Josh my father did upholstery for years. He did everything furniture, auto, boats and leer jets. A piece of advise is next time prior to installing the foam. Place s piece of canvas over the springs hog tying it down. This stops what happened to your old seat cushion. You can even use burlap. As for the hog rings they make hog ring pliers. Making it much easier to install hog rings. Also another thing is to make it easier to take the seat apart and reinstall it. Is to use a hair dryer or heat gun on low and or keep it at least 8 inches away. The heat on the sides of the seat cover will soften the vinyl and make it much more pliable. God bless

4H has a slogan that I think really applies to a lot of SRF content... "Learning to do, by doing" I can appreciate a well thought plan and educated decisions but sometimes you just have to start taking things apart to see what's what.

Tip- Use a hair dryer on the vinyl when reinstalling over the new pad. Softens and stretches the vinyl.

A good leather conditioner makes a difference over time. Old hog rings sometimes break when opened. Hog rings are not expensive, but a hog ring pliers is highly recommended. The weather is getting warmer, he says. It's fifteen degrees here in Minnesota with a major snowstorm going on. But Josh can't go snomobiling .

Great instructional video. I have a 2015 chevy conversion van I bought new from Castrucci and the seat cushions instead of leather as advertises are vinyl with leather edges. The vinyl is all pretty much pealed off. They did send me a new set of covers but I will have to pay to have them installed. I don't think I will try this as I don't want to screw things up so will have to pay someone to do this for me. If the van was older I would definitely try this. My 1998 chevy van still has fantastic cloth seats. Explorer conversions in my opinion are junk. But thanks for the great video

When I saw the video title I imagined worn out seats like at my farm. Where the seat cushion fell out 10 years ago, and you are sitting on springs or a 2x6. My daily driver has a a quarter of the seat missing, and my dads tahoe has every single function broken on his seat. There is an actual 2x4 holding the back of the seat up, and it's not bolted down. You do you though, if you have time to fix it have at it.
