Bless you mate. I'm in my 40s and Dunblane still sticks in my mind. The worst mass shooting in UK history; and because of the immediate government reaction it will hopefully stay that way.
Well said on the weird Dahmer thing as well. I work with lasses who seemed to warm to him after that series and it was very, very weird. Same with the film Monster 🤔

If you break down the lyrics, it really becomes an interesting song. Read the lyrics one way, it’s about disgruntled people using mass violence against others, most commonly depicted via guns. If you read it another way, it’s about someone who joins the military or police, needing somewhere to belong. The line “you and I are so similar” especially speaks to how similar these two seemingly dissimilar groups are. I like the lyrics overall and, as he said at the beginning of the song, it’s enough to make you think. I think the song speaks more to the culture of exclusionary tribalism (you’re not good enough for us, go away), celebrity worship and glorifying violence than it does about guns. That being said, I agree that some people would rather use songs like this (or Marilyn Manson) as an excuse to commit those acts of violence.

I enjoy that there are several different ways to look at this song and even if I found it a chewy listen (and watch) I can respect the level of dedication that goes into its creation. Thanks for watching and commenting Jeffrey :)

The "waaah?" reaction is pretty common, from the people I've seen seeing/hearing this for the first time. Thanks for the review and insight! I agree with criticisms about the over-the-top gun stuff in the video, and that's as an American from the Bible Belt, where guns are practically a rite of passage. I find that I really enjoy the musical side, along with the rest of the album, and I can deal with the theatrics.

I love Kims stuff as a whole, I actually really like "1-800-close-ur-eyes" it's over looked alot , it's actually has to do with vampires as well. But I also enjoy the bombastic metal style that jumps around in this type of song. The art as a whole is just super interesting to me glad he actually gained a following.

I am Kim's fan. Loved your reaction, first time viewer of your channel here.
Kim definitely drew attention with this being their first single, it makes a good choice, imo, even though many hate it.
The first song of theirs I heard was Seventy Thorns which blew my head off immediately. I was hooked. Drown is a bit of a less crazy one. Superhero was the latest MV, definitely recommend checking it out.
I absolutely love the debut album, A Gradual Decline In Morale, I can not get tired of it. Unique. Not sure why but their music does something special to my soul.
Also recommend reading the only interview for now with Kim, by Revolver magazine.

I am a massive Kim Dracula fan, and your assessment of the song and video is spot on with Kim's meaning behind it. Most all of their self-written music has quite deep messages within it, and the album is amazing! I was lucky enough to see Kim perform last month on their first headline tour, and their stage presence, musical talent, and interaction with the crowd was phenomenal. I also must add that I did meet Kim, and you would be surprised by how kind and down to earth they are. I have seen many concerts over the years, and this experience was one of the best nights of my life! Please look into more of Kim's music, such as 70 Thorns feat. Jonathan Davis and Superhero (the video for this has quite a deep meaning as well. My first time seeing a reaction by you, and loved everything about it. You are fierce and have a wonderful energy!

I confess I have never even heard of this performer. The video was pretty good as such and the song had enough variation to keep my attention. I would say there is a lot of Marilyn Manson in there (even vocally) mixed with Jonathan Davis of Korn.
I kept thinking of a Manson lyric (almost a direct quote of Stalin) that says "The death of one is a tragedy, the death of millions is just a statistic" which he came out with after he was blamed for Columbine (the track is "The Fight Song") .
I have watched a lot of stuff about serial killers (as well as having countless books on the subject) as I am fascinated as to how and why people end up doing such heinous things. If I ever went on a rampage I think my local library would be on the news saying "we knew he was weird"😂. The good news is that I could never be a maniac/serial kiler/mass murderer as when they are eventually found folks always say "he was such a quiet guy". That well and truly counts me out as I never shut up (according to others😂).
    Another fun video.

Don't worry, put the blame on me for the IT video. Woops. One band you won't ever love regardless of message lol 😅
Kim Dracula has never really done anything for me, personally, from what I've heard thus far. Not to say they won't ever. but not yet.
This song was all over the place, and I'm usually ok with that, but this felt like... 10 different songs? For no artistic reason I could distinguish. I didn't feel like any of the choices were adding to what they were trying to get across? The random brass bits felt like they were just kinda... tacked on? I didn't notice any other riffs or melodies or bits in the music that they related to.
Like, a lot of the stuff in here is cool as shit. I just kinda wish they took a few of the bits and made different songs out of them. 😂

Considering Kim Draculas home town, much like yours Melisa, "The Port Arthur Massacre"occurred in this State in 1996. Australia highest killing spree by allegedly one man. He would have experienced this as a child and wonder if this in particular has impacted the choice of words and visuals in this clip. I hadn't seen this before either, however had heard the song. The thing I find sad is that Marilyn Manson put a spotlight on this same subject thirty-five years ago and was ignored. Here we are, all this time later, and we have learned nothing. And by the way, I come from a family that owns a gun store, so I have been around firearms my whole life and my immediate family has enough to overrun most small nations. However, I am also intelligent enough to understand that guns make the act of eliminating another person exceedingly easy and we DO make these mass shooters famous by plastering them on every newspaper and news program. Something is broken and nobody is addressing it.
Now, I do like the song - I don't love it. I find it to be a great art-piece with a great message, but I would not listen to this in my car as it is just too chaotic for my ears. Maybe the TicTok generation loves this stuff that switches genres every fifteen to twenty seconds, but I can't enjoy it as a song. As I said, as a message, a statement, a work of art - I love it. As a piece of music to jam to as I cruise around - I can't do it. His song Drown - absolutely! This, and a few of his others are just a little too disjointed for my liking.
