I have a 2009 R56 Factory JCW N14 Hatchback with chrome headlamps and front grille along with the windshield and side window and rear window chrome trim. And also I do have the JCW AERO Dynamic Body Kit. Mellow Yellow in color. With the Mini love and hate relationship that comes along with the purchase. So there are some factory JCW N14 options that where available. And Big Brembro Brake System. Cheers, Good luck with your purchase.
I used to drive my old BMWs with my lights on, with any BMW product after 2000 I drive with the check engine light on. Even when I think everything is sound, voila, surprise CEL. Love it - hate it, fun little cars though 👍
So i just picked up a 2010 Mini Cooper S. I just added new Conti tires, rally lights, replaced the stripes and bought the tuning kit. It’s 2020 and the dealer was like we have sold a power kit in years for the R56 🤣.
I had a 2009 Clubman S. What a fucking nightmare. Following the Manual by the book, I went through 3 engines in 14 months! I'm an enthusiastic driver, not a mechanic, researcher, or bottomless ATM. No thank you!
I'm looking to buy a 2010 base model with 64,500 miles. I am going to the mechanic tomorrow to get it inspected before I make an offer! I sure hope that it is in good condition. I'll be sure to ask the inspector if it has been well oiled! Thank you for this video it is super informative!
The tires were worn and a small oil leak was starting to develope. The inspector said that it was most likely a gasket leak. On top of that there were only superficial problems such as a broken hood grill trim and a busted wiper fluid tube that needed repair. I ended up buying it and taking on those repairs. Because of it's condition, we settled on 6500$
There is a nice 2011 Mini with two women owners. I can buy it for $3,000. It has 170,000 miles on it but seems to run fine? Should I buy it or run from it? Just want a weekend driver.
@@TheMINIac I did a fax check on it. It seemed to be from what I could tell on oil changes good except a couple times went over 10k miles. It had brakes front and back put in it a few times.A valve cover gasket replaced once. A timing belt tensioner pulley once ( didn’t see where timing chain was replaced. Transmission fluid I think twice. And other normal maintenance. It was involved in a minor wreck where she hit someone in the rear and was enough to deploy airbags so think grille, bumper and left fender was replaced and painted. I couldn’t tell it except the bumper and grille looked in better shape than most 2011. The rest of the car outside and inside seems to be in better than normal condition. I was mainly concerned it had 170,000 miles on it and how much more I could expect out of a 2011 engine? We won’t drive it a lot a pretty easy we are both retired. If it ran 220k I would be satisfied.Should the timing chain in that model been replaced not just tension pulley once? See no evidence of it ever over heating or any other major problems or work done. It list for about $5,200 this lady had went through a divorce and seems to have a gambling habit and debt. She went from $4,700 to $4,000. Then after I showed her the carfax of the other owner wreck and I think she got in more money problems she said if I brought cash she would take $3,000. She was entering in some card tournament. Very nice home worth 700k but she was only owner about a year and hadn’t used the car much. It was the owner before her who I don’t know who she was that had the accident and did most of the maintenance. Could I go wrong at $3,000 for a 2011. Was that year a decent engine?
Great video. I was wondering in a standard mini does the standard change a lot from a 2009 to 2014 for example mini? Is it easier or harder to drive or is it about the same? Thank you again great videos love your channel
This is a good overall video but it would be good if you explained what some of the symptoms of the issues like rattling on start up or poor idle is caused buy ??
excellent video, a quick question though, you mention Mini dropped the mechanical limited slip diff n 2008 and the 2009 JCW got the electronic one, do the 2009 COOPER S Clubmans (and hardtops) still get the mechanical one or do they just get a standard open diff? cheers
Wouldn't touch any mini older than 2014 with a barge pole, you will be replacing gaskets plugging oil leaks and dealing with cheap plastic bits in the engine until you pull all your hair out.
@@TheMINIac is it a good engine. New to the mini. It is a nice looking car but has 170,000 miles on it? Can buy for $3,000 off lady who needs the money?
hi i have 2012 Mini Cooper Clubman 50th Anniversary Hampton Series that is a n18 engine i have the john cooper works badge on there plus cooper s on it is it a little different than the jcw?????
The heat shield on the hood is to prevent the hood scoop from warping due to the high heat from the turbo. It's usually only a problem if your running the car hard for long periods of time (eg track days). Usually just the upgraded heat shield over the turbo (like that JCW also has) will do the trick.

How's your experience driving it so far? I found one with similar price range on CarGurus, but not sure how reliable it is.
How do you like it?
Many thanks for sharing all info. Really appreciate it.

Hpfp £700 bmw or £320 psa part, both the same thing as it was a joint venture in 2008 to save costs for both car companies.
Lucky for you all. We don’t have the PSA products in the US but I guess we could order the parts from Europe.

@2007vwbeetle if it was well maintained yes. But that mileage, I would make sure it’s in perfect shape.

You didn't mention the heat shield above the turbo on the red JCW. Are they a good idea to have? Or do they send heat back to the turbo so that fails?
The heat shield on the hood is to prevent the hood scoop from warping due to the high heat from the turbo. It's usually only a problem if your running the car hard for long periods of time (eg track days). Usually just the upgraded heat shield over the turbo (like that JCW also has) will do the trick.
may be easier just to go over what is NOT going to go wrong.
Anyone know how to turn the lights on ,on the grill
They only are on when the high beams are off.
no engine sound and exhaust sound comparisons? 🤦🏼🤦🏼🤦🏼🤦🏼
