    That’s my water tap!!! Sorry it felt weird to be given something but I put it on park for night so that can lifers can get a fresh supply as we know how hard it can be. We have had so much kindness (mainly abroad) that we wanted to pass it on.

    Hi Liam and Janine, we found your channel a few weeks ago and have been binge watching your videos and really enjoying them, especially the Scotland trip as we moved here from the Netherlands 🇳🇱 approx 4 years ago and we still have so much to see here in Scotland. My husband and myself have been vegan for 10 years now and enjoy seeing all of the vegan places you get to eat at. Love love love your channel and if we were younger would have loved to do exactly what you guys are doing!
    We are in our 60's now so we enjoy channels like yours so much.

    Can’t believe we got your location wrong 🤣
    For the condensation issue, first get some wind deflectors so you can leave your windows open an inch, without being seen as open or letting in rain. Helps massively with air circulation. Then give your windows a wipe with some shaving gel (not foam). Once the smears have been wiped it smell great and help keep the windows clear. We’ll be showing this in our next video so hopefully it works out well again for us :)

    You'll never get rid of condensation completely unless you breathe out of a snorkel that goes outside the van =D. All you can do is minimise it by making more sources of ventilation and make it easier to remove with a condensation hover. It's just a van life thing you gotta live with.

    🌴Stephanie🌹Rose here from Florida👣 Thanks for letting me tag along! First time viewer and subscriber 💕 It's all about the journey and who you share it with ❗ Thanks for sharing it with 🇺🇸 I was reading down through the comments and didn't see this information and it maybe further down so excuse me if I repeat. There's a window screening that you open your door and then it's like a socket goes over the door you close the door and you're able to open the window and still have a screen on it so you leave like a crack or wide-open depending on how cold it is outside. The other thing I've seen people doing is bubble wrap like a window cover but it's bubble wrap and they say the bigger the bubbles the better so they'll still be moisture but not as much and you just wipe the windows off with a cloth when you take the bubble wrap off. They just stacked them, rolled & stashed it in a space till next time. You can look that up! The people I saw that did it said don't worry about it being wet when you put it away because that helps it stick to the window. Will help it say in place when you put it back up, good luck with that! I will be following along thank you 🎄

    I had condensation in my car like this, it was because I had a tiny hole in my floor and a leaking seal leading into my engine compartment. Check your floor for standing water and your carpets/floor matts. It took me a while to notice because the carpets where soaking up the water and I didn’t notice they were damp underneath, then they would evaporate at night and condense on the windows

    As well as leaving windows open a tad: get a Karcher or similar to wipe the windows with each morning (better than having soggy wet rags around adding moisture to the van again!). You can get windscreen heaters that direct straight at the screen that claim to dry the screen but as obviously you’re living/breathing in your van this creating moisture all the time we’ve found the Karcher the most useful item to have in the van for this issue! Also (you may have found a solution by now but 1. for wet walking boots-get the inner soles out if you can snd dry them separately and keep stuffing your boots /shoes with newspaper screwed up tight. As it gets wet replace it with more dry stuff and whatever you do don’t wear them if at all possible until completely dry! 2. For your condensation on your mattress-definitely related to heat hitting cold. Air circulation crucial, good insulation in/on your back doors and yes ideally direct heat from your blown air heating up there to stabilise the temperature. Hope this is of help. Best of luck to you both and Happy New Year! Anna x

    Hi, Happy Days.
    There is a couple of UA-cam channels I watch that may help with your condensation problems.
    One is, 'Mel's van life', he uses a Karcher window vacuum, they are very good - I ended up with one.
    The other channel is called 'Greg Virgoe', he built his own campervan (which is a great van build to watch).
    He added two Max fans for through ventilation. I know he added two fans first but they wasn't too good, so he removed them and added two better ones, which can run even when they are closed! If that makes sense.

    Hi guys, I use sheets of regular bubble wrap cut to size of the glass to reduce condensation. The flat side of the bubble wrap will naturally stick to the glass if its slightly moist. My side windows also have heat reflective film which helps too as a barrier to reduce the temperature difference so causes less condensation.

    Hi Liam and Janine,
    I noticed you had a bit of condensation issue on your windscreen. If you cut a bubble-wrap (use medium size bubbles) cover the size of your wind screen, and put the bubble wrap up of a night (heres the funny thing, wait til your window gets that foggy look to it as that helps the bubble wrap stick), it will help keep your van warmer, and greatly reduce the amount of condensation you get in your van.

    That big oak tree is known as the Major oak in Sherwood forest. I grew up in Nottingham and as a kid in the late 1960's and early 1970's mum and dad used to take us to Sherwood forest at the weekends for days out. At that time you could climb, play and go inside the Major Oak. It did'nt have all the supports and fencing round it then that is there now, and no cafe or visitor centre either, you took your own picnic with you if you wanted to eat and drink!
    I like the look of that pasta dish you cooked, I'm not vegan but I would definitely give that a go.

All modern cars are now built with the roofline set in from the door line. Your deflectors will stop that.

    Re: condensation - we live in a mh full time and have been for a year now. Keeping windows clear to let air flow is essential. We have a karcher window vac for the cab. For the living area we make sure we open sky light a little when cooking because gas creates moisture. Don't have any wet washing hanging around or drying in the van if possible. It is the worst for creating moisture. That includes wet coats etc. I know, easier said than done but it is part of van life. At the end of the day they are not meant to be lived in. Keep drying any moisture as soon as it appears or mould becomes an issue. It's not solutions but rather being pro-active. Ventilation is key always. The man from the council told me mam her bedroom had condensation because two people at night asleep were breathing! She was unsure whether or not the solution he was going to offer was to stop breathing but she took no chances and moved out. But some things will be unavoidable so keep on top of it. Yeah i know, it is a pain but when the better weather comes it is a whole different ball game! Btw i hear having a diesel heater cuts a lot of the moisture down. More expense though.

    • @ThoseHappyDays
      @ThoseHappyDays  2 роки тому +1

      @@ThoseHappyDays I think you can keep the diesel heater on all night. It is cheap to run because you can use red diesel as it is for heating. The only drawback that people complain about is that they make a noise. Depends on how sensitive to noise you are. I suggest you look up John and Mandy on here, they did some videos on it. Of course there are others but we follow them so they always spring mind. But diesel heaters are the way forward!

    Ref condensation, you will always end up with a fine film of dirt on windows, house or car, this will attract condensation so, regular cleaning at least once a week should help keep this down, look for supermarket own brand cleaner with vinegar as part of the ingredients as this type seems to help keep the dirt down. They used to sell an anti fog product but the vinegar should work just as well, or try using a product called rain-x, test on one of the back windows first before using on the cab windows, you don’t want to impair vision out the windscreen.
    Because your sleeping in a confined space your breath will add to the problem so better ventilation is needed, a vent above the bed and one by the sliding door should help with the air flow but then you will get cold. You could try a small fan to push the air around, this is something that people are doing stateside when they only have one roof vent most have two one at each end of the van. The other option is using rain guards on the door windows that way you can leave them cracked open at night. Also make sure to use a heavy weight blackout material between the cab and the living area this will help keep the living area warm as the large glass area in the cab will draw the cold in.
    Hope this helps.

      Great tips Martin, and they are much appreciated! You are right with all of them. We have a vent in the roof but no air flow to it. So we may go down the wind deflectors root and then use a little USB fan through the night or maybe put the extractor on in the vent - not sure how effective it is to be honest.
      It's interesting what you say about the windows and cleaning them, we will make sure to do it maybe a bit more frequently than we do! We heard even fairy liquid is great at keeping the condensation down?
      Really appreciate all the tips, I'm sure we will use one or more of them this week 😀

    • @martinrandall5836
      @martinrandall5836 2 роки тому

      @@ThoseHappyDays … Fairy liquid is alright for cleaning but don’t leave on glass as it will smear and you will end up cleaning again.
      Don’t put Fairy in the washer bottle only use winter washer fluid it won’t freeze and keeps the system clean. Make sure you top up the vans engine coolant with antifreeze, you don’t want problems with overheating and burst pipes. If you’re not sure Halfords will do a winter check for you. Over time the rubber pipe work will perish but with regular maintenance they can last for years.
