I dont understand why people keep saying the old one is better, this is an absolute jam Also technically this level is called Robotnik Rock and i think that's funny
The two are quite different, so it's really up to one's preference. Personally I like the original better, it's overall feels more fitting and the guitar solo is just orgasm to my ears. It's what kept me motivated to complete the level. The new one just sounds like a generic sonic track that doesn't really stand out to me. I'm going to have to place a wad just to bring the original two Egg Rock tracks cause the new ones is kind of disappointing. The other zones have good music overhauls but the new Egg Rock track really isn't for me.
To me, the last one just screamed "SONIC THE HEDGEHOG". This one does as well, but not nearly as good, and not as well for the meat grinder orbital deathtrap that is Egg Rock Zone.
Well, I associate it as the Eggman motif. Aka, in the boss theme, Castle Eggman, and this zone. Though Eggman takes up a large chunk of that intro anyway, so perhaps it still fits there anyway
Thank god I am not the only one. So many people want the old version over this one because of the guitar. I think it was a bit too loud, this version mixed all the instruments perfectly.
I really love how it sounds like something from Mania or slightly CD.. But overall, I really love how the new soundtrack is imitating Mania's way of music.
The difference is in act 3 because they moved from egg rock zone act 3 to black core in 2 separate parts: 1st the metal sonic race and 2nd the battle on the ring. So, the level isn't too difficult.
I took a listen to both this one and the old version. First off, this is actually a slight remix of the old one, perhaps more of a reimagining. That bass carried over, specifically. Act 2 directly references the old one too so it's not completely forgotten aside from the bass. Second, the old songs were too short. The guitar's pretty good but when the song loops after the end of it, it gets repetitive, fast. The old Act 1 also had its guitar delayed by a touch from the rest of the song which made it sound really weird to me. I haven't grown up playing SRB2; it was just something I knew existed and saw a few videos for in the past, so I don't get any nostalgia from it. Personally I think the new Egg Rock theme sounds amazing and fitting for a final level. Can someone please upload 15-30 minute extensions, if not STJr first? ^_^ Keep up the good work.
@MustardStache Egg Rock zone wasn't even a thing in until at LEAST 2003. Trust me, saying this game was developed in the 90s is more of a fun fact then something that influenced this game a lot. SRB2 only really started to look like how it is today in 2000
As much of a banger as this is, it just doesn't feel the same without the iconic guitar sections from the old theme, at least they included it briefly in Act 2
News flash people! The 1st song for this stage WASN'T BETTER. It was your first experience listening to this song while playing this game for the 1st time so of course you going to dislike the updated one
it really surprises me how little recognition 1:35 to 1:52 receives, it's so intense yet borderline ominous If I had to describe the feeling it gives with a phrase it would be "welcome to my world", it just showcases how truly big and dangerous Egg Rock is, both from a gameplay and story perspective
At last. The Egg Rock. With seven emeralds in hand, the trio speeds into the battlestation, ready to conquer anything Eggman throws at them. Meanwhile... Fang has snuck on to the Egg Rock by means undisclosed as of v2.2.0. Oohhh, he's gonna get those goodie two-shoeses back. But not before he gives Eggman a piece of his mind. Not when this darned station blew up his stash he hid back on Greenflower Mountain.
Angry Sonic: Fuck this level. Sad Tails: This is the only level I can’t cheese! Knuckles: This is fine. Irate Fang: If only Greenflower Mountain didn’t blow up..!
This one is really good on its own but the old one was simply orgasmic with that guitar. Maybe its nostalgia but this version is also awesome and still fits the stage.
Now that I think if it the earlier versions everyone else misses sounds like it belongs in a Adventure game while this sounds like it can be in a classic game (melody wise). Either way I absolutely love both
This level constantly drives me to insanity. I didn't think any zone was worse than Red Volcano, but wow. Knuckles alternate path isn't very fun either. Guess the music is good though.
Oh god the blue platforms. So I did a Sonic playthrough and took that path. I got to the blue platforms... Yeah that section sucks. You have to wait... Patiently... For the blue platforms to make their way while focusing on staying on them. Then you have the moving platforms. Jumping over the obstacles is easy enough, but sliding under them... At the time I didn't know I could jump out of a spindash, and since it's easy to go into a spindash.... Well, it obly takes a couple words to describe it. (Ahem...) *TH' SUCK.* And then you have a shiny emblem in the next section that I obviously must is has. Is shiny! What can I is says??
As epic as the original track was, this is MUCH better to listen to in a level that I'm going to be stuck in for half an hour because of how difficult it is. XD
Ah nonsense, Act 1 and Act 2 are pretty easy once you learn the layout. The stages are honestly tailored to be ran pretty easily with Sonic, and Act 1 only takes 4 minutes while Act 2 takes 8 minutes for me. That being said, the new stages are definitely hard af, to the point where gaming over became a serious problem by Egg Rock Zone. It wouldnt surprise me if Egg Rock Zone got its own make over and ended up getting seriously difficult.
@@smtmonke Really? Egg Rock devoured almost all my lives as Knuckles. XD The only level I've really had trouble with before Egg Rock is Arid Canyon because of that one REALLY long sequence of rope thingies near the end. If you're not someone with a mobility skill, you're in for a real bad time.

Finally at the base. It's time to speed up, cuz this is the last stage there gonna go throught. But, they now it ain't gonna be easy, and they were real damn right. Spikes are horrificaly common, same for pits. The enemys are just alot harder to dodge, since they are incredibly fast. Lazer traps cut down anyone one foolish enough to hit it. Sonic knows that this is the hardest obstacle yet, but the three won't give it up.

Hello! If you found this on the comments, here is a tip for Record Attack on Egg Rock (both acts):
Use Metal Sonic. Seriously.

How about I say no and instead use him to beat himself
And then use Fang to cheese literally every boss in the game
who needs metal sonic when you got the real deal right here
I'd apply this for basically every level in the game.
