Jerry, continue staying true to yourself with your honest feedback on every episode. As a subscriber, this is exactly why I watch you-for your genuine opinions. I’m glad you’re not a people pleaser, and those who get it, will! Also, totally agree binge watching this whole season. Made it more tolerable watching for me (Thanks Paramount +) lol
I hadn’t really thought they were gonna actually go with the “immunity” approach for Laurent. I know there was a couple hints in season 1 but when they said he was gifted and special I was under the impression they were gonna make him eventually lead France bring some kind of unity. Cuz I thought that was the whole reason madame Genet wanted Laurent because he was a threat to her and what she’s built.
I had assumed the immunity approach was always intended. They just didn't portray that well in S1 but with him being born from a bitten person implies he could be immune
Just wanted to say as a new viewer as I love the walking dead and the spin off series, I absolutely adore channels who are honest with their opinions and views on the show or episodes because as a fan I overlook what usually I would nitpick as a film studies nerd. I find it hard to engage with videos on UA-cam when I feel they are sugarcoating everything and your videos have been great.
Only thing that was missing from Greenland story was, that this chick that survived should've come with them so Carol could've throw her out of the plane, so we get Travis all over again 😁🤣God, seeing plane in twd universe just brings me to Ftwd season 5
I waited to watch until this episode came out and back to back, I was highly entertained. Not quite the level of The Ones Who Live, but still high quality writing and acting
I agree with your takes, this season has been a massive step-down in quality after a phenomenal first season. As much as I love Melissa McBride as Carol, her story this season has mostly dragged the quality of the show down quite a bit.
I actually like the Laurent "Messiah" storyline. Based off the idea that its bullshit and the people at the nest are just using him for political gain. Now if he ends up actually being immune to Walker bites that would definitely change how I feel about it..the Greenland scene was weird, it did remind me of Fear. They just had to shoehorn 1 stop before they got to France
Concept for daryl dixon the series.........he gets off the boat, drinks water, walks ashore, a new world.......he smells bread and baguettes....all of A sudden he gets attacked by French bakery products.......THE WALKING BREAD!
The rest of the season is the same, I watched episodes 2-6 all at once and on a binge it is really really good, I can't imagine watching this week to week. Great review I am glad you don't sugarcoat.
Interesting intro! I got to be real reciprocally, I think of this channel as a negative channel. Not necessarily disingenuously negative (e.g. Eric Kaine), but that is kinda my impression on the few vids I've seen. With so much bad faith criticism for TV, movies, politics, etc. on UA-cam, it's hard not to assume the worst when you see a neg video title. I've been watching TWD content on UA-cam religiously since the hiatus between seasons 6 and 7 of the main show, so I've been around a minute lol, and have seen twd creators literally turn into negative click generators to sustain their channel. It's a pretty common thing when people realize hate gets more clicks, and not just with TV and movie critique, so it's hard to assume good faith. But I will try for you and decide after watching. The irony is that TWD for me has had its golden age AND silver age already pass. We are in like the bronze age of the franchise in terms of, well, quality and cultural cache. With all that said, the fact that I have the whole season downloaded since episode 1 and just now finished episode 2 says more than I can with words about my general thoughts on the franchise. TOWL felt like a franchise finale basically, leaving us with little connecting the shows and no large threat beyond the dead.
The thing that bugged me the most in the second episode was Carol ditching Ash as soon as they landed in France. Not only is that sh*tty behavior, but it was also stupid and shortsighted on her part, because the dude speaks French! I realize Carol generally fights her battles as a lone warrior, but I really felt like Ash could have been an asset for her. It made no sense to me that he would just be like, "Ok, catcha later!" and be fine with being left to sit with the plane doing nothing. Overall I liked the episode a lot better than the first, which was chock full of uncharacteristically dumb behavior on Carol's part. As it was in S1, the cinematography is quite stunning. Now if the writing could only catch up to that level. They need to stop writing Carol doing dumb stuff! 🤪
I think there's 2 reasons why she wanted him to stay. #1: she's concerned for his safety. A lot of people near Carol end up dying and she's pretty traumatized by it. She's doing damage control. And #2: she's still playing the lie about Sophia and might prefer coming back with Daryl to the plane and be able to continue the lie that she was unable to find Sophia but found her friend instead.
Thanks for the honesty. We appreciate it when your opinion is genuine and true. Lots of stuff in this season or spin off isn't great. Not bad just not great. I sincerely it gets better and episode 2 was an improvement on episode 1. It sounds as though it may not get better with the leaks from Season 3 already. I am not loving this so far but it's OK.
love your channel and most of your takes. I adored season 1 (despite disliking dead city and towl). carol is my fav twd character but I feel like she's really destroyed this show... she feels so out of place and I hate how she's lied to ash. all of the french characters, especially izzy and laurent are so interesting and I hate they've gotten sidelined. I also hate how they've made everyone at the nest 'bad'. there was literally no set up to it and it feels like a cheap way to move past the french storyline. looking forward to hearing your takes on the other episodes.
Jerry, man, I respect the hel outta your wanting to NOT sugarcoat your opinions on this. As a person who has other people who got utterly livid with me for NOT just nodding my head along and saying "Pmgh the Last of us was even more amazing than the video game itself! It was better than TWD!" And instead I tore it a new one for all its short comings, even Episode 3 which, on its own likea short film, brilliant. Brilliantly shot, edited, acted. Ect. But as a 8 episode story!? It did nothing for the plot. It was akin to the Eastman episode of TWD but even that tied in more to S6 than E3 of TLOU. Not to mention I wouldn't care if Ellie goes. Gonna be mighty fun to watch Season 2 reactions withtheir own Glenn getting Lucille'd. But yeah, I may not agree with your takes on perhaps TOWL, but you are far more sensible than some of TWD ciritcs on here. Its either but kissery and cope of the highest degree or stupid criticism that honestly gets answered in another episode only for the guynot admit he was wrong. Another reason I respect you, you are open to admitting you got something wrong. This episode was WAY BETTER than the first, but also better than the first episode of S1 of DD. Nothing has topped TOWL Ep1 though. Idk, I love Norman Reedus, but he definitely isn't an Andrew Lincoln level. No hate. Loved the Greenland part actually. Its fun for me to mark off placesTWD has been, I still am irked my homestate of Colorado is ONLY mentioned in Fear in S2, we wouldn't go down that easy. Lol. Overall, Ep2, 8.5/10. It had very few lag times. I love exploring the Nest and am not shocked that they wanna do some weird "Ceremony" to prove Laurant is special, made me think of that mexican village in Fear with the guy claiming he got bit yet he stayed alive. Either way, lobing your reviews, keep being honest bro! 🤝
Okay so the whole like testing Laurent makes sense in my eyes cause the Asian dude wrote a scriptures that all these people believe in. Well in those I’d take a hard assumption that Laurent fits the prophet in the scriptures. In episode two the mission people keep saying “they are beginning to doubt”. And so the head man says to that girl “the only way to cure doubt is thru a miracle/ fulfilled prophecy.” So I could really see the mission people believing Laurent is invulnerable just so they can believe in a higher purpose. Like those people are in a cult. French Waco lol
You even shoudln't take it personally, I am huge TWD fan since 2012 I guess and I completaly understand your points of dissapointment or anger, even tho my opinion is almost always similar, it's like you are speaking my inside feelings out, but it's still your opinion even if I had different look on it, Doesn't matter if it's you, MovieIdol PTchannel etc. I respect you cause you are too honest with this just like me 😂
You saying the season will be better on a binge makes me feel good about waiting for the whole season to drop before watching 😊 I've watched DD1 & TWOL on a binge & waiting for all the DD2 episodes to drop to watch on a binge... mainly because I'm not interested in subscribing to AMC+ for 2 months to watched week to week... I previously subscribed for a one week free trial once all the TOWL episoded aired & and once I finished them decided to give DD and Fear City a try...found I enjoyed DD more then TOWL, but couldnt get through Dead City...
ok, watched all episodes, I enjoyed it more than S1, but it kinda ends as if it were in the middle of a season. Like it does give closure to a lot of lingering plotlines, but the very last 10 minutes feel like it could have been better as part of S3 opener.
I liked it a lot more than the 1st episode. It was entertaining all the way through and had some decent scenes...but you really have to turn your brain off. I mean Carol knows that Daryl is in France.... thats it, France. It would be like if they lived in France and she heard he was in the US, she finds her way over here and just immediately gets on his trail. It is like a 1 on a 10 million chance. I am going to love messing with the "Caryl" shippers though
How dare you! Lmfao People being mad over your opinions on TWD is crazy. Of course there are UA-camrs that just trash things to trash them but you explain why you didn't enjoy or DID enjoy certain aspects of the story. I've always enjoyed your takes, I find them to be genuine and explained intelligently.
I've been reflecting on something for a while now, though I haven't quite figured out the best way to express it. I'm starting to feel frustrated with what I call the culture of "toxic positivity" online. It seems that some people are so insecure about the things they enjoy that they become overly defensive whenever a poster or content creator shares negative opinions about their favorite shows or interests. What many people seem to overlook is that certain personality types genuinely enjoy critical thinking and analyzing things from a more scrutinizing perspective, then sharing those thoughts. Likewise, some of us actively seek out that kind of content. If people prefer lighter, more affirming commentary, that's perfectly fine-there’s room for all sorts of preferences. But it's becoming increasingly stifling for those of us who appreciate more in-depth, critical analysis. Take a show I don't particularly enjoy as an example. It's not that I'm forcing myself to endure it in agony. Rather, watching it through a critical lens is my form of entertainment, and I find enjoyment in that. I, along with others like Jerry, am entitled to this approach, and he's free to share his criticisms as well. Clearly, there’s an audience for this content, myself included. It's also perfectly fine to be a fan of something that others criticize - no one is saying you're wrong for liking a show that's unpopular. There are plenty of things I enjoy that aren't widely loved. I like things for my own reasons, not for others, and you can do the same. Also, I just gotta add that, unless I missed it, I didn't notice Carol being aware of WHERE in France Daryl is. Just that he's "in France". France is a whole ass damn country, you don't just find someone "in France". The whole thing with getting Carol to France has been too dumb for me, even by Walking Dead standards. And I'm actually generally good at suspending my disbelief. But this is some Fear the Walking Dead shit here.
@@eva_peverell Oh, absolutely. That whole situation was extremely absurd in its own right, and I was honestly a bit surprised that more people didn’t call out just how ridiculous it was. I mean, the entire premise of Michonne "looking for Rick" felt equally silly as the Carol story in this show. Where exactly is she supposed to be looking for him? It’s like, where does she even begin? What leads does she have? How does she expect to just stumble across him in this huge post-apocalyptic world? To be fair, I’ll admit I don’t follow these shows with the intensity of a diehard fan, so maybe I’ve missed some crucial explanations or breadcrumbs they’ve dropped along the way. I’m not glued to every detail, and it's possible they've addressed some of these questions in a way that might make more sense to the superfans who hang on every plot twist. But from where I'm sitting, The Ones Who Live had an equally flimsy premise.
@@StraightEdgeJunkie But you're right, it needs to be taken into account that I REALLY love Carol, she's my favorite character in TWD, and this is my favorite spin-off, I'm attentive to all the little things
HATE ME JERRY!!!!!! haha kidding. This episode was "ok", advanced the story along. Without spoilers, there was some SERIOUS "that was easy to figure out" in this one. Better than all Dead City Eps (not that thats difficult), and better than at least half of the TOWL Episodes.
this episode was better, yeah. not amazing, but ok. i kinda feel like i don't recognize daryl tho. the person we're seeing on screen is fun and engaging and a fairly good character i guess, but to me it just doesn't feel like daryl. they never really showed him acting like this in the walking dead, which is definitely the shitty writing, but it makes this personality change feel really sudden and kinda weird.
I honestly believe that Moulin Rouge is the best episode of the whole show (without having watched E3-6) and the best episode the franchise dropped in years (better than any TOWL and Dead City episode). It was just great to me, it didn't have goofy lines like the season premiere, it developed side characters, the cinematography was beautiful, every plot line made sense and didn't came out of nothing,... . About the chinese guy plot line, it made perfect sense to me: Daryl is leaving soon, Daryl gets along with Laurent, Daryl may persuade Laurent to leave with him, so I can't allow that. And the Greenland plot, the problem to me was thw two girls wanting to repopulate the world, I don't buy it, but the rest was fine to me. I assume they knew they can't keep a woman captured 9 months waiting for her to give birth. Ash, on the other hand, is only needed to..., you know. I don't know, for me, the episode was flawless (considering TWD's franchise standards) and I think it's the best piece of media we got from TWD's franchise in years
@@ashley.taylor174 It's interesting how many different opinions there are. I consider The Ones Who Live is the weakest spin-off. The script is just terrible, the only good thing about it is Andy
@@ashley.taylor174 Norman and Melissa are as good actors as Andrew, and Rick and Michonne's character return is the only good thing about TOWL, the rest is trash
@@eva_peverell Your opinion is wrong. The Ones Who Live had higher ratings and more critics loved it. Danai and Andy were great. Daryl snd Carol do not have range.
It sucks have nothing for Sundays as paramount FUCKED IT UP! so I'm watching FROM at the mo and Designated Survivor, waiting for SWAT season 7 or 8..I think I need time from the Walking Damned.
I don’t know what some people’s problems are but as far as criticism goes your one of the reasonable ones. You’re more reasonable than me who actually despises most of the spin-offs but watches it anyways out of loyalty. In terms of this particular episode, there was a lot of stuff I found quite unnecessary but I’m still sort of intrigued by what’s going to happen.
This was a HUGE improvement over the first episode. I was on the edge of my seat most of the runtime. There was a lot more going on and it felt more like this show (to me) instead of a Fear episode, weird Greenland thing aside. The thing that makes me overlook that is at least they didn't stay there for a whole episode like Fear would've done. It was over in 15 minutes thank God.. Looking forward to where they go with some of the storylines. A Carol/Codron team up could go CRAZY and Daryl is in a hole he can't get out of with this union of hope stuff. Losang is getting more interesting as it goes on. I also am really starting to like Laurent and Ash as well as characters. Lots of cool stuff, even with some dumb things here and there. I will say I'm with you, I'm glad the storylines are combined now, hopefully some of the dumb shit will subside now that Carol is in France. It feels like it has more momentum going than the premiere which is also a good thing. Also if you say the spoilers look good I'm excited to see where it goes. Also, A). Don't listen to the crazies, Jerry. People who can't just not get mad when someone doesn't like a TV show need to f off. Also B) thank you for not saying the spoilers/deleting comments, I watch on cable weekly and it's a godsend. I somehow haven't seen anything (maybe heard something about Genet) but overall don't know and I hope it stays that way for 28 more days, lol.
please post every review of season 2... I like reviews more than the episodes itself, if it wasn't for all you youtubers I wouldn't even be interested anymore. I am interested inwhat you have to say because i dind't like it.
I've seen all 6 episodes. i won't spoil anything, but trust me, it's very under whelming and unrelistic. I actually see no point in making this spin off
I haven't watched EP. 5 and Ep. 6, but I liked EP. 4, even though I think THAT first death was so unnecessary and a mistake. Other decisions, I called out my predictions in the EP.1 video (in regards to the choice of villains).
Ugh, HATE that this is set in France. Loathe these French characters -- especially Laurent, and when They SAY "Laurent" -- and Daryl and this French 'Nun" have nooo chemistry...at ALL. (The glimmer of chemistry they MIGHT have had was in Season 1, in the episode where they were at her old apartment; but that has long since evaporated.) That tepid kiss just exchanged give Isabele NO vote as to what happens between Daryl and Carol. Let's move this along to someone/somWHERE else.
Worst season I’ve ever watched in ever twd content honestly world beyond quality and episode 2 was shockingly bad those two new characters like what was the point

In TOWL, Rick actually fell on Michonne from the sky 😄
@@StraightEdgeJunkie Carol's path seemed logical and convincing to me
@@StraightEdgeJunkie But you're right, it needs to be taken into account that I REALLY love Carol, she's my favorite character in TWD, and this is my favorite spin-off, I'm attentive to all the little things
@@eva_peverell Okay, maybe I’ve missed something. To me it seems really convenient.
The leron choosen one thing is extremely dumb. it felt like they wanted to do the French last of us.
I like the episode i liked the pit stop that carol and ash had because in the end we met crazy bitches and they died in the end. Side quest done.
Also i think all this stuff would stop.
speak your opinion man love hearing it 🤩
Jerry is the rest of the season good
Better on a binge that’s all I’ll say right now
Yup, just a binger...nothing A*
Childish as hell for people to want you to conceal your honest opinion to hear what they want😂. Love your vids
I don't know, for me, the episode was flawless (considering TWD's franchise standards) and I think it's the best piece of media we got from TWD's franchise in years
Sorry but Rick is a better actor that can carry a show. The Ones Who Live is superior in every way.
@@xabipro2204 Norman and Melissa have no range as actors. The Ones Who Live had the highest ratings. Higher than many episodes of TWD.
Great rant nerd
Thank you sir🫡

😂😂spongebob
The Daryl side of the episode was a decent 9/10 probably. The Carol side? Oh boy.
@@darford5284 I felt they have very good chemistry
I too felt like they had good chemistry.
Worst season I’ve ever watched in ever twd content honestly world beyond quality and episode 2 was shockingly bad those two new characters like what was the point
