Referring to R56. The rubbers of the filter housing are the same material as the rubber of the filter washer, so whenever the filter is changed, the rubber with the filter must also be changed. This means that the lifetime of the rubbers of the housing is the same as the filter washer. So, in my opinion, the housing should also be added a normal gasket with the rubbers. Do you agree?
no - I don't imagine any car sales person would allow you remove the engine 😳however you can still check for oil burn, oil leaks and ask the questions such as 'has the camchain been changed?'

Is the 3rd gen mini any better regarding the cam chain nightmares?
We have never had any issues with a camchain on a 3rd gen
