- Thanks for everyone’s comments and feedback.
Brought myself a pair of QC35ii to compare against the new 2021 QC45..
Check out my QC45 review: • Review - 2021 Bose QC4...
or Unboxing: • Unboxing - 2021 Bose Q...
The very first comparison on UA-cam of these two beasts! TY!
Thanks!
Loved the video. The fact that I am commenting on any video for the first time speaks for itself on how impressed I am. Thank You!
Thank you and appreciate the kind comment!
I was trying to decide whether to buy the qc35 II, but now I see I should wait the for the qc 45. Thank you for this excellent comparison.
Cheers thanks for the feedback!
I can’t imagine a more perfect comparison thank you very much
My pleasure!
Nice, concise comparison yet you cover all important aspects, thanks Kelvin!
Thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching!
Excellent! My QC 45s just shipped today! Very excited!
Nice!!
This is exactly the comparison video I was looking for. Nice job on the video. Simple and straight forward. I wish they hadn't removed the back pocket on the 45 case. I use it all the time to store my boarding pass. Look like I'm going to have to get the 45 but keep the 35 case.
Thanks for the feedback! Best of both worlds on with keeping case.
lol i was sad to see that pocket go as well. Luckily i have 2 35 cases 🙈
so please according to your experiences which is better in term of sound quality? thank you
@@ahmadahmad-bw6vg assalamu alaikum, the sound signature is almost unchanged between the 35ii and 45 on default settings but on the 45 you have an in app eq to adjust whereas that app does not work with the 35ii so there’s no sound customization that being said the 35ii’s sound really pleasant without adjustment so it’s not that big of a deal for me. Also the 45 does have just a bit more openness feeling out of the triport design which might be to your liking but it’s not a big difference. The anc on the 45 however did not handle the fluctuating cabin pressure in my truck nearly as well as the 35iis and it was unbearably bad so i had to return them unfortunately.
quietcomfort 45 === yes eq max app vs quietcomfort 35=== no eq app sound quality app 45;) 35;( 😢35 no sound max not app fix
Thanks for the honest review and comparison. I personally will wait for a good deal on the qc35ii as people look to offload theirs for the qc45.
Absolutely, I picked up my new QC35ii for nearly 50% of the price of QC45. ($269 AUD)
I got them on a deal at target for $179 , they will be at that price on target again ok black friday
Cheers for that. Definitely considering an upgrade from my old battered SoundLink II wired pair. I wouldn't have thought a jump from a 35ii to a 45 was worth it for the price though, but for me it's a massive leap.
Yup that’s a decent leap. Thanks for watching.
Just got a pair of the QC45 and happy so far! Nice review, thanks.
Thanks for the feedback!
@@kelvinhong-au I to love my QC 45 and it is an upgrade like ya said as I have both.
Thanks for the review! Was using QC35 and moved to Sony XM3, sadly the side cover for XM3 broke within 6 months, and getting customer support for Sony is a nightmare.
Saw your review and ordered a QC45 last week from JB Hi-Fi, going back to the roots. Can't wait to get my hands on the QC45 next week.
Shout out to a fellow Aussie! I personally like the XM3 and still are using them today. When I upgraded to XM4 I was disappointed with the bass being backed off. When it comes to support Bose is EXCELLENT!
@@kelvinhong-au Love my Sony as well but not really a bass person so that extra bass from Sony is not my cup of tea tbh. Also, I find Bose QC to be much more comfortable than Sony XM3 for prolonged usage.
@@sudharsanrajesh1897 I own both QC35ii and Sony XM3. Love them both for different setting. QC 35ii is defintely for prolong use because of comfort. XM3 is for diving in music. I love bass so XM3’s bass is right on to my liking. The volume is louder than QC35ii at only 40%, while the Bose I have to crank up the volume quite a bit to get my music going strong. But for comfort, QC35ii beats XM3 for sure.
Same problem for me! The sides of my sony xm3 also broke. Now i am buying the qc35ii for 182,-, i don't think the qc45 are the extra 130,- worth.
Why did you switch? Looking to buy QC35II.
Thank you so much for doing a head-to-head comparison of the QC 45 vs. QC 35 ii. There is an obvious difference in sound, anc, and a slightly better microphone. I appreciate you doing this and makes me safer about buying them. Yes, I would love a comparison of the QC 45 with other headphones. Cheers.
PS! I can't believe some people think he was sponsored by Bose. -.- There are really some rude people out there.
Appreciate the feedback and kind words!
The best is qc35 2 or qc45?
@@user-jn3wg8rl5b As of now, qc 35 II IN MY OPINION.
I own Bose QC 35 II and its Remarkable till now the crispy sound quality with best ANC even after 3.5 yrs. Thank you.
Your video cleared my choice, I will not upgrade and stick to QC 35II.
Thanks for watching and comments!
Me too. I also sleep with mine so the softer and thinner ear cups will fail sooner and probably be less comfortable. To me, there's no reason to spend more money on the 45's.
Thanks for the awesome video! I purchased 2 pairs of 45’s for Christmas gifts and 1 pair 35 that was an Open Box that I am using now to watch this video. Both are really good phones but after watching this, I agree the 45’s are superior but I save $100 on the 35’s from eBay.
Wow lucky members getting QC45’s as Christmas gifts! Indeed it’s a trade off between value or newest tech. Thanks for the feedback and watching!
Thank you very much for this comparsion, really looking forward to it, however still need to wait another week for it to be luanched in China.
Same here in Norway. :)
Cheers thanks!
Such an in depth comparison! You hit every detail! I have the qc 35 ii but I want to upgrade to the qc 45's
Thanks for watching. Upgrade if you got the cash and want the newest tech.
I wouldn’t throw the word “upgrade” around too freely. Have you tried these in the wind? Truly awful, actually unusable. QC35ii are much better with their ANC options. If Bose update the firmware on these to allow the same, they will be an upgrade. But, this will put them closer to the 700s, so yeah, good luck with that.
Great comparison. Looks like I will not be upgrading to the QC45. Having had to upgrade the ear cups a little while back, I’m not really seeing the QC45 as much of an upgrade. Maybe something from Beyerdynamic. I hear they’re very comfortable.
Thanks for watching! I’ve recently brought Sony WH-1000XM5 and these are now the king of comfort.
This is an excellent video! Thank you for the in-depth analysis. I was wondering if the QC 35 II had any pair issues or skipping music with the iPhone 13 (or more recent iPhones). Lastly, how is the QC45 with wind?
I didn’t have any issues with either headphones pairing with iPad 11 Pro or iPhone 12 Pro. Wind hadn’t been an issue. Thanks for feedback and watching!
@@kelvinhong-au Thanks! I bought a pair of QC 35 IIs and have skipping issues every so often with Spotify.
Adding which is better at blocking out noise would be helpful!! For some it can be hard to find a quiet place to study / work
Thanks for feedback. Hard to test when Sydney Australia is still in hard lockdown. (sigh)
Thank you this is a great comparison
Cheers thanks!
I would appreciate if you could further elaborate on the difference in ANC performance as this is one of the reasons why people buy these headphones in the first place. You say "the noise cancellation feels a lot stronger", audio and microphone quality appears to be much better as well yet you consider the QC45 only "a 15% upgrade" ?
Hard to gage the ANC and difficult to capture. 15% is my perceived improvement.
@@kelvinhong-au thank your for the follow up. I was just wondering because PC Mag said in their review the ANC is better than Sonys XM4 which felt like 50% stronger than Bose QC35II (tested myself)
thanks for the review!
are the ear pads interchangable between the two?
I would imagine so as they’re pretty much the same dimensions.
For that high price , I prefer the Qc35II since I will use it onky in wired mode
Plus The silver color is more attractive than the white for me
QC35ii is amazing value right now.
A very very good test ! The best i have seen with this two headphone !
Wonderful feedback! Thank you and thanks for watching. 🙏
What is your thought on the clamping force comparison between QC35II and QC45 and comfort level over long time wearing.
Clamping is basically the same between the two. Either are very comfortable.
Thank you for the great review! How do you think the QC45s compare to the Sony WH-1000XM4?
trust me WH-1000XM4 is so overrated, the soundstage and breathability are terrible compare to QC35II, I bought it and sold it immediately. If you really do want sony headphone, I suggest you try WH-1000XM3
Unfortunately I dont have XM4's but do have XM3. Would anyone actually be interested in XM3 vs QC45?
@@kelvinhong-au yes, the ANC on the QC45 is better than the XM3 ?
@@kelvinhong-au yes please
@@kelvinhong-au Yess! Would love that comparison
Very Nice
Can you make a sound comparing video
QC45 vs Bowers and Willis PX7
Many thanks
Unfortunately I dont have my B&W PX7's anymore.
Thanks for that. Honestly, I really do not like the all out white / silver Bose logo on the cups this time around ... I guess I get them once my 35mk1 die :D
Agreed, the embossed logo gives it a better premium look. Stamped on is a little cheap.
got my 2nd hand QC35II at $90, now I will wait a 2nd hand for QC45 at a decent price for the upgrade.
You'll be waiting a while for that to happen mate!
im looking for a noice cance;ation headphone i can use for 10+hours straight studying ive tried the 35ii on before and are super comfortable but my concern is that i want to know if the 45 are more comfortable for a long period of time.
They’ve improved the earcups so it will still be comfortable for long uses.
@@kelvinhong-au thanks 🔥🙌🏼
I definately like the look of the buttons and the inside of the ear cups on qc35 ii'
Thanks for your feedback and watching!
whatever happened to the 700 ?
any remarks on comparison?
was about to buy em, cause I had felt them (very) slightly more comfortable, say larger,
that’s what I miss on my qc 35.
700s are aiming to be ‘higher quality’ against QC35ii. Size on QC45 are exactly the same just with softer touch materials.
@@kelvinhong-au thank you, any knowledge about the sound-quality-differences 700 to qc45 ?
Good job, Kelvin!
Thanks, appreciate it!
Both comfort and sound is better on the QC35 II so it's an easy choice. Check rtings for a well done testing.
Thanks for watching and taking time to comment!
i have the bose 700 which are outstanding.. Are there any major differences between the q45 and 700?
The aim of the 700 is to be more upper market with more premium materials and differentiated features.
To me, the 45s sound like a worse microphone. Very digital sounding
Agreed, but did you notice the background noice has no effect on the newer 45’s mic performance ? I loved that.
It does sound a tad like that. But apparently its better than the QC35's.
If you want something with a decent mic, get a proper headset and not some “audiophile” headphones.
nice review, thanks
Thanks mate!
One big factor for me that i did not notice u mention, is the 45’s ability to be connected to two Bluetooth devices simultaneously (multipoint) and is simply not possible with the 35 ii’s. Thanks for the great comparison video.
Excellent feedback and yes QC45 does have an improvement with Bluetooth simultaneous connection. Thanks for watching!
@@kelvinhong-au np, and quickest reply I’ve ever received from a creator ever. You have definitely earned a sub. Have a good one. 😁
I have the 35 II and I can connect to two devices at once.
@@SanjayVaranasi yeah i think maybe they updated them tbh because mine can as well.
Kelvin, is it possible to use the qc45 with ANC while charging them at the same time? Desperately need to know
Just tested that out and no you cant listen with Bluetooth while charging and annoyingly you cant actually listen with 3.5mm jack either!
@@kelvinhong-au thanks for testing. Yea that really sucks. At least there is fast charge.
@@kelvinhong-au Can I still Listen to Bose QC45 when the batteries are dead and without noise cancelling feature with the provided 3.5mm jack cable connected to my Laptop
Good Video, Thanks m8
Cheers appreciate it mate!
With QC45, the sound is less synthetic but speech with QC35 is clearer. Or my ears are broken? :D
The microphone was the area that needed the most improvement 😅
It does sound synthetic. On hindsight it could be my inconsistent speaking volume.
I'm still not sure which one to get since the QC35ii are half the price of the QC45
Exactly. I got my QC35ii for $265AUD brand new. Performance per $ is way to go here.
Can you compare ANC? is it possible to listen to music while having ANC on with a 3.5mm cable with Bluetooth turned off to have minimum radiation?
Yes using cable will cut off Bluetooth and ANC/Aware mode will still work.
@@kelvinhong-au Does this work for the QC 45 as well?
@@kelvinhong-au Is it 3.5 or 2.5 mm? Mini or micro-jack?
hey thank you for this nice review you sail thant it is woroth to upgrade to the bose 45 from bose 35 and at the same time rting result's is the bose 35 is better so why that ?
Thanks for the feedback, thanks for watching! QC35 is better value overall.
Nowadays times are TOUGH due to financial pressure for most and some don't(maybe you), I suggest to you that your recommendation should be the 45's improvements are marginal and only upgrade if you have spare cash or it is one of your first priority in life.
Absolutely. QC35ii are amazing value whereas if you got the cash go grab QC45.
Sorry, but anybody with any of this tech and/or considering this tech does NOT need to be taught a life lesson on what to do.
Hi can I ask, the noise cancelling is for the microphone or the headphone?
I believe it’s both as the caller cannot hear the background noise.
The old QC 35s over time had issues with the Power Button - has this been solved with the QC 45s?
The power switch has changed. Not sure about longevity/failures though?
@@kelvinhong-au Thank you for the quick reply
My QC35's are going strong since 2016. I upgraded to QC35II's 6 months ago but the left speaker died and I got refunded as they were no longer available. Still no issues with my power button on the QC35's. Mine get alot of use everyday.
The microphone in the 45 appears to have a feedback loop which sounds like crickets . but an improvement over the scratchy QC35s microphone I would like to hear more on the quality of the 45 microphone/headphone sound interaction.
Late improvement is better than never. Yeah it does seem like that?
I’ve currently got the Bose qc 35 ii I’m getting Bose qc 45
Good decision!
@@kelvinhong-au thanks 🙏
Thank you for the review. I am not sure which one to buy, kind looks like the the QC 35 have better build quality.
Yes QC35 has the better build. But QC45 has the newer tech. Thanks for watching!
Hi, Which Bose QC35 or Bose QC45 Headphones have better bass?
I would say QC45 personally as it was cleaner.
what about the different ANC Modes? The QC45 doesnt have an Off-Mode which the QC35ii has.
Didn’t get around to testing Quiet and Aware modes on QC45. Yes QC35ii can turn off ANC but lacks transparency mode. Thanks for watching!
@@kelvinhong-au my problem is i get dizzy after a couple of hours using ANC (for example while flying), i want do disable ANC. so i bought Bose AE2i but the sound quality is really bad.. i'm getting QC35ii tomorrow.
do replacement earpads for the qc35 fit on the qc45? i have a bunch of qc35 earpads but my qc35 just died. thinking of upgrading to qc45.
Yeah it looks like it. QC35 and QC45 have interchangeable earpads.
Please am not English man . Can't translate more you said
Which one is better for music details worthy clear high quality
Bose 700
or bose qc45
or soundcore life q35 ..
Or Sony
or what ..
QC45 has best better sound than QC35. I can’t comment on 700’s though? Thanks for watching!
So you compared them by not including the audio for the QC 35? How does that work?
Yeah I recorded both QC35ii and QC45 with same track for comparison. Thanks for watching!
I love how the QC 35 look to be honest
Agreed, they’ve taken a bit of a step backwards in quality. Thanks for watching!
Ive had Bose headphones, soundlink25s, for 6-7 yrs and they recenty gave up. Love them and used them almost daily so well worth money. Bought qc45 and first thought was quality. Like its clean sound and not too heavy on bass. Buy another brand for tat purpose. Tho i must say im very disappointed with noice cancellation. Slightest wind and you hear it. Even with music on. I have to say i will retyurn the pair... too much money and expected better...
Best value I would recommend is QC35ii over QC45s. Noise cancellation is only minor upgrade. Thanks for watching!
Are the 45 as comfy and easy to wear?
Yep they sure are. Pretty similar in comfort. Thanks for watching!
Hey there great video and some really good points raised. I'd like your opinion on something if you may. Here in the UK I've seen the QC35ii go on sale to £189 quite often and the Bose QC700 for £202. Just wondering if its worth getting the 35ii's over the 45's which are £320. 700's are out of the picture because of touch controls, buggy software and clamp force. Thanks in advance.
Thanks for watching! Given the features to $ ratio, QC35ii is amazing value. If you want the newest features and $ isn’t an issue then QC45.
Have you done any test on call quality?
Thanks, thats a good test to include. Will have that in my next video!
Do the QC45's auto pause when you take them off your ears?
I was wondering the same thing.
Unfortunately it doesn’t have sensors to do that.
To be honest I hate that feature, call me crazy but I swear I heard the sound bouncing off of that notch they use for the auto pause sensor. I returned my xm4's. It is only in one earcup and I that is the one where I heard a sort of clicking sound a times.
Not sure how you can say that the microphone is better on the 45
A tad better would prob better said.
For a person on autism spectrum which of the two would you say is better ? Thanks.
QC35ii is fine and QC45 for someone who wants more newer updates. Thanks for watching!
So basically it's just some minor cosmetic upgrades from the qc35 2?
Pretty much. Some of changes are actually backwards in quality feel.
@@kelvinhong-au sad to hear. Oh well, it just means the current qc35 2 that I own still dominates the market even after so long! No need to waste more money than needed.
Nope. Best Value per $ = QC35ii. Newest minor features and money isn’t a concern = QC45.
way better now with the EQ update for the 45
Ah ic thats now a plus for EQ on QC45. Thanks for updating and watching!

Bose QC 35 ii $179 Black Friday Weekend!
Nice! Nothing really a deal here down in Aussie.
Is it worth the upgrade?
What it’s worth is relative to your own expectations. If you want value go QC35ii if you want latest and greatest with minor upgrades go QC45s. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Hi kelvin , Im getting Bose QC 35ii in 145 usd is it worth it ?
And can you suggest a microphone attachment to improve call quality ?
QC35ii is best value atm and mic is a comparable.
Just got a pair of qc 45s. Pretty sure I'm returning. They're just wayyyy to flat. No bass. No depth. Sure the noise cancelling is good. Very clear. I guess if you want really clear podcasts or calls, than these ain't bad. But for music... no way. I had the QC 35 before and I swore they sounded better than the 45s. Used to love bose but these are really disappointing.
I must say Bose has outstanding return policy! You really have nothing to loose. Enjoyable sound signature is relative to the listener. Thanks for watching!
Tried them both and loved the 35 sorry 45 didn’t wow me and all cheap plastic with a scratch Bose brand. Nah it was a terrible upgrade lol. If you upgrade please go with the 700
Not sure about the longevity or 700s. I think an ‘upgrade’ is looming/due.
How is the sound leakage?
QC45 we’re no different to QC35ii sound leakage.
Long waited comparison
Hope it helped. Thanks for watching!
I like the Q35better than the QC45 not much difference on them .I found that 35has better base than 45.as I HV heard them .
Bass generally gets more pronounced as the headphone ages. But time will tell and yes QC35ii is best bang for buck.
nice job man
Cheers thanks man!
Cheers thanks man!
Both is over the air?
Updates are via your phone or iPad. Thanks for watching!
to me, bose is cutting down corner by each iteration, the qc35 ii compare to qc35 lost the engraved logo on the case and the airplane adapter, then this qc45 lost the Alcantara on top, the earpads are downgraded from protein-ish leather to a generic one, the logo is just printed on, even the zip on the case is downgraded from a solid piece to a strip
Think this is strategic to differentiate it from 700s.
So the 45 is like a little bit better on everything than the 35 . Not bad
I bought the 35 when it first came out
I use them but not a everyday use . So I don’t see my self buying the 45 any time soon
QC35s are fine, Pretty much just incremental changes on QC45s.
The look of the 35s look cleaner
QC35ii style has held well over many years. Thanks for watching!
these are a lateral move at best and if you own 35's there is NO reason to switch...
Yup indeed. Thanks for watching!
Looks like the QC35II is still the move.
Great value atm if you don’t want newest tech.
@@kelvinhong-au I like the way it sounds better as well. ...which makes the value differential go through the roof.
QC 45s are UNUSABLE in windy situations. QC35s can eliminate wind noise in ANC low mode, which QC45s do not have anymore. Buy QC35 ii
I think they cut corners somewhere? Thanks for watching and commenting!
Can you use them with a cable if you don’t want to use BT?
Yes, with or without power. But without power looses ANC/Aware mode and EQ.
@@kelvinhong-au great! Thank you. I still have the QC25s lol
The QC 45 sounds less balanced and less accurate.
I dont think these are aimed for audiophiles but it was difficult to accurately gauge this. Everyone has their own preference to sound balance.
@@kelvinhong-au Well you don’t necessarily have to be an audiophile to look for balanced sound

Such a shame what they did to the QC45s. Lower quality with a steeper price; what better way to say "fuсk you" to the consumer? They cheaped out on the earpads and headband, nerfed the carrying strap on the case and removed the case's rear pouch, substituted the case's grippable and durable zipper for a shitty soft leather one, and the quality control has been startlingly poor for a company generally known for high quality audio products. I myself had to return my first pair after receiving it with ANC only working in one ear - it felt like I was descending in an airplane. I had my QC35 IIs for 4 years before it started making intermittent screeching noises and garbled audio, and I loved them so much I just had to support Bose by "upgrading" to the 45s. Since I couldn't get a refund for my first pair of QC45s I'll be shopping exclusively Sony in the future, unfortunately.
For the algorithm
