The amazing thing to me is how good he was when only a kid. Not just playing but his showmanship at such a young age.
@Normanacree Id have to say his musical ability stayed constant n maybe got better , but showmanship has taken a dive from when he was a did! Lol! According to that film piece !
He could cut one heck of a rug and not miss a note while doing it 😂. Which is incredibly hard to do.
Fabulous....possibly the most underrated and underappreciated act in Rock 'n Roll history. RIP Lorrie...

He is one of the best guitar players I have heard. But unfortunately he is barely known to the world.
He was more famous for his dancing while playing guitar with his sister. Wholesome USA TV basically used them as a novelty act. He was a good guitarist badly advised.

You really see the influence he had on Dick Dale and the origins of surf music, let alone punk rock a couple of generations later.... Amazing. One of the most underrated players of all time. He should be in the R&R HOF
Just seen these kids back in 1958 video and was wondering what ever happened to them, then came across this video.. Glad to see that they are still in music.. I can't believe how great he was at a young age..

along with Glen Campbell and Roy Clark, Larry Collins was one of the guys that inspired me to play when i was young.

This guy is a guitar and rock and roll legend, absolutely incredible and I just randomly recently found out about these siblings. It's crazy he was among the first rock and roll guitarists just as a child.

Heard this family for the first time today. A video from the 50s and now this one. Very talented and high energy.
The Collins Kids are beyond phenomenal, they are also, in my opinion, proof of the "Mandela Effect." I was born in 1953, I am part of the RnB, Rock n Roll, Woodstock gen, and I never heard of the Collins Kids until 2022, (WTF?). AND I am not the only OG that has just discovered that Larry was playing Johnny be Good at least 2 years before Chuck Berry,l. RIP Kids.

These 2 are the greatest! Everyone that sees this post it up everywhere to everyone world wide, help them get total fame everywhere!! Do it! They should have sold zillions of records it is never too late for them to get the recognition they deserve.

Lousy promotion from their record label in the 50s for one thing. Mitch Miller at Columbia signed them, but believed if he ignored rock and roll long enough it would go away (it didn't). As a result, their records were not pushed to radio all that hard and without the airplay, records don't get sold.
Thus their audience was somewhat limited to the regionally syndicated show "Ranch Party" on which they were regulars. That largely West Coast regional audience was all the promotion they really got.

For me, The Collins Kids were so good that they need to always be remembered as the BEST and BRIGHTEST stars of their time. I know Lorries went from here now but I'd sure like to meet Larry or maybe catch a Live Ranch Party show somewhere in the mysterious Universe one day.

I am slightly younger than him and his sis. I have been playing guitar since 1957. I have fronted bands and do solo gigs to this day and.... amazingly only heard of them recently. Great talents.
It is good to meet you, Mr. McKay. Your 1992 Hong Kong performance of Pretty Woman was great! Loud and extended as Mr. Orbison played it live. Who were your band members? That bass man really had it down that day.
@@cmintsurfer As is often the case, time erases memory cells. Drummer Anthony, Bass John, lead Richard. I am still playing gigs every week but mostly solo now.

If only The Collins Kids had better management and better promotion they might have become one of the biggest rockabilly / rock and roll acts during the 1950s...Larry and Lorie Collins were performing on television long before Elvis and Carl Perkins ever did and Chuck Berry got his idea for the duck from watching Larry Collins on stage.......

🎉I had the HONOR at Viva Las Vegas in the mid 2000's to see them. After the show, I stood in a relatively small line to say hello to them. Lorrie said, "I saw you down below watching me sing that song so intently." To my surprise she hugged me and kissed my right cheek! My then girlfriend hit the roof of jealously! Then I went to talk to Larry. He was so impressed how I remembered him and his show, "Town Hall Party" and how he jumped all around while he played. Larry and I ended up talking guitars, and music while smoking cigarrettes together for at least 20 minutes. Very memorable! God bless them. RIP Lorrie...thank you for the music and that kiss.❤

I have just discovered the COLLINS KIDS and I have been listening to ROCK N ROLL & 50s & 60s for the last 40 odd years they are one of my favourite a long with THE BEATLES THE HOLLIES BUDDY HOLLY EDDIE COCERN GEN VINCENT BILLY FURRY BILL HALEY ELVIS SHADOWS CHUCK BERRY LITTLE RICHARD CRAZY CAVERN FLYING SOURCES LED ZEPPELIN HERMAN HERMITS GERRY PACEMAKERS SEARCHERS THE ANIMALS & many others from SEAN
Bless you for spreading around all that talent for a lifetime. Makes me glad i got the guitar bug.

I didn't discover him until earlier this year! Amazing life both of these Collins kids had, but that guitar player is one of the best. I can't believe hes not in the ranks of other great ones like Eric Clapton Stevie Ray Vaughan Jimmy Page.
I'm going to mention Larry Collins next time people talk about legendary guitarists.

Underated much? Both Larry and Laurie. When she sings "Another Man Done Gone", to me it keps up with Wanda Jackson and Patsy Cline. So damn sensual and guttural in a soulful sense.
I like how he inserts the Malagueña into his solo.
Not to mention the kickass version of Classical Gas!
I really like in the late 60s the Jose feliciano of this song Larry add so much to it I never dreamed the true potential of this song

1956 Larry Collins was a wiz on his guitar, he couldn't stand still at all back then.
Yeah he was always pogoing and jumping around like a loose moose it was awesome to watch. But we all get older.
He was so fun to watch bouncing all over the place and his guitar skills were professional he was only 12.
