Its seems you are driving 4X faster than normal. I did not think you could make the turns at that speed. LOL. Nice walk through the area and beautiful reflections on the water. Glad you survived the night. It is scary riding out a storm in a trailer. I did that a few times with our trailer and it was scary. I thought we were going to tip over more than once. Had the awning rip off once too. I can't believe those people still had theirs up. Beautiful morning you had once the storm passed. Exciting trip. Take care and have a great day.
Ha. Thanks Steve. I sort of stumbled on the x4 footage and I loved the engine sound so much I kept it in 😃😃 Yes the storm was wild. And at least one awning made it through too. We didn’t sleep much - the noise was incredible. We should have moved the van into the centre of the site but there were a lot of trees everywhere so we just stayed put. Thankfully no damage Thanks for watching mate and hope you guys are doing well. 👍👍👍
O my, quite an adventure with all that wind! Whew, glad to see you were safe driving and sleeping in your motorhome. Those strong winds can really rock your vehicle- I once went camping in a small trailer when there were strong winds… it was attached to the truck but I wasn’t sure if we’d get pushed around. Fortunately there were no trees around, whew. Fun to see you getting everything figured out with your home away from home. Safe travels - Jen Cheers! 🌟🌟🌟😄
Thanks Jen. Yes we were surprised as to how much the van rocked in the wind. We probably should have moved it away from the trees - rookie mistake really. But fortunately no damage done. We’ve learned so much about the van - it’s been brilliant and we have so much planned for this year. Have a great Sunday Jen. 👍👍
It is so scary get stuck in unexpected weather like that in your home away from home. It happened to us so many times, but man, that was a scary one for you guys. Ya’ll Handled it well. Great trip otherwise, but you guys have had some strange weather this year. Glad the silver birch held on by the roots; even though you had a close call with those limbs.
@@LivingtheSilverLife thanks DeAnna. Yes thank goodness the Birch trees had decent roots. We should have moved it really! The weather has been pretty crazy. We’ve now had three floods in quick succession here. Last week we travelled through Oxfordshire then Somerset into Devon and these were floods everywhere. Hi Dave and Sue - Clumber park, love it 👍 I remember going there to watch, the searchers, the swinging blue jeans and Mersey beat. 😁 Great place for the van and very sensible to put those straps on it 😳👌
Gosh Phil. That must have been a fun trip mate. Love live music always. Yep it’s a beautiful place, just a shame we had to cut the visit short as they were closing it because of the incoming storm. Hello guys. Yes it was lucky really - we should have probably moved away from the trees but fortunately noting major was blown down near us. We are very much enjoying our travels in “Florrie” It’s been a bit of a life changer really. Thanks for your kind comments Simon and Beth. 🙏🙏🙏 And have a great weekend. Dave and Sue
Cheers mate. It’s been a good learning curve Kev. Rain, gales, snow, gales, rain, floods pestilence etc etc 😃 Today crazy thunderstorms and rain - but as we got North, clear and now cold. Flippin lovin it mate. 👍👍
Hello Dave and Sue, shame you had such windy stormy weather while you were at Clumber Park. Glad you have had a lovely tour. Stay safe on your travels x Julie and Tony x
Thanks guys. It was a shame. They closed the NT site at 2pm because of the incoming storm so we didn’t get a decent look around. But it’s a really beautiful place. We decided to stay and ride out the winds but it was a bit crazy! Anyway, hope you guys enjoyed the show. and have a great week ahead 👍👍
Hard driving, Dave and Sue. Don't think I would have attempted with those kind of winds in an RV! Looks like a nice place where you arrived though. Always like all the tree's and natural setting. Fun stroll and seeing the National Trust property. Enjoyable until the booms! Loved your trip. Thanks for bringing us along.
Cheers Dave and Kathy. Yes we maybe should have just kept going towards home. It was a bit hairy at times but another learning experience! Clumber Park was very beautiful - it was a shame we couldn’t stay longer as they closed it early due to the impending storm. Have a great Sunday you two. 👍👍
What else is there to do in an 80mph wind storm, but hunker down with a pink gin and lemonade 😂🍸👌. This looked like quite the experienced guys. That campsite looks like it is in a brilliant location 😍 I would love to visit Clumber Park. Well done for surviving some extreme winter weather conditions in Florrie! Now that you have done that, you can do anything! 🥶❄️
Ha I’m not sure about that 😃. It was a bit scary on the drive - and we we were surprised at how much the van rocked in the gales during the night - but we made it through another eventful trip. Clumber Park is very beautiful but I imagine it gets very crowded in the Summer. Have a great Sunday 👍👍👍
Loved seeing Florrie giving an F1 performance! 😂 The walk before the storm was beautiful. Glad you two were able to hunker down to brace against the storm. The sounds of the wind was impressive, and it was surprising some people had their awnings out still. Glad you and the trees made it through ok!
Thanks Donna - yes the sound was the thing. It just sort of built up and sounded like a train coming. Nature can be so impressive. Really put on a show that night. We really should have moved the van into a more central place but in the end all was well It was a shame we couldn’t visit the National Trust gardens and house for longer but they closed it early due to the upcoming storm. Hope you guys are doing well and having a good week 👍👍👍
Wow 80mph winds! You did well to brave the storm and it looks like you had a good trip despite of it! It’s good but surprising how strong those motorhome are! Thanks for sharing
It was a bit scary at times we must admit. A learning experience for sure. But we did at least get to walk briefly through Clumber Park before they closed it. So many storms and flooding at the moment aren’t there!! Have a great Sunday.
Hi Dave and Sue! we're new here. You have a lovely motorhome. the NT site at Clumber Park is a lovely place to hunker down. yeah, why not stroll around the area and appreciate the beauty of nature it's really calm before the storm. wow, it's really windy and with the motorhome rocking, I don't think I can sleep that night. and you survived including Florie. thank you for sharing. we really enjoyed watching. Very funny with the sped up part. It even sounded like a race car new movie named Mad Dave lol. Enjoyed the bit about sense of direction too. Thanks for entertaining me today have a great weekend Dave and Sue
He he he - maybe a new section Duane. I loved that when I sped it up that the sound was so cool. Never had an automatic gearbox before and this one is great. We’re always getting lost - every trip 😃 Have a great Sunday mate
We have towed in the wind when we had a caravan. Very Scary. We have also been in the wind in the Motorhome not great either! But no matter the weather you have put out another lovely vlog. I'm just catching up with being on holiday. Thanks for sharing ❤
Thanks Anna. Yea it was scary over the A66. The top skylight “popped” - we’ve been in and they’ve fixed that today 👍👍. Lovin this life - we’ve already been to so many great places And we’ve already been out in all weathers so it’s been a good learning experience. Now looking forward to the warmer weather 😃😃
Blimey quite a journey, good job you had those straps....i was holding onto my seat as you turned off the A1 towards Clumber...a real white knuckle ride...
Been over that A66 so many times over the years in all conditions, so good, some terrifying. You had a canny drive from Keswick mind in those conditions and we use them sticky hooks as well, which are good initially but can all of a sudden drop. I think I would have made a run for home before the storm hit but a good leaning experience, especially seeing how the van coped in extreme weather, cheers Alan
I think we got a bit lucky really Alan - we probably should have left but even then we should have moved the van away from those trees. But all ended up ok. We just got back from the dealers who fixed our front skylight. Hope you and Mrs M are having g a good week mate.
Wow, dave! A pretty hairy drive indeed!! Glad you managed to sort the clips out though. Lovely visit to Clumber park, we really want to visit there and the NT property. This was a great video, interesting to watch and we're just glad you both survived the storm! Thanks for the video!
Thanks so much Alessa. It was a bit of a hairy drive and a rough night. But it was sort of fun too We were probably a bit ambitious and maybe should have kept going towards home but Clumber Park seemed very beautiful. It was a shame we couldn’t get to see everything as they closed the park early. Hope you guys are doing well. And have a great Sunday.
Happy Sunday Dave and Sue and hopefully a Sunday with calm weather and no winds! That end of your trip was really something with the storm coming and basically disrupting your last days of camping. With some distance to that day it is probably a more fun memory, but just before and when the storm hits it is no joy at all! I have to say that I was surprised that people let the awnings be open just before the wind came in force - maybe they had forgotten how wind is propelling Cutty Sark;) So on that note I understand why you braced the window with those strops while driving around - good thinking and very sensible! As for the F1 moment I had to smile as your engine actually sounded like a F1 car when doing it 4X; so that was a neat sound effect! Have a great day and I am looking forward to your next adventure (and to see how long the fire blanket will be on the wall;) All the best, Ant
It’s still there Ant. 🎉🎉. 😃😃 Yes it was a really crazy storm that night. We had wanted to spend the day at the National Trust property but they closed it at lunchtime for safety reasons. We were worried about the trees near us but only a couple of branches came down, thankfully. We couldn’t believe that someone left an awning up. They do have storm straps so must have been ok. And I must admit that I loved the sped up sound in that clip. (Maybe I should have it as a feature in the future) Florrie’s F1 😃 Hope you’re having a great weekend Arild my friend.
@NBNatureTrailvan Trees can be nasty as you never know which tree that will be topped over by the wind, so I figure you were nervous about it for a good reason during the night. It ended well and you have more experience for your next adventure, but let it be a long time before you have wind like that 😉
Hi Dave and Sue really enjoyed watching the walk in clumber park, looks a nice place, that storm bought back some memories lol, doesn’t take much to keep me awake but storms in a motorhome are a nightmare for sleeping eh, anyway take care and hopefully we can meet up sometime. Safe travels 🙏👍👊🚌🇬🇧
Couldn’t believe it Steve. It was just a low roar and then suddenly it would sound like a train was coming! 😃. We would have liked to have wandered around Clumber Park a bit more but they closed it early because of the incoming storm It’s all a learning experience 😃😃 Hope you, Lorna and Chance are doing well and it would be brilliant to meet up sometime. Up in Chester today then off to Southport to meet some very old mates - well not that old, we’ve known them a long time 😃😃 Safe travels you two.
Quite the windy adventure and something else survived. That can't be fun tho! The park looked lovely tho and good that you can still find quiet spots even when it appears to be super busy. I'm a National Trust member but never been. It looks worth a visit. 👍
It is a very pretty area Paul. We had to leave the NT site early because they closed everything due to the incoming storm. We’re members but we just don’t use it enough!! Have a good week mate.
Looks like you had it pretty bad over there. 80mph winds is ridiculous, no wonder Florrie was rocking all over, lol. Glad to hear you didn't fair too bad in the end though and it didn't dampen your trip any.
Flippin scary driving across the A66 Jay. And it was a wild night in the forest. We should really have moved the van but most places there seemed to be under trees!! Another learning experience 😃
This just popped up. So pleased you were safe. Those winds can be really scary on high roads like that. Windows shouldn’t do that! Pleased you found a temporary fix. Take care 👍😊
Hi Graham and Ellie - yep it was the scariest moment we've had yet. The winds were crazy! Dealer has now fixed the issue and we drove across from Suffolk yesterday in high side winds and it was ok. We also had semi air suspension fitted which has made a huge difference!!
Guys that did look soo scary, you have had a test in Florrie with the extreme weather, good thing you're having fun 😃. The campsite looked a great location and I loved the National Trust property, I've not heard of that one before. Glad you've learned a lot with being out longer, so interesting 👍~ Anna
Oh gosh Anna it was a crazy night. But we now don’t think that the weather can throw anything else at us!! Fingers crossed. We would have liked to have had more time at the NT property but they closed it at 2pm for safety. We’re really loving being out in the van. Up to Liverpool and Southport this weekend. 👍👍
Bet it was rockin' and rollin' in that storm for sure. I remember the first overnight wind storm in mine...I remember thinking that I sure hoped all six wheels stayed on the ground! lol I learned to be careful hanging things as I had one incident where an emergency hard breaking sent everything flying to the front like missiles. Continue to enjoy the marvelous experiences!
Ha thanks Bruce. Good point. Sue says if I slow down we won’t have anything flying. It’s still up at the moment. The glue hooks seem good 😃😃 It was a bit crazy out there. We wanted to spend the day at the National Trust property but they closed it early. Another sharp learning curve mate.
Oh no your window!! Surely that shouldn’t happen? Hope you manage to get that sorted out. We used to have our fire blanket hanging on a hook 🪝 but it used to bang while driving, so it’s velcroed top & bottom now. Good video, Em 💜
Window’s in getting fixed today 🤞🤞 Em. So no more whistling hopefully. Ha, the hooks. The fire blanket is still up. But we looked at some footage today where we can see it almost swinging off!! 🤣🤣 So I think Velcro is a brilliant solution. Hope you guys are having a good week 👍👍👍
very brave doing that drive in those winds, well done tho. re the fire blanket to use you use the black straps by pulling hard on them in a downward position and that will get the blanket out, you don't unhook it. by pulling it you might pull it off the wall. I'm new to your channel 👋PS why are your running lights and head lights on in the night shots?
Hi Suzie. You’re right, we need to rethink that. It’s a good piece of advice. Cheers. The side lights and running lights lift up like a Christmas tree when unlocking the van or opening the Hab door. A lot of folks don’t like it (us included), but that’s the way that the manufacturer has designed it. It was a pretty scary drive - so t want to do that again in a hurry!! Thanks for your kind comments and advice Hope you’re doing well and have a great weekend 👍👍👍

@@NBNatureTrailvan hi buddy have a great time, we went to Chester last week, very vibrant , safe trip guys 👍👊🚌🏴🥰
Isha largely passed us by, but they did record 160mph out west of us for one storm.
It was pretty wild overnight (according to Sue). I slept through it 😃.
Didn’t enjoy that place much. Far too busy for us mate.
The glue hooks seem good 😃😃
It was a bit crazy out there.
So I think Velcro is a brilliant solution.
Thanks for your kind comments and advice
Hope you’re doing well and have a great weekend 👍👍👍
@@NBNatureTrailvan we are full timers and we where in the outer Hebredies when that storm came through. We took cover in a harbour on the opposite side of the island to where it was coming from and it was still scary. Happy travels.
@@suziemc5291 flippin eck. Must have been scary. We’re just so looking forward to getting back to the Outer Hebrides in the van 👍👍👍
@@NBNatureTrailvan it was our first time and we fell in love with the islands. We are returning asap but not in season. We virtually had the place to ourselves, we did November/ December and although wet and windy it was heaven.
@@suziemc5291 so cool. We’re doing Mull and Ardnamurchan in the Spring 👍
