I literally sent my husband links to several things I wanted last Christmas season, and told him I wanted one of those. Bless that man; he bought me everything on the list. 😅❤

I made my husband a PowerPoint with links and he didn't buy anything on it. He stated "that's an insult to my gift giving skills I can pick out something that you'll love". He bought a hammock chair because "I love hammocking". In the previous year I fell out of a hammock, broke my spine in 8 places and was temporarily paralyzed. Needless to say I don't love hammocks anymore.

For reals, I needed this video 22 years ago for my husband. I was sadly disappointed many years, especially my first birthday with him. The loaf of banana bread was sweet, but that was NOT my Idea of a present from my new husband. It took many years to figure out what the other person truly loved.
Kim gigglinh in the backgroind means it's spot on! Pro tip for Penn: keep a list in your phone of anything she casually mentions she likes during the year. Then you'll have plenty yo choose from.
Not from the whole year, because if he buys something she liked the month after her birthday, it wouldn't be something she probably would like next birthday... start paying attention about 2 months before.
My favorite part of my Mom's birthday was the gift critique. One year I said, "I know what you really mean to say is, 'thank you' so you're welcome for the gift." That shut her up.

This time her laughter was not real. This skit actually was true, but he thought it was a joke. But I feel that she actually really needs him to really go all out and do something special.

I’m 48. I’m impressed you give it to him and he wraps it. Now my husband asks me a week before my birthday if I want something and I tell him, “You don’t have to go get me anything - I already got it.” Then he kind of gets this concerned look cause whatever I got is probably pretty valuable. This year it’s the VIP tickets to see Stone Temple Pilots. I’ve been waiting for over 30 years to see them as I didn’t get to as a college student. They finally have a great lead singer once again. I too forgot how old I was for a year or 2. Love this skit.

I think of it as they take turns being so much.
I get exhausted watching him, because my own likely ADHD manifests with hyper focus, and watching his re-enactments of his utter lack of focus drains my brain.
But I assume he’s hyper focused in his studio.
I always tell my husband I want experience based presents. Things like a fun date, spa gift card, go somewhere fun as a family but he has to wrangle the kids.

I forgot what year I was born. I put the wrong year on some official documents and had to go through a whole thing. So that was fun 😂 I buy my own gifts and just tell my husband what he got me. The last time he tried to pick stuff out I got extension cords and a pair of poultry shears for the kitchen. I don’t touch raw chicken so not sure what he was thinking.

My mom does the same thing. Every holiday she orders her own gift then pretends that she doesn't remember what it is. We wrap it. Less than a week before said holiday she decides she wants something different 😄We always get a surprise gift and then it's up to her if she likes either one. We love her, she loves us...We've done our best 🤗

Being single I buy myself what I want throughout the year but I try to not do that the month of my birthday or Christmas.
My family has decreed I am to not buy anything in Nov and Dec. I must put it in my Amazon wishlist instead.
My Opa gave my Grammy a chainsaw one year 😂 that gift was definitely appreciated, but it got plenty of laughs!
I literally had this talk with my 8 yr old daughter yesterday. I forgot I was still 47 and turning 48 in November. But the sad thing is the convo started with me saying I was 46…she said “no you’re 48” (her 3rd grade math skills were in point she just hadn’t considered it being month dependent)
I figure I’ll just ask her when I need to know from now on.😂
My mom always expected me to remember all that stuff when I was a kid lol. "Remind me to stop here or get this at the store' . I did a great job til I was in my 20's and had more stuff crowding my brain. She was like 'you're supposed to remind me" & all I could do was say sorry haha

This was PERFECT timing! My Birthday is tomorrow (4/18)! I say the same thing... Don't get me anything, because I just get it for myself anyway! I've been married for 32 years and I think he's only gotten me 2 things that I really ever liked! LOL I'm happy with buying myself my own gifts because I get what I want! hahahaha I also tend to forget how old I am as well... I actually ask my hubby how old I am all the time... I have brain farts! tehehehe

I’m a teen and my mom just tells me what she wants and then when my dad inevitably asks for ideas I tell him what she “I think” she wants and it works out perfectly every time
I just got married (for the first and only time!) about two years ago at age 51. Since we started dating my husband has been great about paying attention and always getting me things I talked about wanting. 😁

My oldest daughter finally gave me a perfect system to figure out how old I am. She was born the day before my 22nd birthday, and I always remember how old she is, so I just have to add 22 to her age and I know how old I am!
I sent this to my husband and told him it was “critical education” and not parody. He came to me and sheepishly said, “That video was confusing and I don’t know how educational it could be because I am just confused.”

This is me every Christmas, Valentine's, mothers day and birthday. I'm good. I get things I love and he wraps them. 43 years!
My wife and I have been together for 23 years we are mid 50's and over the last few years if we see something that we would want for birthday gifts or even Christmas we buy it give it to the other and they know to store it away til Christmas or Birthday. Less drama trying to find something for each other.
Husbands: get the things in the Amazon cart that have been there for awhile. She’s forgotten about them but will be so excited. If it’s still there, she still wants it but talked herself out of buying it. 😊

I just had my 70th birthday. I am 70 freaking years old and do you think my husband of 41 years got me anything ? Noooo. If it wasn’t for my DIL we would not have gone out to eat at one of my favorite restaurants. She made the reservation 6 weeks ago. I guess I will go buy myself something.

My parents do that exact same thing with each other! They each buy things they want throughout the year, but they keep them packaged and stored away until Christmas so that the other person has things to give to them. It's kinda goofy but super sweet, and it works well for them.

We have been married for almost 44 years. We have what is called a "No Buy Zone". It is one month before "holidays" (e.g. Father's Day), birthdays, and Christmas (this kind of sucks for me since my birthday is in November). You cannot buy ANYTHING that could be considered a "gift" for yourself and must tell your partner that there is something you want. It is now April, and my wife wants some Alpaca slippers. She can't just buy them, but she told me she wants them. So guess what she is getting for Mother's Day?

I get my own presents for birthday and Christmas, then give them to my husband to wrap. When the special day comes around, I have forgotten what I got myself so it's a surprise.

I just flat out tell me husband purchase this and wrap it up - or do the same thing - here, I bought this for myself so wrap it up. It makes things so much easier because while my husband can spot a deer while driving at dusk a hundred yards away - he can not remember that I told him I wanted a certain present (that I forwarded a picture and link to him over text) Bless his heart.

I either legitimately don’t want anything, or I tell people exactly what I want, but I have this issue with my partner haha. He’ll be saying all year, “Oh man, I’m cold, but my winter jacket is too heavy,” “oh, man, I don’t have a travel coffee mug so I’m just going to bring this ceramic one and hope it doesn’t spill in the car,” and then I get him the down jacket and the spill proof mug and the waterproof backpack for when his mug spills anyway, and he acts like he doesn’t care but he ends up using them every single day.
Just Celebrated our 19th Anniversary. I asked my wife what she wanted for an anniversary gift and she told me that I know her taste and she is really easy to buy for. I feel this video so hard!

What's more funny, is evey birthday, Christmas and mother's day that he thinks to ask me what I want, I tell him "more hooded sweatshirts!" (And I mean it...the kids steal them!). I think I'm going on year 3 of asking for hooded sweatshirts (only when he asks what I want) and I still haven't gotten one. Usually lately I don't even get a card either. I'm not complaining..just, wow, I think that might beat Penn's adhd!
