OMG, I loved this Batmobile so much! I played with this thing over and over. Just watching this brings back so many memories. The orange window guards always tripped me out and I loved the battering ram and claw features. I don’t remember mine making the sound, hmm. Loved my Batman and Robin figures too. Great review btw! Awesome stuff showing the relevant clips and all.
Hi shartimus, I still have mine and it's displayed in an acrylic case with the rest of the hot wheels 1:18 diecast batmobiles from the movies, and I'm proud to say that even that I played with it, the car it's like new, no scratches and everything works as it should be, unfortunately I can't said the same thing for the box that I still have, and also my batmobile doesn't make that sound in the wheels.
Just checked mine, it does not make the sound either

How cool is it that the controls for the mechanisms are actually right there where the Batman figure would have access to them? Made for much more realistic play, instead of say, some button hidden under the car. It's like Batman himself is reaching over and turning on the headlights. The guys at Kenner were just toymaking geniuses. I'm so lucky I grew up on all their toylines.
Kenner was firing on all cylinders in the late 70's - 80's. Star Wars, MASK, Centurions, Silver Hawks and the Super Powers lines were all fantastic.
For some reason, my grandparents had this Batmobile in a box of toys we would play with when we went to their house. So much nostalgia.
Why dis they have it?
I believe this Batmobile was used in Superfriends, even before the Super Powers seasons.

When i was a child, i got the batmobile and Batman and i remember played many times, it was a fantastic toy.

That is one of the most coolest Batmobiles and I do love those figures better than the stuff we get today durable long lasting high quality you get far more than what you paid for very well-built

As a kid, I only saw this once in a store, opened, half out of the box, there was no way I was going to be allowed to buy it. Never saw one again. So seeing a mashup of this with the 89 batmobile for the new line, I needed it.
I picked this up a few years ago at a con loose for $30, it was missing the steering wheel and the front windshields but it is good enough for what I want. It's an excellent display piece and looks great with batman and robin inside it

Best plastic Batmobile of all time! I need to get a case for mine - dust finds its every nook and cranny.
I use paint brushes to clean mine. Some big and some small.
Interesting. I didn't know the tire sound was supposed to be continuous. Mine makes the sound at intervals, kind of like a chugging train, and to my recollection, it always did.
I got that Batmobile on my birthday in 85! And i loved it!

I had that!!! I haven't seen it since I was a kid, but it's just as I remembered it. Same with the figures. One of these days I'll attempt to find them packed away at my moms house.

I still have mine from childhood. It still looks great. No scratches or sticker damage. As soon as I got it, I had my dad remove that awful tab that makes noise.I remade it a few years. Best toy car of the 80's besides The Thunderhawk.

Okay, I got jealous and ordered one of these on eBay for $80! I'll probably use it in a stop motion animation and can't wait to add it to my Batmobile collection.
Great vehicle. Love this design only second to the 60’s TV Batman version. (I also had a second one I let me kids play with like you did!)
Man my parents must have disabled that sound before Christmas!! 😂I’m almost 50 and just learned that it made a noise when rolling.

Great review. Of all the toys I had as a child, I STILL have this Batmobile, Batman, Robin, Joker and Superman. I gave my Joes away to my cousin, and sold my MOTU collection in my early 20s (if I had only known the future market for those), but these stayed in my possession.
Simply the greatest Batmobile ever made (just beating the Corgi 1966 Batmobile) and the Greatest Batman and Robin figures ever made (just beating the Mego 12" versions)

The claw is above the turbine exhausts. If memory serves the batmobile has flames coming out back there, sometimes. Does that mean that the Caped crusader BBQed the Joker?
The Kenner Super Powers collection was selling here in the Philippines back in 1989. This is before the 1989 Batman movie

This was an awesome video i just got the dark knight collection batmobile and the batmissile batmobile
As a kid this was a grail piece I loved the 66 batman snow reruns so batman robin joker and penguin were priority
I never got the batmobile because the downside to these toys is they were more expensive than other toys
2 GI Joe figures equaled 1 super powers figure and one batmobile =2 Joe vehicles.
But as an adult I have been lucky enough to own 3 of these
I think the reason it doesn't match any comic looks is I believe it was based on the cartoon series The Adventures Of Batman(think that was the title) which are the versions that also appeared in two episodes of Scooby Doo At The Movies which are on the Scooby Doo Meets Batman dvd and I believe recently on the Scooby Doo and Batman: The Brave And The Bold animated movie dvd. It was also in turn I believe influenced by the 60's show's Batmobile.

Parents had problems with the noise mechanism, (because of course they did, and as such there was a running change to dial back the sound.

I loved that Super Powers line and wish they would re-release it a la the Star Wars retro collection.
With the 89 BatMobile i unscrewed it and pulled out the this that made the noise
I haven't got this version but I do have a small black car version with them in it and they're red

Damn I envy you. I wish I had that Batmobile.
Man I played the heck out of this thing back in the day - one of my prouder child innovative moments is when my back auto hook/grab feature broke I was able to dismantle this thing and repair it at like 8 years old or so! I need to order a cockpit glass replacement for one side, but they don't make em like this anymore. IMO - the greatest of all Batman figure collectibles. Congrats on your score!

McFarlane tries to duplicate the super powers action figures and failed miserably as always. Kenner was amazing unlike a lot of these cheap ass toy companies these days. Wish Kenner would come back as how they used to be.
