Netflix needs to adapt this into a TV series for the upcoming streaming wars. You never know when AT&T and Disney will pull their content out of Netflix.
I've taken the time to think about this a lot, so I am glad someone finally asked. Sherlock Holmes: A broken man, joining LXG after the death of Watson. He would be brought on as a strategist and for his keen insight into criminal activity. Captain Nemo: Joins LXG so he can continue adventuring, as well as being promised that he would be able to visit Atlantis. His ship(s), crew, and leadership skills were the reasons he was asked to join. Peter Pan: The boy who never grows up joins LXG in hopes that they can help him return to NeverNeverLand. Peter's seeming immortality and flight are what he brings to the table. Peter would eventually begin to age and lose all hope of returning home. Dr. Frankenstein: Joins LXG after they helped him kill his creation, he owes them his life. He uses his skills to keep the crew of the Nautilus alive and well. Mephisto: Faust's demon has found a new host to stay alive in, Etrigan style, and joins LXG so he may find and destroy Faust's notes. The Phantom: The unwilling host of Mephisto. Agrees to be a member of LXG so he can regain his body from the demon. He is a master at tracking and hiding. Mulan: Deemed a War Criminal by the Emperor, she joins LXG in hopes to find evidence that will allow her to return home for a crime she will not speak of. Mina Harper: The immortal vampire joins to seek out the remaining brides. She is distrustful of all but Mulan, who she begins to long for. Abe Freakin: One of the American representatives of LXG. He finds kinship with Nemo and also shares Nemo's hopes in finding Atlantis. Huck Finn: Another American, selected by president Sawyer himself. Huck is very reliable and makes quick friends with Peter and Mulan. Big Jim: The last American in LXG. He is Huck's partner and also chosen by Sawyer. He is quiet but eventually forms a strange friendship with Holmes. Feel free to evaluate this team as you want.
My fictional lineup would be as follows: Sherlock Holmes, Mary Poppins, Zorro, The Lone Ranger, The Count of Monte Cristo, Victor Frankenstein, and Madame Giry from The Phantom of The Opera
The Leader- The Doctor The Brains- Velma Dinkley The Vampire- Barnabas Collins Femme Fatale- Emma Peel The Psychic- Rod Serling (kinda like Uatu the watcher) The swordsman- Adam Adamant The Bionic Man- Steve Austin The scientist- Dr. Benton Quest The Martial Artist- Black Belt Jones The Thief- Simon Templar
My league will be composed of: 1- Dr. Moreau (The Leader) 2: Hugo Hercules (Muscle/Heavy Hitter) 3: Tarzan(Forager/Tracker) 4: Frankenstein[Adam] (Second Heavy Hitter) 5: Calypso (Siren and Mystic) 6: John Carter (Planetary Liason/Warrior) 7: Galleywag (Comedic Relief) 8: Maxwell Hopkins (Hellraising pinkerton soldier/ancestor of Jimmy Hopkins from Canis Canem) 9: Artemis (Huntress/Mystic) 10: Gill-Man (Loyal Pet and Watchdog)
Well, what I’ve made isn’t really the league of extraordinary gentlemen per say, but it’s like the LXG. It’s called the league of monsters. The members include: -Special Agent Sarah Clyde -Frankenstein’s monster -Count Dracula -The Mummy -Wolfman -The living Scarecrow -Ghost Bog -Shadow
I have here the Russian Version of League of extraordinary gentlemen : 1)Voland from The Master and Margarita《devil》 2)Ostap Bender from 1933's novel Thé twelve chairs《swindler and venturer》 3)Ihtiandr from Aleksandr Belaev's Amphibian - Man 《Amphibian - man 4)Petr Garin from The Garin's Death Ray《genial ingeneer, maniac , great strategist》 5)Professor Preobrazhensky from Michael Bulgakov's The Dog's Heart《doctor who turned a dog into a human》
1.Saxton Blake 2.Inspector Lestrade 3.Detective Finnegan (AKA Huckleberry Finn) 4.John Clayton of Gratstock (AKA Tarzan) The four fighting an anarchistic group led by the Anarchist (From the Stole Bacillus) in London and trying to stop him from feeding the HG Wells martians information through the crystal egg device.
Well I'd take the league as it is, and somehow add Gandalf Harry Potter, Matilda, Wonka, Marry Poppins, The Lorax, a Who from Whovile, Mrs. Whatsit, A wild thing, Peter Pan, Azland, Stuart Little, Cat in the Hat, the borrowers, etc, etc, etc, plus the polar express, Chitty-Chitty Bang Bang, the Dawn Treadder, etc, all of the respective villains and the Grinch(Because apparently he's already been a comic villain, a whole race of him...).
my L.O.E.G. dream team: The wolfman (A story of a weir-wolf) John McClane (Die hard) The rocketeer (Pacific comics) Swamp thing (vertigo comics) dana scully (the x-files)
I know Tom Sawyer was a bit of a let down in the movie, but I did like the idea of an American literary figure on the team. I would have gone with Huckleberry Finn, though. Also, Moore's original choice of Irene Adler as the team leader, then Sexton Blake, Raffles, Professor Challenger and the Wandering Jew.
All Four Musketeers Edmond Dantes the count Monte Cristo Cyrano de Bergerac Zorro Guy Fawkes The Phantom of the Opera And some original characters Descendants of Robin Hood and King Arthur !
my list goes Leader - Sherlock Holmes Fencer - Prince Hamlet (from the Kenneth Branagh hamlet) Doctor - Abraham Van Helsing Hunter - Carmilla (some interesting distrust between her and helsing) Bad guys are Big Boss - General Zaroff Henchmen 1 - Jack the Ripper Henchmen 2 - Doctor Frankenstein
Now the Movie had it's fun points, basically The X-Men of the 19th century, with a lot of fun, they are Extraordinary, in that saucy Connery delivery, like in Highlander, the Kergan would make a excellent villain, for the Clan Macleod dances around, no really the Kergan would make a excellent enemy
1. Rj macready, 2.Dr.stranglelove, 3. the time traveler, 4. Buffy summers, 5. Leon the professional, head of the organization: rod Serling, Villians: lo pan, Alex delarge, Tyler durdand.
I'm normally very critical of movie adaptations of properties that I love ans even though I'm a huge fan of the comic (especially The Black Dossier), I still liked the movie. Admittedly, it barely bore a passing resemblance to the original, but it was fun. Given that it's going to be on Fox, I don't have high hopes for the series.
I don't really think it Is better if they do a proper adaptation I understand there's no Hyde fighting war of the worlds tripod but they make the movie characters more likeable the comic characters are such shitty characters and rape rape everywhere! 2 of the league members are rapists and Mina floats between being a joke about how guys who deal with hardcore shit can't stop talking about this lady's divorce that's fine and adds to her character but they take the strong independent woman thing to dumb levels just has her slapping the shit out of dr Jekyll and then kindly asked him to not hurt her like imagine if one of the avengers just slapped the fuck outta Bruce banner cause they want the hulk there's just too much of the writers weird little fantasies at play in the comic. The movie has problems but I wanna see what comes next but after reading vol1 and 2 I like nemo and quartermain I wish everyone else was killed by Martians they cross the line from flawed into unlikeable dbags. This is just erotic fan fiction I'm glad the movie was what it was making skinner a rapist would not make the movie better
My dream-team of heroes... Well I did write one fanfiction that put Snake Plissken, Jason Voorhees, Spawn, Ginger Fitzgerald and Max Guevera together... but that's just one of (too) many that I've thought up.
The movie was good; like Diana Dekajlo said, it visually captures the graphic novels nicely. I think it would have been better if the characters had been closer to how they were depicted in the graphic novels.
My ultimate team up would consist of epic Video game hero's Master Chief (Halo) Solid Snake (Metal Gear Solid) Sam Fisher (Splinter Cell) and Lara Croft
I was very impressed by this week's video. I thought the lighting and camera placement was much better. You did a superb job with the thumbnail. I'm a big fan of the League and my team would be Pippi Longstocking,Arrietty Pod,Tarzan,Mandrake the Magician,Doc Brown, and Gort.
My line up would be the same but I would like to add some characters from the Philippines. One would be "Lamang" (Lam - ang ) who has a lot of versions of his stories / Adventures who is fictional. And "Andres Bonifacio" one of the Philippines heroes. He founded the "Katipunan". He could bring the Katipunan into the story as well. And I think he would be a guy to add a lot of canon fodder to the stories. :)
His personality wouldn't really allow him to fit into the group well. So he added lupin because in the old stories he saw him as a rival but also had an odd respect for him.
What do you mean of who would you put in your dream team like have bunch of characters from Comics,TV shows, and movies because I was a bit confuse when you said that
Geek Crash Course That's not why I said that. Though, if that isn't an issue I'm not going to argue it, though that just opens up like a million more possibilities that would make it way to hard for me to narrow down my own choices, which as you've already seen really needs a LOT of narrowing down.
I haven't read LXG - Century. Is it worth reading? I love the first two volumes. I wish that HBO (or STARZ or whoever) would pick LXG up because I have a feeling that a network wouldn't be able to do the series justice.
Great job Diana. If I had a choice I would go with. Arsene Lupin, Dr. Watson, I would keep Nina & Jeckyl, & make Nemo an independent character, sometimes ally, sometimes rival. Not reveal who the actual person behind the group is but have it implied that both the american & British governments had Sherlock Holmes secretly assemble the league with Watson acting as his informant in the league
Kaliman Cybersix Demetrio Macias (Los de abajo) The descendant of Nicolás and Pilar adopting the ways of Martín Sanchez Chagollan (El zarco) A new Monja Alférez
Sherlock Holmes (mastermind), Hawkeye (marksman), the Invisible Man (stealth), Dorian Grey (invincibility), Q (tech support). I like the idea of a stealthy, durable league. I'm less about FLASH-BANG-PUNCHING. -Diana
+sayElectronica In The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Vol 1 Dorian Gray's portrait can be seen in there museum HQ. But he was not a member of that team and had nothing to do with the story, unlike the 2003 movie. Dorian Gray was the main character from Oscar Wilde's 1890 philosophical fiction novel The Picture of Dorian Gray.
1# Batman 2# nathan drake 3# Dr fate 4# Scarlet Spider (Ben Raily) 5# Shadow the hedgehog 6# Goku 7 # Marty McFly 8# Doc Brown 9# Batgirl (Barbara) 10# Nightwing as my first team there is another one but that is for the future.
Ya I read volume 2 of the comic and I got why people were upset but still like the movie a lot but after reading vol 1 and 2 I realize the comic isn't just fan fiction it's every gross fantasy they wanted to put in a comic I'll take my fun adventure movie any day of the week and would love a sequel but I do not want see what happens to the cruel dumb racist dumb rapist characters I kinda hate the comic the more I think about it if there are 2 rapist and your team and the woman Mina is just a non character who is in the comic to be victimized over and over and over and we're supposed to see her bitchy attitude as some kind of strength but all she does when in trouble is say "please don't hurt me" movie Mina has problems but isn't completely unlikeable like the comic character when in the comic Mina is upset because skinner killed a cop she didn't really have a problem with any of the horrific things her teammates did but oh no he's harmed a constable ugh I like Hyde 1000x times more in the movie just by removing his woman killing/raping origin and the same goes for skinner he's better in the movie
Terrific storytelling concept, brilliantly brought to life by Moore, horrendously adapted to the big screen. Dorian Gray was utterly wrong; he should be angelic, sweet, cherub-like. Not a lascivious, evil-looking, sexy bad boy! See the 1945 movie with George Sanders and a shockingly young Angela Lansbury for a perfect performance as Gray. Indeed, he's much creepier that way, anyway! But at least kudos to them for FINALLY depecting Nemo accurately, as a Brit-hating east Indian! (Why must they ALWAYS cast a Brit to play Nemo?)
Ya comic or movie I kinda wonder if nemo needed the league at all he's pretty fuvking self sufficient but I don't wanna see the other comic characters on screen the comic makes 2 members of the league rapists and Mina an independent woman stereotype I want Martians in the movie oh ya but not at the cost of seeing all the gross shit in the comics and they honestly had too much shit going on the final fight in vol 1 would of been prevented by Hyde just killed all the Chinese guys there was no reason for their goofy escape and Hyde immediately just joins the team and started taking orders just cause but one line explains it in the movie "I'm yours"
I don't know, Moore's handling of the Harkers still makes me very angry. Their defining trait in the original novel was their literally undying devotion to each other. Mina's husband Jonathan, after Mina is on the verge of being turned, literally says that he will join her in vampirism if she does so she doesn't have to face it alone. The fact that Moore not only destroys their relationship, but does so for the reasons that are such a complete and fundamental debasing of who they are as characters all for the sake of servicing his own ideas, is super hypocritical considering how vocal he is about adaptations needing to maintain the integrity of his characters as he wrote them.
Like, did he not even _read_ Dracula? The point was that Dracula can't understand love; he's all obsession and greed and lust and selfishness, and the Harkers and their friends defeat him through their absolute love and trust for each other (with Mina as basically the group's leader by the end). What does it imply, that Moore saw no value in one of the Victorian era's most wholesome, devoted, mutually respectful fictional power couples? That to make Mina single he scrapped the entire resolution of the novel that the cast fought and some died for and completely retconned both her and her husband's characters to make Jonathan an asshole who considered his wife "damaged goods," even though Alan Moore himself decries breaking the integrity of original characterization in adaptations like that? Like, book Jonathan is gentle and mild-mannered but calling his wife and sole reason for living "damage goods" is a garranteed way to piss him off. And framing Jonathan as the guy who said that? What I'm saying is: if given the chance, Jonathan Harker would punch Alan Moore. After Mina punches Moore first.
My dream team: 1. The Doctor (Doctor Who) 2. Luke Skywalker ( Star Wars) 3. James T Kirk and Jean Luc Picard (Star Trek) 4. Sherlock Holmes 5. Doctor Emmett L. Brown (Back to the Future) 6. Indiana Jones 7. Tron 8. Gandalf And 9. Green Arrow And 10. Thor or Captain America
Indiana Jones Doctor Brown from Back To The Future(you never know when a time machine/deloran might come in handy) Quick Sliver Black Cat The 6 million dollar man(and maybe his wife) She Hulk(Hulk may be stronger but he's unpredictable, I mean say one morning you accidentally ate his lunch, than you'd be the torn in half man) Dr Frankenstein(yes there's already another doctor but we'd keep Frankenstein as a medic and maybe if he could keep his monster under control we'd add him) That way we'd someone who studies ancient civilizations very well, a time machine(and a flying train just in case someone steals the deloran, a speedster, someone who can do acrobatics VERY WELL, a guy with a robotic arm(nuff said), muscle, and a medic.
I’ll never understand the hate the movie got. I personally love every second of it.
Same. For 2003 it really couldn't have been any better than what we got

He can reanimate the dead.....with eels.
Did he use electric eels? I don't remember that in the book.
What do you mean of who would you put in your dream team like have bunch of characters from Comics,TV shows, and movies because I was a bit confuse when you said that
The Doctor, Sherlock Holmes, Percy Jackson, Andy "Ender" Wiggins/Mazer Something, And Mr.Bean for Comic relief
Half of those are TV Characters...
mattwo7
With the exclusion of Mr. Bean and Doctor Who.... they're book characters.
You listed 5 characters, that pretty much IS half. Technicalities aside, those two still wouldn't work either way.
mattwo7 At what point did Diana demand only book answers? (Hint: it was never.)
Geek Crash Course That's not why I said that. Though, if that isn't an issue I'm not going to argue it, though that just opens up like a million more possibilities that would make it way to hard for me to narrow down my own choices, which as you've already seen really needs a LOT of narrowing down.

When will the LXG pilot from fox be airing???
Who knows? Since Disney bought Fox, that pilot might not see the light of day...:/
I liked the add of Dorian Grey myself, and he's immortal, so it makes since...
Dorian Grey was definitely my favorite addition in the movie. Great use of his character too. -Diana

I saw the movie in '03, but am just now revisiting the series. What was new?
