even offered a word of sympathy or reached out to console the grieving family. It is bewildering to say the least that this is the company people consult to make their business decisions. A company that cannot even deal with the death of one of their own in a dignified manner. It is sad that some of the employees in the organization didn't even know the actual fact behind the death of Anna, as allegedly the matter was just conveyed over a standard company mail that hinted at "prior existing health complications" as the reason for death; when infact Anna died of cardiac arrest that followed after having episodes of chest constriction owing to the overwork at EY. BRING EY PUNE TO JUSTICE. The government has to make an example of this and set precendent to define the right measure of work. In this day an age where every developed country has strict laws that govern work rights it is high time India steps up. It is wasy yo adopt functional frameworks that have proven their merits in other countries. Overtime work = overtime pay. Record working overs with fixed maximum working hour cutoffs. Allow employees to have and join unions and associations that speak for them. BRING EY PUNE TO JUSTICE!
I remember there was a death in the organisation where I work, the death was caused due to a road accident on one of the colleague's riding trips, but our top bosses gave us time off to attend the colleague's last rights and also ensured we had greef counseling available for anybody that needed support
Definitely yes's, but government is sleeping, not worrying about working class people's and the mental pressure and harassment they are going through because of the toxic work culture that is developed.
This spineless government doesn’t do anything for the working hours of their middle class tax payers. The arrogant finance minister doesn’t give any benefits and all the bhakts say Modiji works 18 hours a day and doesn’t take Sunday also Holiday. On the other hand there is no tax on the salaries earned by our MLAs and MPs and our middle class is taxed despite working for so many hours and weekends. The ask is atleast come-up with reasonable work schedules
It is indeed sad that no one from EY attended the funeral of Anna. That is the height of indifference. Expressing regret by the chairman is not enough. He should personally call on the grieving family.
There should be government entity which keeps a check on this... As of now private company employees are voiceless... Don't know who will help and whom to complain...
Yes minimum working hour in IT sector is 15 to 18 and it continues 24/7 at least on weekend you have to work minimum made to 10 hours being as an employee you have to answer for 1-2 hrs during agile meeting daily.
Those who tolerate torture and injustice are more responsible than those who impart torture. No employees of such organisations have the courage to complain to the government authorities. Government authorities are keeping their eyes closed even when a blind person can see the blatant violation of labour laws. The Supreme court should take suo moto cognisance of the matter.
I faced similar in my job too....Communicated to my manager that calling for work on holidays/weekends is not correct. He said it is expected by every private sector employee to work 24/7/365......
My manager at one of my previous companies would say that employees have to work 12-13 hours everyday, that working for 8 hours a day is not acceptable. The views and attitudes of the senior leadership and middle managers is what needs to change. Productivity shouldn’t be measured in terms of how many hours you work.
Please leave the company if it's bothering your mental health. Just switch off your phone and don't go back to work. If you feel you are stuck because of loan, bonds, bonus then listen. Loan you can pay even after changing the job or jumping to another company. Joining bones is not a bond. You don't have to return the joining bonus when u leave the company. And even lawyers have agreed to it. There is no such rule. That is just to scare you that u have to return the money but no company will put a case on you if you don't return that money. This is what a lawyer said. There is no law made on it. It's just on papers and even the bond which you sign to serve the company is useless. Even after u sign the bond, you can still leave the company without experience certificate ( use payslip as your experience certificate). No company will go to court to sue you for it, even if they do, that bond is not admissible in the court and you will win. Company will back off. Because according to the court, signature on any plain paper is useless. Only an affidavit or legal stamp paper is valid. So, be free. No more suicides. If you don't like to work in a company, simply leave and take a break. Don't go into depression with all this bonds and bonuses. Nothing matters. It's just to scare you.
Someone please let me know the companies who has the better work culture off papers, EY has one of the best policies available in the country.. I have worked in 3 companies.. All the three were under resourced.. I believe this is the corporate world... This is how it works.. All we can keep in mind nothing is more important than ourselfs and our families... In my observation on each levels there is pressure from higher level.. These are not non profit organisations...
Could we consider reducing work hours and salaries while hiring more people? It's important for individuals to learn how to manage their salaries, reduce unnecessary expenses, and avoid showing off.
This is true, especially in private companies. As per the rules, their private companies are required to comply with office hours which are not followed. According to the rules, there are concessions for employees to be taken in a year whose full quota is almost impossible to use.(holidays for family or personal important work) In meetings of private companies it is said that you have to get used to working under pressure. In private companies, employees often face high pressure due to heavy workloads, tight deadlines, performance expectations, and competition. This pressure is driven by the need for productivity, cost efficiency, and meeting business targets. Long hours, multitasking, and managing multiple projects simultaneously do lead to stress and burnout, affecting both mental and physical health. The demand for quick adaptability and constant availability, especially in sectors like tech, finance, and consulting, further intensifies the workload.
It is simple. Make it illegal to work on weekends. Make it illegal for bosses to call you after work hours.
They are hand in glove. One helps to makes money and the other helps to stay in power. Cyclic.
doesn't make any difference. law doesn't work in india anyways.

Corporates in India are taking advantage of the massive unemployment situation in the country. Exploiting the masses.

Modi government is going to do that soon...
Ambedkar says
8 hours work
8 hours rest
8 hours social obligations
Maybe we can follow Australian work rules wherever applicable.
Our population is the biggest downfall. The talk of demographic dividend being an asset is not for the population. Only for the corporates and those in power. We all got fooled.

Yes we are overworked 😢! We work till 11 PM or beyond yet the salary is so low that it can barely afford the monthly expenses.

5. Love yourself and enjoy being alone sometimes.
6. Be healthy.

If you can, avoid an Indian manager at any cost - especially if they belong to these consulting companies like Tata, Accenture, EY, Mckinsey etc.

Our indian government don't have any concern with employees
Yes, they over-work. I witnessed.
Where is Sudha Murthis husband now?
It is indeed sad that no one from EY attended the funeral of Anna. That is the height of indifference. Expressing regret by the chairman is not enough. He should personally call on the grieving family.
I am sure 80% of corporate employees are physically unfit because of mental and physical over workload.

We are working 12 Hr, but salary paying 8hr
My manager at one of my previous companies would say that employees have to work 12-13 hours everyday, that working for 8 hours a day is not acceptable. The views and attitudes of the senior leadership and middle managers is what needs to change. Productivity shouldn’t be measured in terms of how many hours you work.
Dark reality is India is poor and too much competition. There is no choice, someone else will take your job if you work in a relax attitude.

Please uncover the truth about pathetic teaching job and stressful work culture in private sector schools and colleges in india.
