I agree that Xol's death was anti-climatic but I don't think it was weird how easily we killed him. I am not well versed in the fighting potential of the worm gods but I always assumed that their strength lied in making traps and empowering others, which means that attacking them head-on and by surprise would be facing them at their weakest. Plus remember that Xol is the weakest of the five worm gods, so weak that he had to ally with an outcast (Nokris) to survive, and that Oryx killed Aka, the strongest one, before having the power to Take (which he gained by killing Aka). This means that an Oryx weaker than the one we faced in the Taken King campaign killed a being much more powerful than Xol. "Killing" Oryx in the campaign (by that, I mean forcing him to Take himself) means that we were stronger than the strongest worm god as Aka didn't manage to send Oryx back in the ascendant realm (ie die in the materium and regenerate in his throne world). Factor in that Oryx's power grew considerably after slaying Aka, it seems clear that we are stronger than the most powerful worm god and, by extension, stronger than the weakest worm gods.

"Were you tricked by the worm that chased the Warmind? Did you truly believe you'd fought one of the beings the Hive call gods? Ha!" - Toland, the Shattered
Is that a real quote? Would be scary if Toland is right and that wasn't Xol. But just a Drone of sorts. He is the Will of the Thousands. But Was quoted to be the "weakest" of the Wormgods. So what the Hell might still swim in Titans methan Ocean?
@@TheRealJohnux It is a real quote. Toland sometimes says it during an ascendant challenge. I have no idea why that wouldn’t be Xol or why we wouldn’t have fought him. I’ve theorized before that it was so he could turn into the Whisper so he could feed off of our kills but he wouldn’t have needed to “die” to do that. Another theory I have is that Xol being the “Will of the Thousands” isn’t actually the “will” of the Hive but maybe some large worms. The evidence for the existence of these worms is flimsy but given the difference in size between worms and the fact that we see some worms eating on the Dreadnaught and the Moon show that they have a metabolism and don’t strictly feed on tribute. Some large worm-like skeletons on the Moon suggests the existence of these worms. I think one of them was a scannable but I don’t remember what it said. These worms were most likely used as diggers and were probably still adolescents which means that they probably needed direction or a will other than their own to control them. Being the weakest would probably lend you the more boring job. Ur, the Ever-Hunger is most likely what’s swimming within Titan’s depths even with the anomalies. The Worms are parasites and feed off of the Darkness and what the Darkness changes. The Pyramids “taking” Titan probably wouldn’t affect Ur and might actually feed him. Ur made a pact with Savathûn but we don’t yet know what it was for. The fact that Savathûn’s brood was the sect of the Hive on Titan implies that the worm underneath Titan is Ur. I theorize that the pact with Ur was that if Ur had a constant supply of tribute such as a looping city murder battery, then Savathûn could have her worm removed. Story details during the Arrivals, Hunt, and Splicer seasons only strengthen these connections. Take from this what you will.
the most scary thing about mida is the fact that the black garden in d1 was only accesible trought mars, conecting the other mars from marathon that also has a garden in lore too

For those that don't know, Whisper of the Worm is also a Halo 2 reference. In the opening cutscenes of Halo 2, Cortana says "Another whisper sir, near Io, we have probes en route." Referring to what we find out moments later is Regret's fleet. (Equip Spinfoil Cap) Halo 2 released in 2004, and the Whisper update was in 2018, 14 years apart and 14/2=7 (It's actually 13 years, 8 months, 8 days). But wait! That's exactly 4998 days between the Halo 2 launch and the Whisper mission update. 4998=714(7). Bungie totally planned it.
The touch of malice indicates that the hive actually feels pain when they inflict it and i thought that would be an amazing concept for an enemy. One that would have a shitton of health but would damage itself as it hits you, making it a tough encounter for the players themselves to balance getting hit, dealing damage and healing
“Hey xol, which weapon should i use against this giant enemy?” “This enemy, it cannot move. Use me, the whisper of the worn. My bullet will erase him...” “Good idea...”
The nanites are somewhat sentient, following their single 3 word objective, but maybe it doesn't apply directly to the gun? Maybe its more of a vessel for the nanites? idk, thats a good question, I completely forgot about Outbreak ( in the context of this video at least).
I mean it's "technically" aware of it's purpose like the Merciless (the smaller description is ~directive = KILL while enemies = PRESENT: execute(directive)~, which is just code telling the gun to kill while there are enemies) But the Merciless is able to change parameters to effectively kill more, while the Outbreak only repeat the same actions. It's aware of it's purpose as a gun, but can't be called AI
The DARCI is more than just sentient, it understands the concept of fury and wrath too. I saw a DARCI losing its hell by firing full auto some time ago
I want an AI based remake of Universal Remote. Tagline: A scrapyard is home to lots of junk. Best to make use of it and fashion something menacing. Lore: Guardians have been known to travel through the ruins of the cosmodrome and the old dam where many have first ventured. Scrapping vehicle parts at the highway, and trying to make use of anything they can get ahold of. Titans, however, are unique. They carry a...special kind of intelligence. Despite how often they are seen by peers as brutes first, they are talented in the art of improvised weaponry. As such, they frequently use the scraps of enemy weapons, and useful junk to forge makeshift firearms and blunt instruments of destruction. This shotgun, with an unconventional name, a grimy scope ripped from an old era marksman rifle, and shells packed to the brim with a seemingly endless amount of pellets, is more than enough to tear apart anything that can and will bleed. Remember guardians. Always carry your Universal Remote. You never know when you need to point, click and delete a cable's head. - Manuscript located inside the stock of the shotgun. Exotic Perk: Scrap Shot - Hip fire shoots explosive buckshot, aiming launches long range slugs Exotic trait: Scavenger - Grabbing any ammo pickup type adds a shell to your reserves and reloads your magazine Catalyst Perk: Scrap Blast - Performing a finisher with this weapon equipped gives a unique finisher with a 3 meter instant kill radius on any non elite unit.
When I noticed that Mida's compass doesn't point north, I assumed it was an oversight in the game design. The idea that it could be intentional, is intriguing.
Now whenever I use whisper, I’ll only be able to hear Xol crying in a corner because bungie neutered it years ago (or however long ago they nerfed it).

This actually makes a lot of sense man! Thank you for clarifying this to us bro
Very well put together and explained!

@@Phantom-of-Tallon-IV thanks for explaining, I didn't know all the Details, because I wasn't playing Destiny during the Season of Arrivals and Hunt.

For those that don't know, Whisper of the Worm is also a Halo 2 reference. In the opening cutscenes of Halo 2, Cortana says "Another whisper sir, near Io, we have probes en route." Referring to what we find out moments later is Regret's fleet.
(Equip Spinfoil Cap)
Halo 2 released in 2004, and the Whisper update was in 2018, 14 years apart and 14/2=7 (It's actually 13 years, 8 months, 8 days). But wait! That's exactly 4998 days between the Halo 2 launch and the Whisper mission update. 4998=714(7). Bungie totally planned it.
I remember seeing a post about sentient weapons in the subreddit some time back, glad to see you cover it
The touch of malice indicates that the hive actually feels pain when they inflict it and i thought that would be an amazing concept for an enemy. One that would have a shitton of health but would damage itself as it hits you, making it a tough encounter for the players themselves to balance getting hit, dealing damage and healing
*100 recovery*
Did someone ask for cheese

I always thought Outbreak perfected had an AI
Apparently not.
SIVA is somewhat sentient. New lore also implies that SIVA has evolved and can think for itself without direction from Rasputin
The nanites are somewhat sentient, following their single 3 word objective, but maybe it doesn't apply directly to the gun? Maybe its more of a vessel for the nanites? idk, thats a good question, I completely forgot about Outbreak ( in the context of this video at least).
I mean it's "technically" aware of it's purpose like the Merciless (the smaller description is ~directive = KILL while enemies = PRESENT: execute(directive)~, which is just code telling the gun to kill while there are enemies)
But the Merciless is able to change parameters to effectively kill more, while the Outbreak only repeat the same actions. It's aware of it's purpose as a gun, but can't be called AI
I just love the fact DARCI breaks the fourth wall.
It doesn't though. Crucible matches are exactly that in the universe, and strikes are an active occurance.
