- Visiting some friends and all we had was a Weber gas grill. I used a Smoke Tube to add smokey flavor
Smoke tubes are available from Amazon and your local store that sells BBQ supplies.
Here is the recipe for "Jeff's Spicy Chicken Rub"....
Jeff's Spicy Chicken Rub:
1/4 cup paprika
1/4 cup fine kosher salt
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
1/8 cup chile powder
1/8 cup cumin
1/8 cup garlic powder
1/8 cup fine ground coffee
1 tablespoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon cayenne
1 tablespoon dry mustard
Mix and add to a shaker, apply generously -
Wow Jeff they look very delicious and tasty. You really got a great idea on using the smoke tube. The wings came out great 👍🏽. The taste test made me hungry. Have an awesome weekend my friend.
Thanks so much. We had to make do... and it worked out better than I expected.
Any thoughts on cooking them first and then smoking them while they rest? I would think that the oil/fat on the outside would attract more smoke.
Smoke penetrates meat until it reaches about 160-170 degrees.
So smoking should happen before that. If you smoke at the end, you will only have smoke on the surface and the wings will cool down and may get mushy while smoking.
