D&D and RPGs have been a huge part of my 40+ years of gaming. In fact, I have met most of my dearest friends through this wonderful hobby. I have now passed my passion on to my daughter and run games for her and her friends. Excelsior!

D&D has given me great memories, fun stories, and introduced me to people that I now consider treasured friends, such as yourself. I can confidently say that D&D has given more to me than any other game besides Strip Poker ...... 😅

I have a complete D&D Basic Set in the box! I didn't really come into D&D until 2e and 3e, but it's made me a better storyteller. ❤

Love this tribute and sharing of memories! It got me thinking...
Adam, a suggestion... You should do a video sharing some information about one or more of your favorite D&D characters you created and played, and/or favorite moments within a D&D game, and invite others to share theirs. One of my favorite characters... Rathgaar Redbeard- a perpetually drunken, boisterous, dwarven 'cleric' who worshipped a minor dwarven deity, Jovius, who nobody had ever heard of, and everyone questioned was even a real god... until Rathgaar started performing minor feats like 'magically' refilling cups of ale for himself and others, and turning a bard's sad, forgettable musical performance into one of great mirth and enjoyment. As the doubts of the party members and NPC's started to fade away, Jovius became a strong enough deity to eventually grant Rathgaar the ability to cast typical first level cleric spells... and beyond. Rathgaar (and Jovius) eventually became quite strong, and loved! :D

That’s fun! It’s tough for me as I’m almost always the DM.

@@DLSaga I know the feeling. Through about half of all my D&D gaming history, I had to be the DM, by default. And during that time, for the most part, it was just myself and one friend, who had no interest in being the DM, but we both wanted to play D&D. We got creative. I DM'd, and we both roleplayed two characters each, to round out a party of four. I know that's unorthodox and sounds dull or crazy to most people, but it actually made us better players of the game. We both had to fully commit ourselves to the distinct personalities, motives and abilities of two characters. On top of that, I had to run the game, while NEVER allowing my 'behind the curtain' knowledge of the adventure to influence what my characters did. We made it a general rule that my characters would not take leadership roles in the campaign. They would offer advice and carry out actions that were true to their character. Often times, I had to play out actions that I knew my characters would do... but as a DM, knowing they would put themselves, others, or the success of the whole adventure at risk. Again... I know it sounds crazy, or unplayable to most gamers, but my friend and I did what we had to do to get us through the lean years when we didn't have any other available players, and like I said... I think it made us better roleplayers for it.

Its unfortunate that the 50th anniversary of this franchise is happening while its in really sad state. Its been terribly mishandled at this point, its truly sad. Still, I'm glad that some of the fans around are so dedicated to keeping the old feel and escapism(something that' becoming rarer and rarer these days) alive.
However, in regards to D&D and Dragonlance, I'm glad I have had the opportunity to play a Bozak in a campaign with a group of close friends. Something I always wanted to do since I read the Doom Brigade.

That was a great novel. There are a number of us fans who would like to keep the older editions alive, and have fun storytelling and living in Krynn from time to time.
