My dad had about three of these with one of them being a station wagon. Love these cars! 161 is plenty. Tuned and rebuilt it would be perfect. Same green colour for all three. Green. He also had a mint EH up until he died. I had an FC and a EH special. These cars are wonderful. Easy to work on. It doesn’t need a V8 or turbocharger. Original is best. There’s not too many originals about.
what a rippa car mate ,we all had one in fact i had one when i was 19 years old ,got it from Ken Morgan Toyota as a trade in which was parked way down the back ,funny story i drove it from the dealership to the nearest servo as it had f all fuel in it ,i popped the bonnet and checked oil and radiator and bugger me it started up but drove a lil crap on the way home but i just thought it was a bit gutless ,186S speco three on floor ,i drove it for a couple months like that till i popped the bonnet and noticed i yanked a plug lead off when i checked the oil way back when ,jammed it back on and it went like a cut snake ,what a GOOSE
My first car was a hr with a 161. My mate got hold of a Stomberg 2 barrel, found a manifold and installed it. It completely transformed the car. Way more power. Definitely use one of the 2 barrels.
I had a bit of HR in my EJ - the disc brake front end, to go with the other slight mods...... 202, 149 head maxed size valves, cam, dissy, triple 1 3/4" SUs, all synchro box. Was a very fun car.
Great find! So many original parts in it. Even the plates would seem to be original. Vic registration would have been at JU letters in 1966. The plates are worth something on their own. Our family vehicle was a 1965 HD special wagon: 179 c.i. It had a JF plate.
Bringing my old girl from Tassie to Perth in March / April to start on her. About the same nick really - except the floors and K are all good. Gotta keep 'em stock I say.
It's absolutely beautiful mate and I wish you the best with the restoration❤ Just a quick question but would you know where the vin number is located on it? My mates got the same model but we can't figure out the vin location😂
It's on the firewall behind the valve cover...There will be a series of numbers and a letter after...most likely to be an M or an S...I pointed it out in the vid...Cheers mate.
The Melbourne models needed a heater no doubt. Bet the perth ones didn't get a heater 🤣 oh yer and just leave it stock ..nothing like an original especially these days .hardly see any on the roads here in Perth now
We used to crash and burn these old holdens and fords. If only we knew. $1000 good price, since covid these things went for $5000 in worse cond. It is nice people are restoring them now.

Lucas 2 speed wipers... off and intermittent 🤣
That's the one.
don't forget the Lucas lights, auto off! after hitting a bump.
There's only 1 engine I'd put in there. THE smoothest 6 ever made. 179ci . cheers mate.
BTW, the commo is lookin cleean as but it's been a nightmare.
I may talk him into a cam and stick the 2bbl on...Cheers Vic.
Leave it stock. Great buy at 1k. Well done.
That's the plan...

I'd love to have a HR, I'd keep it stock.
I love 'em...Cheers mate.
Unmolested, the only way to go..
what is that plug on the rear bumper for
It's a trailer plug.
What is happening with the 'Feisty Festiva'? And how is the Clubsport?
The Festy is coming up real soon and the Clubby is still going well...Cheers Brad.
161, the quietest running of the red sixes.
For sure.

I reckon she looks pretty straight,
but there’s still a fair bit of work
Will be keeping the owner of the street at night that’s for sure
Yep she needs a bunch of stuff...Plan is to make it mechanically A1 and new interior but the patina will stay.
With those front brakes you'd better leave it stock :)
Yep...Not the most efficient...Cheers mate.
Noice pick-up...Stock!
Good choice...Cheers Glen.
Interesting Project Ziggy, I'd say it needs a BBC if it would fit lol
Not sure that's in the plan here Ron...lol...Cheers mate.
The Melbourne models needed a heater no doubt. Bet the perth ones didn't get a heater 🤣 oh yer and just leave it stock ..nothing like an original especially these days .hardly see any on the roads here in Perth now
Sydney cars didn't get a heater either other than the Prem...Yeah stock-ish it will be...Cheers mate.
You wouldn't believe it ,I saw an immaculate HD today at my local shops .same colour as yours .all stock original 👌
As you said mate, keep her stock..
Yep...Stockish....Cheers Mark.
Definitely keep stock look, with a hot 186 and a 5 speed. Old school kidney bean mags, lower it. ❤
It's gunna keep the patina...
I've been watching Blake the doctor on the internet and the police chief cars are so cool I know that Holden is a Chevrolet actually
Yep GMH was really run by GM Chevrolet for a long time...The history of Holden bids are really good info...Cheers mate.
We used to crash and burn these old holdens and fords. If only we knew. $1000 good price, since covid these things went for $5000 in worse cond. It is nice people are restoring them now.
They're hard to find complete now...This one was a bit more than 1k tho...That's what a new bonnet is worth.!!!...Cheers mate.
Time capsule I would just clean it up leave it as is love to know what they paid for it but worth every cent.
That's how it is now mate...All finished and on the road was not cheap...It was really rusty...Cheers
1K? Unbelievable bargain.
That's just for a bonnet.!!...I think he payed 9k for it...I could be wrong.
@@ziggassedup Ah, that makes more sense. I was probably multi tasking picking the lint out of my navel while watching, and missed that.
Stock or a small turbo , make it a little sleeper
Stockish I think is a good thing...Cheers mate.
Keep it stock, no big mods. Original holden 6.
That's the plan...Cheers mate.
The EJ/EH dashboard looked better
Each to their own mate...EH was a very cool car...My dad had a sky blue with white roof sedan...Cheers mate.
Leave it stock,patch and paint.
I recon that's the plan...Cheers mate.
6 cyl 3 speed 👍
Yep.
Retromod it
I'd love to.
