Vajrasana / the thunderbolt / the diamond pose / the sitting asana in Yoga

  • Vajrasana, also known as the diamond pose, is a sitting posture which involves sitting on the knees with the calves beneath the thighs. It is the only pose that can be done on a full stomach.
    The pose is ideal for practicing meditation and breathing exercises like Pranayama, Kapalabhati, and Anulom Vilom.
    Vajrasana makes joints and ligaments strong as well as flexible. The muscles around the pelvic regions are greatly benefited. The posture also stimulates the functioning of kidneys, liver and pancreas.

    This is the last position(qaida) of namaz that our beloved prophet Muhammad sallallahu alayhe wasallam thought this ummah before 1400 years ago...

      Yes, its true. But I often see people foot and ankle postures are not correct in Vajrasana posture while offering Namaz. Request to please educate others so that they get the intended benefits of this posture.

    Thanks! For the wonderful video.
    Vajrasana helps me digest my food better. I do this every night after dinner for a minute. Immediately upon getting into the pose my body releases gas in the form of a series of belches.

    Asa नहीं है वज्रासन ---जब आप खाना खाते हो और खाना नहीं digest हो रहा होता तो इस आसन को करने से खाना digest हो जाता हैं ,,,,,,वज्र means hard food को digest कर दे ता हैं ,,,,,,जो इन्होंने नहीं बताया,,,,,

    Really thanks a lot.. immediately doing the vajrasana was causing a lot of pain since I have trouble with my ankle joints.. but the procedure you mentioned made it so easy and the pain significantly reduced❤

    We do this 5 times a day minimum. .
    In ramzan 25 times in night prayers after food

    Mam i started doing vajrasana from 2-3 but i feel pain in my knees it remains for sometime and than it is normal. So can i do this asana.

      Vajrasana is best for better digestion and gastric issues. It also betters the bowel movement. Best for easing lower back pain, calming your total system (mind, body, vital forces) as well as lowering the blood pressure.

      Vajrasan is a very comfortable position to be attained. It can even be practised right after food as well, which helps in better digestion. This shall be practised for at least 5-10 minutes. However, longer time can also be practised depending upon each person's comfort level.
